Busy Thursday and Friday

Thursday was the type of day I absolutely hate. It was so hectic and there was much driving involved–bleh.

First stop: dropping off some applications and resumes nearby. Who knows when they’ll call me.

It took a total of 15 minutes to finish up there, and then it was time to drop John off at school. Since his car was overheating the day before and I was going to be in town anyway, I figured I’d drop him off. He had a final and was being a bit annoying, whining about how he was going to be late when he was clearly already late (45 minutes). Mrs. C-R knew he would either be late, or wouldn’t go at all.

Next was Mom’s endochrinologist appointment. They took forever there. It took about an hour and a half for them to just call her in, then another hour for them to actually see her. A nurse came and called the kids and me to go in with Mom. She said “Your mom and the doctor are having a hard time communicating.” I thought, ‘Mom must not be able to hear him correctly’, since she’s deaf in one ear.

I get into the office and the doctor yells, in an accent I can barely understand, “Does joor mahther hev memory problem?” Well, shit. Mom not being able to hear to begin with and then him with that accent was not a good combination. I tell him, “No. She’s hearing imparied. She wears a hearing aid in one ear.” He nods and then proceeds to yell at Mom and she doesn’t understand him anyway, so I have to repeat everything to her. She’ll be injecting insulin twice a day now since her pills never helped her with the diabetes. She was being a drama queen and almost cried when he told her she’d need to give herself injections. Later on during the day when she tried it, she was afraid that the needle had gotten stuck in her stomach since she didn’t feel anything LOL. I told her it wasn’t a big deal.

The boys were sort of well behaved the whole time. They kept moving the chairs they were sitting in back and forth and kept fighting to sit next to me but other than that, they did good for being there so long. The other kids in the lobby were running everywhere.

As soon as Mom was done, we went straight to pick up John. Only it wasn’t so straight since I had to go down this road I didn’t know and had to go all the way around the expressway to turn around and go East. Grr.

We get there and I go to Mrs. C-R’s room so that I can print out a resume to leave for the job position they were hiring for. I got everything I needed, then went to the front office to leave the paperwork. The lady I was supposed to talk to was out to lunch. I was to come back in an hour.

We go next door to Wendy’s. There’s NO PARKING since it’s lunch time. We end up going through the drive thru and find a solitary parking space and eat there. The kids are still behaving, yes! John starts feeling sick after he eats two burgers and then I notice my baked potato with chives is missing it’s melted cheese. I go back, since I’ve GOT to have cheese on my baked potato. When I get back, John gets even more naseous since he smells the cheese. We wait till 1:30, which is when I’m supposed to go back to the school.

I go into the waiting area and give the receptionist my resume. I’m looking around and think, “Wow, I wonder what these people are here for? What are the suits and ties all about?” I notice women start going in and they’re wearing fancy dress clothes, too. I look down at myself and look at my nice, white button up top and my jean capris and brown flip flops. I felt so out of place! When the lady I was supposed to speak to gets there, they ask, “Who’s here for the group interview?” All the nicely-dressed up people stand up and follow the woman. The receptionist tells me, “Go! Follow them!” I was going to say, “But I just wanted to drop off my resume…” when a lady pats me on the back to move along.

I tell one of the ladies leading us to the room that I’m just there to leave the resume. She tells me to join them anyway. I say, “I’m not even properly dressed!” but she assures me that I’ll be fine.

I won’t even go into detail about the interview, but I can say that the position was not what I had in mind. Jumpy hours, working Saturdays, somewhat lying to people: no way, not for me. Some of the other people who were there (and seemed like they really wanted the job) were much more qualified. I wouldn’t feel comfortable in a position like that one.

An hour and a half of my life, wasted. We stopped by Mom’s pharmacy before we came home so that she could pick up her insulin.

We left the house really early on Friday morning. We needed to go to Mary’s office, Target, pick up and cash Mario’s paycheck, set up an appointment for Louie at the vet, and eat since Mario hadn’t had breakfast. We ate at Taco Palenque (sp?) on North 10th. It was really nice, and clean! The other one on S. 10th is always so…grimy.

