Speeding Things Along

Wow. I really do have pregnancy brain. I’m trying to collect my thoughts so I can construct an entry about yesterday and I really can’t remember what the heck I did. Hmm…

If I remember correctly I had a quick lunch of a Rice Crispies Treat and some pineapples. It’s so weird; I’ve had no appetite during lunch for the past week or so. I have to force myself to eat something since I don’t get hungry at lunchtime, but then I’m eating dinner early around 4:30-5:30.

I also sort of forgot to eat since I was trying to tidy up my messy bedroom. I really need to get Mario to get help me put all the stuff that belongs in the closet in there. The room had been looking so nice after Sally came and helped me with it on New Year’s Eve, and now it’s back to looking horrible.

I made sure the boys did homework after they’d had their afternoon snack (banana bread). Well, Jaylen had already done his at school. Eenan’s was fast. They did some chores (Jaylen really wants to start getting paid for chores; he says he’ll do anything LOL) and then went off to play. They’re doing amazingly well now that we’ve gotten into a routine of not playing video games during the week.

I see a cloudy gap for about an hour after the boys got home. I might have read…or gotten online? I can’t remember. I started getting all the ingredients out for the spaghetti and meatballs I was making for dinner and then I texted Mario around 6:30 to ask where he was (he gets out about an hour earlier) and he said they were already driving in. Jorge was with him. I had chatted with Maggie on Yahoo earlier in the day and she wanted us to go over, but she’d gotten busy so they were going to visit again. No problem for me.

It took forever to work on the food but I called the guys in when it was done, they ate, the kids ate and I followed them outside to eat in the cool breeze. I couldn’t get relief inside the house; the air conditioning is on and the fan was facing right at me and I still couldn’t stop sweating.

So I ate out there and Alaethia played around. Adan and Aide got here with Belle and we just sat around talking. Jorge started feeling really ill, then Mario’s stomach started to hurt and I got like, 4 strong contractions. My contractions went away (poo), Mario felt better but Jorge still wasn’t feeling good at all. When Maggie got here they left right away. The rest of us stayed outside for a while and then came in once the mosquitoes started biting.

We chilled out a while and then Adan, Aide and Belle left. Alaethia was nodding off watching TV so I got into the shower. Mario and I spent some alone time together trying to uh, hurry the contractions along, heh and then we all went to bed. I had to “tickle” Alaethia’s face (run my fingers slowly and softly over her eyes and all over her face) in order for her to fall asleep.

I woke up 5 minutes late this morning and made breakfast. I didn’t know what I was going to make but BACON stood out in my mind. I scrambled some eggs, toasted the bacon, got some slices of cheese out, some refried beans and corn tortillas. I really wanted flour ones but someone seems to have stolen them again. That, or they were used up during one of our many weekly bar-b-q’s.

So I made these really awesome tacos and packed them for Mario along with his lunch. He left and I made myself a glass of chocolate milk to go with my tacos, and opened up New Moon and read for an uninterrupted hour.

Mary called right after I finished breakfast and filled me in on the gossip. I washed dishes while we talked (it always goes faster when someone’s talking with you) and then I texted Mario to let him know about the gossip LOL. I closed up Yahoo and then went to wake up Alaethia. My mistake is laying next to her when I’m going to wake her up so I pass out. Same thing happened again today LOL. I slept for half an hour and then the phone rang (wrong number, I HATE THAT!) and I slept for another half hour before I was rudely awaken by the doorbell ringing about 20 times in a row. It was my dear brother.

I scooped Alaethia up in my arms and forced her awake after that. She had breakfast (not very much of it) and John and I just chatted and then we made plans to go to the mall so I could do some walking. I really want to have this baby on Friday. Not only is it an even numbered day, it’s the weekend! If Mario misses tomorrow it’s okay, and then he has two days to spend with me and the baby. I would be perfect.

So I picked up the boys. Made sure they had their snacks and then Eenan started working on homework (Jaylen finished his at school again). I went to a quick appointment while Mom and John stayed with the kids and then came back and John and I left to the mall.

I parked at Sears, which is on the opposite side of the store I needed to go to: JC Penny. I got some good exercise. I had to return one of Emily’s Carter outfits–because she has the exact same one in the exact same size–but it wasn’t from any of the stores I went to. They told me to try Macy’s, Beall’s, and Toys R Us. I’d rather just keep the darn thing LOL.

I had a $10 coupon I wanted to use (I love those) and found some amazing discounts on PJ’s. I actually wanted to find a nice blouse for after delivery to go with my new black sweat pants, but I found a pink tank and two cute PJ bottoms instead. I only paid $15 out of my own pocket after the coupon :).

We rushed to Mario’s work, because he asked me to pick him up, and then we came home. John had the rest of the banana bread and some lemonade and went home. I made dinner (steak and corn-on-the-cob) and I must say, it was delicious. The steak we got was really tender and just good. Alaethia ate ALL her steak, surprisingly, but left all the corn. Well, it’s not much of a surprise; she’s a meat-eater like her dad.

