Up and Down

As we’re sitting out here on the back porch, just the two of us (“Father of the Year” kept Emily tonight to “spend time with her”…shouldn’t that have been done yesterday?) I swear it’s becoming more hot and humid as it gets later. That’s just so wrong!

My babe’s playing Angry Birds and I’m STILL having to change settings to private on different media because Psycho can still get into my stuff. You’d think these people got what they wanted (freedom, pity), why are they still being pests?

ANYWAY, that’s neither here nor there. It was such a long day, but usually that’s how Mondays go. This one event I’m working on is becoming a bit…discouraging. It’s not something a lot of people really have an interest in, so it’s super hard for me to find sponsors/players. I’m hoping some of the bigwigs from last year step up and save this event. I’d hate to be co-in-charge of something and have it fail :(.

As for this weekend, it was great spending time with all the kiddos. My days really were a blur of cooking, snacks and cleaning, but it was great nonetheless. The kids finished their first week of school and they all did pretty well. Alaethia was amazing, but I already knew she’d be great. She really is an independent little diva, even though THOSE PEOPLE try and hinder her. I’m so proud of her :*).

I went to her first day of school, which was incredibly disappointing for the fact that they had all the little pre-kinder kids quarantined in the cafeteria so they could be ripped from the parents as soon as we stepped in and they were quickly ushered to their teacher. The principal shooed us all away and said, “You’ll just make it worse if you stay here…” Awful, awful people. Didn’t even get a decent picture!

My baby on her first day!

My babygirl!!

We were sitting outside Friday night after one of my babe’s friends came over to visit and left early. He saw a HUGE disgusting-looking possom and commenced to throw stuff at it, smack it with a rake, poked it with a broomstick and then–WAIT FOR IT–severed the poor thing almost in half with a shovel. I have to admit, it was nasty and sick looking, probably had rabies, but it was quite a horrifying thing to see :(. I sat there, wide-eyed and staring at him and he says, “You’re not gonna leave me in the morning, are you? I’m not gonna wake up and all your stuff’s not gonna be gone…right?”

I couldn’t help but laugh. I wasn’t that freaked out, but I did state that it was a little psychotic of him to go apeshit on the animal =\ LOL. Still, I’m glad our kids and the kitties of the neighborhood are safe.

I dropped off my babe at work on Saturday since he’d be getting out really late. I spent Saturday morning paying bills (yay, not!). Grabbed a cappuccino (which was amazingly, surprisingly good!) from Target, where I went to get hair ties since mine popped >_<. Went a few stores down to pay a bill and then came home. Started on lunch, went with Emily to supposedly only return the kids' library books but she begged to get some more so we did. Back home and cleaned more. Watched the kids watch Ghost Hunters while I did laundry. It was super cute how mesmerized all of them were! I got ready to pick my babe up and stop by Kohl's after that. We'd scored $45 in Kohl's cash after we did the kids' back-to-school shopping and they were having a great sale so we were TOTALLY gonna use them. He was running late, so I stopped by Kohl's first. With our allotted amount, plus 20% off I scored a tee & polo for my babe, a cute sundress for me (why can't all cute dresses be $8!!?), a dress for work, a blouse for work and some bangles :). For practically FREE!! We picked up dinner and then chilled out the rest of the night. I've been so sleepy lately it's not even funny. I'll be watching a movie with the kids and there I go: ASLEEP. Sunday was a lazy morning (love those). I seriously spend about 70% of my weekends in the kitchen. I made some pretty darn good omelets for breakfast (John came to visit for a bit. Actually, no. He came to do laundry LOL) and then I made possibly the best bacon/turkey club sandwiches ever. Too bad I didn't buy another packet of bacon; 3 of the boys asked for seconds!! And we were so hungry I didn't get a picture, either, heh. We did things around the house and by afternoon got all the kids to bathe LOL. It seriously takes about 2 hours, what with the "Turn that game off and shower!" and "Ok. You've been in here long enough. Time to get out." LOL The day just went by too quickly; by the time we knew it we had to drop the kiddos off :(. My babe and I met at Red Mango afterwards. We watched some of the game (yep, he's totally gonna get me to start watching LOL. I'm not into it, but it makes him happy so... :)) and then we decided to cook. Of course we'd be missing something so we went to Walmart and got our ingredients and then came back and cooked. By the time we sat down to eat it was 10:30, blah. BUT. The food was totally worth the wait.

