Oops, I Did It Again

I went days without updating again…and that sucks because the darn entry gets super long. But, who cares .

Mario didn’t get out early that last Thursday, which sucked. He hasn’t had a day off. Friday was really laid back too and I spent a lot of time on MySpace. I found two of Mario’s cousins on there and John even made an account. I also saw someone whom I was really surprised to see. Let’s just say it brought back bad memories LOL. Nobody else I actually know offline is on there…where the heck is everyone?!

I picked Eenan up from school that day. I *hate* their new pick-up system. Before I’d leave the house at 3, drive into the parking area (which is too damn small) and park and wait till he got out. Now, I have to leave at 2:30-2:45 (he doesn’t get out till 3:25) and WAIT IN LINE IN THE STREET till they decide to open the gate. Yeah, the street. So we only leave one lane open for the people driving. If for some reason I’m ever late to pick him up, I’m going to be waiting in this ridiculously huge line. Gargh, I just despise that school’s brilliant ideas. At least the new principal didn’t send out a memo like the one from last year did notifying the parents about how the school’s not “responsible” for the kids before and after a certain time.

Speaking of school, and because of another event that happened this weekend, I realized I need to learn to speak more Spanish. I’ve mentioned it a thousand times before: I can understand it perfectly, read it, write it (somewhat) but when it comes time to having a conversation with someone, I fumble all over my words and end up forgetting what I want to say. It’s embarrassing. I’m just about the only parent at that school that doesn’t talk to all the other moms. They all speak Spanish (most ONLY Spanish) — even the moms who are close to my age. That’s another thing, most of the moms are much older than I am. They all gather together and talk to eachother and I just feel uncomfortable standing there so most of the time I wait till Eenan gets out to get out of the car. It’s not super important that I don’t talk to anyone there–I don’t think I’d have much in common with anyone–but I just really need to speak Spanish and that just sort of confirms it.

Anyway, when Mary got home from work we went to watch Pooh’s Heffalump Movie. Aww, it was SO cute! I even cried a little. Lumpy was the sweetest. I just didn’t really like how they didn’t pay much attention to Eeyore . The kids loved it…they actually sat through the whole thing.

We ate at Burger King afterwards, where I had a shrimp salad. I take forever to eat, so while I ate Mary took the boys to play in the play park. After a minute, I start hearing screams and started to worry. When I was done I go over there and sure enough, it was my children screaming . Jaylen had gone up the tubes with Eenan, but he went a different way and Eenan didn’t notice. So when Eenan came back down, he realized Jaylen wasn’t there and started screaming. Then Jaylen panicked and he screamed. Eenan had already gone up twice and couldn’t bring him back down. A little boy Eenan became friends with ended up going up there and leading Jaylen back down. When Eenan saw Jaylen he grabbed him and hugged him. He kept telling me, “I don’t know what I’d do without my Jaylen. I’d be so lonely!” .

When we got home John was already here (I’d left him the keys). We watched videos on big-boys.com till Mario got home and then we got ready to go to Jorge and Maggie’s. Mario brought pizza so we ate, and then went to Mary’s since Andy had come over. Mario and Mary hadn’t met him yet. Everyone thinks he’s really nice–so far, I think they all like him the best (out of the boyfriends Noey’s had).

The boys wanted to stay, so we left. I was so surprised Jaylen actually stayed without me LOL. We drank margaritas and just had a good time at Jorge’s.

Mario left to work the next day and John watched the boys while I went with Mary, Sonia and Yazmin to watch Constantine. I liked it–I like those types of movies. Could have done without some of Keanu’s stares into the camera and the ending could have been faster, but other than that, it was good .

We went to eat at Jesse’s Mexican Food after that and then to Target where I got a Bedtime Bear Cub. They had them on sale for $9.98!! I really wanted Love-a-lot or Cheer Bear but they only had Bedtimes, Funshines and Wish Bears. I want them all now–they’re so adorable !

