My Teenager! And Some New Things

It has truly been a great week :).

Sunday, July 29th

Eenan would be turning 13–YES, THIRTEEN!!–on Monday, the 30th. Since Mario was picking all the kids up on Monday night to celebrate Eenan’s birthday, we decided to celebrate on Sunday instead.

We slept-in somewhat, gave the kids a light breakfast, showered, got the kiddos ready and gave Eenan his gifts:

Celebrating his (13th!) birthday a day early :)

He was happy with his stuff and immediately opened up his sketch book and pencils and got to drawing <3. He's still into drawing, still loveable, still my sensitive boy (but don't tell anyone I told you so, heh). I knew he had to become a teenager eventually, but I feel like it just crept up on me. One day I'm lugging around this chunky, adorable baby and now he's 13 and at eye level with me?? (Ok, we all knew that would happen sooner than later, considering I'm 4'11"!)

Where did the time go!? The past year and a half or so were a blur, considering he’s in his dad’s custody most of the time, so it feels like I’ve missed things; like time’s passed so quickly even moreso :(. It still kills me, but I’m glad most of that whole drama is over for their sake.

ANYWAY.

We braved Golden Corral on a Sunday, because that’s where Eenan wanted to celebrate. During our drive there, several chaotic scenarios played in my head: the long line we were going to have to wait in, losing a kid in the crowd, the insane bill we were going to have with 3 adults and 6 kids, the girls (probably Emily) having a fit in public, one of the kids eating so much they barf. BUT, I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and went straight to the cash register, our bill was half of what I’d budgeted, all the kids were calm and went in 2’s as they picked their food, the girls were very well behaved and ate their food before asking for orange sherbet ice cream cones with gummi bears and chocolate-covered marshmallows, and only Jaylen had a slight stomach ache when we left, heh. Jorge and I even behaved ourselves better than I thought we would :P. Everyone had a great time :).

I’m sad I didn’t get a pic of the kids at the restaurant, but everyone was up and down and just concentrating on eating :P. We got home and we chilled out the rest of the day. I made dinner, we watched movies. It was a great Sunday :).

While we watched a movie, Jorge downloaded a program on his phone and surprised me with this:

Aww! Look at what my honey made!! :*)

It still takes me by surprise how sweet he is !

Monday, July 30th

Eenan’s actual birthday! My big boy chilled out with me while I got ready for work and we had cereal together :).

Most of my work week involved planning for a video we’re working on to promote one of our upcoming events. Other than that, I spent the week covering the front desk during Rosie’s breaks.

I wanted to start taking lunch all week, 1, because if I ever go through with trying to eat healthy, it isn’t going to happen in restaurants. And 2, we spent a SHIT TON of money the week before eating out, going out. We’re blessed and lucky to have these extra funds, but we need to stop spending so much on unhealthy food . I’d like to put that extra cash towards paying off some of our bills!

The only bad part about eating at work is that my day goes by much slower when I don’t leave work for lunch. The crappiest part is not seeing Jorge :(. But we both wanted to start eating better, so we were going to try.

I got out of work an hour early, got some things at H-E-B and then got home to make sure my babies were ready. Mario picked them up and as soon as they left I started making dinner for Jorge, Mom, Jorge’s boys and myself. Then I started on a cake for Eenan. It was going to be a regular round cake, but then I thought I’d try making a Minecraft Creeper cake for him. I risked it being an epic fail since I didn’t have fondant to make it nice, or a square pan to make a cube, but I ended up cutting up a rectangular sheet cake into 4 and dying the batter green :). End result:

Last minute Creeper cake lol

The kids got home as I was decorating it. It’s messy and I thought it was pretty crappy, but the boys were actually impressed, heh. They each started making requests for their next birthdays. They always know how to make me feel good .

Jorge got home and we sang Happy Birthday to Eenan :).

All the kiddos with the birthday TEEN!

My darn flash kept taking too long, so poor Alaethia was struggling to keep her eyes open, can you tell? LOL

Love it!!

He WANTED us to push his face in the cake. Then his face had a black hue the rest of the night LOL.

We told the boys to shut off the video games and watched “Wrath of the Titans”. Of course the girls and I passed out, but the boys enjoyed it :). I love my family ♥!

Tuesday, July 31st

More video planning at work. More covering reception. I believe this was the day I received yet another copy of the final decree of divorce (yep, STILL haven’t signed the Final, despite having our “final hearing” since April 18th!) and I sent back some corrections.

