New & Improved…and Yellow!

As we were lying in bed last night I was whining to Mario how I wish I’d had time to do so many more things, like painting the kitchen and hanging up picture frames, even though I did accomplish a lot in the past week. He said we’d do everything I wanted to do first thing in the morning. He’d been drinking a little and he always becomes the best, most romantic, most supportive husband ever when he’s drunk, so I attributed his generosity to that. I didn’t want to get too excited.

Mary woke us up asking if we wanted to go to the movies with her and the boys, but we were tired and up late with Aly (till 2 am and then she kept waking me up and the baby didn’t let me sleep much, either. I had a tummy ache and she was thrashing about so much I couldn’t sleep) so we sadly declined. We lazied around in bed and then I started making breakfast and Mario finished making us eggs. Alaethia actually ate all her eggs with cheese. I’m trying hard not to give her anything to drink until she’s done with her food or else she’ll want to go back to sleep or gets too full and doesn’t want to eat any actual food. This is a bad habit I thank Mom for instilling in her.

We went to Family Dollar to buy a few paint supplies and started prepping kitchen. Mom and my dad-in-law helped with Alaethia, and later when they got home, Mary and the boys kept her entertained. We’re so blessed to have such awesome family.

Mario wasn’t sure about the lemon-colored, almost nacho-cheese paint, but once we finished and everyone was complimenting it he said it would grow on him. He thought he was being funny by calling the kitchen our Taqueria LOL. He even said, “We can paint one of the walls a moco green and we’ll have the whole taqueria look going on here.” He even stood outside the window as if he was at a drive thru, stared right at me and said, “Hola mesera. Me da un taco pirata, tacos de bisteck y agua de Jamaica, por favor?” Hard-dee-har-har.

We took a break and had hotdogs outside with mom and Big Mario. I came back in to Mario’s protests to finish up with the kitchen. I’m putting away all my tea pot collections; I’m going for a minimal look. We got rid of a whole bunch of stuff we had piled in the corner. Now the trash can resides there and I’m hoping to get a hanging rack for the mop and broom and so on. I’m so happy with the results, even though I’m tired as hell. Mario’s such a big help these days. He even put up the picture frames I wanted him to. We still need the ones in the hallway, but I’ll bombard him with that later, heh.

He bathed Alaethia without a complaint then I took a shower and brought Aly to bed. She’s asleep. I should do the same. It’s already 12:30am. I didn’t want to go anywhere tomorrow, but I know I’ll probably have to. We have to go visit Gramma because we haven’t gone in a week. I just wanted to rest, though, but if I think about I haven’t really “rested” this whole “vacation” LOL. I’m too busy getting everything in order. I’m still a week behind with blogs and months behind with baby log! I want to get that done tomorrow. That’s next on my to-do list; updating…and laundry too!

Shopping & Scrapbooking

We woke up late again due to being up all night watching movies. Big Mario had already given the boys breakfast, which was awesome and no wonder that they didn’t wake us up for food.

I cleaned some more and did laundry most of the day. Mario washed all the cars and bathed the dog. We all got ready and dropped Mom off at H-E-B so she could do her grocery shopping in peace and we went to Long John Silver’s with the kiddos for a late lunch. Alaethia was a bit moody, but I blame that on the cold that was still sort of lingering. When we were done eating we went to Target and had a mini shopping spree. Very mini, because I didn’t find the curtains I needed another pair of for my bedroom, nor did we get the rug for Alaethia’s room. She still had the boys’ Home Depot City rug they’d play with their Hotwheels on.

We did get the 500gig external for $77.77, but it wasn’t the actual one that was in the ad. I’d called before we’d gone over and asked if they had any available and the girl in electronics said yes, there were plenty. I explained that we lived far away and it would still be a while till we’d get over there, and can one be held for us. She said there was no need, there were plenty. It always happens that when I need to know the name of the person I spoke to, I don’t ask for it. Grr.

Well, when we were looking for the external there were NONE. I was so pissed, but I kept my temper. The guy helping us was actually really sweet and got a manager on the phone and everything. The manager was going to come talk to us, but he was so busy he just told the guy to go ahead and let me pick another harddrive that was the same size, whichever brand I wanted. So we got a thin WD harddrive :).

We picked Mom up and then chilled out at home. I actually got a chance to scrapbook a page at night. I’m almost due to give birth to Emily and I was barely finishing up Alaethia’s page from when I was pregnant with her. I have so much scrapbooking to catch up with, just like Flickr and my blog!

Adan showed up here, drunk as a skunk. He chilled out while Mario and I started moving stuff from my old external (which’ll now be Mario’s) into my new 500gig. Then Mario took him to pick up his ticket, which he’d left at work. I don’t know how on earth he managed to drive himself home in the first place. How dangerous! Mario was supposed to be in bed early since he was dropping Adan off at the airport the next morning, but of course, my husband doesn’t know what “early” means, heh.

New Year’s 2009

New Year’s Day! I couldn’t believe it was already 2009. Which meant it was January, which meant that it was all downhill with my pregnancy. I’d have 3 more weeks of work and then BAM! The baby would be here!

We all woke up around noon. No one was here yet, which was good because something happened during the night and the menudo wasn’t ready in the morning. Aside from the menudo, Elda made Mexican hot chocolate, yum. I had like 3 glass-fulls.

We chilled out at Mary’s most of the day and had menudo for lunch. I came back home and to my bedroom an hour later and started looking through papers and receipts. That’s one of my biggest organizational problems: allowing documents to stacking up and saving crap I could throw away. And that’s because I have a file drawer especially for all that stuff in my desk.

Later in the evening I was in the bathroom and Mario was sitting on the sofa on his laptop. I heard the all-too familiar Velcro of Alaethia’s diaper. Her wonderful father was right there and didn’t notice that she removed her diaper…and pooped on floor. I couldn’t believe it. I stuck her in the bath and Mario sheepishly cleaned up her poo. Couldn’t have pooped on the tile either, no. She pooped right on the rug LOL. Once she was all fresh and clean with a new set of PJ’s she crawled into her daybed to watch The Wizard of Oz. As I’m walking out the door into the hall I hear a gasp—she’d spilled her cup of milk all over herself in her bed. I’m getting quite used to doing laundry at 11pm.

Mario and I spent the evening watching movies. That’s what I missed most about my days as a stay-at-home mom: the extra time I’d get to spend with Mario. Can’t do that when I am working because I have to be up so darn early. Soon, though. Soon.
