Errands, Dizziness, Baby Fingers and Demo

We had a very eventful day on Friday. We all got ready (including John) and left to visit Isaac at the hospital. John stayed with the boys in the truck while we went up to see Isaac.

He was doing great that day. Natalie, Isiah, their mother and another little girl was there with him. We didn’t even say hi to his mom–we were a bit disgusted by her behavior, which I won’t mention here, but we opted to ignore her. We ended up talking to her by the end since she wouldn’t stop talking while we were trying to talk to Isaac.

We talked to Isaac about everything. He told us his diabetes was at 400-some when he got to the hospital and he lost 30-some pounds in a month. He looks really fit, but it’s unfortunate that he lost all that weight because of his sickness.

I was standing near the wall across from Isaac and Mario was right next to me. When we were all talking about diabetes and how he needs to be careful I got this horrible ringing in my ears and started feeling really dizzy. I felt really hot and sweaty and then the room started turning blue and white as I tried to focus on something. I softly told Mario, “I don’t feel well,” and Isaac’s mom overheard and had me sit down. My heart was racing and I fanned myself with my hand to calm down. When I finally felt better we got up and excused ourselves since it was time for Isaac to eat. I still felt really hot and I felt that my blouse was completely soaked in sweat. I didn’t know what was going on; I’d never felt so bad.

They released Isaac later on that day. Thankfully, his mom agreed to let him go back home with Cat and Annie.

We went to pick up Mario’s check after that and were relieved that it was indeed a nice check. He was afraid (as always) that since it’s been slow, he wasn’t going to make enough. Thankfully he did–we had to put aside for Eenan’s party, pay bills, buy the supplies for remodeling, pay my dad-in-law back for the money he’d lent Mario the week before and buy groceries and stuff for the house. Thankfully we had enough to do everything we needed to do.

We got some lunch at Burger King (stupid Luca Pizza in McAllen was still being worked on). After the kids played in the indoor playground for a little while we went and got the tickets for Monster House before they sold out. John was going to watch Clerks but it ended an hour after ours did so he got tickets to Monster House instead.

We had about 45 minutes before the movie started so we stopped by the Home Depot nearby to get a few things we needed for the bedrooms (plugs, coaxial cables, speaker wire, etc.). We went to Wal-Mart after that to get the rest of the stuff we needed.

Since we’d just eaten we stopped by a gas station and just got candies to snack on (which cost about $2 less than buying them at the theatre!). The kids were exceptionally well-behaved and were content with their Life Savers Gummies. It was a pretty good cartoon. Very funny and it kept you entertained (Jaylen didn’t even fall asleep this time!). Gotta buy that one on DVD :).

We picked up some yummy pizzas from the Luca in Mission. Mario had to go back since they jipped him out of $10. He kept counting and recounting the money and told me to count it. I told him, “We’re missing $10”. When he got the money back he said, “The guy was new. Apparently he’s not good with math. And since I’m not good with math I thought I’d check with you since something seemed off.” LOL

We ate in a hurry and Mario started working on the cabling. He had to go up into the hot attic to run stuff to the new bedrooms and he came back down looking like he’d spent a week in a cave. He had cobwebs all over himself and was dripping in sweat.

Later on (Mario was still working on all the cabling) my dad-in-law came over and they started working on the new door to the hallway, which used to be the door directly to our huge bedroom we shared with the kiddos. Since they added the new walk-in closet to our bedroom they had to move the doorway 3 feet to the right to coincide better with the hallway. After lots of sawing and hammering (and a layer of dust in the living room) this was what we were staring at from the living room:

Demo

Scary. The entryway into the hallway’s going to have a nice angled arch to match the arch that divides the kitchen and living room. I can’t wait till it’s all done!

I spent the rest of the evening sweeping up drywall dust and fetching anything Mario needed for what he was doing. It was 1am by the time he finished. In the end the speaker wire wasn’t run correctly because the wall’s shaped funny and the cable in the living room didn’t work, probably due to an old plug that was already installed there. He ended up having to run the cable that was hanging out of the wall back out just so we could at least have TV in the living room.