I ate lunch at work and started feeling REALLY ill. Same thing had happened the day before, but this time my eye was twitching, I was nauseous and I had heart palpitations every few minutes. I had been getting a feeling like my heart was skipping a beat for the past few nights, but this time they wouldn’t stop. Michelle said I probably had anxiety. I looked up my symptoms and 80% of what I read said I had anxiety. I didn’t know what I’d have anxiety about. I mean, I worry about bills and stretching our paychecks much more than any normal person should, but it’s the norm for me. Other than that, the only thing I felt might be stressing me out was the fact that we were going to need to get another vehicle soon, since Javi was picking up the F-150 after it being in our possession for a year and a half. Jorge had already had several appointments that his boss had set up with different dealerships, but he wasn’t happy with any of them.

I made it till 4:40pm; almost till 5. I got home, greeted all the kiddos, changed and made fideo with chicken and squash for dinner. During prepping ingredients for dinner Alaethia asked for a piece of watermelon, 2 jumbo marshmallows and a small glass of milk. When the food was almost done, she came up to me and told me, with a squeaky, small voice, that she’d thrown up. I cleaned her up and put her in the bath, all the while lecturing about how I told you, one of these days you were going to eat so much you’d barf!

Still, it didn’t stop her from sitting at the table with all the other kids and eating her entire bowl of fideo, heh. I’m glad she was ok :).

Jorge got home and we ate, and then we sat to watch Gymnastics on the Olympics. He went outside to start skimming the pool and I helped. As we cleaned we talked about the car dealerships and what our options were. We discussed current finances and what was going to be necessary to make a new car possible. And then my eye started twitching and I started getting heart palpitations! I told Jorge, “You see! It’s the car thing stressing me out!” LOL

We swam around with the kids for about an hour. I got the girls inside for a bath in the tub, read them a story and tucked them into bed. Alaethia’s doing great and falling asleep in her room and staying put till the morning. Emily: not so much, heh. She still sneaks off to Mom’s room every-so-often. We’ll get there one of these days :).

Wednesday, August 1st

I managed to eat lunch at work for 2 days in a row…and then Michelle said she felt like having Olive Garden’s soup and salad lunch. That might be healthy…if I could refrain from eating 5 of the delicious bread sticks .

On the way there, Jorge calls and lets me know he’s been having a meeting via cell phone with a guy from a dealership. I talked to him and gave him some info, too, and Michelle and I enjoyed our lunch. I managed to only have 1 1/2 bread sticks *beams*.

My love texted me and let me know we were approved for the car. Now we just needed to get them to give us the monthly payment we wanted. Which we got :). We’d be going in the next morning!

I got out of work and hurried home to make sure my kiddos were ready. I smooched them and helped them get their stuff together and Mario got here for them. I changed and went to Jessica’s to pick up a kitten. Little did I know he was a very tiny kitten and wouldn’t stop meowing and refused to drink from a bowl :(.

I made us some seafood soup when I got back home. Jorge loved it. I have to admit, I wasn’t too crazy about the octopus LOL.

We sat on the sofa and watched the newest Kevin Hart comedy. It was funny, but I enjoyed the one that came before this one a lot more.

Thursday, August 2nd

I had no idea how busy my day would be. As soon as I got to work I started typing out the scripts for the video interviews we’d be shooting that afternoon. Jorge calls me at almost 10am to drive over to the dealership. Jorge’s boss and the guys there really outdid themselves; they helped us out a lot :). The man who helped us last, Augie, was such a sweet man. He kept talking about his wife and was giving us marriage advice, aww. We were done in under 2 hours and got to drive our new BMW to lunch, heh :).

Our new car :)

I know. A BMW. I never in a million years thought I’d OWN one of those, ever!

The afternoon went by fast after we shot our videos at work. I went to Old Navy after work to get Alaethia some jeans since they were on sale. I found myself a cute red top for the pie party at the boss’ house that night. And then I waited in line for close to eternity.

I waited for Jorge to get out of work, and then for my black cardigan to dry in the dryer. We finally made it to the boss’ house at 9pm (in our new car, woo!), had a slice of blueberry cheesecake and a slice peanut butter pie. I’m proud of myself for only having 2 slices; I’m pretty sure I had about 5 last year, heh.

We were polite and sat for a while but left since we didn’t know any of the guests. All my co-workers had already gone home. I found out some of them were talking about me earlier that day, so I can’t say I was sad that some of them weren’t there, grr.

Jorge and I got in the car and decided to go to Cigar Bar for a few drinks since it was early. We laughed and watched Olympics and took pics. We even ran into Karina at Delorean’s next door :).

<3

Yay!! Kary!!

It was a great night :).

