Always on the Go

I’m going to love tomorrow. So far, I have absolutely nothing planned, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been out and about since Friday.

Mario accompanied me to my doctor’s appointment on Friday morning. Mom watched the boys for us. It took forever for them to call us, but I’d rather they take long calling us than having to spend all that time driving to another doctor. We found out I’m 7 weeks along (since Saturday) and my estimated due date is January 28th. Since Mom and Dad both have diabetes, my next appointment’s going to be the one where they give me that really sweet orange drink and check me for diabetes. They usually don’t do that till the 28th week or something like that, but I guess since both my parents have it they’re doing it the 12th week.

I won’t be getting a sonogram till 16 weeks and oh my gosh, I can’t wait! I can’t wait to just hear the heartbeat; I’ll hopefully get to hear it on the dopplar (sp?) during my 12th week appointment. Just like my other pregnancies, it won’t feel totally “real” till I hear that heartbeat.

It still catches me by surprise that I’m pregnant. I can’t believe it. And as the days pass, I’m getting more and more excited about meeting this little person. Mario’s super thrilled. I didn’t think he was going to be as excited as I am, but I find him talking about the baby whenever we’re having a quiet moment :).

We had Whataburger after my appointment on Friday, then went to watch Cars. I LOVED it! Mader was adorable :). Larry the Cable guy’s hilarious to begin with so he did a great job as Mader. The kids loved the movie, too. Jaylen ended up falling asleep at the end of the movie since it was sort of long, but he was all into the parts he got to see.

We went to Wal-Mart afterwards but I can’t really remember for what.

The next morning was Matthew’s Baptism. Jaylen was the only one who went with me, Eenan didn’t want to go. There were SO many Baptisms–I didn’t know they did mass Baptisms like that. I swear, there were like 20 babies/kids waiting to be Baptised.

I brought Jaylen home so that mom could watch him while I paid some bills. John went with me to the mall so I could pay my JC Penny personal plan payment and then we walked around. I tried looking for something for Mario for Father’s Day, but that boy doesn’t drop hints at all and he’s so picky I can’t just *pick* something for him.

We got hungry so I got a strawberry/banana smoothie from Frulatti Cafe and then we ate at McDonald’s. We came home and then I got the kids ready for a graduation dinner Mario’s aunt and uncle were having for their son, Oscar. I was sort of jittery about going, since I expected Mario’s grandma Ofelia to tease me about having a third child. (She had 14 herself–wow!) Everyone was really excited about the pregnancy, though! And we also found out two of Mario’s cousins are expecting as well and one of them’s having TWINS! Craziness. I start freaking out a little thinking, “Oh God, is it a possibility?! Maybe that’s why my pants already don’t fit!” But nah, I think twins are a zero to none possibility for us.

The food was great at the dinner, the presentation was sweet, and the kids behaved exceptionally well. Mary was a lifesaver and picked up crayons and coloring books at the Dollar General before we left for the party. Everyone was impressed with how well behaved they were.
If only the little boogers were like that all the time!

I went with Mary and Noelia to Cindy’s bridal shower the next day. It was at a really nice restaurant. The games were all entertaining and the whole atmosphere at the restaurant was just really nice. They had tangerine iced tea, the salad was sweet (it had raspberries and mandarin oranges in it), I had Mango Chicken with Alfredo pasta (both were SO good!), and then dessert was some flan-type stuff but it was raspberry flavored with some tart raspberry sauce on top. We talked with the cousins and everyone congratulated us on the pregnancy. We even had a conversation about Myspace! It was really nice seeing everyone. I thought the way the tea was presented was so pretty, and the centerpieces contained real flowers!

Mary and Noelia dropped me off with Mario. He still had an hour to get out of work, so I chatted on the phone with Mayra for about an hour (the usual time our conversations last LOL). When he got out, we went to eat at Chilli’s since he hadn’t eaten lunch at all. I had some strawberry lemonade and some nachos since I was stuffed from the bridal shower. Mario had a Philly Cheese Steak he was craving and some buffalo wings. We had a great time talking, then headed off to Circuit City, where we got the kids a new Xbox controller and Cars game and then to Target, just to look around. I ended up buying some brown throw pillows to match the rug. I want to go back for some teal-colored satin pillows with a brown butterfly appliqued on it. It would match the rug and tile perfectly. I still need to remember to buy my khaki futon cover. The room will almost look complete after I get the cover. I just hate that they’re so darn expensive!

As for today, I got the kids and myself ready and we, along with Mom, went to get the license plate stickers for the Sentra. It didn’t take long at all, so we went to visit Mario and I asked him if he wanted to go eat lunch. It was only 11:45, and he doesn’t eat till 1 so we went to Papa John’s to get some pizza. It took forever for them to make it but it gave us enough time to eat and then take a Medium pizza to Mario for his lunch. It was delicious. And they didn’t even ask me for the coupon I had LOL.