So after that we just chilled out (Mario and Aly watched George Lopez and I read) and now I’m waiting to put the laundry in the dryer. I’m hoping tomorrow’s the big day! I need to go to sleep early to finish up my chores, just in case *crosses fingers*!

The Weekly Bar-B-Q

Well, I didn’t end up boiling the bottles and pacifiers that last night I blogged. I think I finished with laundry that night, then washed the rest of the dishes, and then Mario finally woke up and actually helped me clean up Alaethia’s room. We re-organized her little toy drawers with the proper toys and it took us much less time than if I’d tried to do it on my own. While I was sitting on the floor with Alaethia we played with her My First Dollhouse for a while and then she got bored, put her toys away and started playing with her baby and stroller. It’s so cute; she walks around with her Cinderella cell phone in her hand while pushing her baby (who actually sucks on a pacifier). I can’t wait till Emily’s big enough to walk around and watch them play together *sqee!*.

Alaethia, once again, didn’t start nodding off till almost 2am, so needless to say, she endured much poking and prodding in the morning and didn’t budge an inch. I boiled all the bottles (which all fit perfectly on the spinning drying rack) I tried going to sleep but I was hot so I kept tossing and turning, and then John came over quickly followed by mother. Oh well.

John and I’d opened up the playpen to test it out yesterday…and I hated it. We couldn’t close the darn thing back up if our lives depended on it. The pad was awful, too; it had 2 inch gaps between each padded part, where it folds. I asked Mario to help me fold it back up at night and not even he could do it. So yesterday afternoon, John and I struggled with it until the damn thing let us fold it back up and took it back to Target. I don’t even think I’m going to bother getting another one. The only reason I’d want to get one would be for Mary’s house, but then again we have the monitors and can just set those up when we have get-togethers and stuff.

I wanted to go to a thrift store, but John didn’t want to. He said I’d tricked him into walking around with me to induce labor, just like the day before LOL. So we just went straight to Walmart, where Mom asked me to pick up 3 more skeins of yarn and some bread for her, and I needed a few things, like detergent, TP, and milk. I seriously can’t wait till they open up the Walmart in Peñitas…it’ll be so much closer!

We got home and I unloaded everything. John was walking around the kitchen, eating whatever he could find and said he’d wait for me to start on the banana bread I’d asked him to remind me to make. I figured it was a good day, since the bananas probably wouldn’t last another and Mario was going to bar-b-q outside anyway, so I didn’t have to worry about dinner. Maggie, Jorge and the kids were going to come over that evening, so it would be a nice dessert.

I got everything started as the guys (Mario, Jorge and Adan) were getting here. The bread would take approximately an hour to bake, so I joined them outside. I laughed at their jokes and Jorge filled me in on some family drama that’s going on. It’s crazy.

My Mom and dad-in-law were out there and so were the kids for a while. Well, Jaylen was, anyway. Eenan was inside entertaining himself with his tons of Legos. Jaylen was outside being a boy, asking Mario to wrestle with him every 5 minutes LOL.

Aide and Belle got here and much later Maggie and the boys and then Jason, Mirella and Brianna. They’d brought food, too, from Golden Chick, but I only got a bite and waited for the wings the guys were making. Once we ate, I brought out a loaf of the banana bread. Almost the whole pan was gone by the end of the night (I was surprised the other pan made it!).

The guys got all crazy by the end of the night, playing jokes on each other and just being guys and I was exhausted. Mario actually went straight to bed after we cleaned up and everyone left. Alaethia was so exhausted from running around that she crashed out almost immediately, too. I was the only one having trouble falling asleep…and it was because I was sweating up a storm (yes, the fan was pointing directly at me, too).

So this morning I woke up and made Mario a quick breakfast and a quick lunch. I really wanted some eggs overeasy, like I made him, but I don’t want to risk it. I already had a queso fresco quesadilla last night, and although I’m not supposed to eat quesso fresco at all because I’m pregnant and it may contain the Listeriosis bacteria, I did ask for it grilled and toasted, just in case.

I ate breakfast (Rice Crispies cereal and some decaf coffee) and chatted with Mario online for a while. I helped him set up his Flickr account and started getting sleepy again. I felt fine in the morning, but I got tired really quickly. I tried sleeping but Alaethia woke up. When I gave her breakfast and tried taking a nap while she sat next to me and watched Noggin, mother showed up. It’s not enough that she was embarrassingly out there with us while all the guys were being gross and making their jokes (she didn’t leave till almost midnight), she shows up early the next day. Grr. And all she’s doing is nodding off on the sofa.

I’m 38 weeks today and I totally feel it. My feet are killing me and I haven’t even washed dishes yet. I need to vacuum, sweep, mop, clean up the kitchen table and counter, clean up my bedroom, and tidy up the living room. I don’t know if I can do it. Maybe once I’ve just sat for a while I can. Mario warned me again about over-doing it I just never listen. I guess I’ll listen today.

