Dad’s Visit & Back to Work Blues

Mario dropped Adan off at the airport early. He got home and went about his business, doing work outside and so on. I woke up at 10am and sat in the living room, wondering what to do first. Mario came in just then with a big frame/white board. It was so nice; it had three sections. The first is for 4 photos, the middle is a red satin pin board and the last part is a dry-erase board. I’ve always wanted one of those. He told me Dad brought it for me as a gift and he was outside. It’s one of the nicest gifts Dad’s ever gotten me. Actually…it’s one of the only gifts he’s ever given me LOL.

Dad said he’d come over because he was nervous that I hadn’t answered my phone all week. He was afraid I was sick or went into labor. He’d tried calling my cell phone but Mom had given him the wrong one. I sat outside with him, Mom and Mario and we talked about everything. He even talked about his coffee addiction and I realized So THAT’S where I get it from!. John and Mom are so not coffee drinkers.

It was weird, but he and mom took off to H-E-B to get Mom’s digital converter boxes. He even went over to her house and installed them for her. Mom wasn’t going to be able to live the jokes down when everyone found out. When he was done they came over again and I put on a pot of coffee and we watched TV. He admired our 47″ LCD and he and Mario talked about cars and then he left.

I had breakfast then, an extra egg and potato taco Mario’d brought. I wasn’t even halfway through when I bit into some crunchy egg shell. I hate that crap. I almost barfed in my sink.

I lost my appetite after that so I started to update my blog a bit. I’m so behind. We left to pick up Mario’s paycheck and when we got home Noey and Andy were here. We went to Yadira’s for a bar-b-q. We sat around and talked like usual. We came home and I washed dishes. It’s so nice having a clean house. It’s a beautiful feeling, looking around and not feeling overwhelmed by crap. I hope I can keep up with it the last 3 ½ weeks of work. Bleh, I don’t want to go back, but who does? I go back on Tuesday. How sad. And I didn’t even get to paint the kitchen!

Shopping & Scrapbooking

We woke up late again due to being up all night watching movies. Big Mario had already given the boys breakfast, which was awesome and no wonder that they didn’t wake us up for food.

I cleaned some more and did laundry most of the day. Mario washed all the cars and bathed the dog. We all got ready and dropped Mom off at H-E-B so she could do her grocery shopping in peace and we went to Long John Silver’s with the kiddos for a late lunch. Alaethia was a bit moody, but I blame that on the cold that was still sort of lingering. When we were done eating we went to Target and had a mini shopping spree. Very mini, because I didn’t find the curtains I needed another pair of for my bedroom, nor did we get the rug for Alaethia’s room. She still had the boys’ Home Depot City rug they’d play with their Hotwheels on.

We did get the 500gig external for $77.77, but it wasn’t the actual one that was in the ad. I’d called before we’d gone over and asked if they had any available and the girl in electronics said yes, there were plenty. I explained that we lived far away and it would still be a while till we’d get over there, and can one be held for us. She said there was no need, there were plenty. It always happens that when I need to know the name of the person I spoke to, I don’t ask for it. Grr.

Well, when we were looking for the external there were NONE. I was so pissed, but I kept my temper. The guy helping us was actually really sweet and got a manager on the phone and everything. The manager was going to come talk to us, but he was so busy he just told the guy to go ahead and let me pick another harddrive that was the same size, whichever brand I wanted. So we got a thin WD harddrive :).

We picked Mom up and then chilled out at home. I actually got a chance to scrapbook a page at night. I’m almost due to give birth to Emily and I was barely finishing up Alaethia’s page from when I was pregnant with her. I have so much scrapbooking to catch up with, just like Flickr and my blog!

Adan showed up here, drunk as a skunk. He chilled out while Mario and I started moving stuff from my old external (which’ll now be Mario’s) into my new 500gig. Then Mario took him to pick up his ticket, which he’d left at work. I don’t know how on earth he managed to drive himself home in the first place. How dangerous! Mario was supposed to be in bed early since he was dropping Adan off at the airport the next morning, but of course, my husband doesn’t know what “early” means, heh.

New Year’s 2009

New Year’s Day! I couldn’t believe it was already 2009. Which meant it was January, which meant that it was all downhill with my pregnancy. I’d have 3 more weeks of work and then BAM! The baby would be here!

We all woke up around noon. No one was here yet, which was good because something happened during the night and the menudo wasn’t ready in the morning. Aside from the menudo, Elda made Mexican hot chocolate, yum. I had like 3 glass-fulls.

We chilled out at Mary’s most of the day and had menudo for lunch. I came back home and to my bedroom an hour later and started looking through papers and receipts. That’s one of my biggest organizational problems: allowing documents to stacking up and saving crap I could throw away. And that’s because I have a file drawer especially for all that stuff in my desk.

Later in the evening I was in the bathroom and Mario was sitting on the sofa on his laptop. I heard the all-too familiar Velcro of Alaethia’s diaper. Her wonderful father was right there and didn’t notice that she removed her diaper…and pooped on floor. I couldn’t believe it. I stuck her in the bath and Mario sheepishly cleaned up her poo. Couldn’t have pooped on the tile either, no. She pooped right on the rug LOL. Once she was all fresh and clean with a new set of PJ’s she crawled into her daybed to watch The Wizard of Oz. As I’m walking out the door into the hall I hear a gasp—she’d spilled her cup of milk all over herself in her bed. I’m getting quite used to doing laundry at 11pm.

Mario and I spent the evening watching movies. That’s what I missed most about my days as a stay-at-home mom: the extra time I’d get to spend with Mario. Can’t do that when I am working because I have to be up so darn early. Soon, though. Soon.