They had a buffet table with all the salsas imaginable. All the chips you could eat and even Agua de Jamaica. If it’s one thing I have Ricci to thank for while we were friends was her introducing me to Agua de Jamaica (and Mangonadas!).

I had a plate of fajita panchos, Mario had a fajita plate and the kids had enchilada plates (which they barely ate, grr). Once we stuffed ourselves we took the kids out to play in the little playground they have enclosed in a courtyard-type-thing.

We made our way to Target, where we got Louie a bed, toys, turtle food, Mouse Trap for the boys and a shoe shelf. We got done there and went to set up the appointment for Louie at the vet and then picked up pizza for Noelia and John and a salad for Mom.

We get home and Mario and the kids put Mouse Trap together. Louie is in love with his new bed and is rolling around it in along with his Black Sheep toy. I found it the perfect opportunity to take a nap and Mario soon followed. (John was here on the computer, so he was watching the kids).

We wake up, just 20 minutes before Louie’s appointment. John forgot to wake us up! Mario drives as fast (and safely) as he can. Louie looked really sad; he probably thought we were going to give him away since the only other times he’s been in cars is when he’s being transported to new owners, poor thing. He does really good on the road and doesn’t have any accidents at all at the vet’s. Everyone that saw him fell in love with him. People kept saying how sweet, nice, playful, cute, kid-friendly he is :).

They called us in and Louie starts getting nervous. He weighs 5 lbs. 8 oz. and is 8 weeks old. We took a stool sample in, since we were suspicious that he had some type of worms and he did: hookworms and tapeworms–eww. The very sweet vet gave him a medication for the hookworms, his first set of shots, flea medication that should help with the tapeworms and she gave us a pill to give him at home for the tapeworms. He was really well behaved. He wimpered a little when he got his shot, but he was still really sweet afterwards. They want to see him back in 3 weeks.

We went to PetSmart and got him training treats, potty training spray, a brush and a clicker. What Mario wants that clicker for is beyond me, but he got it. Everyone that passed us at Pet Smart would stop to pet and play with Louie and at least 4 people asked where we got him and if they had anymore pups like him LOL.

As soon as we got home I took Mom to the Dollar General to get some stuff she needed. We got back and Mario and I made tacos for dinner and then we just chilled out.

While I was online I did something to f*ck up my Falbum…God that sucked. I had to reinstall it this morning. I didn’t plan to do anything today but be online and sleep, but Mary wants to take the kids to Peter Piper and the movies. I don’t even really want to watch that movie, Poseidon. I think the kids’ll freak out with it.

Grr. I just noticed that the cheddar Bugles I bought at the Dollar General yesterday are missing. I wanted to sneak them into the movies :(. — Nevermind, I found them :).

Always on the Go

I’m going to love tomorrow. So far, I have absolutely nothing planned, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been out and about since Friday.

Mario accompanied me to my doctor’s appointment on Friday morning. Mom watched the boys for us. It took forever for them to call us, but I’d rather they take long calling us than having to spend all that time driving to another doctor. We found out I’m 7 weeks along (since Saturday) and my estimated due date is January 28th. Since Mom and Dad both have diabetes, my next appointment’s going to be the one where they give me that really sweet orange drink and check me for diabetes. They usually don’t do that till the 28th week or something like that, but I guess since both my parents have it they’re doing it the 12th week.

I won’t be getting a sonogram till 16 weeks and oh my gosh, I can’t wait! I can’t wait to just hear the heartbeat; I’ll hopefully get to hear it on the dopplar (sp?) during my 12th week appointment. Just like my other pregnancies, it won’t feel totally “real” till I hear that heartbeat.

It still catches me by surprise that I’m pregnant. I can’t believe it. And as the days pass, I’m getting more and more excited about meeting this little person. Mario’s super thrilled. I didn’t think he was going to be as excited as I am, but I find him talking about the baby whenever we’re having a quiet moment :).

We had Whataburger after my appointment on Friday, then went to watch Cars. I LOVED it! Mader was adorable :). Larry the Cable guy’s hilarious to begin with so he did a great job as Mader. The kids loved the movie, too. Jaylen ended up falling asleep at the end of the movie since it was sort of long, but he was all into the parts he got to see.

