Ay, Dios Mio

*dusts off blog*

First, Happy (belated) Birthday to Jessica! And my new Myspace username is much easier: myspace.com/yajairav. I wanted Yajaira, or Yaya, but those were taken. That’s the most creative thing I could come up with LOL. Add me if you’d like, and I’ll add you back .

Once again, I’ve gone days without updating. Things are hectic as always and it doesn’t help that I caught Mary and Noelia’s throat infection/cold. The first day was hell…couldn’t swallow or talk, lost my voice and then yesterday I had this annoying tickling, prickly feeling at the back of my throat that made me cough everytime I began to talk. I’m taking Cefzil…500mg. Was supposed to be taking 1 pill in the morning and 1 at night, but the one I took at night the first day made me horribly naseous…I couldn’t sleep. Today I’ve got the uncontrollably runny nose .

We took the boys to the doctor Tuesday or Wednesday of last week. We actually took them to another doctor, a night clinic, since their doctor’s office was already closed. They were no help whatsoever. They prescribed Motrin and cough medicine, which is what I was already giving them at home, thankyouverymuch. Eenan was falling asleep in class because the cough medicine made him really drowsy. I took him off the medicine and kept him on Triaminic and he’s doing much better now. So’s Jaylen, except he’s been getting knee aches every night (growing pains?) and wakes me up at least 5 times to ask for medicine, a warm rice sock, something to drink, or to “play with my hair”. (I really need to wean him off of that bad, bad habit!) Needless to say, the past week I’ve been sleepy and tired all day. I’ve been trying not to nap, since it only makes me feel worse .

While eating dinner on Friday night after Mario got home from work, he tells me Annie, an old friend of Mario’s who I highly dislike and who used to be a stripper, filled out an application where Mario works. He assumes she won’t get hired since they just hired somebody. He couldn’t avoid her since she was at the entrance and he had to pass through there, so he said hi and she updated him on her life. The first thing she said was, “I’m not with [insert ex’s name here] anymore”. When he told me I was thinking, “Okay, why is she telling Mario?”. Since I’m a bitch and all, I asked Mario, “Wow…why’s she applying there, I wonder? What happened to her glamorous job as an ‘exotic dancer’?” I will throw a fit if that woman ends up working there. I don’t trust her skanky ass for shit. Doesn’t help that I’m not too fond of her dear sister either, who just so happened to be one of Mario’s best friends when he was in 10th grade and who also ended up stripping, though I don’t know WHY she’d allow other people to see her naked *shudder*. The horror! But anyway, I found it kinda weird that I’d been thinking about her earlier that day and had no idea why. That must have been it. I’m psychic .

We went to Jorge and Maggie’s that night to bar-be-cue. Mario had gone by once last week to have a few beers with Jorge…he hadn’t been going over there at all, which was really surprising. Hiram and Jorge have been acting weird since we went to Albert’s birthday party. Even while we were there that night I noticed Hiram was being sort of distant and even sort of…secretive? He said something to Jorge like, “Remember what I was telling you earlier? I don’t know if you want me to say anything or not.” I thought it was really “elementary school” and I felt like saying something sarcastic, but I shut my mouth. We all still talked and laughed like we usually do, but there was this awkwardness lingering.

On Saturday we went to Reynosa (Mexico) since Yazmin needed her bottom braces done and to pick up the plaster Ninja Turtle centerpieces and some candies. We went to get the Turtles while Yazmin was at the dentist with Yadira and the darn people didn’t even have them done! Mary had ordered them exactly a month in advance and they weren’t finished. They wanted us to come back next week and Mary told them that no, we needed them that day which was the whole reason she ordered them early. Next week is the party and we would not have time to go back. I notice the man was barely painting them. He had them painted mostly green already and I told Mary maybe it’s best if we just take them that way and paint the details (like their bandanas, arm and leg bands) ourselves since he’s probably also going to use the spray paint and since he was doing them in a hurry, he was most likely going to make a mess. So we brought them that way and have been painting them little by little. Tommy, Yadira, and the girls have all helped and so have Eenan and Jaylen. Here’s a picture. The one on the left is the first one we bought and decided we didn’t like the paint job and the one on the right is one of the many we’ve painted (there’s 14, and we still have a few details, like the eyes, to paint and touching up to do.)

