Friday Night & The Dentist

I finished with the Lil’ Mama code checks today and out of 91, I only have 35 (34 not counting me) members left, just as I’d suspected. How disappointing. The drama-queen in me wanted to just close down the darn thing but I thought about how long I’ve had it, and how it really was the first clique for moms and I decided I’d keep it. I’m happy that the members I do have, have stuck with the clique so long .

Anyway, Friday night we all got ready and headed over to Jorge and Maggie’s when Mario got home. Eenan didn’t go, as usual, since he was sleeping over at Mary’s. Mario wanted something to eat, so we stopped at Star’s. I was driving and absolutely hate driving when Mario’s in the car because he makes me 10,000x more nervous than I already am. After getting his and John’s food, and Jaylen & my milkshakes, we went to drop off some movies we’d rented. Then we finally got to Jorge’s. Hiram was there, too. We all just laughed and a had a good time. We kept trying to convince John to do the “Riverdance”, but he was being a poophead and didn’t want to. The guys (well, except Jorge LOL) said they’d Riverdance if John would. They even had this whole syncronized dance planned out, but John refused . It would have been fun. Even more fun had they done it and I had my camera .

There was also this poor, old little chihuahua running around the neighborhood looking for a warm place to sleep. His owners just left him out there in the cold (and trust me, it was cold). We were all sitting in the garage, and he happily pranced on in and found a bed in the corner. He had this huge bump on his side…looked like someone either beat him or he got run over and his ribs were broken . Mario and Jorge kept trying to run him out, because they thought he was looking for a place to die (rudeness!), but the rest of us begged/yelled for them to let him be and they did. Jorge and Maggie let him stay over night and in the morning, when they opened the garage door, he ran out LOL. Poor little guy.

On Saturday we just chilled out here, then in the afternoon Mary and I left to pick up Yadira and the girls and we left to Nuevo Progresso, Mexico. Mary needed a root canal, and getting it fixed over here would cost about $400, not including what her insurance covered. So we went to Mexico, where it would cost about $150. I had a holey tooth since the filling had fallen out and decided I’d brave the needle and get it redone. Mary said it would cost about $15 per tooth, which was great. The dentist was really nice and was making small talk. He kept saying he couldn’t believe I was 22 and that I had kids. We talked about how young I got married/had kids/etc. and about where in Texas we were from. I ended up getting 4 teeth done, and it came out to $35. Later on, after talking with Mary and Yadira about what the dentist and I talked about, Yadira said he was flirting and that he gave me a good price because he liked me . Whether that’s true or not is beyond me, but I’m thrilled I got a bargain LOL. I didn’t know I had so many darn cavities . I brush my teeth twice a day (should maybe start brushing 3 times considering how much crap I eat) but I don’t think it helps that I eat so much candy. I hadn’t flossed in forever, too . Last night when we went to Wal-Mart though, you can believe I bought some spearmint flavored floss. I don’t want my teeth to fall out !

I want to go back next week when Mary gets her root canal done. (She couldn’t get it done that day because her tooth/gums were too infected and they wouldn’t go numb. They gave her medication and she’ll hopefully get it done this weekend.) They highlight your hair at this one salaon for $15! I so want to get highlights and now that Mario actually agreed of course I’m getting them done. I haven’t dyed my hair since before Jaylen was born…or since before I was pregnant with him even! I need to get my hair cut first…I never frickin’ went to get it done! Yadira said she wanted to get them done too. I just hope they don’t ruin my hair .

Mario got a flat tire on his way home from work last night. He bought a new tire, replaced it and now our car isn’t making that horrible side-to-side jerking it was doing. The old tire was all shredded and might of had a “ball”, so Mario thinks it was probably just that and not the suspension. Yay!

Tomorrow’s Monday…which means another week of waking up early. Gosh I hate it . I try to take a nap during the day but I can’t. The times I do take a nap I wake up with a headache and feel shittier than I did before. Blah. I should get to those dishes (been putting them off, as always!) and take a shower and head to bed before it gets too late. Er, late-er.

