I’m Alive…

…I’ve just been too exhausted to type anything up. I don’t even want to take a shower right now but I smashed my hair down with gel this morning and I just need a shower so I have to take one. Bleh. My feet have throbbed in pain for the past two days–they’re not swollen or anything, just hurting.

My appointment went well yesterday, except for the fact that I somehow gained 5 lbs. in one week (!), but when I weighed myself here at home it said I’d lost a pound O_o. Weird. Good news is the pressure I was feeling last week is probably just Alaethia’s feet kicking my bladder and her head pressing up against my lungs since she’s feet-down. She’s been super active today. Must have loved the egg salad sandwich and Deviled Eggs I was craving tonight :).

Jaylen’s first field trip was today, Eenan’s first UIL meet is this Saturday, I ordered their school pictures, and our 2nd real Cool Front (I won’t call it a “cold” front because it wasn’t) came in this morning around 10:30am and it felt GOOD. I wish it felt that way all the time.

I’ve got lots to update on, including the passing of Wookie and possibly Grim (John’s cats) and our beloved Gerby-gerb (Smokey). We also gained a pet: a Blue Spiny Lizard which was a present from my dad-in-law. I’ll get to it all tomorrow if I get a chance since Mario will be home and I like to be attached to his hip when he’s here :P. Goodnight!

Our Adventures: Home Depot and the Homefront

You know, if I were on The Price is Right I would have totally won about 25 cars/vans/trucks, 10 cruises, and lots of other junk I wouldn’t need in my house; like cat litter and CLR. Some of these people–you’d think they never get out of the house or see the ads in the Sunday newspaper. A guy once bid 72,000 on a Ford Focus. Dur.

Anyway, it’s actually raining today. I had to use an umbrella and dress the boys in jeans for once. I’m just afraid to see how bad the mosquitos are going to get. We already have a tick problem, for Chrissakes.

I’m officially 5 months pregnant. According to my LMP I was 5 months along on Sunday, but according to the baby’s size I’m 5 months today. And boy can you tell! I wore my crinkly, white maternity top from Target with a jean maternity skirt today and I looked “especially pregnant”, as John likes to say. While Mario was getting ready for work I admired my swollen belly on our floor-lenth mirror and asked him, “Do I look pregnant or like I’m just really fat with a huge gut?” He turns to look at me, eyes widen and says, “No, you definitely look pregnant!”

I’ve been noticing since last week that I just keep getting bigger and bigger, little by little. Mary felt my stomach a few days ago and said, “This is going to be a big baby!” It sort of worries me–just a little though–that Alaethia’ll be as big as Eenan, or bigger. The reason my former doctor induced me with Jaylen is supposedly because he didn’t want me to have complications with Jaylen, who was predicted to be bigger than Eenan. He was delivered at 38 weeks exactly and weighed a healthy 6 lbs. 4 oz. Imagine if I’d waited till he decided to come out on his own–he would have literally ripped me apart (sorry, TMI), like Eenan did.

Anyway, Mario has further put us into dept and gotten us a Home Depot card. I wasn’t too upset, since it does come in handy with all the renovations we’re doing. We decided to take a trip over there on Sunday morning before Mary’s birthday get-together started. So we went.

We stopped at Burger King really quick to get some of those $0.50 sausage biscuits; because we were starving and were low on cash. Ate in the parking lot, laughed and talked about our first years together and got our (very long) list out to start shopping.

The first thing was a bit of an indulgence for him, but something he needed for work anyway: a new toolbox. What is it with men and toolboxes? He’s got, like, 10 already.

We got the doorknobs for all the doors, some door pulls and some hinges for the kids’ closet doors. We checked out the bedroom doors–the ones that already come prepared and hinged and all of a sudden it dawns on me that I didn’t write down the measurements for our closet door. Oh well. Then it dawns on Mario that he forgot his wallet. WHAT?

We go to Services and ask if we can use our temporary print out, but one little thing, we forgot his ID? And they said no. One guy really tried helping us out, but nothing could be done. We ask them if they can hold our merchandise and they say, “No. We don’t hold items. If you want you can leave your basket there, but it might not be here when you get back.” How sweet.

Came all the way back home and got the darn ID. I made sure to be very sweet and not mention anything about the incident to keep all hell from breaking loose. We go back.

We get there, and Mario quickly adds me as an authorized user, just in case. To our relief (and sanity) our basket’s still there with all our items. Mario went to find one of those rollers that carries wood, while I waited in the door department. This perv of a guy comes right up to me and asks if I need help, all the while staring at my boobs. I’m thinking, “Don’t you see I’m pregnant, you ass?” but most men don’t care about little things like that. Ew.

