Sadness, Conspiracy and Updates

I’m so sad. I was surfing through Pink is the New Blog and found out that Rev Run and his wife, Justine’s, newborn babygirl died shortly after birth via C-section. She came early and apparently suffered from omphalocele, a condition where the organs are outside of the body :(.

This is just devastating! Their whole new season was documenting the pregnancy of this baby; what will happen now? The cameras were there when they found out she had this defect and later died. I just can’t believe this happened :*(. Shouldn’t an AFP, amniocentesis or Ultrasound detect this type of defect????

Now I’m paranoid. I know I shouldn’t be worrying myself sick for nothing, but the maternal alarms go off at the drop of a dime when I hear about things like this. I’m especially paranoid because of my pregnancy with Jaylen but I’m so glad this pregnancy has been okay so far. I’m praying it stays that way.

Changing the subject, the Republicans are doing a great job with the gas prices–you know, for exchange of votes to stay in charge. We’re seeing gas prices anywhere from $2.09 to $2.12–and if you get gas at Circle K (Citgo) with their prepaid card, you get 3 cents off each gallon! How nice of those bastards (Reps) to conveniently knock down prices by .65 cents in two weeks. Weren’t we just in some kind of gas slump a while ago? Hmm…

Let’s see…as for this past week, because once again it’s been exactly a week since I’ve updated, lots has happened. I’ll try to turbo-summarize, although you know how hard it is for me to do so.

We got together for Isaiah’s birthday on Sunday. We had pizza and salad. We all sat around chatting for a while and then I moped around because I had to go to Target to get a few things and I didn’t want to drive (like a shower curtain rod since our other one wasn’t a curtain rod but a PVC Pipe–ghetto, yes and we never bothered to change it until it almost fell on me).

I ended up getting the curtain rod and 5-shelf bookcase for the kids that was on sale for $26. I still had all their books in boxes in our bedroom and it was quite unsightly. Mario needed a light for work, I needed refils for my Schick razor and the kids needed more cough medicine (Triaminic tongue strips)–so yeah, I spent more than I initially thought I would.

On the way home from Target, I get a call from Mario that he and Eenan were at Chris and Nancy’s, so for Jaylen and I to stop by after we dropped the moms and purchases off at home.

The kids were so well behaved that night; I was so proud. They did have a few moments where Nancy and I were talking and we’d hear a screech once in a while, but they’d quickly quiet down when told to do so. They were in her bedroom (where Nancy let them watch TV) and Zeus, their Chihuahua, was in there so they were really happy.

We ate (the men were bar-b-q’ing outside) and then watched Desperate Housewives. God, I love that show! Too bad I have to wait a whole week before another episode!

Mother had one of her dreaded 3-hour appointments at the Endochrinologist on Monday morning. I dropped the kids off, made Mario breakfast and saw him off to work, and then Matthew got here just in time for us to leave. It was super hot inside the office and Matthew hates feeling sweaty so I took him outside where it was actually nice and cool due to the rain and cool front that had rolled in overnight. All the benches that were available were sunny, so I asked a girl if I could share her seat and she said yes. Turned out that she was a girl I new who also has her kids in the same school Eenan & Jaylen go to. I would see her around and never thought I’d have anything in common with her–we were too different. She was the type of young mom who looked like she was a princess at home–nicely dressed from A.M. to P.M. and didn’t seem like she would do much at home just from her appearance. I’ve always had that bad habit, where I judge people by their looks; something I hate myself for. I sadly get this horrible trait from my mother.

As I spoke to the girl I realized we had so much in common, from the ages of our kids, to our ages, to things we liked. We even lived next door to each other for 3 years and didn’t even know it. And she’s a great mom–when Matthew started fussing she asked to hold him and put him to sleep in less than a minute. That’ll teach me to judge a book by it’s cover. That’s one of my New Year’s Resolutions for ’07–to stop judging people. It doesn’t hurt to start your resolutions early.