I don’t remember much from Saturday except feeling more tired than usual and still feeling short of breath. I went to the doctor first thing in the morning only to be there for 1 hour and not get seen. People that were there way before me were finally being seen by the time I got annoyed and left. I was annoyed because I was there so long and because on one side of me there was this horrible mother yelling at her daughter and on the other side there was a kid who’s dad was in a daze and couldn’t hear him shaking a tin can full of coins. Who carries a tin can with coins in a diaper bag??

Once I got home and felt better I dragged John with me to reserve Eenan’s party and then we went to H-E-B so I could get groceries. (I kept becoming short of breath and started suspecting that my heart murmur was back.) I got a pretty good amount of food for $75–very proud of myself. When we got back home my dad-in-law arrived with the rest of the supplies we’d ordered: sheetrock, joint compound, electrical boxes and other stuff. Ricky’s brother hooked us up and we got the sheetrock for $4 a sheet. The catch is, the corners are slightly damaged, but hey, for $4, Mario and his dad had no problem trimming the sheets. They sell at Home Depot and Lowe’s for about $8 a sheet.

We went to sleep early since we were to wake up early on Sunday. Mario and Big Mario were going to start working on the room. They put up most of the drywall and I’m so proud of my Babe–he did most of it himself and didn’t mess up one sheet! Drywall used to be his least favorite thing about construction because it never failed that he’d get a measurement wrong and he’d have to start all over. But he did SO good this time.

Elda’s birthday was Sunday so we went over to Mary’s to celebrate. They had shrimp cocktail and OMG it was good. We talked for a while with the family and then I came back over here to see what Mario and his dad were doing. I’m so, so thrilled with the way everything’s coming out. I can’t wait till it’s all done. Big Mario even approved of the colors I want to paint the rooms (we can do what we want, but have to get it approved with the landlord, heh).

Everything’s mostly done–Mario was so tired (poor thing) that he left a few small areas without sheetrock but he can do that in a snap when he’s got the time. Other than that, everything electrical needs to be done and then the taping/floating/sanding and the texture and painting. I CAN’T WAIT!!!

John went with me to Wal-Mart to get the rest of the stuff I needed and then Mario had me stop by Video Plus to rent some movies. We didn’t get around to watching them last night (you know you’re parents when your kids are watching the Disney Channel and you’re watching it along with them!).

I got up, saw Mario off to work and then ate breakfast. Then I got to sweeping all the rooms since everything was covered in sheetrock dust. I got tired after sweeping only my kitchen and living room–which aren’t big at all. Tried taking a nap, but of course THAT didn’t happen. Got up and swore not to stop until I finished sweeping and mopping. After 3 water/apple cleaner changes, the floor was back to normal.

I had my appointment today to see what was up with the episode I had on Friday. Again, I waited for over an hour. I had an appointment at 2:30 and they didn’t see me till 3:40. All that waiting just to find out that I definitely had the heart murmur again and everything I was experiencing is normal. While I laid on the table and he ran the ultrasound wand over my belly I could see the baby moving around. She/he was so active today! Dr. C had me hold the wand while he went out to get something. A book. He explained a little more about the heart murmur and how 90% of women get them during pregnancy. While he read I ran the wand over and over myself and saw the baby turn back and forth, pick up it’s little legs then stretch out–how cute is that?? I got a look at her/his perfect little hands–all 5 fingers were present :). I can’t WAIT to find out what this baby is so I can start buying little clothes! I can’t wait to HOLD this little one :).

Ack, it’s 7pm and I haven’t even started thinking of what to make for dinner. Toodles!

Gender Prediction–Woo!

This is the coolest thing! I took a gender prediction quiz based on Old Wives Tales and my answers suggest I’ll be having a girl!

Congratulations!

You have a 21% chance of having a boy.
And you have a 78% chance of having a girl.

