Movie Weekend

Yesterday was much more fun than I thought it was going to be. The kids were awesome at Peter Piper. Mary bought that 60 Token package so the kids had a blast using up their 30 tokens each. We ate pizza (which I wasn’t sure I should be doing since my stomach felt really upset, but I was fine), the kids had ice cream and we chilled out for a bit before the movie started.

We went to the Border Theatre in Mission. I hadn’t been there since…high school maybe? Either when I went with Letty, or with Rejeana, but I don’t remember ever going with her. Anyway, it had been forever and it’s really a nice little place. They only have two movies showing at a time, but it’s great. It’s only $1.50 to see the movies and the prices for the food are exceptionally reasonable. I love that the water costs $1.00 compared to the $4.00 it does at Cinemark. But then again it is a whole liter…

So it was Mom, Mary, Jaylen, Eenan, Yadira, Tommy and their kiddos who were watching the movie together. Jaylen was being a little pain in my butt from the moment we arrived there. It really surprised me–I’ve never had trouble with him at the movies. He went from whining about some candy in the quarter machines to wanting his OWN popcorn (he didn’t want to share with Eenan) then he stole my water and wanted to sit next to Eenan on the other side of the isle. He changed his mind about 4 times and finally came to sit with me. When he was handing me the bag of popcorn back, he dropped it along with his pickle. Then he cried, loudly. Then a lady fell in the isle, which was really scary. It took 4 people to get her back on her feet. That kind of quieted him down and he ended up snuggling up on my lap, playing with my hair and falling asleep.

Poseidon was actually really good. Really suspenseful. I bit my nails off once again. Eenan was sad at the end. He was upset that all the people weren’t saved :(.

Later that night when Mario got home from work we watched Firewall. Another really good movie that had me screaming, “That bastard!”, at the TV.

Today, Mary treated Noelia and I to the movies again. This time, we watched The Lake House. I’d been wanting to watch it since it first came out, but Mario took one look at the previews and said, “That movie’s going to SUCK.” It was one of those romantic ones that has you thinking, ‘Could love be so huge that something like that could actually happen?’ I had a lump in my throat all through the end, but I didn’t cry! I didn’t have any napkins left, so I held it in as best as I could.

We went to H-E-B afterwards to get a few groceries and I got two of their by-this-get-this-free deals. The stuff I got came out to $38, but with the “deals”, I only paid $26! I LOVE H-E-B!

Seems like my movie weekend isn’t quite over yet. Mario just called (he’s on his way home from work/Manny’s house) and said he rented Memoirs of a Geisha (we’ve rented it twice before but both the movies didn’t work halfway through!), Cheaper by the Dozen 2, The Ringer, and Eight Below. Gonna chop up some watermelon and get comfy on the couch.