We still have to order the cake, send out more invitations, buy the goodie bags and party favors AND his birthday present. *whew*

The boys were terrible at the candy store. They weren’t asking for everything they saw…they were either not moving (Eenan decided to plop himself on a box and refused to budge) or running around (Jaylen was running like a psycho all over the store). I was furious, not to mention embarrassed, by the time we were done there. What I’d give to have a remote control that would make them obey me at the push of a button .

As for Mom’s appointment last week, everything went well, thank goodness. They can’t figure out why she’s seeing blurry so they prescribed new glasses and she’ll go back in 2-3 months for another check up. I hope it’s just that she needed new glasses *crosses fingers*.

I haven’t seen Gramma in 2 weeks. I hate when this happens. I, of course, have asked Mario on his days off to take me to see her but his excuse is it’s his only day off and he wants to rest. Phooey. I’d take the car and go over there myself…what makes me nervous is that I’ve never driven over there and traffic is super busy. But we’ll see. I’m turning 23 on Thursday and I swear, I WILL be getting my damn license this year. With Mario’s help or not.

Speaking of birthday, it feels like it’s not even going to be my birthday yet. We’re beyond broke, so I don’t even know when we’ll be getting together (like the family usually does when there’s a birthday). It just feels odd. I can’t believe we’re this broke. Sure we indulged a little bit last week, but Jesus, we haven’t had to pinch pennies before the next paycheck comes in months. It sucks. Mario also wants to start sending double payments for the Sentra to pay it off already since we only owe $4,000 on it now and then he wants to get a new car. Blah. We can never just NOT have a huge payment to make for a few months.

I had an appointment to go to with Jaylen yesterday and I saw Melissa, an old friend from my 10th grade year of high school. She had a newborn baby with her and I could tell she’d just had a baby because she looked so uncomfortable and tired. I felt like saying hi, but since we sort of had a falling out at the end of that year, I didn’t say anything. It’s too bad that it happened, but oh well. Don’t need those kinds of friends anyway I suppose. It just sucks that MOST of the friends I’ve had in real life have somehow screwed me over or done something to make me lose trust in them. Don’t want to get into that again, so I’ll just stop.

I guess I’ll get back to painting those Turtles.

Women Be Shoppin’

It feels good to sit here without fleas jumping onto my legs. In the past week, the house became infested with fleas; mainly the living room. I dreaded waking up in the morning because I’d HAVE to pass through the living room to get to the bathroom. I’d sprint across as fast as I could and would still have fleas sprinkled all over my legs. It was hideous. So tonight, after Mary got back from going with Yadira and Yazmin to get her top braces done, we collected all the animals, took them to the (empty) apartment, set up the foggers in her house and our house and went to Yadira’s for 4 hours. We ate (nachos!) and watched videos of Angela and of all of their family in general of the past few years.

This morning Mario woke up in a crappy mood, again, which of course put me in a bad mood. I was going to Target with Mary (Mario decided he’d get his shoes later when he had time to try them on and junk), but she didn’t have her van so we dropped Mario off so we could use the Sentra. He was huffing and puffing all the way over there, so I just ignored him. He ended up getting me a Frappuccino and “Q” taco from Circle K, so I sort of forgave him, heh. Bribe me with caffeine and I’m putty in your hands . We dropped him off at work, then went to deposit money at the bank and went to Target. I needed to get Mario some lounge shorts and a new hoodie sweater for myself–perferably in pink–some sleep shorts and two tanks for the stripped collared shirts I bought from JCPenny on Thursday:

They’re sort of see-through, so I really needed those. I got what I “needed” and some extra stuff, too. I sort of went over-board , but my excuse was I haven’t shopped for clothes in over a year. I had no desire to buy new clothes ever since I gained weight, but I said ‘fuck it’ and decided hell, this is me and I’m not going to wear T-shirts (as cute as all my T’s are) forever. So, here’s what I got for myself:

I’m returning that first slip-dress type shirt, since it was too big (tried it on over my clothes at the store) and am debating whether I should exchange it for the Cheer Bear cub or one of the Hello Kitty purses I saw. I’m also returning the pink suede flip flops, since they don’t match any of the “pink” clothes I have. I loved the color, but I figured I’d barely wear them, so I’m going back for the brown ones. I’d get the regular $2.99 pink ones, which would match most of my clothes, but I’ve already bought those same flip flops two years in a row and they end up hurting after a while .

I ended up buying Jaylen a Mega Blocks bus, some Yugioh cards for Eenan, some magnetic picture frames for the fridge from the dollar section and some scrapbooking supplies from the dollar section, too. I couldn’t pass those up . But, I must be stopped. It’s not like me to go psycho when I’m shopping. I was scared to tell Mario how much I spent but he wasn’t mad. He was shocked, but not mad LOL. Speaking of Mario, he’s still not home yet and I need a shower. Jorge is supposed to bring him home. He’s over there right now and they’re trying to figure out how to install Jorge’s new garage door opener. We went over there last night after we left Cata’s get-together (where I was told I looked FAT in a picture, thankyouverymuch), and it was all cool till I was told to explain something and then was VERY RUDELY interrupted. Those who know me, know I could punch someone in the face when they interrupt me. Needless to say, I just shut up and stayed quiet the rest of the night before I said something offensive. That just really gets to me.

Anyway, going to clean up a bit more before heading to bed.

Oops, I Did It Again

I went days without updating again…and that sucks because the darn entry gets super long. But, who cares .

Mario didn’t get out early that last Thursday, which sucked. He hasn’t had a day off. Friday was really laid back too and I spent a lot of time on MySpace. I found two of Mario’s cousins on there and John even made an account. I also saw someone whom I was really surprised to see. Let’s just say it brought back bad memories LOL. Nobody else I actually know offline is on there…where the heck is everyone?!

I picked Eenan up from school that day. I *hate* their new pick-up system. Before I’d leave the house at 3, drive into the parking area (which is too damn small) and park and wait till he got out. Now, I have to leave at 2:30-2:45 (he doesn’t get out till 3:25) and WAIT IN LINE IN THE STREET till they decide to open the gate. Yeah, the street. So we only leave one lane open for the people driving. If for some reason I’m ever late to pick him up, I’m going to be waiting in this ridiculously huge line. Gargh, I just despise that school’s brilliant ideas. At least the new principal didn’t send out a memo like the one from last year did notifying the parents about how the school’s not “responsible” for the kids before and after a certain time.

Speaking of school, and because of another event that happened this weekend, I realized I need to learn to speak more Spanish. I’ve mentioned it a thousand times before: I can understand it perfectly, read it, write it (somewhat) but when it comes time to having a conversation with someone, I fumble all over my words and end up forgetting what I want to say. It’s embarrassing. I’m just about the only parent at that school that doesn’t talk to all the other moms. They all speak Spanish (most ONLY Spanish) — even the moms who are close to my age. That’s another thing, most of the moms are much older than I am. They all gather together and talk to eachother and I just feel uncomfortable standing there so most of the time I wait till Eenan gets out to get out of the car. It’s not super important that I don’t talk to anyone there–I don’t think I’d have much in common with anyone–but I just really need to speak Spanish and that just sort of confirms it.

Anyway, when Mary got home from work we went to watch Pooh’s Heffalump Movie. Aww, it was SO cute! I even cried a little. Lumpy was the sweetest. I just didn’t really like how they didn’t pay much attention to Eeyore . The kids loved it…they actually sat through the whole thing.