And Here’s Why…
You are carrying the extra weight around the hips and bottom, so it’s a girl.
The hair on your legs is not growing any faster during your preganacy, so it’s a girl.
Girls are carried high. You are going to have a girl.
Sleeping in a bed with your pillow to the north indicates that you will be having a boy. (I didn’t know what that meant, but answered it anyway.)
Your feet are not colder than they were before pregnancy. You are having a girl.
You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread. You are having a girl.
Dad-to-be hasn’t been gaining weight along with Mom-to-be, so it will be a girl.
The maternal grandmother doesn’t have gray hair (dyed or natural), so a girl will be born.
You didn’t have morning sickness early in pregnancy, so it will be a boy.
You are not looking particularly good during pregnancy. Therefore, it must be a girl, because girls steal their mother’s looks.
Your chest development has been quite dramatic during pregnancy. You should expect a girl.
Since the sum of the mother’s age at conception and the number of the month of conception is an odd number, it will be a girl.
A needle on a thread held over you belly moves from side-to-side, so it will be a girl.
Your urine is a dull yellow color, so you will have a girl.
You have a craving for salty or sour foods, which means that it is a boy.
Your nose hasn’t changed during pregnancy, which indicates a girl.
You have been craving fruits, so it is a girl.
Your baby’s heart rate is 140 or more beats per minute, so it’s a girl.
You have no desire for orange juice, so it’s a boy.
You are not having headaches, so it’s a girl.
Your belly looks like a watermelon, so it’s a girl.
You show them the palm of your hand, so it’s a girl.
You use the handle, so it’s a boy.

Here’s the quiz I took: Will it be a girl or boy?.

Getting Things Done

Grr. Darn dog. He was doing so good with his potty training yesterday; he’d whimper at the door everytime he needed to go out. He totally reversed today and is back to peeing and crapping wherever he pleases. We are completely out of paper towels (eating dinner tonight was a task–we had breaded (fried) fish, corn and Ranch Style Beans) because I’m constantly cleaning up after him. We have plenty of toilet paper, but his pee sops right through. Yuck.

I woke up this morning and expected to find Louie sleeping in his bed or to come running at me and attack my legs. To my surprise, he wasn’t in his bed, didn’t attack me and there was no sign of poop or pee anywhere. I whispered, “Louie! Where are you?” because they took the door down when Mario and his dad were working in there and I didn’t want to wake Mario up. Then it dawned on me–he must be sleeping with Jaylen. It’s the only other soft surface he can jump on besides the couch and he wasn’t on the couch. I check, and sure enough, he’s under the covers and comfortably sleeping beside Jaylen. It even looked like Jaylen had scooted some to make room for him. Before I could scold him I ran and got my camera and as soon as I took the picture he sprang up.

Busted!

He’d gotten up so fast his ears flipped over themselves–he looked so funny.

John and Jaylen accompanied me to my doctor’s appointment since John needed to “officially” withdraw from school and Jaylen didn’t like the Spiderman backpack we’d gotten him so we needed to exchange it. John waited outside and Jaylen went in with me.

They got my vitals first. I lost a pound. I’m 124 right now, so I guess I heard wrong the last time and was 125? There was no glucose in my urine this time, nor were there signs of my bladder infection–it’s all gone! My blood pressure was also fine. Thank goodness.

After they took my vitals, Dr. C and I chatted and he talked to Jaylen for a little bit. Then he scooted Jaylen closer to the exam table so he could see his little bro/sister.

I had a list of questions tucked under my side and I told Dr. C. I had a few things to ask him when he was done with the sono. He said, “Oh, let me see,” and got the list and started reading and answering:

– Is family allowed during delivery? Only 1 person is allowed with you, maybe 2. It’s usually very crowded with all the nurses and doctors.

– Is husband allowed to stay overnight? Absolutely!

– Is there private rooms available? Yes.

– How much extra if not covered? Ooh. I’m not sure. You usually get one anyway unless it’s extremely crowded that day.

– What can I do about my acne? We’ll talk about that right now.

– Pain in the pelvic area is due to ligaments? Correct.

– More prenatal vitamins; need prescription. No problem.