Yes! More food pictures!

Jorge is now doing crosswords on the iPad. I swear it’s not because he’s waiting for me to finish this :P.

Man, it’s lonely and quiet without the children! Let me see if I can drag this man inside to watch a movie :P.

Eenan’s 12th Birthday & A Productive Day!

Finally getting around to updating! Lots has gone on in the past few weeks: our little vacation, drama, work, stuff around the house, spending as much time as we can with the kiddos…it’s been great and busy. I need to rewind soon and get all that on here. And now I can since Roadrunner FINALLY did something right! Maybe this upcoming weekend :).

For now, I’ll post about the past few days. I picked up my kiddos Thursday night and rushed home to change since my boss and his wife was having a Pie Party. It wasn’t my immediate supervisor, it was the CEO, so we *had* to go. And I wasn’t about to pass up free pie! I followed Michelle and Rosie over there and had pecan pie, banana cream pie with chocolate ganach (sp?), and frozen peanut butter. SO, SO good!! And I’d been doing so well with eating healthy and avoiding sweets. I’d lost 4 pounds, and amazingly, even after that night of gluttony (and the morning after, when I had leftover chocolate cream pie and more frozen peanut butter for breakfast!) I’ve kept them off.

I made chicken Alfredo with wheat pasta that night…and was totally going to jog on the treadmill…but the kids wanted to watch a movie, so we did, and I fell asleep with them on the sofa. Oops.

I had a busy day at work Friday. The day went by really slowly. I came home and made fideo with ground turkey instead of ground beef. Came out pretty good, kids couldn’t even tell the difference :).

Jorge got home and we cleaned and got laundry started. Friends we hadn’t seen in a long time arrived, followed by Junior, Rick, and three of his co-workers. We waited for the supposed rain we were supposed to be getting from the tropical storm heading northeast, but got NOTHING! The girls joined us outside while the boys watched a movie. Emily was being a complete doll; everyone loved her :). She did excellently with her potty training that night. She eventually fell asleep in my arms and I got to lay her down. I wasn’t expecting any company that night, but I had a great time!

I spent the next morning being lazy. Didn’t even get up to make my babe breakfast, but he said it was fine :). I still had to wake up early to make the kids breakfast, though. I was woken up by Emily whispering, “Mom…they’re eating cereal without me.” Awww LOL! I made them pancakes and made sure everyone bathed so they’d be ready for when Mario and Mary picked them up. It was Eenan’s 12th birthday (!) and they were picking them up to take them to a movie and for lunch.

John was coming over and I was out of pancakes…so I whipped up another batch, from scratch :). I sipped my coffee while I worked out this week’s bills and expenses and then John came over. We chitchatted for a while and then I ran some errands, including groceries, which I loathe. I got home and made Eenan his Reese’s Peanut Butter Cupcakes, which he requested.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cupcakes

My babe got home, he took a nap and I woke him up 2 hours later since the kids were bouncing off the walls from impatience. I’ll give them credit; I thought they’d break after an hour, heh.

We made our way to Zuzhi, where Eenan loves the Gyoza (pork potstickers) so much he requested to go there since we went for my birthday. So we obliged.

Silly

The kids were amazingly well behaved, even though Jaylen whined occasionally about how long the food was taking to get to the table and he kept arguing with Alaethia about switching seats to be next to me. Ay, these kids!

I’d put a diaper on Emily, just in case of an accident, but she still remembered to ask to go when she needed to. I’m so proud of her :)!

We sang Happy Birthday to Eenan and the kids had cupcakes. We came home and the kids put on a movie. My babe went to get snacks and I, of course, only made it a few minutes before completely crashing out with both baby girls in the big cuddle chair.

I made pancakes the next morning and my babe went to get his boys. I made breakfast for the adults (chorizo and egg tacos on wheat tortillas) and then my babe and I went into turbo mode, cleaning the whole house. He really outdid himself; he swept, mopped, cleaned the entire master bathroom, sorted laundry (correctly), washed, dried, hung clothes, ran a new cable line, mounted the TV, assembled Emily’s bed, helped me rearrange the girls’ room, hung a frame in the dining room, cleaned the vent and air filter, vacuumed, cleaned the catbox, went grocery shopping with me and BBQ’d for us ♥!!

All in a day's work!

