Alaethia’s Pregnancy Timeline

1st Trimester

4 weeks, 5 days:
May 25th: Started suspecting I was pregnant.

5 weeks:
May 27th: Took pregnancy test–pregnant! Mario is thrilled, the kids are probably even more thrilled. They want a sister and want to name her Daisy LOL.
Starting weight: 121
Ailments/Happenings: Frequent urination. Sore breasts. Hungry more often (every 3 hours). Felt “full” all time. Fatique starts kicking in; falling asleep by 9pm.

6 weeks, 6 days:
June 9th: First doctor’s appointment. Didn’t like that office at all. No urine specimen was given, no labs–only heath history question. Was prescribed Prenatal Vitamins and was scheduled an appointment for 12 weeks later. Decided to switch doctors, immediately.
Weight: 122
Ailments/Happenings:Still falling asleep by 9pm. Frequent urination. VERY sore breasts.

7 weeks, 4 days:
June 14th: Went into my other doctor to get a mole (skin tag) removed. Decided to see him as my new OB. Got bloodwork done and sono done. Everything’s A-Ok.
Weight: 122

9 weeks, 4 days
June 28th: Had another doctor’s appointment. Pap smear–ew! Had urine specimen done–got scared because there was glucose in my pee. They checked my sugar and I was fine (94). Had nitrates? in my pee as well which meant a lovely UTI. Was prescribed antibiotics. Told my weight was great–I’m allowed to gain 25-35 lbs.–eek! Iron was great as well. Had sono #2 done.
Weight: 124 lbs.
Ailments/Happenings: Still no nausea or migraines, thank goodness! Had cramping in my bladder–either due to the infection or the antibiotics.

12 Weeks
July 15, 2006:
Weight: 124 lbs.
Ailments/Happenings: No nausea. 1 sinus headache that lasted 3 days (July 14-16th). Sore nips–OW! Still have acne–though not as bad. Round ligament pain is becoming more frequent and painful, especially when rising from a sitting position. Beginning signs of having to roll out of bed due to ligament pain. I, and everyone else I know, think I’m HUGE for only 12 weeks. Already peeing every hour or less and waking up around 4am. Hungry every 2 hours–ugh.
Belly pic:
I'm actually about half an inch smaller than that since we couldn't find a good angle without a shadow. Wow, my arms look REALLY dark in this picture!

2nd Trimester

15 Weeks 1 Day
August 9, 2006: Found out that we’re having a GIRL!! Dr. C. changed my due date to 1-30-07 according to her size.
Weight: 125 lbs.
Ailments/Happenings: No nausea, thank God. 1 sinus headache that lasted a whole day. 1 migraine headache + nausea. Nips don’t hurt as much but are still a little sore. Acne isn’t as bad. Round ligaments still cause a lot of pain. Had been having heart palpitations and shortness of breath due to a heart murmur but I’m fine as long as I take it easy. Caught a “summer cold” on 8-9-06.
Cravings: Green beans, Cheetos brand Hot Fries, oranges, strawberries.

18 Weeks
August 29, 2006: Had my Triple Screen (AFP) appointment on 8-23-06 at 17 weeks and 1 day. Praying that everything comes out normal. Dr. C. confirmed that baby is indeed a girl. She was moving around and looks “fuller” than she did at my previous appointment, which was only two weeks ago. She’s measuring perfectly. He changed my due date to Feb. 2nd according to her size; so anywhere from Jan. 28-Feb. 2nd. I didn’t get any sono pictures this time since he put them on a CD and it didn’t work :(. I was getting worried because I’d hardly feel her move, but for the past 3 days I’ve been feeling more and more movement. Yay! I missed this feeling :).
Weight: 127.8 lbs.
Ailments/Happenings: Acne is much, much better–meaning I get zero to none now, thank goodness. I’m finally not sleepy all day, but I get tired much easier after say, walking at the mall or cleaning the house.
Cravings: Sherbet ice cream (hadn’t had any since I was little!), cinnamon rolls, Cheetos brand Hot Fries (I can never get enough of these!), limes, frozen Moonpies.
Belly pic:
I just noticed today that this side of my stomach, the left, is much bigger than my right!

21 Weeks 1 Day
September 21, 2006: I forgot completely to ask the doctor about my AFP results, but since he didn’t mention anything I’m guessing everything’s A-OK. Baby again looks “fuller” than she did at my previous appointment, which was three weeks ago. She’s measuring perfectly and weighs approximately 0.8 lbs :). Her heartrate was at 145 BPM, though the monitor read 155. She was moving around (I got to see her little knees, feet and hands!) and Dr. C. said her head’s where my belly button is and her feet are at the bottom of my pelvis. No wonder I feel strange little jolts down there! I had glucose in my urine for the second time, but after checking me with the diabetes monitor it turns out I’m fine. Must have been the chocolate milk I drank in the morning. I’m feeling her move more after lunchtime and A LOT at 11pm. Mario finally felt her kick on 9-15-06!
Weight: 128.4 lbs.
Ailments/Happenings: I thought the constant sleepiness was over and done with but it seems it’s come back with a vengance. Sleeping at night is becoming a task. I’m always hot and MUST have a fan pointed to me. I’m peeing more than ever before!
Cravings: Canteloupe, strawberries, Hershey’s Sundae Pie, baby pickles, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos with pickle juice, lots and lots of water!