Unexpected Outings

I woke up several times throughout the night and then the morning. I stayed up till 2:30am reading. I finished Twilight a few days ago (finally) and started on New Moon yesterday. I’m thinking it’ll take me about 2 months to finish this one LOL.

I was sweating up a storm most of the night and it didn’t help that Alaethia was tossing and turning because she was hot, too. I kept thinking how wonderful it’ll be when her toddler bed finally comes in.

Sally called around 9:30 to let me know she was making the banana pancakes she had when she’d come over last month. We chatted a bit and agreed to meet sometime today. She said she didn’t want me to have the baby and not give me my baby shower gift yet LOL.

I tried sleeping more and then when I finally woke up, started making banana pancakes, too. We had 5 bananas that desperately needed to be eaten so I used one and saved 4 for some banana bread later.

I checked my e-mail while I was cooking and got the notification about Alaethia’s toddler bed coming in to Walmart. Sweet. Mario woke up around an hour later after I told him to get up (he’d been outside drinking beers with Adan till 4am!). Mary invited us to go watch Coraline. I so wanted to watch that movie so I got ready, Mary got Alaethia ready and Mario got ready. We learned about some drama going on in the family, so we stood around talking about that for a while.

The movie was SO darn cute! Alaethia made it a little difficult to watch, since for most of the movie she refused to sit down. She spent the rest of the time jumping from lap to lap declaring loudly that she wanted to go to the car. She was really scared at the end. I was too far from Eenan to see how he was reacting, but during a sad part towards the end Jaylen lifted his 3-d glasses and wiped at his eyes with the back of his hand. My poor dude!

It was such a good movie that even Mario enjoyed it. I could have watched it all day. I love that type of Intru 3-D.

Mary took all the kids with her and we went to meet Sally at Las Tiendas. I set up my e-mail properly on my Centro finally, while we waited. We stood around talking for a while and she gave me her and Pete’s gift: one of those shopping cart/high chair covers. Too cool. They didn’t even have those around when Jaylen and Eenan were babies and we didn’t get one for Alaethia, though I really wanted to. I’d told her about how cool those were when we had breakfast with her and Pete at Le Peep a while back and she said not to let anyone get it for me ’cause that would be her gift to me, and it was!

We talked a while more about house renovations she and Pete are making and told her to get a hold of us if they need help again. That type of stuff comes second nature to Mario and his dad; they hadn’t remembered and poor things forked out a lot of money.

After we met with Sally, we went straight to Walmart. On the way there I figured out how to upload pictures from my Centro to my Flickr account! I’m hoping I can upload a pic of Emily from the hospital, if I have the strength and time, of course.

We picked up some pillows Jorge asked us to and picked up Alaethia’s bed. It’s so cute.

I dropped Mario off at Jorge’s since he had some stuff to help him with and I came straight home to make dinner. I’d been wanting chicken chalupas for a while so I began to make them. Mario texted me to go to Yadira’s, where everyone was, and I told him I’d just started making dinner so I’d be there soon. He came over to pick up his beer an hour later and that’s when I was finally done. I made him eat–because he hadn’t eaten all day–and I ate and so did the kids. Mary stayed with the boys and Mom stayed with Aly while I went over.

The girls sat around the table, as usual, and we shared gossip and were all just stunned with the news we’d heard about earlier during the day. Yazmin asked to see my belly, as in bare belly, so I lifted my blouse and showed them my beautifully round, stretch-marked belly. Everyone came over and rubbed it LOL. I need to take pictures of my bare belly, stretchmarks or not. I need to chronicle everything I can since this’ll be our last lil’ one.

After everyone started slowly leaving, Mario and I hung out with Yadira, Tommy and the kids. I forget why our initial visit to Yadira’s closet happened, but we were looking through her things and she showed me her box of Hannah’s tiny baby things she’d saved from when she was born/passed away. I still don’t know how you word that. I felt a little…apprehensive, I guess, while she was taking each tiny thing out and describing it. I was afraid it would be too hard for her to talk about it but she seemed fine. I think it was a bit therapeutic for her.

Mario and I left around 10:30 and had a conversation on the way home. We were talking about the girls’ room and the toddler bed and sleeping arrangements for the girls and me and my hormones started getting the best of me. I felt like he was telling me I basically sucked at training the kids with sleeping but he wasn’t. He was just trying to tell me both the girls would end up sleeping in our room like the boys did for a really long time. Then the conversation steered into one about our relationship and how we’ve really come a long way. I’m glad :). It’ll be 10 years next month!

So now I’m here, blogging with a tiny, curly-haired girl climbing all over me. She hasn’t had a nap all day and still isn’t even nodding her head. I told Mario I need to get the rocking chair back from Mom and get her on a schedule.

And tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the day I get all the final baby things ready. I told Mario earlier, imagine how funny it would be if I go into labor tomorrow after being at Yadira’s today. When I went into labor with Alaethia 2 years ago we’d been at Tommy and Yadira’s the night before for Angela’s birthday. I really hope she waits till Friday, though–if today’s even the week it’ll happen. That way Mario doesn’t have to miss work!
