Treats

So tired…but I’m watching Wedding Crashers with Mario and I know he’ll absolutely hate it if I go to bed and leave him up by himself.

Anyway, remember how I mentioned that Gramma had Shingles? Well, come to find out the “flu symptoms” John was having this week weren’t flu at all–he’s got Shingles, too. How he got it, we have no idea. When we went to see Gramma on Christmas Eve and then on the 29th John didn’t go with us. I’m taking him to the doctor (since his doc wasn’t open today) as soon as I get home from school tomorrow, God willingly. He’s starting to feel itchy and that’s not good.

I’m so scared of the boys getting this. Shingles is the adult version of Chicken Pox and since the kids haven’t gotten them I’m a bit worried. Shoot, I’m afraid of Mario and I getting it! I start itching every time I think about it!

Mom, Jaylen and I went to the All City Garage sale this afternoon. I hadn’t gone since my last birthday, so I was really excited. There wasn’t much stuff since we got there kinda late, but in a way that’s good because I didn’t spend too much LOL. I found myself a vintage Custard plush from Strawberry Shortcake, Spritzie Sprite, Pancake pocket Popple, and a Care Bear book. Jaylen got a vintage Ninja Turtle blanket, a mini Neopet, I got the boys two books and Mario a Hotwheels Chevelle. I think that’s it. Hopefully we can go again next month :).

We went to Target after that where I fell in love with all the scrapbooking stuff in the dollar section:

Aren’t they just adorable? I almost lost my mind and used my 10% discount (for opening up a credit account–I actually passed!) and bought all the scrapbooking stuff. I won’t be using my credit card though. Not until I start working at least.

I’ve got so much cool scrapbooking stuff. Now all I need to do is either buy my Kodak paper/ink or take my photos to Walgreens. I’d love to start scrapbooking again.

Okay, gonna cuddle with Mario and watch the rest of this movie. Gonna have to make a pot of coffee in the morning.

Go Away, Rita!!

I’m in a bit of a panic right now. Been watching the news all day and it definitely looks like hurricane Rita’s making her way over here. So far it looks like it’s going more towards Galveston and Houston, but you just never know if it’ll go a bit more south. If it does, we’re screwed. This hurricane’s been in the water so long I’m afraid to know what category it’s going to be by the time it makes landfall. I feel so bad for the people who live in Galveston and Houston; and for us down here if it hits us. Maybe it isn’t such a good idea to be watching this documentary on the History channel–they’re mostly talking about hurricane Katrina.

So far, we haven’t prepared at all. Even with hurricane Emily we were at the Dollar General as soon as word was out that it would be here in a few days buying water, canned food and batteries. They say it should be here by Friday night and we haven’t done shit.

What if it does come down here and it’s a Category 3+? My in-laws’ house is wood-frame and over 20 years old, I feel sick just thinking about what might happen. Our apartment might make it since it was built just a few years ago, but their house??

I’m on the verge of hyperventilating. Oh gosh, and the flooding! I’m not talking about the type of flooding that happened in New Orleans, I’m talking just a few inches, maybe 2 feet of flooding. It floods REALLY BAD in front of our apartment and the back of my in-laws’. Just 2 weekends ago when there was a 30-minute thunderstorm John and I were out there sweeping the water out and frantically trying to pile up sandbags to keep the water out. We need more sandbags *bites nails*.

Gotta think of something else…um…started on Access today at school. It’s pretty interesting and not as difficult as I thought it’d be. We had an assignment, where we had to make up a company and employees and add them to a database and guess what our company name (Lucy, Rossy, and mine—Mayra, Ricci and Joe were in another group) was? 80’s Antiques. And I swear it wasn’t just my idea, Lucy was actually the one who brought it up . It was cool. We finished pretty early so I made a banner out of some of my collections pics. Can’t wait to see what else we’ll do.

I feel a little better. John’s making fun of me because I’m freaking out and publicly posting about it, but just wait. Just wait till the hurricane’s almost here—he’s going to turn inside out with paranoia and write in all caps in his blog. Ha!

I Love You, But…

Mario got the day off yesterday. I spent the morning watching American Idol and Medium episodes I’ve missed, and when he woke up, we got ready and went shopping. We returned some jeans he’d bought at Target and browsed around. We ended up buying some Play-doh for the boys, Mario got a few little tools he needed and I got a Gentle Heart Lamb beanie. I don’t have any of the “new” lambs, so I got that one but he’s not too cute LOL. He looks strange . And this time, they had the Cheer Bear Cub…dammit.

We went to eat at Whataburger, then went to JCPenny. Mario got some more jeans, 2 shirts, we got two dress shirts for his Tio Cata since his birthday’s today and I got 4 shirts. I had the hardest time picking stuff. Not stuff I like, but stuff that won’t make me feel self-concious. I tried on one of the collared stripped ones I got and the woman in charge of the fitting rooms was just staring at my chest and her eyes were about to pop out. She even made a comment about how I should keep the large because it would shrink (even though it was huge and hanging off of me). I didn’t ask her for her opinion. I wish I could just wear the clothes I like without worrying about who’s going to be looking gawking at my chest. I didn’t ask to have them!!!!

Anyway, everything we got was on sale and didn’t even know it! I love when that happens .

I have to go back Saturday for some shoes Mario wanted, so I’m planning on getting two white tanks, some sleep shorts (all of mine are OLD) and maybe another shirt or two. Or a skirt.

We went straight to pick Eenan up after that, then realized we had time so we stopped by a store to pick up some stuff for Mary. We went back and Mario and I complained the whole time about how the parking for that school is ridiculous. He hadn’t suffered through that yet and I don’t think he realized how much of a pain in the ass it is when I told him about it.

We got home after picking Eenan up and I collected all the plastic totes and baby stuff we were taking to the storage unit–all without Mario’s help. I wanted to disassemble the bunk beds, but of course he wouldn’t help me with that either. Mary had stuff to put away too, so we stuffed everything in the van and left. When we get there Mario notices he doesn’t have his keys and I didn’t bring mine because I just never carry them, so we didn’t have the key to the unit. Great. Mario was all pissed of course, because the storage place is FAR from the house. We go to H-E-B to renew John’s plates and they didn’t let us since Mario didn’t have his license (he always carries it in the car and well, we didn’t have the damn car ). We went back home, Mario throwing fits left and right, got the keys and went back–without him. I was worried about how we’d get the boxes out of the van because some were REALLY heavy but Mario ended up getting there a while after we did. He helped us and then we went back to H-E-B to get the plates updated and Mary needed groceries. They almost gave me crap about Mario not being present, but I told the girl I spoke to the other girl and she saw who my husband was and blah-blah-blah. So, she did it.

Mario wasn’t exactly sunshines and rainbows when I got back home, but we were being a bit more peaceful. I can’t believe how annoyed we’d get with eachother. First time that’s happened in AGES. We didn’t say super mean things to eachother, but we were just getting frustrated–and over little things even. By the end of the night though, he was holding my hand and being sweet. Good thing too, I was ready to kick his ass .

I fed the boys and then he told me to get ready since he wanted to go to a movie. Eenan would sleep over at Mary’s and Jaylen went with us. When 9pm finally rolled around, we left. We watched Constantine (my 2nd time) and Jaylen did pretty good. I kept trying to rock him to sleep since he was sleepy anyway, but he wouldn’t. He watched it all and only jumped twice LOL.

So tonight’s Cata’s birthday get-together. We’re having shrimp cocktail…yay! I hope Mario doesn’t get out too late and makes it to the party. Right now, I should make lunch since we’ll have to leave to pick Eenan up in an hour. I can hardly wait *sarcasm*.
