Whirlwind Wednesday

I haven’t had time to update at all lately. Usually it’s because my days go a little something like this:

Wake up, get ready for work.

Wake girls up, get them ready.

Eat breakfast with girls while packing their lunches and mine. (I had no choice to since I’d be using my lunch hour for appointments, so I’d be eating on the run.)

Drop girls off at school.

Go straight to Mom’s appointment.

Drop her off at home.

Go to work.

Work straight through till 2:50pm (and oh, how it was hectic!).

Snack theoughout the day so my glucose doesn’t drop.

Go to my appointment. I had no idea what to expect with this new clinic our workplace contracted, but it was fast, and to the point!

Go to ATM for Alaethia’s chess tournament money.

Go back to work.

Leave at 4:45pm to pick up Alaethia from chess practice.

Pick up Emily so we could go to Jaylen’s game. (It had been postponed to Wednesday at 4:30pm due to the storm the previous day. We rushed and tried to make it at least to half-time but we only got to see the last 10 minutes :(.)

Take photo of Jaylen.

Go home and start dinner.

Get girls ready for bed and tuck them in.
Workout with hubby (we started P90X3 a week ago!)

Shower.

Pass out.

So that’s it; rushing here and there, not really sitting for lunch as I don’t want to miss too much work. But I do miss lunches with my babe =/. And right when I’m feeling overwhelmed or about to go on a “why me” rampage I start checking off my mental Today I Am Thankful For list. It’s much like this one that was circulating Facebook:

Mom got her hearing aids, finally, and it’a such a huge relief for everyone. It’s so odd to hear her speak so quietly! I, on the other hand, got used to speaking loudly so the girls constantly remind me, “You don’t have to yell, Mama!” Lol

This whole month has been a whirlwind. It’s already mid-October and work is getting to that time of year of perpetual high-stress. Aye, don’t remind me…

You know what? Actually. BRING IT ON.

Labor Day 2015

It’s Labor Day today so I’m off work, woo!

Jorge had to work (boo!) and the kids all had school (double boo!) so I woke up and went on a run. Oh, who am I kidding. It was more of a mostly-walk-then-sprint-till-I-couldn’t-breathe-then-walk-again type of thing, but I got out there, at least! We’ll call it HIIT!?.

I was upset with both Jorge and John last night since neither one of them wanted to go on a walk with me. Granted it was 9pm, but John had gone with me at 9pm Saturday night and we did 6 miles so I didn’t understand what the big deal was. Anyway, I was pumped, and since Mario had to pick photos up for an assignment Alaethia had early in the morning (the kids were with him this past weekend), I figured I should just get up, eat some cereal and go. By the time I ate, got ready (getting dressed, filling my water bottle, putting on my Polar stuff and putting my mane up) and got out there, it was almost 9am, so it was already hot, grrr.

But it was still a nice day, and there was a sporadic breeze. I had a few more stops than usual since nature sure gives me ADD!

And I got tons of steps in and burned a good amount of calories.

I wish I could go on a run every morning *sigh*. I already wake up at 5am (girls wake up at 6:30am) to make sure the girls and I are ready for school and work, to make sure lunches are packed and folders are signed, and to make sure we all make it everywhere on time (have to wake up at 4:30 when the boys AND girls need to be dropped off). So I don’t see that as a possibility. It’s depressing. But I need to keep it up. That’s it. No more excuses. I see people suffer due to slacking off during their 20’s & 30’s and I WILL NOT let it happen to me. I will not take pills all day long just to feel semi-healthy.

So anyway, I got home, had my coffee after chugging my water and now it’s time to shower. Going to pick the girls up after school, possibly take them for yogurt and then head to Jaylen’s 1st football game. Going to make it a great day!

A Late Summer Post

So I just realized I totally published a draft of this post instead of saving it as a draft. Out of practice much??

Anyway, Summer 2015 unfortunately came and went in the blink of an eye.

We didn’t travel much because we’re saving money. Add to that: school shopping for the girls. Then our dryer crapped out (it lived a long life), and then Jorge’s car battery died. But such is life. I’m just truly glad we were able to bounce back from all that instantly!

We did have a trip to the zoo. Julien said he’d never been there so it was a must. The zoo isn’t as…lively as I remember it, but the kids still had fun. And there was a Dinosaur exhibit so Julien loved that :).

We had the Food Truck Park Block Party in June. The kids weren’t home that weekend so it was a welcome distraction. I was getting over the only cold I managed to get this year so I slept a good 3 hours before going in to work that Saturday.

I told myself I would take pics with my co-workers, but we didn’t get a chance AT ALL. It was madness, but a huge success. We were so busy I didn’t even get to snap a photo of the event, so I stole some from the internets.

It was so packed and crazy!!

My goal was to do something fun with the kids at least once a week, and trips to Ben and Jerry’s are always a treat (literally!) and one of my favorite things to do with the kiddos. They love it :).

And although we never got to visit the water park in Pharr, we visited the Splash Park nearby.

The girls did a lot of cooking. I mean tons. Emily could probably make French Toast all on her own, sans the actual cooking on her own part. She’s pretty good at flipping them, though!

Even Jaylen, Justin and Jorgie would get in on the action. Eenan helps stir once in a while, heh.

Fourth of July was a huge hit :). Jorge and I had gone over one weekend while the kiddos were with the other parents to help Javi with the yard so, you know, the place wouldn’t catch fire from the fireworks. We saw some pretty amazing things while we were out there, 2 of them being:

Horned Toad!! Hadn't seen one in about 2 decades!

Dina, Briana and the kids were here for the 4th and Javi was hosting us at his house. We visited Gramma (4th of July is her birthday!) and hung out with her a while before going to Javi’s.

The whole family was there and it was the best!

It was a great time :).

We had a family trip to the beach on July 18th. It was something we’d planned in advance, but we like to procrastinate so the actual PLANNING part didn’t happen till that morning, so of course, everyone was running late.

We stopped for breakfast:

And we had 2 stops at Walmart because we couldn’t find flip-flops in the boys’ sizes. Once we arrived at the beach, got settled, popped up the tent and got allllll the kids slathered in sunblock, everyone had a great time.

After several hours at the beach, we all decided to get going. I love the beach, I just loathe the getting cleaned up part. There are always so many people at the bathrooms. We decided last-minute we’d rent a room and stay overnight. The kids, of course, weren’t happy because they left all their electronics at home, but they got over it and were happy to rest before dinner at Senor Donkey. The kids had their own suite attached to our master bedroom, so it was awesome and we were all comfortable.

We had to stop by the one market on the island to get some contacts solution for me and then we chilled out before we went to bed. I usually can’t sleep at hotels, but I slept like a rock!

We had a great time! Hopefully we can really plan ahead next year and make a week out of it!
