2 Awesome Weekends in a Row?!

I dragged through last Friday. It felt like the longest day OF MY LIFE. BUT! They celebrated Jesse (my co-worker) and my birthdays, which made it go by much faster :).

Jesse's and my birthday cake at work :)

I also had a ton of errands to run after work, like buying the hot water hose for the washing machine and the new plug for the dryer from Home Depot. Then I had to buy a blouse, because I was out of clean clothes and had nothing to wear for Jesse’s party that night.

We were late, as always LOL. And almost DIED on the way there. There was a long line of cars that were stopped at a green light on 10th street and we had to stop and then swerve out of the way in like, 2 seconds. I had Emily’s carseat loose in the back and it came flying forward and hit me on the elbow >_<. I was kind of in shock so I didn't feel the throbbing pain till about 15 minutes later! We hung out at Russo's for Jesse's party for a bit with the work peeps and then headed to Longhorn Steakhouse. We sit down, excited to have a drink...only to find out they close in 10 minutes. Oh well. I had a quick Watermelon Margarita which was AWESOME! I'd never had one of those before!

Watermelon Margarita from Longhorn Steakhouse. The BEST!!

We went to Buffalo Wild Wings right after and had a very late dinner >_<. It was super good though; I'd never had the Spinach & Artichoke Chicken on Flatbread! Now I wanna make some at home. But I was doing my research and making Flatbread at home takes AT LEAST 4 hours! I wonder if I can buy some good, healthy flatbread? Mario had the kids that weekend :( and my babe was at work but I managed to keep busy. I cleaned the house, unpacked and organized (I love that everything has its place!), bought groceries, visited Gramma (who is super nearby now :D!), and made the Spinach Artichoke Dip I was contributing to Harvey and Evelyn's potluck going away party. They're a Winter Texan couple who volunteer at the Chamber :). They're leaving for the spring and shall return permanently during summer and they invited a few of us to dinner, aww :). I hurried through the dip and then got in the shower. My babe called that he was on his way home, yayyy! I rushed over to Harvey and Evelyn's, where Michelle, EZ, Maritza and Teo already were. It was nice talking and laughing with my co-workers :). The food was GREAT! And everyone loved my Dip :)!

I left home and then made some lasagna for everyone at home. I had a teeny piece since I’d already stuffed my face at the party. We went to sleep semi-early and tried our hardest to sleep in but NOPE! We were up by 9 and then again at 10 hehe. I made omelets for us and eggs for the boys and Mom. We ran errands at Target, Walmart and Home Depot, did some little home-improvement things here and there and we dug out the bird feeder. I’d bought that fairy bird feeder back in 2001 when I sold Avon!! And I finally had a yard and tree to call my own and hang it from :). Next we need a hummingbird feeder to attract them!

Finally hung up my fairy birdfeeder!

We were cleaning up the yard so we changed…and promptly had a waterhose fight :). I only wish my kiddos had been there to have fun with us, but we will soon :). Mario came to drop off Emily and all the other kids wanted to stay so I told him I’d drop them off :). It’s so nice watching them sprawled all over the house, comfortable, being able to run and play as they please. I’d waited so long to see that :).

My babe’s friend and his son and daughter came over and the kids all played wonderfully together. I made dinner and we sat outside on the patio while the kids played tag and then ate. It felt like time had gone by so quickly; by the time I knew it, it was time to take the kids home :(.

It was such a wonderful weekend :). Jaylen’s birthday was Monday and I got to see him for a bit, but we’ll hopefully celebrate this weekend. This week is a short work-week so I’m keeping the kiddos since Thursday night :).

I passed out last night (those Tostadas I made were so delicious I went into a food coma LOL), and my babe stayed up late assembling our dresser and the last bunk bed ♥. Even though I slept 3 hours, then woke up and showered and slept 4 1/2 more, I felt refreshed, got ready on time and made my babe some breakfast. We had our first next event’s meeting today and had to take the dreaded picture for the paper >_

My Last Year as a 20-Something!

I wasn’t expecting much this year for my birthday, especially since we just moved into the house and have had bills to pay and supplies to buy. And–not to be a total drama-queen and sound like a spoiled brat, BUT–in years past, in my “previous” family, my birthday was usually just something everyone got together for at the last minute. Everyone else’s birthdays were a planned event and mine…well, it was kind of an afterthought. Sometimes some people couldn’t show up if it was during the week. And of course, my ex wasn’t one to do things on his own and if his mother didn’t plan something, then it wasn’t going to happen. So every birthday I would just say, “It doesn’t matter, I really don’t want to do anything. It’s not a big deal.” And it really wasn’t.

