Out And About

Mario didn’t end up going in to work . They had some other guy go in instead. He even felt kind of guilty for not going in, but he figured he’d take — and enjoy — his day off since he probably won’t be getting one for the next month.

I slept in till 10am today. I hadn’t slept till 10am in so long! It was nice . Mario’d been up since 8am but let us sleep. We ate breakfast, then Mario was outside with Vito again, who was trying to add new parts to the Prelude. When they were done, (it was already lunchtime), we left to town. Mario hadn’t eaten so we decided we’d go to Joe’s Crab Shack. I was excited about going there since I *love* seafood and I’d never been there. But unfortunately, it was packed and the seating hostess was super rude; she didn’t even acknowledge us, much less write us in, so we left. We went to Red Lobster, which was super full too, but they wrote us in right away and told us it would be a 25 minute wait. The boys were okay–not too hyper and they actually listened the first time they were told to do something. It was the best service I’ve ever had at a restraunt in all my life. She brought our drinks very quickly, our appetizer & food quickly, checked up on us frequently, and even laughed at Eenan’s jokes . The food was to die for (I’d never eaten at Red Lobster, either). For once, I ordered without adding the cost up in my head (ok, I did, but I did it without feeling nervous). Everything was really good. Mario’d wanted calamari for the longest time, so he ordered some with breaded broccoli and red peppers with shredded motzerella cheese on top. It was GOOD. Even Eenan and Jaylen had some. They loved their chocolate smoothies and popcorn shrimp and fries. Mario and I ordered the same thing: shrimp with crab meat, crawfish and lobster meat too (I think) covered in some tasty sauce and CHEESE with a baked potato. Mmmm…I’m getting hungry again just thinking about it. It was awesome. I can’t wait to go back for our anniversary next month (if all goes well) .

We went to the Sprint store to exchange Noelia’s phone, but the lady said they couldn’t just sell us another phone at sale price like they used to; we’d have to pay full price. And on top of that it was going to take forever, so we left. Went to Target to get Mario more jeans and then Pet Smart to get the rats’ food. After that, we went to Best Buy to get some DVD-Rs and a charger for Mario’s phone. We visited Gramma for a while (well, only Jaylen and I got off to see her, Eenan had been misbehaving so Mario stayed with him in the car). We got there and the first thing I noticed were her neighbors belongings all boxed up and I asked her what happened. She said the lady had passed away on Thursday. How sad . It scared me so much to think Gramma might not be here one day. I wish I could visit her more often. I hadn’t seen her in almost a month! We talked and caught up. Even had a laugh when a little old man in a wheelchair tried escaping through the back door and another little old lady started yelling, “Woooooo hoooooo!” LOL. I noticed Gramma’s even put more weight on. Her face and arms look fuller . I really hope we can get the Prelude running, and then my license soon so I can have the Sentra to myself and I can drive over there and see Gramma more often.

We went to Wal-mart after that to pick up groceries, house supplies, and wall mounts for the surround sound. Then to K-Mart to buy the towels that are on sale (we still have the same towels from when we got married almost 6 years ago, we’ve only bought towels once before ). After that, we finally came home and I helped Mario install the wall mounts. We rearranged the living room and now it’s so spacey. I don’t know why it never occured to us to arrange everything like this before!

Mario went to Jorge’s for a little bit and I fed the kids, bathed them, then read them some stories and put them to bed. Had some trouble with Eenan who insisted there were black widow spiders in his bed and biting him . He went to lay on my bed and then screamed that something burned him on the toe. He finally fell asleep when I threatened to turn off the night light and close the door (he likes it open since he can see the light from the living room). And now I’m here, making Mario’s MP3 disc while he’s sprawled on the couch enjoying his surround sound LOL. Oh and good news: my teeth don’t hurt! I actually ate and drank cold drinks without feeling a shot of pain. Hopefully I won’t need a root canal after all. *crosses fingers*

Pee-yew…I need a shower .