We got to talking about my acne. I told him I couldn’t stand it anymore. He said, “You know, usually acne clears up during pregnancy.” I said, “I know! That’s what happened with my other two, but with this one it’s been terrible!” To my surprise, he nonchalantly said, “It must be a girl this time.” He also checked to see if I was able to use any kind of acne medication and the answer was no–everything’s too strong. He said to try Neosporin. We’ll see how that works out.

He got measurements of the baby’s body (the baby’s size shows that I’m 12 weeks 5 days, as opposed to my LMP which says I’m 12 weeks 3 days), then got to looking around for privates. He searched and searched, but we saw nothing. We did see the baby move and her/his heartrate was at 152bpm so that’s great. He asked if I was feeling any movement yet and I told him I’d been feeling something but I wasn’t sure if it was the baby or not. He gave me a sono pic, my prescription and said he’d see me in 3 weeks when I’m 15 weeks. Jaylen behaved so wonderfully.

The whole visit took about 30 minutes, which was great. I love my doctor and office!

We went to pick up my prenatal vitamins left (have to remember to go back tomorrow since they owe me 30-some pills). They were really quick this time; they usually take half an hour!

Next on the to-do list was getting John withdrawn. We get there, speak to the head honcho who tells us she was going to drop him today anyway since it was the 10th day. Basically, we didn’t have to make the trip over there. We got some Nesteas and some Hot Cheetos with Cheese and left to Target.

Jaylen was cranky and was acting up at Target, but once he found his backpack he was more calm. He liked a Darth Vader one, but it was too long. He liked a Spiderman one, but only because he liked a water bottle it came with. We showed him some dinosaur ones and he ended up picking a brown/tan T-Rex one with the condition that we’d get him a water bottle.

Where the heck do I find a water bottle like the one that came with Eenan’s backpack (which just so happens to be The Annoying Thing–thank you Babe and Cartoon Network for introducing him to that darn thing)?

I bought myself two cute pens (one with 6 colors!) and some for the boys from the Dollar Spot. There were SO many cute things this time. I had a whole bunch of stuff in my cart, but put them back after thinking for a bit.

We went to visit Mario at work for a little bit and I showed him the sono pic and told him how everything went. He’s so excited. He told me he has a feeling the baby’s a girl too, especially since that guy, Luis, did that calendar thing for us. We’ll see if his 99.9% accuracy is true with us as well ;).

John and I laughed all the way home. I was scaring him because I was singing along to “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness and sounded just like the lead singer. Buahaha.

We ate lunch when we got home and then watched Click. Mario, Jaylen and I watched it last night but John wanted to see it. It was so funny, but at the end, OH MY GOSH. It tugs at your heartstrings. I found it very difficult to stop crying (damn hormones). It was so sad, even Mario teared up. Jaylen gets scared when I cry, so he was just silently staring at me while I buried my face in the blanket.

So, while John was watching the last part, I was throwing the trash out and cleaning out of earshot of the TV. I couldn’t stand crying again. When it’s over I sit next to John and ask him, “Did you cry?” and he yelled, “YES! I was expecting The Water Boy and instead I got The Notebook!

After the movie my 1st doctor’s office called–the one that sucked and wouldn’t be seeing me till tomorrow? The nurse called to remind me about my appointment and that there wouldn’t be any nurses available at that office for two weeks so I’d have to go to the clinic in McAllen. I told her I wouldn’t be going to their clinic anymore, so not to worry. I’m SO GLAD I stopped going there!

As for Isaac, he’s doing a lot better than he was yesterday. Mary informed me that at the time of his arrival at the hospital, his kidneys were already failing. I can’t believe he was that sick. It’s scary. Turns out he’d also been having symptoms of diabetes for a while now but he never really said anything because he didn’t know what was going on. I’m just glad they found it when they did. It could have been much worse :(.

On a happier note, Liz has been more active during the day. She hasn’t been as secluded as she was a few days ago. She also did her first poopie (that I’ve seen) and has enjoyed eating her live crickets. We’re out again. I should have bought her more today while I was already in town.

Exploring

Whooo. Getting sleepy. I can’t believe it’s already midnight. At least I got everything done that needed to be done today. I have another long day tomorrow–Mom has her hearing aid appointment. Joy.
