Impromptu Layout Change

My site was temporarily shut down due to it being potentially hacked a few days ago. Of course, I wouldn’t notice till today, heh. But this prompted me to find a new theme, since the one I was using was old. There’s still a few things I need to work out (heck, I’m surprised I still know how to do some of these things!), but it’ll get there.

Right now I’m sitting on the back porch with my love, talking about everything: the kids, the yard and how it needs trimming, our early grocery shopping trip in the morning, and taking the kids to the pumpkin patch for their 2nd annual photo :).

I was up early, grocery shopped for a few breakfast things and got home and served all the kids. Briana had dropped Nick and Mia off since she worked today. I made sure the kiddos all had something to do and made myself breakfast:

Breakfast :). Took tomato seeds out so it wouldn't sog up my muffins.

I found the recipe on Pinterest, but instead of using bagels, I used English muffins. And some cream cheese, fresh tomatoes and salt and pepper. And some Hazelnut coffee, of course.

I tidied up, paid bills, then Emily and I picked up Jorge from work while Mom bravely stayed with the other 7 kids, heh. Jorge actually got to take half a day off!

We went to the bank, got home and I started making pigs in a blanket for the kids. I swear, it feels like I’m in the kitchen all day during the weekend, heh. I also made some spiffy ones for the adults 🙂

Reduced-fat crescents, cream cheese, chili garlic sauce and chives :). Super fast lunch!

I used:

reduced-fat crescent rolls
cream cheese (I prefer regular)
chili garlic sauce
chives
Oscar Mayer bacon pieces

I baked according to the roll instructions. Those Oscar Mayer bacon pieces ARE MY LIFE. I buy the baggies and keep them on hand for recipes every time I buy groceries.

The kids played, Briana got here and we chit-chatted while we ate lunch. The rest of the day was a lazy day. My love took a nap and I paid bills online while keeping the kiddos at bay. There were minimal arguments about turns on the Xbox and the girls have been really pleasant, just being girls and playing teacher while carrying around purses full of books and wearing tons of bracelets :).

We went to pay a bill, with my little clone, Emily. We got home and I started feeling really tired. Jorge said, “I don’t want you falling asleep at 9am on a Saturday. Take a nap with Emily.” I thought it was going to be an epic fail, but I humored him and snuggled up with Emily.

He woke us up 2 1/2 hours later! I haven’t napped in a LONG time! I felt refreshed and ready to start on dinner, which was broccoli soup, pork chops and rice :). The kids loved it and so did my love, so I’m glad. Especially since it was something I threw together on a whim since I hadn’t done proper grocery shopping :P.

Eenan is currently intrigued by The Walking Dead and shared parts of the game with us throughout the night. He was comparing between the game and the show and comic. Emily and Alaethia played on the porch while we relaxed and the rest of the boys were watching TV. It’s been a great day. We have a lot to do tomorrow, and hopefully I can figure out the rest of this theme. I’m so glad it’s the weekend! Lord knows it was a long week!

Family Time <3

After successfully eating a Ramen noodle cup yesterday around 4pm (well, about half) and feeling less nauseous than I had all day I cleaned up, did some laundry and then started on dinner when Jorge got home. I made cubed chicken in a tomato gravy and Mexican rice. The boys and Jorge positively loved it.

Chicken & Rice

I had a spoonful of each…and felt just fine, thank God! I wanted something other than oatmeal or yogurt or a Special K bar for breakfast the next morning, and while I’d been looking for my ingredients for dinner I came across a can of condensed milk that was about to expire, so I made some atole de arroz, with extra cinnamon. This made Jorge not even try it, since he’s majorly against cinnamon. The boys on the other hand, loved that, too!

Atole de arroz

I had a couple spoonfuls and felt ok afterwards. The boys wanted to get in the pool and asked, “Are you getting in with us today, Yajaira?” I thought about it and said, “Yeah, I’ll go in today.” They cheered a unanimous Yay! and we all changed and got in.