Mary had to do me the favor of calling Sonia for me that day to pick the kids up. There was no way I was going to make it home on time to pick them up. Thankfully John was awake so she left them with him. By the time we got home they were both done with their homework.

Monday was a stressful day for me, especially since I started getting sick (sore throat) and had all the kids to take care of that day.

I didn’t have Matthew on Tuesday, but I did have Brianna. At least she was on her best behavior. I had a chance to finish putting stuff away in the living room closet and freed up a lot of space around here. I was washing dishes around 7pm when Jason finally decided to pick up Brianna. I noticed he was in his regular clothes so I made a sarcastic remark about how late they let them out of work and it turns out he was off but had Seth (his nephew) with him all day. Um, hello? And you couldn’t pick up Brianna? I would have been in a much worse mood but like I said before, Brianna was behaving so I wasn’t in a hurry to push her out the door.

Wednesday was a pretty normal day, except that my cold was getting worse and I felt so tired. I left a note on my door (Sleeping: come back at 11:00), because if I didn’t mother would be knocking till someone opened the door. Yes, that’s one of the bad things about living next door to your mother and in-laws. My in-laws at least get the point; Mom, on the other hand, does not.

I had a hard time sleeping that night due to my horrible sore throat, so I felt really tired when I woke up on Thursday morning. I dropped the kids off and then ate breakfast so I could be ready for when Matthew got here. That child was fussy all day and does NOT like to be left sitting or laying down–he MUST be carried! I told him I was sorry, but in my house we don’t have babies stuck to our hip. I let him cry it out a few times (because I did have to pee a few times during the day) and he finally fell asleep once. Brianna was a little bad-behaved that day and kept bothering Matthew, even while he was sleeping. She was picked up on time that day, earlier even, so I was glad for that.

Big Mario bar-b-q’d that day so I wouldn’t have to cook–yay! We had pork ribs, though half the people eating thought it was beef, but I didn’t have the packaging anymore so I had no idea what it was, I just knew it was meat LOL. Mario got home really early that day so we ate and then stayed up watching TV. I recorded Grey’s Anatomy and Ugly Betty–gotta watch those soon!

I dropped the kids off extra early on Friday, since they had a Jamaica (Fall Festival) that day. They treat the kids who’ve been well behaved all 6 weeks, and both my boys were attending :). I gave them $1.50 each for snacks that they’d announced they were going to sell. I’ve learned not to give them any more, especially Eenan who’s easily conned out of his money. They were both excited to go, especially Jaylen. For the first time ever he was jumping around in class. Both his teachers were surprised and said, “What a miracle!” because he’s usually so quiet LOL.

I came back home and napped with Mario till I felt him get up at 10:30. I tossed and turned for a while longer and then got up. He was nowhere to be found. At exactly 11:00 he knocks on the door. Apparently he was going to surprise me with a cinnamon roll from Whataburger but as soon as he locked the door he realized he’d forgotten his keys and didn’t want to wake me so he waited…aww :). Since they weren’t serving breakfast anywhere anymore we stopped by McDonalds’s (yes, unfortunately we don’t have much of a choice–I can’t wait till Burger King’s finished being built!) and got cheeseburgers and fries. Then we picked up the kiddos and went to Mario’s work to pick up his paycheck. It’s been so slow at work, like there’s no work whatsoever, that he got one of the smallest paychecks so far this year. And we had our darn car payment! After paying all the bills, getting the windshield sticker for the truck, picking up a pizza for the kids (it’s tradition to go out to eat when he gets paid) and renting just one movie we’re left with almost nothing. It’s depressing. Thankfully we filled up both vehicles with gas and have a good amount of groceries. We just gotta pinch pennies when it comes to everything else. *cries*

We sat outside in the cool air (doused in Off since there’s mosquitoes galore!) and watched our turtles get some exercise in the kiddie pool while the cats tried batting at them with their paws. So cute! Mario left to Chris’ for a while and the kids watched Cartoon Network (they get so excited on Fridays) so I watched America’s Next Top Model while eating a slice of heaven Hershey’s Sundae Pie. Mario got back in an hour and we put the kids’ bookcase together. Okay, he put it together, I just made sure nothing fell apart on top of him.