I got those Hello Kitty stickers on Sunday at Party Universe. I’m already planning a layout around one of them buahaha.

We came home and the house was a disaster. I don’t know *what* John does when he’s “watching” the boys…because it doesn’t really seem like he watches them. The house is in shambles everytime I get back. So that’s what I did for the next hour–cleaned and made the boys help me clean. Mario got home from work, ate and then told me to get ready since Chris was having an engagement party. Chris and their friend Jorge seemed really happy that I went with Mario. They sent me off with the other wives/girlfriends who were all inside. It was one of the most awkward moments of my life. Most of the women there spoke only Spanish (story of my life!) so of course I sat there for most of the 3 hours just wishing the ground would swallow me. I only spoke twice the whole time I was there. Everyone was quiet the first two hours though. If I spoke more Spanish (or they spoke more English) I could have gotten along with them much better. I was just glad it was over when it was but felt a tad bit guilty when Chris and Jorge thanked me for coming and said they’d love it if I’d accompany Mario the next time there was a bar-be-cue or something . I’d love to go, as long as the women and men aren’t separated. It would be MUCH less uncomfortable.

The next day, I saw Mario off to work then went with Mary and the boys to Pet Smart, Party Universe (they have Ninja Turtle stuff for Jaylen’s party!), and then to the longest kiddie party I’ve ever been to in my life. The boys weren’t exactly “behaving”–hadn’t been all day–and the length of the party just made it worse. They had fun the first hour of the party though.

We left the party after two hours (and it still wasn’t over) and I was just so glad to be home. When Mario got home we dropped John off and Aunt Nora gave us some lamps and Mom had left me a bag of stuff. She gave me a Clinique make-up bag with all kinds of stuff . I didn’t get to see her though . She was still at work. We went to rent some movies (Wicker Park & Cellular) and bought Mean Girls for $7! It’s previously viewed, but hey, it works! Then we picked up McDonald’s and chilled out and watched movies. It was nice just being here with Mario.

And that was my weekend. Yesterday was spent cleaning and doing laundry–as is every Monday. Gonna feed Jaylen and myself before we have to go and spend that ghastly hour in line, in the car .

I’m Gonna Need Dentures By the Time I’m 30

Friday was basically the same as every other day, but was much less hectic. I’m was on this natural high. During lunch, Mario called and told me that he’d been on comission the past two weeks and didn’t even know it. Then he told me how much his paycheck came out to this week. My eyes about bulged out of my head ! In my state of shock I stupidly ask, “How’d that happen!?” And he says, “I busted my ass this week!” LOL I’m so happy for him. He was just talking about how he was still on hourly and wasn’t happy about it. I’m so proud !

When Eenan got home from school on Thursday I asked him how it went. He said fine and that nobody made fun of his sandals LOL. I’m glad. Friday they had their Good Life Celebration — a party/dance they have for them every end of the 6 weeks if they’ve kept their grades up and have been well-behaved — and Big Mario said he saw him and Angela dancing together. Aww !

After Mario left to work that morning I laid on the couch with Jaylen since he wanted to run his fingers through my hair (yes, he still has that bad, bad habit) and take a nap. I started tickling him and when I stopped he said, “Again!” I told him no, that I’d scratch him with my nails. He grabs my hand and stares at my nails and says, “Those are claws!” LMAO I knew they were long, but Jesus!

We went to Jorge & Maggie’s after Mario got home from work. I helped Maggie make the potato salad and the guys (Mario, Jorge and Hiram) were outside bar-be-cuing. When Maggie told me to taste the potatoes, I bit down with the side I’d gotten the fillings done in and I got this pang of pain. It was horrible. I almost screamed. I knew at that moment I had to get the darn tooth fixed again. Maggie made Margaritas and with every sip I’d take, I’d get this throbbing pain. I think that’s what pissed me off the most …I couldn’t enjoy my drink!

