My Mother’s Day weekend started a bit early on Friday, with Emmos presenting me with a beautiful magnet frame for my fridge .

We had movie night that night, and I managed to fall asleep during the latest Star Wars movie. The parts I saw were great tho!

I skipped yoga the next day (after much rolling around in my sheets debating how long to “sleep in”) but I eventually got up and got ready…only to sit at the kitchen table drinking coffee 😆 .

I took Emmos with me and we searched all over for the small Peppa plushes for Charlee. They were out everywhere. But we did find this:

For $1.00!! We couldn’t believe it. We searched the isles for more, but again, nothing 😕 .

We did all our shopping and errands and then we got home and I got the 3 little ones ready to go to Charlee’s party. Before we got ready to leave, Julien runs to me and says, “Happy Mother’s Day!!”:

I immediately choked up; I felt overwhelmed and just surprised! I put it on the fridge proudly, next to Emmos’. He brought me a little poem, too, with handprints and a painting of a vase with flowers in it (the buds were his little hands!), but I told him it should be for his 1st Mom. I didn’t know how to take his reaction; I didn’t want to offend him, but I figured she should have something, too, from him. I know I would want to. I did take pictures of him with the poem and painting and I said, “There! Now we’ll both have one!”

So after adjusting my mascara and swallowing down the lump in my throat, we were off 🙂 .

They had so much fun at Sally’s! She always comes up with cute games for them and they love it. And Charlee looked adorable, of course!

I had a great time, too, catching up with Sally. I love spending time with her!

We got home and just as I changed into my lazy clothes, I get a message on Facebook stating that I won a Mother’s Day contest pack from Xquinkles Snack Land!! I never win those social media contests so I was thrilled, and hello?! Who wouldn’t be thrilled over this:

I took half the brood with me; the others stayed home playing video games with Dad 🙂 .

Then we got home and watched The Jungle Book–which I passed out during as well.

The next morning was officially Mother’s Day 🙂 . Jorge woke me up with smooches and told me to stay in bed, so I obliged 😆 . Then he and the girls woke me up and I was greeted by these beautiful, drowsy faces:

My love and the kiddos didn’t make breakfast that morning, but he did bring the next best thing: menudo and barbacoa!!

So we ate, and then I was allowed to lounge around all morning until we got ready to return some stuff (can you believe the tunic I’m wearing in the photo was $5??) and then we went to visit Gramma:

She was doing good, thank God :). She’s recently moved to a new facility, per her request, which shocked us all. So that only means she really didn’t like it at the previous place before 🙁 .

We got home and Aunt Nora and Linda came to visit. Then we lazied around the rest of the day. It was just awesome, and low-key with all the kids, Mom and my love. John was around for a bit, but disappeared to study. We watched Grey’s Anatomy with the kids the rest of the evening until I passed out on the sofa.

As for gifts, I did a satisfying amount of clothes shopping 🙂 . Plus my love got me this:

I had such a great day yesterday, that I actually didn’t mind having to wake up at 5am this morning 🙂 . And dropping the kids off was a piece of cake on our way to school/work and the day went by fast and was a breeze! I even applied for a grant (with my co-worker’s advice, of course!)

It’s my lunchtime and since I ate at my desk the minutes are draaaaging by. Only so many people update Facebook and browsing Instagram makes me want to have a drink (Cinco de Mayo) or go shopping (for 80s toys, clothes, shoes, patio furniture and succulents 😆 ). So that’s not good. Figured I’d post something since I haven’t in a while! I managed to update during my busiest month, and now that I’ve got a TAD bit more time, I can’t seem to find time 😡 . Typical.

I didn’t have to be at work till 10am today so I dropped the girls off at school and went for a jog right after.

The girls and I went shopping last night so I didn’t have a chance to jog last night. We also found these:

Anyway. I don’t think I could ever be a person who works out in the morning. I already wake up at dawn’s crack, but even this morning, when I woke up later and didn’t have to go into work at 8am, I still got to work 8 minutes late 😆 .

Michelle and I are going to Target (buying bins for a work project we have) so that should make the day go by a little faster. It feels like a Friday, but it’s not 🙁 . This was us at our last outing at Target:

Must resist the urge to spend while there! I’m having so much trouble saving money. I think I need to be hypnotized *le sigh*.

My birthweek began on April 11th, by redeeming my FREE birthday coupons!

First, my love took me to Zoe’s Kitchen, where I received a completely free lunch! (Just my Turkey Stack–we purchased Jorge’s meal, and our Hummus Trio 😀 ).

We went next door immediately after we finished eating and redeemed my coupon for my free mini-bundt at Nothing Bundt Cakes! I got the White Chocolate Raspberry for free and we purchased the Red Velvet one. (Even if I’ve got coupons for free stuff, I feel guilty and have to buy something!) Mmmmmm.

I pigged out on it with my love and John at home in the evening and the girls shared the red velvet one. The day’s gluttony sent me into a spiral of guilt, so onto the DREADMILL I went.

I much prefer the great outdoors, but it was dark and Jorge doesn’t allow me to run out there for fear of someone kidnapping me lol, but at least I got to catch up on an episode of Grey’s. (Had I mentioned Jorge and I were fiending for more episodes so we started the entire series over again!) 😆

The next day, April 12th, I asked Sally if I could take her out for lunch, since her birthday is the day before mine, on the 13th. She said instead of me taking her out, we’d take each other out to Cheddar’s and split the check in half (she always does that on our birthdays instead of letting me take her 😆 ). We did our usual catching up during my extended lunch, and feasted on our entree and then a delicious dessert!

I feel sincerely blessed to be able to spend another birthday together with this gal! I love her!

On the 13th, Michelle took me out to Cheddar’s to celebrate my birthday (I could go to Cheddar’s every day!). Jorge and EZ went to celebrate with us, too 🙂 .

The next day, on my actual birthday, my love treated me to Hop Tung, where I had some steak Pho! It’s SO GOOD!

Then later we had cake at work to celebrate!

Mario took the kids to see me after they got out of school, before I got out of work, which I was really grateful for. It was, unfortunately, his weekend with them and we “switch” on Thursdays. Eenan gave me a drawing (like he has for the past few years ?) of Hello Kitty and Emily gave me a My Little Pony for my shelf <3! I went to visit Gramma right after work. We chit-chatted and took some selfies. She's getting a lot better at them, hehe!

I got home and changed into my evening attire (i.e. very casual clothing, heh). Michelle, EZ and of course my love and I were going to Suerte Bar & Grill for Selena Tribute Night. It became a HUGE event! We even had to buy tickets to get in!

It took a bit to find parking, but we met up with EZ and Michelle. It was a weeknight so Sally couldn’t get away 😕 .

By the time we got in, of course, Suerte was packed. So we opted for Thirsty Monkey right behind Suerte (they’re Sister bars), where the celebration was carrying on, too. We walk in and Yazmin is handing out glow sticks and toy mics. I was surprised to see her. It still freaks me out how grown up she is!

So we hang out, and are later joined by Jr. and we watch the (entire) Selena movie at Thirsty Monkey. Michelle and I sing like fools throughout the movie (even before any cocktails were involved 😆 !) and then we order our food and drinks.

It was so awesome to be there with all these strangers just singing out loud and sharing our love for Selena. It was the best!!

When the movie was over, we made our way back to Suerte and there was a LINE outside. We showed our wristbands and we got in pretty fast.

There was music all night, a look-alike contest and even karaoke, but karaoke was taking place at 12:30 and we were already tired and sleepy by midnight 😆 .

It was one of the best birthdays, ever!