We ate at Burger King afterwards, where I had a shrimp salad. I take forever to eat, so while I ate Mary took the boys to play in the play park. After a minute, I start hearing screams and started to worry. When I was done I go over there and sure enough, it was my children screaming . Jaylen had gone up the tubes with Eenan, but he went a different way and Eenan didn’t notice. So when Eenan came back down, he realized Jaylen wasn’t there and started screaming. Then Jaylen panicked and he screamed. Eenan had already gone up twice and couldn’t bring him back down. A little boy Eenan became friends with ended up going up there and leading Jaylen back down. When Eenan saw Jaylen he grabbed him and hugged him. He kept telling me, “I don’t know what I’d do without my Jaylen. I’d be so lonely!” .

When we got home John was already here (I’d left him the keys). We watched videos on big-boys.com till Mario got home and then we got ready to go to Jorge and Maggie’s. Mario brought pizza so we ate, and then went to Mary’s since Andy had come over. Mario and Mary hadn’t met him yet. Everyone thinks he’s really nice–so far, I think they all like him the best (out of the boyfriends Noey’s had).

The boys wanted to stay, so we left. I was so surprised Jaylen actually stayed without me LOL. We drank margaritas and just had a good time at Jorge’s.

Mario left to work the next day and John watched the boys while I went with Mary, Sonia and Yazmin to watch Constantine. I liked it–I like those types of movies. Could have done without some of Keanu’s stares into the camera and the ending could have been faster, but other than that, it was good .

We went to eat at Jesse’s Mexican Food after that and then to Target where I got a Bedtime Bear Cub. They had them on sale for $9.98!! I really wanted Love-a-lot or Cheer Bear but they only had Bedtimes, Funshines and Wish Bears. I want them all now–they’re so adorable !

I got those Hello Kitty stickers on Sunday at Party Universe. I’m already planning a layout around one of them buahaha.

We came home and the house was a disaster. I don’t know *what* John does when he’s “watching” the boys…because it doesn’t really seem like he watches them. The house is in shambles everytime I get back. So that’s what I did for the next hour–cleaned and made the boys help me clean. Mario got home from work, ate and then told me to get ready since Chris was having an engagement party. Chris and their friend Jorge seemed really happy that I went with Mario. They sent me off with the other wives/girlfriends who were all inside. It was one of the most awkward moments of my life. Most of the women there spoke only Spanish (story of my life!) so of course I sat there for most of the 3 hours just wishing the ground would swallow me. I only spoke twice the whole time I was there. Everyone was quiet the first two hours though. If I spoke more Spanish (or they spoke more English) I could have gotten along with them much better. I was just glad it was over when it was but felt a tad bit guilty when Chris and Jorge thanked me for coming and said they’d love it if I’d accompany Mario the next time there was a bar-be-cue or something . I’d love to go, as long as the women and men aren’t separated. It would be MUCH less uncomfortable.

The next day, I saw Mario off to work then went with Mary and the boys to Pet Smart, Party Universe (they have Ninja Turtle stuff for Jaylen’s party!), and then to the longest kiddie party I’ve ever been to in my life. The boys weren’t exactly “behaving”–hadn’t been all day–and the length of the party just made it worse. They had fun the first hour of the party though.

We left the party after two hours (and it still wasn’t over) and I was just so glad to be home. When Mario got home we dropped John off and Aunt Nora gave us some lamps and Mom had left me a bag of stuff. She gave me a Clinique make-up bag with all kinds of stuff . I didn’t get to see her though . She was still at work. We went to rent some movies (Wicker Park & Cellular) and bought Mean Girls for $7! It’s previously viewed, but hey, it works! Then we picked up McDonald’s and chilled out and watched movies. It was nice just being here with Mario.

And that was my weekend. Yesterday was spent cleaning and doing laundry–as is every Monday. Gonna feed Jaylen and myself before we have to go and spend that ghastly hour in line, in the car .