Patience Is A Virtue

Hadn’t blogged in a few days due to a horrible cold I got. I’m finally almost completely over it, thank God.

So Pixiehost finally received a payment from me. I had to manually send it, which is what I think I’m going to do from now on since their billing system is not working. I had some downtime that same day I made the payment, which kind of pissed me off, naturally, but it wasn’t for long. Or, so I hope it wasn’t.

Saturday, I dragged my sickly ass to two parties with the mom-in-law and the boys. I felt really bad–my whole body was weak, my head was killing me, I was coughing up a storm and my nose was dripping like a water faucet–but I’d promised her earlier in the week that I’d accompany her, so I obliged. We went to visit Gramma first for a little while. She’s doing so, so well . Jaylen and I had some sugar free candies with her and chit-chatted and then we left.

The first party was a pizza party at Peter Piper. I thought I was going to die. The kids didn’t make it any easier on me. Sure, most of the time they give me a little trouble in public, but it was a thousand times worse considering that I felt like crap. Melissa had a Shark Tale theme for Jaimito and had gotten two tables. On the center of each table, she had a little goldfish bowl with a Beta fish and pastel rocks in it. Needless to say, the boys fell in love, would not leave the table, and I practically had to drag Eenan out when we were leaving. She was raffling them and a few plush fish she also had on the tables and we didn’t win anything, which made Eenan feel worse.

We left to the other party, which was a surprise party for one of Mary’s co-worker’s sons. Jaylen had crayons and a little activity book that was in their goodie bags from the previous party, so he was cool. Eenan took his Gameboy SP down with him, and his game was pissing him off so he was quickly developing an attitude. After threatening to take it away, he finally started calming down. The birthday boy got home, and everyone yelled out ‘Surprise!’. He wasn’t surprised…someone had left an invitation lying around and he found out about it. Bummer.

Since I’d already eaten two slices of pizza, some strawberry soda (very little…it was yucky) and a buffalo wing at the pizza party, I only had a cup of beans to eat and a Coke to drink. Broke my no-caffine streak. And it totally fucked up my stomach too, let me tell you. I had the most increcible gas EVER and I got constipated. TMI, I know, but that just goes to show how bad that crap can be (even though it tastes really good sometimes *sigh*.) The boys and Mary ate and I spoke with Yvonne, another of Mary’s co-workers about potty training. Her Goddaughter has been potty trained since she turned 2. I told her about how I’ve tried potty training Jaylen since he was 1 1/2, then I give him a break because he gets annoyed and doesn’t want to cooperate. She said her Goddaughter’s mom would encourage her to pee in the potty chair as soon as she got her out of the tub and then one day, just stuck her in panties and never put her back into diapers. She would also give her little treats or prizes when she’d successfully make it to the restroom. I didn’t ask about accidents and she didn’t mention them so I don’t know about that. She did tell me what I knew all along: boys are a bit harder to potty train. You’re telling me. Eenan didn’t get potty trained till he turned 3. He just wouldn’t do it. Couldn’t stand the sight of underwear and he could have cared less about prizes. All he wanted was his diaper. Then one day, while watching Blues Clues, he asked if I could bring his potty in front of the TV, so I quickly did so, and lo-and-behold, he POOPED! I was thrilled. I left the potty chair in the living room, in front of the TV till he got a bit more used to it and would only put him in diapers at night, for about 3 nights. Then I just left him in underwear after that. He had a few accidents during the night for two weeks after that, but I got him potty trained. And now, I’m trying with Jaylen. Have been since Monday. I thought I was going to go bonkers…he kept peeing on himself and everything around him. But, if I want him potty trained, then I’ve gotta put up with it. I kept having to tell myself this, after counting to 10 . I almost busted out the diaper last night after he peed on my lap, and my Hello Kitty blanket that I wrapped him in. He was SO moody since he caught my cold and I was a bit annoyed that he’d peed once again and almost threw in the towel. But I can’t. When I finally put him to bed, I spread a towel on the bed and then layed him on it, just in case. Didn’t even switch him to diaper during the night and guess what? He actually didn’t pee ALL NIGHT! And that’s because he woke up at around 6:30, coughing and drank a lot of water. I’m so proud of him ! So far today, he hasn’t had an accident. He hasn’t pooped since yesterday, and that kind of worries me. I already had to wash poop out of his undies the last time I tried the potty-training-thing. Not fun!