After dropping the pizza off to Mario, we went to Wal-Mart. I got some bread and fruits I was craving and Mom got what she needed and then we came home. I took a good 1 hour nap–I felt so exhausted. Lisa came over to Mary’s last night and I went over there after doing my chores. We talked about weddings and kids and all that jazz. It was cool.

Blah. I feel exhausted now and that’s because I just ate a while ago. You’d think I’d have more energy after eating Raviolli.

I just remembered: the kids need haircuts so I’ll have to end up leaving the house tomorrow. Darn. At least the salon’s down the street. Then Wednesday I have an appointment to get the mole on my neck removed (finally!) and I have to take Mom to her diabetes specialist on Thursday. It never ends!

Oh, My Lungs…

I can’t stand this effing cough. Somehow, in the middle of this heat, I ended up getting a cold–which has proven to be one of the worst ones this year (although I should knock-on-wood because it could be worse *knocks*). It’s those dry, nasty coughs that make your throat itch so much you feel like you’re going to barf. And my nose! It won’t stop running. Grr.

So let’s see…Saturday was spent in town, like all day. We picked the pictures up at Walgreens which turned out really nice. We went to see Gramma at the nursing home, then went to Target, where I was going to pick out either a bedset or rug–my Mother’s Day gift from Mom. No such luck at the Target at Las Tiendas. They were out of the duvet cover that I wanted and I didn’t like any of the rugs. Well, I liked some, but I had to find something that would match our awkward green floor and the beige futon cover I want to get for the futon and nothing matched. We went to Ross, where we only found about a thousand Mexican tourists, as usual. I tell you, they need to declare a day, like Tuesday, a day that tourists can come and shop over here, and for a few hours only. I swear, I can NEVER find a parking space at the mall or Las Tiendas because someone with a license plate from Mexico is in them. Blah.

We went to Kohl’s afterwards, where the kids behaved horribly. I was trying to look at the rugs and candleholders and the kids were running around. I was afraid they’d knock something over so I gave them a designated place to sit. Of course that didn’t work out–they were crawling and kicking eachother. I grabbed them by the hands and pulled them up and started walking out the door. All I was doing was holding their hands and lecturing them when Jaylen starts screaming, “Ow! Stop! YOU’RE HURTING ME!!” You can imagine the look on people’s faces. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone dialed CPS. I look around and smile and hiss down to Jaylen, “Quit saying that! I’m not doing anything to you!” and smile again as we passed other people that were scowling and shaking their heads at me. Darn child–he sure knows how to make me hurry out of a store. Please believe he got a pinch on the arm when we got to the car–which he hates more than an actual spank on the butt.

We went to the Target that was down the block and I found the perfect rug there. Two actually, but the other one was mostly red and super bright and Mario would have hated it. We got one with earth tones and it was perfect because it matched the floor tile perfectly. We decided to make Gramma a corkboard scrapbook for Mother’s Day, so we got the supplies for that.

I stopped by Mario’s work to show him my new rug (hah, sounds dirty) and he loved it. He asked John to drive the Sentra back home and wanted me to pick him up after work since Albert and Jannett had invited us to watch the fight (de la Hoya against Mayorga).

I got ready that night, took clothes for Mario and we went. The fight was showing at Jannett’s parent’s house and they couldn’t get the channel to work. Turns out the idiots at Timewarner screwed up and didn’t put in the order correctly. Jannett called her cousin and we went to watch the fight at his house. It was so awesome the way de la Hoya kicked Mayorga’s arrogant ass.

What did we do Sunday. OH YES, now I remember. It was my brilliant idea to take the living room apart and rearrange furniture. We took the old, blue rug out, put the new one in and moved the desk and computer and all the crap on it to the other side of the living room. Of course, with computers come wires and that was just a mess. It took us all day to arrange everything. And we still didn’t get to center the entertainment center with the rug and futon since the turtle’s tank is on it and it’s heavy.

Can’t remember much from Monday and Tuesday. The usual happened. Except Eenan went on a field trip to a ranch that day.

Tuesday evening was spent with Mom at Michael’s looking for more stickers and embellishments to put on Gramma’s gift. Eenan had a Mother’s Day program on Wednesday afternoon. He was great–his class danced to a hip-hoppish song and sang a cute song called, “My Mom”, or something like that. All the other classes did such a good job too. They had two mariachis sing for us and then we had cake.

Mario and I rented movies last night, but he spent too long talking to Chris outside his house so by the time we got home I was falling asleep. After about 30 minutes of watching the movie I went to bed. Hopefully we can watch one of the others today. I rented Like Water for Chocolate, woo!