Mario arrives and the guy quickly scurries away. We get the two 36″ doors for the bedrooms and the two 24″ doors we need for the kids’ closet. When Mario’s inspecting the doors since most of them were cracked he moved one and about 10 of them started falling foward, in slow motion, I swear. I yell at Mario, “Babe, watch out!” and he just stares at them. Instead of moving out of the way he stupidly held his hands up, as if he were going to be able to hold the doors up. Thankfully the tiny edge of the shelf they were on held them up. I can’t believe he didn’t move out of the way! We all, including himself, made fun of him at home.

We get to the register and pay. We get to the van (the stuff wouldn’t have fit in our truck) and Mario starts loading everything. I notice that one of the 36″ doors has a crack, so we leave it on the roller to take it back. Something makes me look at my list and I notice it says, 2 32″ doors. I gulp and tell Mario and brace myself for the bitching that was going to take place. As I assumed, he threw a fit and I quickly got fed up. Halfway back into the store I yell, “Um, at least I noticed MY mistake HERE. YOU left your ID at home and we had to go BACK!”

On the way to the Returns register, I show him a rug I liked for the kids’ room. He responds with something like, “I don’t give a shit,” so I toss it back into the box it was in and bit my lip. We didn’t speak to eachother after that, probably because we were smartly holding our tongues. I got our money back, then went to find what we needed.

I guess he had some time to think while I was in line and realized he was being an ass because he said, “We’ll get the doors and then you can pick out the rug you like.” I told him no, I changed my mind and he said, “Really, you should get it.” I wasn’t being stubborn, I just didn’t like that the rug was black. We made peace after that and just laughed at all our damn bad luck that morning.

We get home and everyone was already there. We tell everyone about our adventure and eat. The whole day was pleasant, except for a little tiff I had with one of Mario’s aunts, but whatever. I spoke my mind.

Oh, and I also basically got volunteered to watch Mario’s aunt’s baby, Matthew. Yup. Now I’m babysitting two kids. I felt super overwhelmed, but they’ve been doing alright (except that Matthew’s REALLY fussy today!), Noelia will be babysitting him two days out of the week and Elda would get the other two days. I decided I’m only doing this till Christmas break and that’s it. I want to enjoy my last month of pregnancy and there’s no way I’ll be able to watch my kids plus everyone else’s and a newborn.

On top of watching all the kids I got some news that my kids might just not have health insurance anymore. GREAT. One more thing to worry about.

Peanut, Noelia’s 10 1/2 year old chihuahua was knocked up a few months ago by Noelia’s 11 month old chihuahua, Gizmo. Everyone was terrified of the day she’d go into labor because we didn’t know if the puppies would make it, or worse, if she’d even make it.

Yesterday, Isaac (Mario’s cousin who is staying with Yadira) called me over to Noelia’s room in a slight panic. Peanut had a water bag hanging out and we had no idea what to do. I was volunteered (as always) to help with the labor but I’ve only helped cats give birth. The water bag emerged around 2pm…she didn’t have her one and only puppy, whom I affectionately call “Little Cow”, till 11:30pm. Noelia had to intervene because the puppy wasn’t breathing very well but he’s doing wonderfully now. I thought for sure Peanut would have more because of how round she was, as did everyone else, but she only had her one puppy. I’m so glad they’re both okay :).

Okay, I’m going to check on Peanut and Little Cow now and try and figure out what’s bugging Matthew (Mom and John are entertaining him but it’s not working anymore LOL).

School Shopping & Parties

First, a very Happy Birthday and 4th Anniversary to Mayra!!

The First Thursday we went to wasn’t at the Civic Center. I found out it was in the City Hall parking lot. How I mixed those two up I have no idea.

It was pretty cool. There was a Sound Off and everything. The boys behaved wonderfully the first half of the time there, then when they started complaining we whipped out the Gameboys and they were angels again.

Amplified

That’s one of the trucks that belongs to the company Mario works for.

Mario got paid Friday so the first thing we did was cash his check and then had lunch at Long John Silvers. I could go for some LJS right now *drool*. The boys ate almost all their food and I’d been craving a crabby patty so I got one of those along with my meal (are they just called crab patties? I can’t help thing of Spongebob.)

They also had these cool little hats and I had the boys take pictures. As you can see, Eenan had been crying before so he’s got a shiny tear at the corner of his eye and tear spots on his shirt.

Arr, Matey 2

We took the boys clothes shopping after lunch. The crowds weren’t so bad for being tax-free weekend. We usually don’t go during the tax-free days to avoid the crowds, but we had no choice this time as we both wanted to choose the kids’ clothes. I realized that day that Gap now sucks. They wouldn’t let me just exchange Eenan’s polo shirt. I didn’t have the receipt (Yadira forgot to give it to me), but they’ve exchanged his clothes before and now they have this stupid policy where they send you a check-by-mail and you won’t get it for weeks. Idiots.