Sunday was Angela’s birthday and she wanted to celebrate it at the zoo, so we did. It was SO COLD! It was in the 40’s. The poor animals were all huddled up together–they looked so cute! I’d never been to the zoo when it was cold. It was kind of uncomfortable when we first got there, but once you got used to it, it was cool (no pun intended, heh). Sure beats walking around in 90-100° weather though! I still felt like crap that day, worse even. But I put on a happy face and trudged along. Jaylen kept getting out of his stroller to look at animals and was well-behaved for the most part. Eenan on the other hand was always at least 7 feet ahead of us and was being very impatient. Noelia ended up taking him with her, which I wasn’t too happy about because that meant as long as someone else would listen to him, he didn’t have to listen to me . We ended up meeting around the petting zoo and the kids had a blast there of course. I loved seeing the sugar gliders and these tiny pygmy monkies. And the squirrels, meerkats, lemurs, spider monkeys and so on. If I could, I would have smuggled them to the van in my pocket .

When we were visiting the gorillas, one of them was in the background happily eating his own poo. Yadira saw him first, and alerted us and then she started gagging like crazy. I gagged too and controlled myself, and when I turned, Yadira was in the corner…puking. I almost puked just knowing she’d puked LOL. We looked at the last few things and then went to the (dreaded, horribly expensive) gift shop. Big Mario had given the boys $25…and they used it LOL. They each got two huge, curling rubber snakes (as luck would have it, they didn’t charge us for Jaylen’s! Yay!), Eenan got a dinosaur pen and Jaylen got 4 huge lizards. They had a blast.

We went to a pretty park nearby and ate sandwiches and chips. Angela and the rest of the kids wanted to play, so we walked over there. I think the adults had more fun than the kids LOL. There was a huge pirate ship play area and a whole bunch of swings and monkey bars. I wish we had a park like that around here…ours is really small, but at least there’s one. Maybe Friday, if I have Noelia’s car and she doesn’t have anywhere to be, I’ll take them to the park after picking Eenan up .

Later that night, Angela and Yazmin came over and just chilled out. I fed all the kids spaghetti and then we all left with Mary to Yadira’s for Angela’s cake and presents. She was so happy. The kids gave her a Playful Heart Monkey and she just hugged him while she opened the rest of her gifts. Mario surprised us by getting to Yadira’s after work before we did. He’d told me he was going to be doing something (forget what) and then he was coming straight home to work on the headliner for the car. We chilled out, then came home earlier than everyone else since we were going to get to work on the car (and still had to bathe the kids and put them to bed). The headliner was a pain to install, but we did a pretty damn good job *beams*. It almost looks factory, except for one little pucker behind the rearview mirror.

I haven’t updated my “weight loss journal” since I got sick. I probably won’t anymore, since I got kind of tired of it (hence the reason I didn’t make an extra site for it alone even though I really wanted to). I have been watching what I eat (except for today, had some sour patch kids, cheetos, and 2 lolly pops–I’m a cow!). I hadn’t exercised either since I hurt my left wrist somehow. I don’t know if I slept wrong, or if I hurt myself when doing bench presses…or what. It was hurting so bad I had to wear a little Ace bandage thing. Didn’t help that I’m a clutz and kept banging it into every single thing I passed by. I will keep it up though–eating well, exercising–because I really want to lose a few pounds. I’m determined to do it.