Friday, August 3rd

Friday felt like such a long day for me, probably because I stayed in for lunch. One of the highlights of my day was when Nancy, my first boss at my current workplace, told me she knew it was me in the bathroom stall next to her when she looked down and saw turquoise toe nails and tall fushia wedges, heh. As we walked down the hallway she says, “You are JUST DARLING. Hey…do you have a boyfriend?” When I blushed and answered yes she said, “Shoot. Of course you do!” And began to tell me how she met this rich, handsome young man and wanted to find him a girlfriend and I was the first girl to pop in her mind. I guess that’s a pretty nice compliment, heh!

I’d bought one of those Deal of the Day coupons so Jorge and I had a dinner date at La Jaiba and I couldn’t wait :). I love our dates :).

I tried calming the tiny kitty down when I got home. He’s so screamy and loud :(. And he scratches and has razor sharp teeth. I can tell I’m getting old, because when I was younger I had no qualms about staying up all night with kittens and puppies and keeping them quiet and entertained. Now, I have no patience!!

What have I gotten myself into D: !!!

*sigh*

My love got home and we got fancy for our date :). There was an insane amount of food, and it was all so good :).

Ay Dios mio. This is way too much food!

We joked and laughed and he reached across and rubbed my hand and said, “We need to continue to do this. Spend time with the kids, have friends over, but once every week or two we should have a date where it’s just US.” I agreed :).

We wanted to watch a movie, so we stopped by a Red Box. We decided, after flipping through selections, that we’d just rent “American Reunion” from DirecTV. I’m so glad we did; it was hilarious :).

I was going to finish writing about Saturday, but I’ll finish with that later. I’m sleepy. I’m going to go and enjoy a full night’s sleep without heart palpitations :).

Family Time <3

After successfully eating a Ramen noodle cup yesterday around 4pm (well, about half) and feeling less nauseous than I had all day I cleaned up, did some laundry and then started on dinner when Jorge got home. I made cubed chicken in a tomato gravy and Mexican rice. The boys and Jorge positively loved it.

Chicken & Rice

I had a spoonful of each…and felt just fine, thank God! I wanted something other than oatmeal or yogurt or a Special K bar for breakfast the next morning, and while I’d been looking for my ingredients for dinner I came across a can of condensed milk that was about to expire, so I made some atole de arroz, with extra cinnamon. This made Jorge not even try it, since he’s majorly against cinnamon. The boys on the other hand, loved that, too!

Atole de arroz

I had a couple spoonfuls and felt ok afterwards. The boys wanted to get in the pool and asked, “Are you getting in with us today, Yajaira?” I thought about it and said, “Yeah, I’ll go in today.” They cheered a unanimous Yay! and we all changed and got in.

Jorge and the boys played and I hung out near the steps, enjoying the warm water and the breeze on my face. The gentle “waves” caused by the playing boys were causing me to get nice and sleepy. I imagine that’s how a baby probably feels while in utero :).

We got out, showered and headed to bed. I read to make myself sleepy. I only woke up once, which is great!

We got ready for work, I gathered my stuff (breakfast, sweater, bag) and Jorge and I drove to work together :). I ate my atole and coffee (I had to) and felt GREAT! Thank you, Lord!!

Work went by fast. Michelle and I headed to lunch to Siempre Natural, where we met Briana and Jorge and his co-workers. I had a fideo and some lemonade, hoping it would go easy on my stomach. It did; I felt great all day.

We chit-chatted, went back to work and the afternoon went by fast, especially when our intern, Kristina, and I started talking about friends/acquaintances we know mutually. Seriously, 2 hours have never gone by more quickly!

5 o’clock rolled around and I ate my PB&J sandwich and drank my water as I headed to pick up my babies for the week. I was thrilled to see them. Alaethia had me get down and visit with their (real life) goat, who was terrified of me. Mario’s dad said hello, which is something that hasn’t happened in almost 2 years!

The kids and I went to HEB, then Dollar Tree for some pool accessories. Then we came home, the kids admired the pool, I got Jorge’s clothes together and we went to his work so he could change.

I had an awesome kids-eat-free coupon from Chili’s, so we got a pretty awesome deal! I love those!

The manager was nice, but kept bashing the Nolana Chili’s, which we found weird. Regardless, our waiter was great. He was attentive, fast and super nice.

Dinner with the family

Jorge wanted a drink, but then he said no so I ordered it anyway. It was so pretty and actually tasted like a Margarita!