We went to Wal-Mart afterwards but I can’t really remember for what.

The next morning was Matthew’s Baptism. Jaylen was the only one who went with me, Eenan didn’t want to go. There were SO many Baptisms–I didn’t know they did mass Baptisms like that. I swear, there were like 20 babies/kids waiting to be Baptised.

I brought Jaylen home so that mom could watch him while I paid some bills. John went with me to the mall so I could pay my JC Penny personal plan payment and then we walked around. I tried looking for something for Mario for Father’s Day, but that boy doesn’t drop hints at all and he’s so picky I can’t just *pick* something for him.

We got hungry so I got a strawberry/banana smoothie from Frulatti Cafe and then we ate at McDonald’s. We came home and then I got the kids ready for a graduation dinner Mario’s aunt and uncle were having for their son, Oscar. I was sort of jittery about going, since I expected Mario’s grandma Ofelia to tease me about having a third child. (She had 14 herself–wow!) Everyone was really excited about the pregnancy, though! And we also found out two of Mario’s cousins are expecting as well and one of them’s having TWINS! Craziness. I start freaking out a little thinking, “Oh God, is it a possibility?! Maybe that’s why my pants already don’t fit!” But nah, I think twins are a zero to none possibility for us.

The food was great at the dinner, the presentation was sweet, and the kids behaved exceptionally well. Mary was a lifesaver and picked up crayons and coloring books at the Dollar General before we left for the party. Everyone was impressed with how well behaved they were.
If only the little boogers were like that all the time!

I went with Mary and Noelia to Cindy’s bridal shower the next day. It was at a really nice restaurant. The games were all entertaining and the whole atmosphere at the restaurant was just really nice. They had tangerine iced tea, the salad was sweet (it had raspberries and mandarin oranges in it), I had Mango Chicken with Alfredo pasta (both were SO good!), and then dessert was some flan-type stuff but it was raspberry flavored with some tart raspberry sauce on top. We talked with the cousins and everyone congratulated us on the pregnancy. We even had a conversation about Myspace! It was really nice seeing everyone. I thought the way the tea was presented was so pretty, and the centerpieces contained real flowers!

Mary and Noelia dropped me off with Mario. He still had an hour to get out of work, so I chatted on the phone with Mayra for about an hour (the usual time our conversations last LOL). When he got out, we went to eat at Chilli’s since he hadn’t eaten lunch at all. I had some strawberry lemonade and some nachos since I was stuffed from the bridal shower. Mario had a Philly Cheese Steak he was craving and some buffalo wings. We had a great time talking, then headed off to Circuit City, where we got the kids a new Xbox controller and Cars game and then to Target, just to look around. I ended up buying some brown throw pillows to match the rug. I want to go back for some teal-colored satin pillows with a brown butterfly appliqued on it. It would match the rug and tile perfectly. I still need to remember to buy my khaki futon cover. The room will almost look complete after I get the cover. I just hate that they’re so darn expensive!

As for today, I got the kids and myself ready and we, along with Mom, went to get the license plate stickers for the Sentra. It didn’t take long at all, so we went to visit Mario and I asked him if he wanted to go eat lunch. It was only 11:45, and he doesn’t eat till 1 so we went to Papa John’s to get some pizza. It took forever for them to make it but it gave us enough time to eat and then take a Medium pizza to Mario for his lunch. It was delicious. And they didn’t even ask me for the coupon I had LOL.

After dropping the pizza off to Mario, we went to Wal-Mart. I got some bread and fruits I was craving and Mom got what she needed and then we came home. I took a good 1 hour nap–I felt so exhausted. Lisa came over to Mary’s last night and I went over there after doing my chores. We talked about weddings and kids and all that jazz. It was cool.

Blah. I feel exhausted now and that’s because I just ate a while ago. You’d think I’d have more energy after eating Raviolli.

I just remembered: the kids need haircuts so I’ll have to end up leaving the house tomorrow. Darn. At least the salon’s down the street. Then Wednesday I have an appointment to get the mole on my neck removed (finally!) and I have to take Mom to her diabetes specialist on Thursday. It never ends!