These are from a video I took with my camera. Thank goodness, too, because he didn’t give me pictures this time!

24 Weeks 1 Day
October 11, 2006: Had glucose test, where you drink that orange sugary stuff and then get your blood tested. I don’t have diabetes! I was at 116. Alaethia’s heartbeat was at 154 BMP. Have another appointment in a week since I’ve been feeling pressure in my belly.
Weight: 130.5 lbs.
Ailments/Happenings: Pressure in the belly that makes it hard to breathe at times. Sleep is becoming a task–it’s uncomfortable to lay on my back now and I get up to pee at least twice a night. Breasts are tender again and my milk started letting down on Sat. Oct. 7th. Alaethia’s been moving around in more pattern-like intervals, such as after breakfast, after lunch and from 9-11:30pm.
Cravings: Cheetos Flamin’ Hots in pickle juice, cinnamon rolls from Whataburger, tomato soup and grilled cheese, lots of water.
Belly pic:
I look a bit smaller than I did the last time I took a picture.

25 Weeks 1 Day
October 18, 2006: Went in for a follow-up appointment regarding the pressure I was feeling in my belly. Apparently Alaethia’s feet down, head up and so she’s either pressing down on my bladder and pushing her head up into my lungs, or both, hence the pressure. Her heartbeat was at 154 BPM and she’s growing well :).
Weight: 135.4 lbs. (the scale must have been wrong; there’s NO WAY I gained 5 lbs. in one week!)
Ailments/Happenings: Back pain is a daily thing now. I had extreme pain in the lower pelvic area on Tuesday, Oct. 24th, but was fine by the next day. Fatigue is once again as bad as it was in the beginning of the pregnancy.
Cravings: Cheetos Flamin’ Hots in pickle juice, Pepsi, and what I still haven’t gotten: nachos, pumpkin pie and apple pie with whipped cream!
Sono pic:
A not-so-good picture of her head.

3rd Trimester

28 Weeks 1 Day
November 8, 2006: Dr. C. confirmed for the 3rd time that we’re having a girl! He gave me the OK to go clothes shopping for her :). Blood pressure was fine. Urinalysis was fine except for a bit of glucose; my blood sugar was checked and it was at 104 which is great. I realized it’s probably the chocolate or strawberry milk that makes sugar appear in my pee for some reason. Alaethia’s growing wonderfully and she’s already in the head-down position at 7 months like her brothers.
Weight: 131 lbs.
Ailments/Happenings: I’m waking up 3-5 times a night to pee, which has me falling asleep throughout the day if I don’t take a nap after dropping the kids off at school. My belly seems to grow at least half an inch every day. I’m noticing vericose veins on my legs–ahhh! I get short of breath whenever Alaethia stretches herself. My back constantly hurts.
Cravings: Strawberries, pumpkin pie with Cool Whip, Pepsi.

31 Weeks 1 Day
November 28, 2006: Blood pressure and urinalysis were great. Alaethia’s still in the head-down position. I’ve been feeling her little feet in my ribs and tugs around my belly, which the doctor says might be her pulling on the umbilical cord. She’s measuring at 30w3days according to her size although I’m 31 weeks 1 day, which Dr. C. says is fine but it makes me anxious since it might mean she’ll be here later than sooner :P. Although, I would like her to wait till 38 weeks at least! Dr. C. says she’s growing perfectly and confirmed for the 4th time that she’s a girl. From this sono, it looks like she’ll have Eenan’s round face and Jaylen’s lips…and probably my nose. I can’t wait to meet her!
Weight: 133.6 lbs.
Ailments/Happenings: Always tired and sleepy. My back hurts. Still waking up 3-5 times a night. I have to roll out of bed or else I get a shocking pain in my pelvis. My feet don’t swell, but they do hurt so much by the end of the day.
Cravings: Pumpkin pie with Cool Whip, chocolate brownie chunk ice cream, cheesecake ice cream, chilli.
Belly pic:
The picture doesn't do the roundness justice.
Sono pic:
Alaethia's face.

Just as she was reaching towards her face.

Her leg.

Finally! A picture of her little peach!

34 Weeks 1 Day
December 20, 2006: Blood pressure and urinalysis were great, aside from the fact that my urine had glucose in it because of the coffee I had that morning. They pricked my finger to check my glucose and it was fine. Alaethia’s still very much in the head-down position. After taking her measurements, Dr. C. said she weighs approximately 4 lbs. 6 oz. :).