Coronarita

Mmm, cajun chicken pasta

We finished our food, were pleased with the check (heh) and we came home. The kiddos got ready as quickly as possible since they wanted to get in the pool. We had a little line of children waiting while Jorge skimmed the pool. Stupid pool cover keeps flying off and into the pool so it keeps getting dirty .

We got all the pool stuff out there (water guns, floaties, toys) and had a great time swimming and playing :). Alaethia was really nervous, and was the first to get out and chilled out with Mom on the porch. Emily was having a blast and paddled around in her donut floatie, giggling away. The boys…were being boys LOL. They were “shooting” each other and chasing and just having fun. It was great :).

They got ready for bed, brushed teeth and we put them to bed. Now I’m in my robe, typing this up and feeling like I have a sore throat and ear infections. WTF?? I hate to think this is what’s happening, but I think I’m getting sick so much all of a sudden because I stopped taking my acne antibiotics. I’d been on them since March 2011 because my acne had become quite awful. I hadn’t been sick AT ALL since March 2011. I’d been trying to wean myself off of them the past few weeks, but not only has my acne returned (though not as bad as before) and I’ve had a stomach bug and now feel like I’m getting a cold. I refuse to get sick! So needless to say, I started the pills again tonight *sigh*.

Jorge is passing out without me so I’m going to join him. Now I’m getting chills. 6 pound 8 ounce baby Jesus, help me!!!

Pools, Showers, Bugs & Projects

We woke up around 10:30am yesterday. We started watching a movie with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, “The Stranger”? I dunno which one, but I’d never seen it before and it was good :). I felt lazy, but finally decided to get up and make something to eat. It was almost noon!

Mom kept reminding me all day Saturday that I should really go to the groceries. I kept waving away her suggestions, saying, “Yes, we’ll go later…” and then the guys started arriving for Fight Night and we never went.

So it was no surprise that there was hardly anything to cook the next morning, heh. I couldn’t make my love his Sunday omelet, but I did whip up some scrambled eggs with weenies, onion and tomatoes :D. I made myself some French toast (I was craving the ones we had at the hotel in Austin :P). I didn’t even have sugar or Splenda for my coffee, but we had some orange juice :).

We chilled out a while in the living room. We watched TV and then decided to take a dip in the pool. We spent a good hour in there, admiring our work: the very leveled ground, the sturdy metal frame because of said level ground. We got out and showered. I was debating whether we should grocery shop afterwards or if I should just start getting ready for Dayse’s bridal shower. When I checked the time (and subtracted the time it takes me to blow-dry and flat-iron my hair) I decided to get ready for the shower. Jorge said to leave him the list and he’d go himself. He said, “I might screw it up, though, and spend more than I should.” I told him he’d be fine, but was sort of worried he would buy more expensive stuff since I usually spend more when he shops with me, heh.

I got ready, GPS’d the address and went on my way. Halfway there I realize my darn phone is dying. Great. I call Jorge and warn him, in case he tries to get ahold of me and it isn’t on. It’s also for his peace of mind, because in his previous relationship he would usually get the I’m going out. Oops, my phone died and then wouldn’t get an answer till the next day around 3am. Which of course wouldn’t happen with me, but the last thing I want him to do is worry, because I know I sure as hell wouldn’t appreciate that.

So I finally find Dayse’s mom’s house. Our other friends didn’t seem to be going, so I already felt awkward when I stepped in and saw not one familiar face. The girls that are there are all gorgeous and tall and in dresses. I’m short, even with my 4-inch wedges on and I was wearing jeans and a black tank with crocheted straps. Dayse is a total doll; she looked gorgeous in her beige lacey dress and purple pumps. Her sister and mom did a fabulous job decorating; the centerpieces and sweets table were super cute. I’m sad I didn’t get a photo!

Dayse and I caught up for a while and when other guests began to arrive and she went over to mingle, I texted Jorge, who was grocery shopping after picking up his boys. We exchanged a few texts and I admit I started a small argument. Over nothing. It was stupid. But we argued and then my phone died. Just like that. Without any type of apology on my part, or an I love you or anything. Needless to say, I ate in silence (the food was great, by the way) and I tried being pleasant but I wasn’t in such a great mood.

We played a few games and had dessert. I stuffed my face. I hadn’t had so many sweets at once in a long time and I instantly regretted it. We took pictures, chatted a bit more, and then I excused myself around 7pm.

I didn’t know how I should react when I got home. I felt stupid for starting the argument and didn’t know how to apologize. I charged my phone as soon as I got in so that I could call my kiddos. 2 texts from Jorge came in. One was him being sarcastic and the other was him asking for Mom’s card’s Pin number. Oops. I’d totally forgotten to give it to him! I was afraid to ask how that whole thing went about.