He got us cinnamon rolls from Whataburger (it was only $3.00–we’re obsessed) and we watched Stick It, which was a pretty cute movie. Too bad I couldn’t enjoy my roll since my cough was coming on full-force and I felt nauseous because of my sore throat. I desperately searched for the print-out of safe medicines to take during pregnancy that the doctor gave me. Thankfully, the cough medicine I got for the kids (Dimetapp DM) was on the list so I had some of that and slept wonderfully. I’m not feeling too shitty today, thank goodness, since we have a baby shower to go to.

Then I plan to veg out on the couch, get better and watch all the shows my DVDr’s recorded for me.

All About the Little Men

Friday was a pretty laid-back day for Mario and I. I took Jaylen and Eenan to school in the morning and spoke to Eenan’s teacher. When I picked Eenan up from school the day before he’d told me his substitute was a total bitch with him (though not in those words, LOL). Turns out she’s the mother of a student Eenan knows and who knows why, but she had it in for Eenan.

First, a boy kept bothering Eenan; writing his name over and over again on an invitation list. They don’t get along to begin with, but when Eenan had had enough, he scribbled his name off the list. Eenan was wrong in doing that but the boy kept insisting. When Eenan crossed his name out again the boy screamed and Eenan took the heat for it.

Second thing that happened was a boy named Rolando–who has the highest amount of books read in the class–went into Eenan’s desk and tossed his whole pack of notebook paper into the air. Eenan had no idea what happened; I asked him over and over again if he did anything to provoke him and he said no. So what does the substitute do? She asks them both, Eenan and Rolando, to pick up the papers. Rolando refuses to, so she makes Eenan do it himself. Eenan’s friend Christian is thankfully nice enough to help him. My question is: why the hell should Eenan pick it up if he had nothing to do with it???

I went to the teacher with all these complaints the next morning and she listened patiently. She told me she had a list of students that “misbehaved” according to the sub, but she’d speak to them individually. She said she’d especially speak to Rolando, since he was wrong and she’s repeatedly told them they should stay away from others’ desks.

I’m so glad she was so understanding. I asked Eenan if he was left out of free-time or if he wasn’t going to attended the Good-Life Celebration (a big festival they have for them at the end of each 6 weeks if they’ve behaved well in class and have good grades) because the sub told him he wasn’t going. He said no and that she didn’t mention anything about the Good-Life. Mrs. R. didn’t even talk to him about anything, which he was terrified she’d do. When I was walking him to the class in the morning before I spoke with her, she saw him and asked, “Where’s my Eenan? Are you hiding, Eenan? I know why you’re hiding.” But she was really cool about everything.

My poor boy. If I ever run into that bully of a woman or if she ever subs for their class again I’ll definitely have a word with her. How dare she pick on a child? Or choose sides with the kids, y’know?

I ran into Brandon and Elda when I was approaching my street on the way home (she didn’t have a car that morning) so I gave Brandon a ride to school and then came home. I sneaked back into bed where Mario was still peacefully sleeping and we slept till around 10:30. The phones didn’t ring or anything, but I kept waking up every half an hour since I’m so paranoid that I’ll be late to pickup the kids.

We were starving and Mario saw how tired I was so he suggested rushing to Whataburger while they were still serving breakfast. We had some delicious sausage biscuits and a cinnamon roll. OMG–I crave those rolls every single day. I want one right now! *drool*

The kiddos played in the room while we finished giving the bedroom doors and hallway entrance another coat of paint. Mario finally also closed up that 1×1 ft. square hole he’d made in the wall to accommodate the wiring for the surround sound. God it was ugly–I’m so glad he finally patched it up after what? A month?!