Jorge and the boys played and I hung out near the steps, enjoying the warm water and the breeze on my face. The gentle “waves” caused by the playing boys were causing me to get nice and sleepy. I imagine that’s how a baby probably feels while in utero :).

We got out, showered and headed to bed. I read to make myself sleepy. I only woke up once, which is great!

We got ready for work, I gathered my stuff (breakfast, sweater, bag) and Jorge and I drove to work together :). I ate my atole and coffee (I had to) and felt GREAT! Thank you, Lord!!

Work went by fast. Michelle and I headed to lunch to Siempre Natural, where we met Briana and Jorge and his co-workers. I had a fideo and some lemonade, hoping it would go easy on my stomach. It did; I felt great all day.

We chit-chatted, went back to work and the afternoon went by fast, especially when our intern, Kristina, and I started talking about friends/acquaintances we know mutually. Seriously, 2 hours have never gone by more quickly!

5 o’clock rolled around and I ate my PB&J sandwich and drank my water as I headed to pick up my babies for the week. I was thrilled to see them. Alaethia had me get down and visit with their (real life) goat, who was terrified of me. Mario’s dad said hello, which is something that hasn’t happened in almost 2 years!

The kids and I went to HEB, then Dollar Tree for some pool accessories. Then we came home, the kids admired the pool, I got Jorge’s clothes together and we went to his work so he could change.

I had an awesome kids-eat-free coupon from Chili’s, so we got a pretty awesome deal! I love those!

The manager was nice, but kept bashing the Nolana Chili’s, which we found weird. Regardless, our waiter was great. He was attentive, fast and super nice.

Dinner with the family

Jorge wanted a drink, but then he said no so I ordered it anyway. It was so pretty and actually tasted like a Margarita!

Coronarita

Mmm, cajun chicken pasta

We finished our food, were pleased with the check (heh) and we came home. The kiddos got ready as quickly as possible since they wanted to get in the pool. We had a little line of children waiting while Jorge skimmed the pool. Stupid pool cover keeps flying off and into the pool so it keeps getting dirty .

We got all the pool stuff out there (water guns, floaties, toys) and had a great time swimming and playing :). Alaethia was really nervous, and was the first to get out and chilled out with Mom on the porch. Emily was having a blast and paddled around in her donut floatie, giggling away. The boys…were being boys LOL. They were “shooting” each other and chasing and just having fun. It was great :).

They got ready for bed, brushed teeth and we put them to bed. Now I’m in my robe, typing this up and feeling like I have a sore throat and ear infections. WTF?? I hate to think this is what’s happening, but I think I’m getting sick so much all of a sudden because I stopped taking my acne antibiotics. I’d been on them since March 2011 because my acne had become quite awful. I hadn’t been sick AT ALL since March 2011. I’d been trying to wean myself off of them the past few weeks, but not only has my acne returned (though not as bad as before) and I’ve had a stomach bug and now feel like I’m getting a cold. I refuse to get sick! So needless to say, I started the pills again tonight *sigh*.

Jorge is passing out without me so I’m going to join him. Now I’m getting chills. 6 pound 8 ounce baby Jesus, help me!!!

Perfect Timing

I learned today that we’d be getting our hours cut at work for the summer. I can’t say I’m surprised. We were told we could leave at 2pm today. I was a little bummed; but it’s only 2 hours less than I was already doing and leaving at 2pm on Friday? Heck yes, I’ll take it!

The morning went by fast, Michelle and I talked about our eating/exercises (which I’ve done none of since we started again), I covered for Rosie and then I met my love for lunch at Palenque Chicken, ’cause I’m awesome and had a coupon.

I had no idea what I’d be having for lunch; I wanted something not so fattening. I ended up getting a quesadilla anyway, since I felt rushed and panicked.

MMA Rudy was eating there, too. Jorge arrived and we invited Rudy over to sit with us and then 2 of Jorge’s co-workers got there. We joked and laughed. I hope they don’t think I’m weird because my sense of humor is much like Jorge’s and sometimes not so lady-like .