Valentine’s Day 2005

On Monday morning, I woke up early, frosted the thousands of tiny cupcakes and got Eenan ready. They have this new thing at the school where they give out “sack lunch breakfasts” and they eat from 7:45-7:55 in class. Seemed like a tiny amount of time for them to eat — especially because my son eats at a snail’s pace — but he wanted to eat with his friends so he got ready and I dropped him off. I got back, got Mario’s clothes, lunch bag and breakfast ready and he took off. I spent the day doing laundry and cleaning. (Mary got a new washing machine…we went half-n-half…so nice to NOT have to wash by hand!!) I was slightly panicking when it was time to pick Eenan up because I didn’t know who was picking him up and I didn’t want a recurrence of last year to happen. I called Noelia at around 2:45 because she wasn’t here yet and I usually leave at 3. She was in McAllen but said she’d make it. She calls back and says the car is making really ugly noises and to try and call Sonia to see if she’d pick him up. I call, and she was out with Mary, who’d gotten out of work early. I call her back and she said the car was over-heating and had to stop on the side of the road. So I call Vito, and he said yes, we’d pick up Eenan and then Noelia. Jaylen was asleep so I had to haul his heavy little ass all over the place. Mary had just gotten here so she went with us. We picked Eenan up, who was all thrilled over his candies and Valentine’s cards. Then we went to where Noey was. We picked her up, got the part (a belt tore off and was completely shredded), then Mary drove us all back (because Eenan kept claiming he was “melting and was going to die”) and Vito stayed fixing the Geo.

At home, I continued with laundry and figured I’d start on dinner around 6:30-7. Noey came over and asked if I could help her with some cookies. Since we’d never made those kinds of cookies, it took us a while (mostly trying to tell if they were done or not). By the time we finished it was almost 7. I hadn’t finished cleaning and all I had time to do was make the lasagna. I wanted everything to be perfect…I wanted candles lit, our songs playing, I wanted my hair fixed and I was actually going to wear a dress, and I wanted the house spotless by the time Mario got home. None of that happened…and even one of the two floating candles on the table didn’t want to stay lit. AND I didn’t even have time to make the chocolate covered strawberries OR give the kids a bath! But it was okay. He got home, gave me yet another gift (The Notebook DVD–which I’d told him not to since I got the camera!!) and we ate together by 1 candlelight LOL. He was tired, so he watched some TV while I got the boys ready for bed. Then we cuddled and went to sleep. Hopefully our anniversary next month will be a bit more romantic.

Yesterday was the usual — not much happened during the day. I’ve been having the strangest dreams lately. A few weeks ago I wouldn’t even remember what I dreamt (dreamed? dram? whatever) about the night before. At the end of last week I had an ugly dream, probably because I’d been watching the Passions soap all week . The next night, I had one where some woman was laying on the ground, freshly murdered, with her eyes gouged out of her face (probably because I’d been watching Medium before I went to bed). Two nights ago I had one where we were at Eenan’s school, and they asked him a question. He, for some reason, tells the teacher, “But I’m dirty!!” And she shoots a look of disgust at me and says, “Maybe your Mom should take you a bath!” I felt that guilty about not giving them a shower LOL. When I was taking a nap with Jaylen yesterday morning I had two dreams: one where I was still in highschool and was watching TV while getting ready and by the time I looked at the clock, it was 11:35, so I stayed home LOL. I woke up because I heard a loud noise, then I went back to bed and had a dream about how we were at South Padre Island because I was competing in a dance competition and was practicing my moves. ME?!? DANCE?!?! Buahahaha…hilarious. Don’t know where that one came from…though I did have the TV on VH1 when I fell asleep?

Anyway, in the dream after I “practiced” dancing, it started to snow. I remember telling myself, “This is the 3rd time it’s snowed this year!” (Yeah right…it was a miracle it snowed ONCE in the last 190-some years.) I was walking in the snow, got to some house where some girl was almost frozen and sitting outside. I open the door and tell her to come in and she tells me no, to close the door. I was like, “OK, then.” LOL. And then I woke up because Mary called. I need to look those dreams up. I’ve never remembered them in such detail either .

At night, we went to Jorge’s. Art was there . He’s back from Cali and here to stay for good. Hiram and the other Mario were there, too. We laughed and joked, then it got a bit boring towards the end because all Jorge and Mario were talking about was work LOL. It was good getting out of the house anyway.

Mary told me how Eenan had been crying because he wants a baby sister. He goes through those phases LOL. He told Mary he’d take care of her and wouldn’t fight with her at all. Aww . I want a daughter, too, but I also want to go to school first, get a good job, buy a house and then I’ll have one. Hopefully I won’t be old and gray by then LOL.