I talk to my kiddos and then go to the kitchen to get some water. Jorge is starting on dinner. When I notice he’s almost done I put my arms around him; a feeble attempt to make amends. He reciprocates and hugs me tight. I say I’m sorry. He begins to tell me about the drama show that followed after he couldn’t get ahold of me to get Mom’s Pin. Then he called Mom and she couldn’t remember her Pin either. Jesus LOL.

He tells me he doesn’t like to fight with me. I tell him I’m sorry, again, for starting the argument and I hate fighting, too. We snuggle up together on the sofa and I read my book. I’m halfway through “Heart of the Matter” by Emily Giffin :). It’s pretty good!

I passed out reading and Jorge woke me around midnight so we could go to the bedroom. I washed up for bed and then had the hardest time falling asleep. I checked at least 3 times to make sure my alarm was set right. I wanted to make sure I’d get up on time. Nothing would be worse than going back to work late the day after my week’s vacation. Especially on a Monday *shudder*.

I tossed and turned, a lot. Then I wake up at 5:53…half an hour earlier than my alarm was set . I hate that!

I had enough time to shower, fix my hair, iron and get my breakfast and lunch ready. I headed to work, made it on time and Anabel told Rosie and me about how her iPhone was stolen from right under her nose this weekend. We had our meeting, got our weekly pep-talk and inspirational words from our boss. I went upstairs and made my oatmeal with cinnamon and honey and had my French Vanilla coffee. I got my “bills” together and got signatures so I could submit them. I worked on some lists for upcoming events. And then my love told texted me that he missed me and to meet him at Dai-Tung for lunch. I love seeing him during the day!

We had lunch with his buddies, Remi and Marco. I ordered shrimp and mushrooms and steamed rice; same as the last time. The first shrimp I bit into had the little vein, bleh, so I checked every shrimp after that. They were all clean and good.

My love snuggled me right before I was about to leave. I felt instantly comfy and sleepy, just like at home, heh.

I got to work and I started feeling weird. Stomach ache that turned into stomach pain. And then I felt severely nauseous. I had a mini-meeting with my boss about changes to an event, did a certificate, and then prayed that I’d make it the rest of the day. I made myself some manzanilla (chamomile) tea to help me feel better.

My short-term goal was make it till 3pm. Then I made it till 4, so I stuck it out till 5.

I browsed Pinterest and found these beauties:

I sent Jorge a text with the links. He said our old pallets, the ones that have been there since we moved in, were too ugly LOL.

I got out of work (made it till 5!) and Jorge told me to wait for him. So I drove the few blocks over and read my book while I waited. A weird, homeless-type man came up to my window and asked me to roll it down. HELL NO, I was not about to do that. He gestured that he wasn’t from here and someone crashed into him. I shrugged and mouthed ‘sorry’ and read my book, hoping he’d go away. He did. I text Jorge to tell him and he quickly comes out of the store to see where the guy was. I said it’s ok, he left, but he goes in the direction the guy went anyway. And when I turn to see where he went I see it: a glorious mountain of brand-new pallets near the huge green garage bin. I text him about this treasure and he texts back “LOL”. I laugh, and continue to read. He runs out and asks how many we’ll need for the projects, I say 8. He drives his truck over there and puts them in the bed of the truck. Oh, how I love that man!!

So that’s our weekend project :). If we can get to it with 6 kiddos here :). I can’t wait for them to be back!

I made dinner when we got home and spoke to my babies. OH! And I received a call from one of the assistant managers from the Walmart where we waited for 45 minutes on Thursday. He called to apologize. Of course, when I returned his call, I was put on hold 3 different times for a total of 15 minutes, but I left him a message. I commend Walmart corporate for being on top of their customer’s comments and letters!

I made the mistake of eating a full bowl of fideo with ground turkey and tomato and onion. And I drank some pomegranate green tea. I immediately felt awful again!

Jorge and the boys wanted to get in the pool. He said, “C’mon Baby, go change!” I tell him I’m feeling gross still. He asks at least 3 more times if I felt good enough to join them, but my stomach’s been churning since dinner and now I have this weird pain in the pit of my stomach. I hope I’m ok by morning .

We’re watching some low-budget “Zombie Apocalypse” movie and Jorge and the boys are eating popcorn. I really want popcorn, but I don’t want to feel nauseous before bed :(. I’m going to ignore them and browse Pinterest some more. And since I didn’t have any other actual photos to post, I’ll leave you with a pic of this ferocious beast, basking in the sun :).

Basking