We ate and teased Jorge about his beef-jerky-esque fajitas LOL. They were almost burned to a crisp. But everything was still really good. We all joked around and made fun of eachother–as always–and then it was wives against husbands again and we somehow brought up “the past” and ended up throwing things in the husbands’ faces. Mario and I appologized to eachother, but I still felt incredibly bad for bringing up something so stupid. I made up for it in the morning though, buahahaha

Mario left to work this morning and then the boys and I and Yazmin chilled out here while Mary ran some errands. When she got back, we picked up Yadira and went back to Progresso (Mexico) to go to the dentist. It was horrible this time . Yazmin and Yadira went in with me and held my hands while the dentist removed the filling he just put in 2 weeks ago. (Poor Mary stayed in the lobby watching my monsters children.) Everytime he’d get near that one tooth, I’d jerk my head back. I kept sliding away from him and he kept telling me to “come back” LOL. I ended up getting an X-ray and even getting a 2nd opinion from the other dentist. They couldn’t figure out what’s wrong. They gave me antibiotics and two different pain meds to help. While I was standing holding Yadira’s hand when it was her turn, the side of my face was throbbing and I even started getting an ear ache and head ache. I almost cried. When he checked me again, he blew air into my mouth and turns out I have to get yet another tooth filled—the same tooth I told him to fill THE LAST TIME I WENT!! I went specifically for THAT tooth to get re-filled (the filling fell out), but he didn’t even do it. He did 2 on top, not 3 as we thought. He put in a temporary filling (that tastes like minty crap!) and I have to wait two weeks to confirm whether I’ll need a ROOT CANAL ($150) or not. I’m also going to definetly need to get all 4 wisdom teeth ($50 per tooth) removed (I already knew that), but most importantly the wisdom tooth on the top right. Ugh. I’m not looking foward to it. I’m petrified actually. But, I drank an Icee without screaming or flinching in pain today! So that’s progress, I hope *crosses fingers*.

Yadira was so scared to get injected with the novacaine, poor thing. I’m a total chicken when it comes to needles, and I could stand it so I kept assuring her it wouldn’t be so bad. She even teared up. Once she got the shot though, she was fine. They ended up filling 4 of her teeth, and it came out to $160!! I asked the guy (dentist) how many he did for me and he said he couldn’t remember how many teeth he filled, supposedly. I thought he did 3, but he didn’t. I think he did 2 and charged me $35. Even if he did one, it’s $5 less than what he charged Yadira per tooth; he charged her $40 each. Mary’s going to call on Monday and ask what happened. I didn’t have to pay anything at all, not even the X-ray, since it was a sort of follow-up. Ugh. I can’t believe my teeth got this bad. And I brush morning and night! I don’t get it ! It must be all the darn sweets I eat. I am going to make it a point to teach these kids about how important teeth are. You only get two sets, dammit. I still have, like, the whole left side to get worked on and 2 teeth on my right. Lovely.

Poor Mario got home all frustrated tonight. They’re making him go into work again tomorrow. I was so looking foward to spending the day with him. At least it’s a short day?

Okay, gonna go to bed. My darn head hurts.

Valentine’s Day 2005

On Monday morning, I woke up early, frosted the thousands of tiny cupcakes and got Eenan ready. They have this new thing at the school where they give out “sack lunch breakfasts” and they eat from 7:45-7:55 in class. Seemed like a tiny amount of time for them to eat — especially because my son eats at a snail’s pace — but he wanted to eat with his friends so he got ready and I dropped him off. I got back, got Mario’s clothes, lunch bag and breakfast ready and he took off. I spent the day doing laundry and cleaning. (Mary got a new washing machine…we went half-n-half…so nice to NOT have to wash by hand!!) I was slightly panicking when it was time to pick Eenan up because I didn’t know who was picking him up and I didn’t want a recurrence of last year to happen. I called Noelia at around 2:45 because she wasn’t here yet and I usually leave at 3. She was in McAllen but said she’d make it. She calls back and says the car is making really ugly noises and to try and call Sonia to see if she’d pick him up. I call, and she was out with Mary, who’d gotten out of work early. I call her back and she said the car was over-heating and had to stop on the side of the road. So I call Vito, and he said yes, we’d pick up Eenan and then Noelia. Jaylen was asleep so I had to haul his heavy little ass all over the place. Mary had just gotten here so she went with us. We picked Eenan up, who was all thrilled over his candies and Valentine’s cards. Then we went to where Noey was. We picked her up, got the part (a belt tore off and was completely shredded), then Mary drove us all back (because Eenan kept claiming he was “melting and was going to die”) and Vito stayed fixing the Geo.