Going to go finish fixing up my collections. I was dusting the poor things today and organizing my Popples (finally got a hold of a ladder!). I’ll hopefully get some updated pics posted in my collection page tonight.

It’s Back! My Site Is Back!

*kisses pixydust.net* Oh my God, I was dying yesterday. I *need* to write type down what I’m eating because for some reason it helps keep me in check, and my darn site was down ALL DAY! My host kept trying to bill me since Jan. 1st, and they still haven’t gotten the payment. I kept getting weird e-mails from them (with just ‘Pixiehost Billing’ in the e-mail and no subject line) and they never charged my credit card. Then yesterday, they suspended my site . I was being a pain in the ass, I know this, and kept posting on the forums and submitting tickets…but I was desperate! And I didn’t do anything wrong! I was so worried they were going to delete my site, too (because after 14 days of non-payment, they remove the site from the server). I’m just glad everything’s back to normal and they’re going to get someone to figure everything out with my billing issue. *whew*

So everything was cool during Jorge’s birthday on Thursday night. Our kids played with their kids and at around 10:30 (an hour and a half later than his bedtime), I put Eenan to sleep in one of the rooms and thank God he stayed asleep. I just chilled out with Maggie, her sister and her sister’s daughter and helped out with little things here and there.

John didn’t come over this weekend, don’t know why. I’m assuming it’s because he’s tired of me telling him to just quit talking to his ex. It could also be because I keep bugging him to eat right (because he goes hours without eating) and he’s prone to getting diabetes and skipping meals will only speed it along. I’ll never understand him.

Aunt Nora and Mom called a few days ago to let me know about problems they’re having with one of Gramma’s checks. Long ago, around 1995, she was receiving a supplemental check (or something like that) and they took it away when we moved. I’m still not sure why. Well, when Aunt Nora went to pay the nursing home, they tell her she owes $100-some because she’s not turning in that other check. She tells them Gramma hasn’t gotten it since ’95 and they say that she should be getting one. Aunt Nora calls Social Security and sure enough, there’s a check going out to Gramma, but no one knows where and they definetly are being cashed. So now they have to figure out who’s been cashing them and all that stuff. What morons. They were even telling Aunt Nora something about possibly having to “pay back”…hello? We haven’t received anything, why should WE pay back? Grr. .

As for our income tax, we figured we aren’t getting too much, because Mario didn’t work 7 months out of last year and of course, I didn’t work. We were planning to put some money on our property, but that’s not happening. And we definetly won’t be able to buy new wedding rings .

Yesterday was Bonnie’s birthday, so we all got together and ate cake. Yes, I broke down and ate 2 small pieces of cake, but I figured I’d been good, so I indulged. We flipped through Mary’s photo albums and had a nice time listening to stories behind certain pictures.

Mario has today off, but he won’t be having his days off again for a long while. All during Income Tax season. We went to JCPenny to get Eenan a new shirt for his Group Picture. While we were there, the boys found some dinosaur shirts that came with a glow-in-the-dark dinosaur and begged for them, so we got them matching shirts. They had such cute clothes in the juniors department…I hope I can lose a few pounds and buy some. The colors were all pastel-y and cute!

We went to visit Gramma for a while after that. I hadn’t seen her in 3 weeks! It was nice seeing her. All the physical therapy they’re doing with her is helping her out tremendously. She can actually pull her legs in front of her now and move her feet. Before, she always had her legs curled up to one side and it hurt her to move them. Mary and I were talking about that a few days ago and she said it’s the best thing that could have happened to her. I agree. We miss her SO MUCH but we’re thrilled she gets to socialize with others her age and she does physical therapy and gets her nails done and everything .

We went to H-E-B and picked up a few groceries, mostly for bar-be-cuing at Jorge’s tonight. Mario’s making his famous homemade Buffalo Wings. Must be strong and only eat a few!

Going to update my weight-loss log thingy since I missed yesterday.