Rudy got his food and I was surprised and quite jealous when I saw grilled chicken and steamed veggies on his plate. Grr. I wish I’d known about that!! Now I know what to order for next time.

I got back to work and hung around 30 more minutes till I had to leave. I put gas in the van, since we’re going to Brownsville tomorrow to watch the fight and it’ll save us some time :). I can’t wait!

I got home and TOTALLY planned to just sit and blog and chit-chat on the Ol’ School Bloggers Facebook group. Can I just say how awesome that place and those people are!? Who would have thought we’d all get to reunite and catch up on each other’s lives! There are a few people whose domain names I remember and I’m sure I read a few but never really got to connect with the owner since I was sorta shy at the time, but it’s great to be able to now! Ah, technology. I want to hug you .

Jorge has been quite patient. I don’t think he truly “gets” the blogging thing, though he knows I’ve done it forever now. But when I have some free time I’m glued to my phone or computer, reading everyone’s comments on the group and attempting to finish up my queued blog entries and he just smiles and reads over my shoulder sometimes as we’re sitting down together watching TV. Well, I’m sort of watching, heh.

Of course, when I got home, I couldn’t JUST sit and play on my computer or else I’d feel guilty. I dunno. I’m weird like that. So I went into the laundry room and folded/hung/and put away all of this past Sunday’s clean laundry. Jorge is amazing and most of the time he does laundry all on his own, he just needs help sorting. It’s wonderful to have a partner that HELPS, you know? I was used to doing EVERYTHING while someone sat on his ass drinking a beer .

But anyway!

I swept up a bit, threw out the bathroom trash bags and then, finally, sat to blog. I started uploading more pics to Flickr, manually, because Javi’s friend took my charger when they came to visit, grrr! I have enough photos up to continue blogging now, though.

I heard some light thunder rumbling outside and checked the window. It had started to rain! I grabbed my laptop, a chair and sat in the porch. I love this porch. I love our creepy looking mesquite trees, the unruly bamboo trees, the birds chirping and the woodpeckers pecking for just a second before they fly off.

Rain and thunder

I wish I could have gotten a better photo . I would have gotten a photo of the trees, but the neighbor’s multi-colored house behind us is a little appalling, not to be mean. One of these days we’ll install an 8ft fence, heh.

So there. A blog entry! I real time! The rain stopped just a bit ago and the mosquitoes must have noticed because they’re swarming me . I think I’m going to go inside and attempt to finish up an old blog entry and cook something afterwards.

[edit 9:06pm] I never got around to updating the old blog entry, but talked to my kiddos (they’re with Mario till next Wednesday; we agreed on doing the weekly thing instead of the monthly. That would have killed me!).

Oh, and I did cook something!

Honey chipotle glazed pork tenderloin with sauteed asparagus & bacon

Honey chipotle glazed pork tenderloin with sauteed asparagus & bacon. This meal, per plate, cost about $4! This plate’s Jorge’s. Mine was more petite .

Jorge and I wanted to go out somewhere, but he’s tired so we decided to stay in. He’s watching Tron and I’m about to go remove my contacts ’cause they’re bothering me. Then I might just open up one of those pre-made Margaritas I have in the freezer (depending on what Myfitnesspal reports ) and catch up on a few entries. I could get on the treadmill now that I have some free time, but I really want to catch up!!

[edit 10:20pm] Jorge is asleep, and I’m bored, can you tell? Heh.

So I checked my log for today and these are my results:

intakes

So. I could have that Margarita and go over my sugar intake LIKEWOAH. Or, I just don’t have it and let the program scold me. Decisions, decisions.

And just as I suspected, I keep reading other blogs and never started on my old ones LOL.

…Jorge and I got some snacks: popcorn and Tostitos cheese and tea. As we’re walking through the hallway to our bedroom he says, “What does this Friday remind you of?” I say, “All the other days we’ve had snacks while we watch TV?” He laughs and says, “John’s apartment!” Awww!! He remembered! Good times <3.