Anyway we got them 3 screen-print T’s and some cargo pants at JCPenny. The shirts were buy one get one for $1–love when they have sales like that. We were looking for some cargo shorts since it’s hot over here till around November but most stores only had “Fall” clothes. We checked a few other stores, like the Children’s Place and nothing. The kids were getting antsy so Mario got them some cotton candy while I changed our payment date at JC Penny for a later time (since all our bills accumulate at the beginning of the month and we have the biggest payment–the car). We went to Old Navy next, where we found them a pair of painters shorts each. Then we went to Walmart for their socks and undies but we need to get Jaylen’s undies since they never have his size. I got a maternity blouse for myself. It’s one of those airy tunics; brown with light brown/teal beads around the collar.

Sorry for the smudgy quality. My lens was dirty and I didn’t know till after I took all the pics.

We went to Jorge and Maggie’s that night. Eenan finally went with us. Jaylen’s nose bled from both his nostrils. It freaks me out when he gets nose bleeds. Mario says he was the same way when he was little though and still occassionally gets nose bleeds when his nose is too dry. We stayed there till 11:30pm just talking about different things. We were supposed to order pizzas but I guess everyone forgot. On the way home we ordered from Whataburger and ate at 12 midnight O_o.

I had bills to pay so I appointed John to go with me while Mom watched the boys. I deposited money at the bank, then went to Ross to hopefully find some maternity clothes. The crowds were much worse on Saturday since all the people from Mexico were here shopping. I’d still rather fight the crowds to find nice, inexpensive maternity clothes though. I can’t justify spending $20-$30 a blouse at those big maternity stores.

After browsing through the one rack of Small clothes I ended up with 3 blouses and 1 pair of black cargo pants. I wanted more, but I had a budget so I didn’t spend any more. They have such cute Halloween stuff and so many nice bed sheets and comforters. I got some dinosaur sheets for Jaylen’s twin bed (whenever we get it) and a Pirates of the Caribbean Spy book for the boys to share.

Again, dirty lens=crappy pictures. Plus, my futon’s black and that’s where I hung the shirts for the pictures.

We went to JC Penny next, where I searched for parking for half an hour and couldn’t find anything. When I decided to stalk a couple who was coming out of the mall to take their parking space, this little skinny asshole stole my space! And he WAVED while doing it! I so wanted to get off my car and ring his pencil-neck or key his car, but decided I’d be the bigger person and move on. I ended up parking right in front of the door and told John to stay there in case a cop told him anything.

I paid our two bills there and then took our rings to get cleaned. Mario’s had to be resized and needed a diamond replaced. Total time for all this? 8 weeks! I have to be without my rings for 8 weeks. It’s Wednesday and my finger still feels naked :(.

We went to Walmart afterwards and got a few groceries and the house-cleaning necessities. On the way home I paid for our storage bill and thank God we were done.

The next day Mary treated us to the movies. We watched The Ant Bully. It was really cute. I told John when I got home that if I didn’t know any better that movie was made about him. He tortured ants most of his childhood.

We had a party to go to next. The decorations were so nice and the centerpieces were delicious–literally. It was a fruit bouquet and it was so good.

Fruit Bouquet

There’s my mom-in-law in the background, heh.

To make a long story short–I hated that party. They had this man entertaining the kids with games and all he spoke was Spanish and VERY broken English, so my boys didn’t understand a thing. They were so frustrated. They even tricked the parents into going over there and playing the games. There I am, pregnant, and I had to sit and pop balloons that the kids were bringing me so they could win a prize. And of course the bigger kids won instead. Mary finally ended up sneaking over to the prize table and “got them” some cute wooden boxes with crayons in them LOL.

It was also a sad weekend for some of our pets. We decided on Sunday that we definitely were giving Louie away. We’d decided last week that we’d give him another week to potty train and he refused. We woke up Sunday morning to find the kitchen and living room floors covered in poop and pee. That was it. It’s too unhealthy for me and the kids to be cleaning up poop all the time, so we called Yadira up and she found him a new owner right away.

And, since Choco Kitty had her kittens, my father-in-law and I had decided he was taking her and her babies to the ranch. We don’t have money to spay her right now, so instead Big Mario took her somewhere where they need lots of cats. The ranch has tons of mice, so they’ll do well there.

Mario had been on a lottery ticket kick and after losing $22 (yup, he spent THAT MUCH), he won $14 then $50 and then $12. He could make a living out of that. Kidding.

We went to a get together for Mario’s dad’s side of the family. Betty and Vanessa are pregnant as well and Vanessa’s having two boys! Betty’s hasn’t let itself be seen yet, but I’m pretty sure she’s hoping for a girl since she has two boys as well. It was nice seeing everyone.

As for the remodeling, they already threw on the texture and are ready to paint. We’ll be getting the paint this weekend. The huge 8 foot shelf I had with my 80s things on it and the kids’ books and movies has been emptied into bins. I’m PRAYING that they get those closets ready soon. I have the boys new school clothes hanging on the back of the couch since there’s no where else to put them and it looks so messy :(.

Today, I have to make some more calls to share the big news and later on we’re going to the movies. Fun, fun :).