Spent today scrapbooking. I’d like to continue but these damn boogers don’t let me look down for more than 5 seconds at a time. And I still have to make dinner and clean up the living room (scrapbooking stuff EVERYWHERE) and wash dishes. Blah.

Pleasantly Surprised

Last Wednesday, after having yet another frustrating day at school with Quickbooks, I went to the post office and ran into an old friend, Jessica, from my OSM days. We caught up (she’s married, has a little boy, one on the way) and found out she’s been living 3 streets away from me for the past 4 years! What a small world we live in. I knew I’d seen her at the Dollar General once and she swears she saw me walking down the main street with a stroller (ah yes, when I was actually making an effort to lose weight) and at Wal-Mart. We talked for a while on Saturday; I need to remember to call her back.

Sometime at the beginning of last week, Aunt Nora called and asked if we’d like her old bedroom set since she was buying a new one. I remember LOVING her bed, and ask, “Is it the one I said I liked?” and she said, “Yup, that one.” Score. She gave us the drawers and bedside table too. The dressers she’s had since she first got married () but the bed is brand new. It looks beautiful :).

Mario was going to take the Sentra Saturday morning, but when he tried to turn it on, nothing happened. Turns out the starter died. All I could think about was my final on Monday and how we were broke, couldn’t afford a new starter and HOW WAS I GOING TO FINISH CHRISTMAS SHOPPING??

Mary came to the rescue and bought the part for us (we need to pay her back *adds to long list of debts*) and Mario waited around all day for someone to help him out to no avail. Finally, later at night, Jose came home and fixed it with the company of Mary and Big Mario. Mario was too upset to go out there.

Brushka had her second litter of kittens yesterday. Panthy-Poo (who’s solid black) was the one who mated with her, yet she had black tabby ones (probably from Panthy), gray tabby ones like her, and a WHITE ONE. I told Mario, “Aww, she’s so cute! If she’s got long hair like Artemis, I want to keep her.” And to my surprise he replied, “I kinda want to keep her too.”

Booka (as Jaylen calls her) will be staying indoors until we get her spayed. With all these new kittens, that brings the total to 14 cats and well, I’m too young to be a crazy cat lady . I hope we can find them good homes (Booka’s last litter: Bah, Enchilirido, and Goop, were all given to Ricky and they disappeared a week later since they had them outside. He lives in a ranch–I’d hate to think what animal, like a coyote, could have gotten to them). I gotta get Choco Cat spayed and John needs to get his cat spayed, too.

I went to school all by my lonesome today. Ricci moved to Mission, so she won’t be going with me to school in the morning. I gotta say, I’m so used to going everywhere with her it feels strange without her there LOL. I’ll be bringing her with me afterschool and dropping her off at her Grandma’s, where Goyo will be picking her and the girls up. I’m really glad they got their own place–they really needed it.

We got to school and I tried explaining to Ricci and Romeo how to do a few things (that I could remember) in Quickbooks when Mrs. C-R suddenly asked us to sit and get ready for our final. She said, “Your final is your assignment from Friday. There’s 3 cheat sheets, each one’s 5 points off of your final if you ask for it. There’s also a bonus you can do. If you get it right, it’s 20 extra points, if you don’t, it doesn’t affect your grade.”

My mouth dropped. I stayed an extra hour after school on Friday to finish that assignment because I JUST HAD TO get it right. And I did! When I was about 1/4 ways done with the bonus Company, Mrs. C-R places a letter on my desk. It says that I already had a 100 for that class (yeah baby!) and I could take the bonus if I wanted to. She also said she was proud of me (aww ) and to always keep my head held high. She left a P.S. that said, “Thanks for always helping out your classmates.” I was beaming and smiling from ear to ear. I gave the bonus a shot anyway (I think I messed up on a deposit though ) and thanked her for the letter. I’m going to miss her when I graduate .

I was so worried about that Final. I was sure I was going to bomb it. I even had a dream–no, a nightmare–Saturday night that I’d set my alarm wrong on Sunday night and woke up at 12:20pm. I totally missed class and Mrs. C-R wouldn’t let me re-take. I woke up with my heart beating a mile a minute!

I went to drop Mario’s lunch off at work since he forgot it and Mom, the boys and I went downtown to get Tio Arturo’s gift and to this Japanese store I’d always wanted to go to. After 30 minutes of looking for parking we went over there and I’m in love. Mom bought me a little Lucky Cat snow globe and I think I found my inspiration for decorating the living room. I’d always wanted an Asian theme and now I know where to go for all my decor :). They have gorgeous vases and such pretty paper lanterns.

Welp, I should get to baking those Snickerdoodles. I’ve got TONS of baking to do before Thursday!
