My Routine

Hamburger Helper is surely to become my best friend. I like not having to actually think of what to make for dinner–just tossing everything from a box into a pan (with water, milk, and cooked beef of course). That’s why I have like .5 seconds to actually update.

Wow, this American Idol finale is pretty darn cool. I love the songs they’ve been singing and they’ve had some big stars singing. All the contestants that got voted off sang so nicely. I love how Katherine and Taylor sing–I wonder who’s going to win??

Anyway, I’m learning more and more at work–thank God I can say that and not that I’m a total failure. I was already giving up on myself yesterday since I got kind of nervous thinking they were expecting me to do everything by the 3rd day. I was also starting to feel like I was intruding and being a pest to Emma and Eliza, but Eliza assured me today that I’m doing great and they’re not tired of me LOL. When I got home yesterday John told me his car’s messing up again and Mom told me they found a lump in her breast according to her mammogram. Her doctor says he’s not too worried about it. I’m praying that it’s nothing bad, too.

I already have a meeting to go to next Wednesday at 9a.m. I was nervous since I thought I was going to have to go on my own all the way to Edinburg, but Mr. Y. asked Eliza if she’d accompany me and she said yes, yay!

We found out during a conversation we were having that we’re both 24 and we both graduated a year early and then had our babies. Aww. I sort of figured she was around my age. It’s pretty cool to have things in common.

Work seems to fly by–when I’m busy. There was a span of about 30 minutes where I really wasn’t doing anything and time felt like it just slivered like molasses. But yeah, once lunch gets there it’s all cake after that. I went to eat lunch with Aunt Nora and her friend (that also works there) today. We ate at Lotus–love that place :). I had fun listening to Aunt Nora and Lisa talk and make jokes. I didn’t feel awkward at all :).

I closed the “book” again today. I’m getting the hang of it, even though I had a few questions here and there. I’m so glad that Emma and Eliza are so patient–I think I would have yelled at me to be quiet by now LOL. But I have to give myself some credit, too. I think I’m doing pretty good.

OH MY GOSH, TAYLOR WONNNN!! That’s so cool. I think both of them will have good careers, though. Now that I look at him closely, Taylor’s kind of handsome with that salt-n-pepper hair, heh. My God, they’re going to set him on fire with all those pyrotechnics!

Anyway, I went to the mall to get John’s gift from Mom after work (it’s his 19th birthday!), so I got home late and am barely eating dinner. I didn’t even get to offer my father-in-law food since he’s already in bed. He eats really early. Getting home late kind of messed up my routine…funny how after only two days I already developed a routine. Get up at 6a.m., leave to work, get there at 7:45, work, lunch is from around 11-1p.m., work, get out of work at 5:30 (they like to leave right on time, yay!), get home around 6, relax and spend time with the kids for about an hour. Start making dinner at 7 and get the boys in the shower, get the boys out around 7:30, eat at 8p.m., iron at 8:30, get the kids in bed and take a shower around 9, get out around 9:15 (I’ve learned how to take quick showers!), spend time with Mario and then go to bed at around 10:30-10:45.

So that means that I’m behind schedule. Goody! Time to rush. Mario’s barely getting home so I’m probably not going to spend that much time with him. I can’t wait till my day off on Monday.

I love this! I already get an extra day off. AND I get paid EVERY Tuesday!

Okay, now I’m really going to iron, I swear.

My First Day

Thank you to all you lovelies who’ve left comments on the 2 most recent posts and thank you for the e-mails as well. I’ll be sure to get back to you guys this weekend, hopefully Saturday after work.

Today was such a good day! I thought I almost missed the exit to get to work and cut through 3 lanes of traffic, just to find out I got off one ramp early . Other than that, my co-workers are the best, ever. No joke. They’re all so nice and patient and sweet. Emma and Eliza trained me all day. I learned to file policies, file cancelled policies seperate, how to use the company’s website, the other company’s website, how to take payments, how to do the “book” at the end of the day and other things I can’t remember right now. I actually absorbed most of it! I think I can get the hang of it. I didn’t feel overwhelmed at all. Eliza said I did really good–that she was ready to run out of there by lunch time LOL.

Speaking of lunch, I went to eat with another lady in our department, Janie. She’s really nice, too. We picked up food at Burger King and ate back in the office kitchen with Emma. We talked about food and later we talked about hair pomades and cuts and highlights and all that girly stuff. I love my co-workers!

My feet hurt much less than I thought they would by the end of the day. Those heels I got really are quite comfy :).

It was the cutest thing after work. Both the boys greeted me when I got here and said, “Mama, you’re home! How was your first day?” I don’t know if they were thrilled to see me because they missed me or because they were only allowed to play their video games when I got home LOL.

Okay, Jaylen wants to play Uno before we go to bed and Mario wants to also so I shall go.

I love life right now :).

Career Clothes and Jitters

So I got myself a few pairs of “professional clothing” yesterday at JC Penny. We went to see Gramma first at the nursing home and took a drill, screws and the big corkboard picture collage we made her for Mother’s Day. She loved it and couldn’t stop looking at it :). I hope she gets better soon. She’s had this terrible cough for 2 weeks straight–it’s so bad I’m afraid it’ll turn into pnuemonia. I need to stop by after work (I still can’t get used to saything that) sometime this week and make sure that she’s being taken care of properly. They were supposed to give her a nebulizer treatment the day we were there and of course, nobody ever went. I’m not liking that nursing home more and more, but it kills me to try and move her away from there since she’s made so many friends :(.

We went to JC Penny afterwards and got there just in time to miss the first sale–10% off all items, or something like that. Mom and the kids waited in the car since Jaylen was asleep and John went with me. I tried cute blouses on (over my shirt of course) and he let me know whether I looked okay in them or not. I trust his judgement…he wouldn’t let me walk around looking like a sausage.

I found out another sale was to start at 4 and it was barely 2. I really needed to get these things on sale, as I’m a cheapskate and promised myself and Mario that I’d pay back whatever I spent buying those clothes when I got my first paycheck. I tried on my clothes and the skirt I got fit way too long and the pin-stripped pants that I loved that were supposedly 4petite were more like a 14 (and were the only pair!) so I found two carpis; one in light khaki and the other in black.

I decided to buy everything right then (3pm), get the kids and mom lunch since they were probably tired and bored–poor things, and then go back at 4, return everything and then buy everything with the discount. Pathetic, I know, but smart, too. I asked one of the cashiers about doing that and she gave me the okay so I let her take care of everything.

I fixed the hem on a pair of darker khaki capris and some black slacks. I’ve always wanted a nice pair of black pants and finally found some that actually look right.

You can’t really see the detail on the next black shirt, but it’s almost the same thing as the aqua one. They were having a buy one get one for 99 cents sale, heh.

That’s the outfit I’ll be wearing tomorrow for my first day.

And those are my shoes. I fell in love with them when I saw them and they’re actually quite comfortable for having heels. I wish you could see how nice the clothes actually look. They look all smushed and weird, but they’re actually really cute :p.

I’m not as nervous as I thought was going to be about tomorrow, but everytime I think about it my heart skips a beat. At least I’m not so nervous that I feel that I’m going to barf.

Woo, I just saw the previews for The Devil Wears Prada movie. I knew it was that movie as soon as I saw it. I can’t wait to see it! Well, that’s if I get some time to of course.

Wish me luck!
