Cleared – 2 Months Post-Op

I had my 2 month follow up appointment with my PS on Monday, the 11th. I dropped all the kids off, texted my bosses that I’d miss our meeting due to the appointment and went to my doc’s office. There were 2 of us in the lobby and they took us both in within 3 minutes of signing in. I got my pressure checked and changed into my gown.

My doc comes in and checks me.

I say, “It looks a little better, right?”

He says, “A little?? This is great! I think you’re ready for your After photos!” So he gets the camera, turns me this way and that and snaps away.

He asks if I have questions and I say yes. I tell him my right nip had been progressively hurting more, but I let him know I was on my monthly. He said it was normal and showed me how to drum my fingers where it hurts. I asked about the odd discoloration around the border of my areolas and he said that’s normal too, and would get better in time. I asked about the dry, tight skin and he said it was new skin coming in, healing from the old allergic reaction. He said my scars looked good. And then I asked, “Can I run again??” And he chuckles and says, “Yes, of course!” We say our goodbyes and he tells me to call the office if I need anything at all.

I was giddy driving to work. I was glad to get a clean bill of boob health.  I even walked on the treadmill on Monday and walked/jogged on Tuesday at the park. It was glorious. I would have to hold my sports bra down when I’d run, or else I felt it creeping up and irritating me.

The girls and I went to Maddie’s birthday party at Pump It Up today. We didn’t get home till 8:30pm and by the time the girls showered and we finished playing with the Snapchat Lenses we were beat.

So no running today :(.

I did this while we watched Grey’s:

And then Jorge and I joined John in the living room and the 3 of us played with the Lenses. And then, as I’m sitting there, I feel a weird sting on the right side incision near my underarm. I feel the area with my fingers and feel a bump and an itch, like a huge mosquito bite. Jorge checks me and says I look irritated, but like something bit me. I checked, and it’s a pretty big, almost perfectly round bump right on the incision. It’s awful 🙁 . And makes me sad. I saw it and it reminded me of when my tubal ligation scar got infected, developed a round bump and then the fluid/pus filled sac ruptured. Ugh. I really hope it’s nothing more than a mosquito bite 😕 . I was so thrilled with my progress 🙁 . Crossing my fingers the hydrocortisone kicks in and I wake up better.

Still need to update about our busy week at work during the beginning of April! Goodnight!

[edit:] It WAS a mosquito bite!! I was back to normal by the morning! Yay!

ALL THE EVENTS

Late March/early April were huge for us at work. In our usual manner, we planned 3 large events in the course of 2 weeks; 2 of them being 3 days apart.

I was stressed, especially with Taste McAllen, which is my baby. We had lots of changes and this new concept was being unveiled for the 1st time, ever. I was praying for the best!

The day of the event just so happened to be the HOTTEST day this spring so far! I couldn’t believe our luck. I felt so nervous and just unprepared, even though we’d stayed late Tuesday and Wednesday to make sure we had absolutely everything we’d need. It’s just my anxious personality, I guess!

We were at the event site since very early, which is probably why I felt like I had heat exhaustion at least twice 😳 . I’m pretty sure my boss had it. And even though we were missing a canopy at registration and our registration staff got all messed up (I ended up at registration!), I have to say, thanks to everyone’s help, the event was pretty close to amazing, if I do say so myself!

The next evening was Music After Hours & Craft Fair. I took a few photos for the Food Park Facebook page and went to Kohl’s to get some jeans for the BBQ the next day (priorities). Lisa told me she and her mom were heading to the food trucks so I rushed back, but I was too late, they were gone. I was kidless, Jorge was still working and it started becoming cold so I got some nachos from Planet Munchies and went home. Since the BBQ was happening at the Food Park, the trucks parked right next to the curb at Archer Park. It gave it such an awesome feel!

Jorge and I hung out at home and then we were up bright and early the next chilly morning! Everyone that had arrived when I did were all buzzing around, cleaning, getting things ready. Then it was time to go to our posts. Mine was at the judges’ room, like it has been the past 2 years. I like it there: air conditioning, time goes by fast, the girls and I are like well-oiled machines AND we get first dibs at pan de campo  !

I didn’t get to get photos of the event, or the food since we were busy, but I got a pic with Michelle and Rosie when I finally made it outside.

We cleaned up and the event was over so I went home and Jorge got home from work and we went to Feldman’s to get some drinks and watch Grey’s Anatomy 😀 .

Our boss took us to breakfast on Monday morning and I got home to these beautiful, adorable faces!

We had Latina Hope Wednesday and EZ, Michelle and I went to Red Lobster afterwards.

Jorge and I went to the Lunchbox on 10th on Thursday, one of our exhibitors from Taste McAllen.

Friday was our golf tournament. I got to be in the Margarita tent this time and it was a blast! It drizzled awhile and became really humid but it was a great day once the sky became overcast.

The girls and me! Don't mind my crazy bun!

It was a great time and whizzed by. I got my dinner burger to go once we were done cleaning up and picked up a botana (per Mom’s request) on the way home 🙂 .

It’a always nerve-wracking before our events (especially when it falls directly under me!) but the end result is usually pretty badass.

Easter 2016

Our Easter this year was pretty low-key, and considering how chaotic work, and in turn, my mind, had been, it was a welcome change. Don’t get me wrong, I adore our wild family, but my in-laws weren’t coming down this time so we opted for celebrating at home.

The tiny ones and I started our Good Friday by going to a celebration at Gramma’s nursing home. We met Linda there. She texted me that they still hadn’t started. By the time we got there and found the location of the party, the egg hunt was over. Still, it was nice to see Gramma having fun 🙂 .

Jorge, Justin and Jules got picked up on Saturday afternoon by their mother so they could spend some time with her for the holiday. When I finally stopped being lazy, I gathered all of the egg-decorating supplies I got a great deal on last Easter and set the kids up on the back porch. Eenan, of course, was taking a teenager nap, heh.

image
There was a melted crayon kit, but it made no sense so we did it our way: by melting a crayon with a lighter 😆 .
image
I made lunch afterwards and then Mario picked up the kiddos. Jorge got home from work and we reluctantly did some shopping for our BBQ the next day. Then we decided we wanted a Michelada, but couldn’t figure out where to go other than Palmview, so we ended up at El Huachinango restaurant. I couldn’t complian about the food (a botana for 2 serves at least 3-4!), or the drink.

image
We woke up the next day, had breakfast and then I worked on the kids’ baskets. I already had all the candies and goodies separated, but hadn’t actually put the baskets together. And Mom wouldn’t let me forget it 🙄 .

image

I was prepping a few things for our BBQ and made a Banoffee pie, and Jorge and Mom cleaned the porch before Jorge and I showered and picked up the kids. We picked them up about 2 hours after we had originally set, but we still ended up waiting a good while longer for Jorge’s boys. But, at least we were on our own schedule.

We got home and prepped the food and veggies. We’d be having burgers, hotdogs and sausages.

The little ones opened their baskets and the big ones opened their giftbags.

Then the big boys, who graduated into Egg Hiders, hid the eggs for the little ones.

It was a great day! Everyone went in to start showering before The Walking Dead and then we readied ourselves to begin the week!