At home, I continued with laundry and figured I’d start on dinner around 6:30-7. Noey came over and asked if I could help her with some cookies. Since we’d never made those kinds of cookies, it took us a while (mostly trying to tell if they were done or not). By the time we finished it was almost 7. I hadn’t finished cleaning and all I had time to do was make the lasagna. I wanted everything to be perfect…I wanted candles lit, our songs playing, I wanted my hair fixed and I was actually going to wear a dress, and I wanted the house spotless by the time Mario got home. None of that happened…and even one of the two floating candles on the table didn’t want to stay lit. AND I didn’t even have time to make the chocolate covered strawberries OR give the kids a bath! But it was okay. He got home, gave me yet another gift (The Notebook DVD–which I’d told him not to since I got the camera!!) and we ate together by 1 candlelight LOL. He was tired, so he watched some TV while I got the boys ready for bed. Then we cuddled and went to sleep. Hopefully our anniversary next month will be a bit more romantic.

Yesterday was the usual — not much happened during the day. I’ve been having the strangest dreams lately. A few weeks ago I wouldn’t even remember what I dreamt (dreamed? dram? whatever) about the night before. At the end of last week I had an ugly dream, probably because I’d been watching the Passions soap all week . The next night, I had one where some woman was laying on the ground, freshly murdered, with her eyes gouged out of her face (probably because I’d been watching Medium before I went to bed). Two nights ago I had one where we were at Eenan’s school, and they asked him a question. He, for some reason, tells the teacher, “But I’m dirty!!” And she shoots a look of disgust at me and says, “Maybe your Mom should take you a bath!” I felt that guilty about not giving them a shower LOL. When I was taking a nap with Jaylen yesterday morning I had two dreams: one where I was still in highschool and was watching TV while getting ready and by the time I looked at the clock, it was 11:35, so I stayed home LOL. I woke up because I heard a loud noise, then I went back to bed and had a dream about how we were at South Padre Island because I was competing in a dance competition and was practicing my moves. ME?!? DANCE?!?! Buahahaha…hilarious. Don’t know where that one came from…though I did have the TV on VH1 when I fell asleep?

Anyway, in the dream after I “practiced” dancing, it started to snow. I remember telling myself, “This is the 3rd time it’s snowed this year!” (Yeah right…it was a miracle it snowed ONCE in the last 190-some years.) I was walking in the snow, got to some house where some girl was almost frozen and sitting outside. I open the door and tell her to come in and she tells me no, to close the door. I was like, “OK, then.” LOL. And then I woke up because Mary called. I need to look those dreams up. I’ve never remembered them in such detail either .

At night, we went to Jorge’s. Art was there . He’s back from Cali and here to stay for good. Hiram and the other Mario were there, too. We laughed and joked, then it got a bit boring towards the end because all Jorge and Mario were talking about was work LOL. It was good getting out of the house anyway.

Mary told me how Eenan had been crying because he wants a baby sister. He goes through those phases LOL. He told Mary he’d take care of her and wouldn’t fight with her at all. Aww . I want a daughter, too, but I also want to go to school first, get a good job, buy a house and then I’ll have one. Hopefully I won’t be old and gray by then LOL.

Okay…gonna go find some Ambesol or Orajel or whatever they’re called. Mary darn wisdom tooth is bugging me and then I have to get ready to go buy Eenan’s shoes and shirt. I’m so sleepy.