Most of the time I would try and act like it wasn’t important. But having a big, planned out party would have been nice at least once =\. So this year, knowing we had a lot on our plate and that my babe might not be home, I just wanted to be home with the kids and have a nice pizza night.

A co-worker of mine had a sushi place, Zushi, offered to him for his birthday, so he asked if I wanted to celebrate my birthday alongside his. I said yes after some hesitation (like, 2 days hesitation, heh). I was skeptical; most of my friends work late and my babe was working out of town and couldn’t make it back home :(. But he told me I should still celebrate; he didn’t want me home bored on my birthday (he’s so sweet!).

I wasn’t excited at all. And it never fails that things just don’t go right on my birthday. Some things are so ridiculous I can actually laugh about it! Like lunch that day for example: the guys asked where I wanted to go eat. I didn’t know where to go so Michelle suggested a few restaurants. I picked Cheddar’s. Get my food, it’s delicious, and then I notice a lovely HAIR wrapped around my Alfredo noodle :(. I lose my appetite. They remove it from my check and bring me a brand-new (hairless) one. And probably only because they knew it was my birthday LOL.

So the kiddos and I all went to Zushi, along with a few co-workers. The kids did amazingly well…up until the last 10 minutes of the close to 2 full hours we were there, heh. They can only last so long. I said my thanks you’s and excused myself since the girls were running up and down the aisle (and this place is on the shmancy side LOL). I took them home and Emily stayed with Mario, too.

The gang was going to have a few drinks and they said I better go. A few of my friends that couldn’t make it to dinner were meeting us Downtown. I was excited about that, especially since I hadn’t seen the two Daisy’s and Jessica in a while!

I went, reluctantly. Clubs just aren’t my thing anymore, but everyone was excited so we went. First stop was Frida’s, where Michelle treated me to a Mango Margarita. Man, those things are SO GOOD. I drank some and then remembered to whip out my camera to take a picture, then took another sip…and Wally’s son and Michelle both yell, “STOP! Don’t drink it!”

They tell me they see a bug in it and sure enough…there is. I’d already drank some LOL! So I give it to the bartender and he laughs, somewhat embarrassed, and makes another one. As I’m about to take a drink–and I’m so not kidding–a HUGE cockroach zooms through the air and lands on my shoulder. I can’t help screaming like a girl. Everyone in the bar and in the restaurant turns. How embarrassing >_<. The rest of the night went without incident, thank goodness! All-in-all, it was a good day. As sad as I was that my love wasn't here, I got to spend time with my babies and chill out with my friends and co-workers and I felt wonderful. I even got a few gifts from them, including chocolates from my boss, which were totally unexpected and greatly appreciated :*).

Aww, gifts from my co-workers :')

Now, the way I felt the next morning was a totally different story, hehe.

Emily’s 1st Birthday!!

Just updating really quick to wish my Emily a happy birthday in this last hour of the 24th :). We’ve had a good day. We visited Sally and Quentin and she made us an amazing breakfast that Emily really enjoyed. Alaethia, my little bird, picked at her food as always and was much more interested in playing with Quentin and his toys. We visited Mary and her coworkers and everyone cooed over how pretty the girls are :).

I picked up the boys, John came over to do laundry and I got ready for Taekwondo. It as Ernesto teaching today and he put on a chest protector and was my Target as he taught me sparring techniques. I was super tired by the end of class, to say the least. I got home and washed up and made Emily a brownie fudge cake. Mario picked up Dominoes and we had a nice little dinner at the in-laws’. John and Mom were there, too, of course and Elda and the boys came over. It was the cutest watching Emily make her squinty smile s she watched the candle burn while we sang her happy birthday. And she had a blast feeding herself cake and smushing it all over.

Jaylen’s sparring equipment came in so I picked it up. He’s excited. As I was walking out of the school Ernesto tells the two teens there, Salvador and Junior, how well I was doing my mula kick. It was nice to hear :).

And in closing I ant to say I just feel so blessed to have Emily in my life. All 4 of them. I still remember when I found out I was pregnant with her; it was such a shock and I was so scared. But she is the apple of all our eyes. Happy Birthday, my tiny buddy :). I love you!