We picked up Brandon and Eenan after that and got all the kids in the car to drop off movie rentals and some junk at storage. The kids got a few (okay, more than they should have!) toys out of their bins since they took a bag over there of stuff that was old or that they didn’t play with anymore. We’d already fed the littlest ones fish sticks at home and Eenan wanted fish sticks too, but since Mario and I were starving we picked up $1 double cheeseburgers at McDonald’s (I ate so much junk that day!). And there was a hair or some kind of suspicious lint in our $1 fries. Why the heck do we keep going back there?! *gag*

We chilled out the rest of the day until around 7pm when Mario was going to pick up a drill Ricky was buying from a friend of Mario’s. I was bored so I went with him while the kids watched movies with Mom.

Since the guy was all the way in Weslaco we stopped by Jorge’s for a while. He told us about the headaches he’s been having and how the doctor told him to take it easy or he’d end up with high blood pressure. I told him we’re getting old since doctors are warning us about stuff like that already. These days you just can’t be too sure. It’s so scary :(.

We went through the “backroad”, which is Old 83, and found a gas station at the corner of Old 83 and Greene Road that had gas for $2.16. You can bet your buttons I told Mario to stop after stopping by his friend Manny’s so we could fill up the truck. That’s the cheapest I’ve seen it!

In my previous entry I’d written how I didn’t want to do anything all weekend except stay in with the boys. Well, that was out the window when Jaylen’s friend Karlyn invited him to his first non-relative-friend party! He was so excited I had to take him. He clutched onto that invitation all day yesterday and today LOL. I invited Mom and Mary to go with me and they did. We got ready then left at 1:30. We stopped by Target to pick up Karyln’s gift–a Bratz doll. My gosh, I felt the impulse to start buying a whole bunch of them for Alaethia; those dolls are so cute! I wish I had toys like that when I was little…darnit.

Mary got the kids some toys and I had the pleasure of putting together a Star Wars Lego thing for Eenan. I was feeling horrible for stupidly skipping lunch (I have no idea what went through me) so I was irritable, dizzy, shaky and HOT. I had the air conditioning on full blast and I still felt terrible. It’s so weird how hot I feel this pregnancy compared to the others. I didn’t feel this way till around 8 months with the boys.

We stopped by Michael’s and Bealls since Mary needed to return stuff and then went to see Gramma for a while. Then we lectured Eenan on how lucky is he to have all the things he does and that he needs to quit being a brat (he was throwing fits left and right for every little thing) on the way to the party. When we got there we got a call from Noelia that my friend Jessica stopped by. I know lots of Jessicas and she didn’t leave her last name so Noelia described her–it was Jessica M.! I can’t believe I wasn’t home when she stopped by. Wish she would have called though, so she wouldn’t have made the trip out here for nothing :(.

The kids had so much fun, even though Eenan was grumpy and whiny for most of the time we were there. Jason, Mireya and Brianna went also since Brianna’s Karlyn’s friend, too. I spoke with Karlyn’s mom for a while; we’d already met before I just can’t remember where. She said she *had* to invite Jaylen since she’s always saying he’s her best friend–aww!

The only ride they got on was the bumper boats, but they had so much fun. Jaylen was 3 inches too small to get on by himself (Eenan was exaclty 44″ and could go on) and they wouldn’t let me on since I’m pregnant, so Mary went with him. By the time the ride was over (and let me tell you, it was long!) all three of them were SOAKED. Mary’s mascara was running and everything LOL. Only two other little boys were in there with them and they were having so much fun spraying Mary, probably because she’s a lady LOL.

All 3 of the kids had so much fun hitting the Cinderella piñata. Eenan was the oldest there and ended up breaking it. He was hilarious though–I regret not taking video! He practically jousted her in the butt with the stick and then reached his hand in there and pulled the candy out. Everyone was cracking up. I need to upload the pictures I did take to my Flickr tomorrow. I must go now, as I have this warm, delicious cinnamon roll from Whataburger my love picked up for me on the way home from work <3.