I cleaned the living room, swept and mopped all the other rooms he didn’t, did some laundry, and scrubbed the entire kitchen. It feels so nice to walk around and see our hard work :).

We took Eenan to Target so he could spend the cash I gave him and we got a few other things we needed for around the house. We got back and Jorge started the fire. Billy came over and I spent a while outside with the girls. We ate, I let the kids play for a while longer before getting them all to bed. I was beat. It took 3 stories and 2 lullabies, but the girls FINALLY both slept in their room! Alaethia used to do so well in their room, but she regressed because she STILL sleeps in Mary’s or Mario’s beds, which pisses me off like you could not believe. Emily even whispered to me, “Mama? The Cucuy is going to come for Alaethia because she’s not behaving. The Cucuy won’t come for me, right?” Awww! She’s the sweetest thing LOL.

We took a shower once the girls were in bed…which meant that I wasn’t slipping into my sheets till 1:45am. Alaethia woke up once and I tucked her in again and they both stayed asleep all night. I’m so proud of them!

Needless to say, I had such a hard time getting up this morning I got to work 6 minutes late. Amazingly, I didn’t get scolded for my lateness. I can never seem to get there on time for our Monday morning meetings.

I had a stressful day with those darn golf tourney letters. By the end of the day, Michelle and I had almost broken the printer; it was driving us nuts.

I rushed to the ATM, Target for Eenan’s gift from mom, and then to get gas in the van. Mario called in the afternoon, saying he was working late (uh huh, sure. His work isn’t open till 7:30-8pm. Can we say gym?) so his mom was picking up the kids. Mom has an appointment tomorrow so she wouldn’t be here to watch the kiddos. I’m gonna miss them :(. I get them back on Thursday =\.

I made lunch for mom, Jorge, the boys and me. I meant to watch Weeds since the house is clean and I had absolutely nothing else to do…but I found things to do here and there and ended up not watching Weeds and cleaning, hehe. My babe picked up his boys and here I am, with a few more minutes to myself. I can’t believe I’ve actually blogged! And now, before my babe picks up our free movie from Redbox, I shall publish this post and watch a few eps of Weeds :).

Communication is Key

Today was one of those typical Mondays: rushing around in the morning to get out and get to work on time, Monday morning meeting, and catching up with weekend gossip. Of course that meant retelling the story of the Ghetto Cat Fight to my nearest and dearest. Sent out email invites for my upcoming event (upcoming as in November; have to prepare months ahead) and by the time we knew it, it was lunch time.

My stomach was feeling weird; I didn’t even have an appetite in the morning and I felt simultaneously queasy and hungry, but I got to meet up with my babe which always makes my day better :). On the drive to Subway we talked about some things. I moped because some things weren’t what I wanted to hear and we somehow ended up in an argument. An argument that made me lose the little appetite I had and caused him to lose it, too. It was just a horrible situation. We gathered our things as the waterworks started (and a lightbulb just went off RIGHTNOW. It’s the week before Mother Nature makes her visit. Now my moods make sense!).

I was so upset I couldn’t make myself go back to work. Not to mention my stomach felt even worse. My hours are still being cut this week at work and I’d asked my boss if I could just take Friday off (which I was taking off anyway because it’s the start of my vacation) and use those hours during that day instead of leaving early/coming in late. But I used 4 of those hours today. I came home and tried to just sleep off my mood and my tummy ache. My babe began texting me and we talked about what happened and then he called and we talked some more until we cleared everything up. I’m so glad. I hate fighting, arguing. We agreed since the beginning that we wouldn’t turn into THAT COUPLE.

Once we made up and were fine, I passed out completely till 5:20 when my babe called that he was on his way home. I was thrilled. It was the perfect day for him to get home early. We snacked on our leftover Subway and then I started actual dinner since the girls and Mom hadn’t eaten. We ate a little bit of that, too (my stomach was still bothering me but I’m fine now, thank GOD) and then we sat in the garage enjoying the surprisingly not-boiling evening while we waited for Mario to drop off the kids. Of course he wouldn’t remind the boys to bring their things (they were even barefoot) so they visited for a while and then they left with him and the girls stayed with us. They watched movies with Mom and had popcorn and shakes and we’ve been in the living room watching TV (I just remembered I have more laundry to do!) and just having a really low-key, normal night. All is right again and I’m so glad!