Didn’t like the fact that once again, Dr. C. changed my estimated due date. This time, it’s for Feb. 8th O_o. Although I’m 34 weeks, he said he was scheduling my next appointment, 3 weeks later, for 35 weeks to do some uncomfortable test. I left feeling uneasy. I have no idea why he said I’d be 35 weeks when at that time, I should be 37 weeks!
Weight: 133.1 lbs. (lost 5 ounces O_o)
Ailments/Happenings: Even more tired and sleepy than usual. Feeling full while eating faster than usual, due to my uterus pushing up my stomach. I get short of breath rather quickly, also due to my uterus pushing up my lungs. My back constantly aches and my belly seems “lower” (at 35 weeks). Waking up 3-5 times a night with horrible aching feet. Rolling out of bed kills my pelvis even more now. Feet have been swelling occassionally and still hurt badly at the end of the day. I have varicose veins on the back of my knees (ew) and discovered new stretchmarks around my belly button (which has completely popped out). Lovely. My belly button now resembles a shining sun LOL. Created my registry at Target while I could still walk. We have maybe 30% of everything we need right now. I’m starting to feel a little anxious!
Cravings: Powdered donuts. Pepsi. Snickerdoodles. I still want shrimp and something Italian.

36 Weeks 3 Days
January 5, 2007: Went in for a last-minute appointment for a horrible cold/ear ache I’d developed during the week. Blood pressure was fine. Urinalysis had 250 I-don’t-know-what’s of glucose in it, so they pricked my finger and my glucose was at 160–way too high for me according to the nurse practioner. I’m told I don’t have to change my diet or take medication for it; probably a fluke. Alaethia’s heartrate was great, 146 BPM if I remember correctly. I went in for a cold and ended up swabbing myself (yes, myself) for the Group B Step culture. Waiting for results. Since I had a terrible ear infection, they prescribed Amoxillin, ear drops and for the cough and cold I was on Robitussin DM and Tylenol Sinus. Will start with weekly pelvic exams on Wednesday, January 10th. Ew.
Weight: 134.6 lbs.
Ailments/Happenings: I’m sleepy ALL THE TIME. I’ve gone back to taking my morning naps for an hour to an hour and a half. Still getting full quickly before I even get to finish a meal. Feeling pressure in my belly, but I’m not sure if it’s upset stomachs or Braxton Hicks contractions. My back constantly aches and my belly seems “lower” still. Waking up 3-5 times a night to pee. It’s becoming much harder to walk around–I get tired really easily. Sitting for long periods of time also makes my thighs hurt (kind of like the soreness you feel after doing lunges). Sciatica is rearing it’s ugly head once again.
Cravings: Still shrimp, any kind. Raspberry Tea (which I’ve heard brings on contractions!).
Belly pic:
Mario insisted I take this one with my shirt up for 'a better reaction' LOL. You can totally see my undies through my shorts!

37 Weeks 1 Day
January 10, 2007: Feeling much better from my cold, although it was really cold in the morning so my nose was running again. Blood pressure was fine. Urinalysis had glucose in it again, but when they pricked my finger my glucose was at 115 which is pretty normal for me. Dr. C. was concerned about how high it was the previous Friday, and said I may have developed slight diabetes, even though it didn’t show up in my 1 hour Glucose Test. He assures me again that I don’t have to change my diet or take medication. Alaethia’s heartrate was great, and after checking her measurements (she’s growing fantastically) Dr. C. told me she weighs exactly 6 lbs.! Still waiting on results for the Group B Strep culture. Alaethia’s got enough amniotic fluid and plenty of space to grow still, although I feel very much like she doesn’t LOL. He gave me a pelvic exam; I’m dilated to 1 1/2 to 2 centimeters already. He said he had to “move her head” to get a good measurement since her head’s all the way down there already. Eek! I hope I can stay pregnant till my baby shower on Sunday! She’s still very active at night (from around 9pm to 12am) and likes to poke out her little knees and elbows when I’m laying on my side. I have to sit with very good posture because it feels like she doesn’t have room in there at all to stretch!
Weight: 135.5 lbs.
Ailments/Happenings: Still sleepy ALL THE TIME. Actually not getting as full as I used to feel, probably because she’s “dropped” a significant amount. Feeling little pains and tightening in my belly more often now. My back constantly aches and does this weird “throbbing” thing, almost like my heart’s beating in my back. Waking up 3-5 times a night to pee and I sometimes have trouble falling back to sleep. Very hard to walk around, sort of feels like she’s about ready to just fall out. As of 1/12/07, I started swelling. Woke up at 3am to my wedding rings squeezing my fingers like sausages. Feet now swell during showers and washing dishes. Have been incredibly “regular” lately, if you know what I mean. Sitting for long periods of time still makes my thighs hurt. Getting weird stretching pains right above my pelvis and on the sides of my stomach (round ligament pain again?). May have developed a *cough* feminine infection due to the darn antibiotics I was on for the ear infection. Lovely.
Cravings: Oreos and milk. Raspberry Tea (which I’ve heard brings on contractions!). Ice cream.
Belly pic:
See what I mean about it looking much lower? Kind of a crappy picture since I used the timer and tripod and I've yet to manage to use it correctly.

39 Weeks 1 Day