Oh Yeah, Baby!

My first version of this entry was rather cheerful. Then I tried saving it and I got that bastard Sorry, you need to enable sending referrers for this feature to work. and it wiped my entry clear. ARGH!!!

Since Mario and John don’t understand that clearing the cookies fucks up WP, I had to draw a big, colorful sign and tape it to the tower. Hopefully, they’ll understand that: goddammit I clear the cookies once a week–they don’t need to do it every day. They can look at their porn or whatever they don’t want anyone to see elsewhere!

*cough* Anyway, before I left to pick up the children I’d successfully put Matthew (it’s my day to watch him) to sleep all on my own. Mom kept asking for him since he was screaming, wailing and flinging his body all over the place but I insisted on keeping him. I NEEDED to put the child to sleep on my own. The whole time I watched him last week I only put him to sleep once and that’s because he was sitting on my lap and quietly fell asleep. The rest of the times Mom had to take over since he was kicking me so hard.

But not today. Today I held his legs down until he got so tired of screaming he had no choice but to fall asleep. Too bad he’s awake and screaming now :(.

Since I didn’t have Matthew Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I took the opportunity to clean the whole house. I didn’t get to organize my room at all because I still had to look after Brianna and Jaylen, but I’ll get to that this weekend, hopefully. I’m praying nothing comes up. No parties, nothing. I just want to be home with my kids. MY KIDS.

Sally came over Tuesday afternoon. We chatted and gossiped for about 2 hours before she left at 3. I’ll hopefully get to visit Vero soon, who bought a house with her hubby and kids. I’m so happy for her :). Sally says her house is decorated as eccentricly as her personality. I can’t wait to see!

I picked the kids up after school that day plus Yazmin. It was her birthday so we all got ready to go to her get-together. Thankfully Mireya picked Brianna up at 5:15 that day so I could get everything done.

Everyone went over there, except Annie of course. She’s still supposedly hurt over what happened during the weekend (surprisingly, not what happened between her and me).

I went to the doctor yesterday morning. I’m 21 weeks now and Alaethia’s growing well. She’s so much bigger than she was the last time I went 3 weeks ago. I got to see her little knees and feet. She’s so active! I’ve only gained 1 lb. since the last visit, which I’m thrilled about. Hopefully I can keep eating well and gaining enough weight for her and nothing extra! Speaking of weight, she’s weighing around 0.8 lbs. How cute is that?

John and I grabbed a quick lunch at McDonald’s after we picked up the kids before I took him to his appointment at 1pm. Thankfully, my double cheeseburger was fine. When Mario went to get me a parfait a few nights ago it was 3 days expired! When I called to complain about it the lady who answered swore I’d be fine if I ate it. I took a bite and not only did it taste gross, the strawberries were a pale pink color–not the red they’re supposed to be! Bleh!

Anyway, John’s stinking appointment took 2 freakin’ hours! I was so pissed. It’s not his fault of course, it’s the damn ladies at the workforce. On top of it all he said they were rude and totally discouraging about him finding a job. What bitches.

Mario got home super early from work last night, which was a nice surprise. After eating dinner (Mole and rice), we watched Prime while eating Hershey’s Sundae Pie and then had some nice cuddle time after the kids went to sleep. I took a shower after we *cuddled* and then ironed. I didn’t fall asleep till midnight. Jaylen woke me up at least 3 times during the night. One time he was totally out of it and told me to go back to bed (!). When he woke up in the morning he said 2 “Cucuys” were chasing him and bit his back. He said, “I kept scweaming, ‘Mama, mama!’ and then they twansfowmed into six moh Cucuys and chased me!” Poor thing. That must have been the time he had no idea why he was calling me LOL.

I’m going to eat lunch now, some leftover Mole and rice maybe (and then follow that up with some Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and pickles!). Hopefully this darn entry gets to save!