Okay…gonna go find some Ambesol or Orajel or whatever they’re called. Mary darn wisdom tooth is bugging me and then I have to get ready to go buy Eenan’s shoes and shirt. I’m so sleepy.

This Weekend

I’m going to split my entry into two posts, because if I keep it in just one entry, you’ll be here forever.

I continued to be completely bored that Saturday. Nothing remotely exciting happened. Well, not to me. Noelia came in and told me about how she had a date and showed me a picture of him. I freaked when I found out it was Andy, a friend from highschool; we had a math class together. Small, small world. I told her he was really nice from what I remembered. She’d disappeared for a little bit, so I helped with directions on how to get over here. I met him outside. It was nice seeing him. He and Noey are officially a couple, and I’m so glad she finally found someone who’s…not an ass and will actually treat her well. After seeing him, I suddenly felt really nostalgic, again, and missed my old friends *sigh*.

I also found out from Andy, that my boyfriend at the time, Eric, was indeed gay. All my suspicions were correct. He was pretty normal when we were together, but once we broke up he started acting, and looking…different. But yeah, he came out of the closet a year later. And what freaks me out, is that Andy said just about everyone knew. I feel…weird LOL. How embarrassing!

(I’m currently on the phone with a creditor regarding Mario’s school loan. The lady called me Yajayna. That’s a new one !)

That night Eenan slept over at Mary’s and when Mario got home we (Mario, Jaylen and I) got comfy on the futon and watched the Shark Tale movie he’d rented. 5 minutes into it, he fell asleep . We left the movie on anyway and fell asleep. I hate sleeping on that thing. I wake up all contorted and achy . Oddly enough, it was one of the best nights sleep I’ve gotten in a while. I only woke up once.

When I opened my eyes the next morning, Mario was staring at me and said, “Let’s spend some money!” He finally had a day off and he wanted to get out of the house. While he helped his uncle with the Prelude, I took a shower and then we left to eat breakfast at McDonald’s. We didn’t make it for breakfast (it was exactly 11am), so we got lunch. The kids got Happy Meals and I got chicken tenders (?) and Mario got a burger. Chris and Alfonso were there and they were super awesome with us and gave us extra everything — even toys for the kids and they got me the last two My Little Ponies! I asked how much we owed them (because they’d gotten me all the other ponies and all the toys for the kids) and they said not to worry about it. They’re super nice. Too bad they’re moving next month . They’re the best neighbors we’ve ever had.

After we finished eating, we dropped off all the extra stuff we had at home, put gas in the car, bought the newspaper (for the ads!) and off we went. We went to the big garage sale/flea market but I found absolutely nothing. All the good stuff was probably sold the day before . Eenan and Jaylen bought some Neo Pets, and Mario bought some Hot Wheels and then we left. We went to Target, where Mario bought only 1 pair of jeans since that’s all they had in his size, and all I got was bras . After that we went to Best Buy. Mario got the Sony home theatre surround sound or whateverthehellit’scalled. He wanted me to buy something for myself so I was looking at the cameras and immediately felt sweaty and nervous when I saw the prices. I can’t spend. Not like that. If I were rich, hell, it would be easy. But I’m not, and all I kept thinking was how the money could go to something more important. I really liked the Kodak Easy Share with printer dock, but said, “No, it’s okay, let’s go.” Mario got it, and stuck it in the cart. He insisted. So I have a new camera. I love it to bits, don’t get me wrong, but holy cow that was a lot of money .

He got Eenan a game — Zelda and the Minish Cap, or something like that — extra paper and a cartridge for the camera/printer and a DVD. And then we left. We went to Circuit City where he bought some wiring for the surround sound and a DVD+R. (We still haven’t gotten that piece of crap to work correctly .) On the way home, I was feeling REALLY guilty and Mario told me how I deserved it and I never buy anything and all that stuff, and I almost cried because I was PMS’ing and I just love him .

We still had to get gifts for our Moms and Eenan’s shirt and sandals (beach theme) for yet another set of school pictures, and were going to get Jaylen something so we were going back to Wal-Mart later that night. We ended up staying in and Mario installed everything, I messed with my wonderful camera and then I slaved making cupcakes for Eenan’s class and for us. (continued on entry above)
