Catching Up

Dang. It’s been a while since I updated . I seriously can’t even remember the last time I updated, or what it was about. My memory has been something else lately, and by that I mean I can’t remember shit =X.

— I just checked to see when, in fact, I did last update; it was WHILE Jorge was in Indiana. And I got my days and events from work all mixed up. Had to get on here and fix it!

I had an event on Thursday the 30th; a dinner to celebrate the 20th Anniversary as Sister Cities, and I wore the tallest shoes I’ve ever owned. Luckily, all went without incident, heh.

Me, Michelle & Laura :)

This was our wonderful dinner, which I hardly got to enjoy because I was running around all over the place making sure everything was going as it should:

Dinner at the Country Club

Creme Brulee

Jorge went to Indianapolis again to the Cedia convention the 2nd week of this month for training and to receive an award :). I’m so proud of him, he really has no idea . We talked as much as we could, texted when he wasn’t in classes. It was a bit easier for me to be without him this year since I had the girls to keep me busy :). We even got to make mini pizzas :).

Making pizzas with my chicklets :)

Last year was HARD, since I only had Emily at the time and she kinda lazied around with me and then escaped to Mom’s room when she was sleepy LOL.

Thursday was when I picked my boys up, brought them home and then went to the mall for Fashion Night. It was a really fun event. Too bad we didn’t get to eat anything since the herds of people (who didn’t even attend the show) all got in line. It was insane, heh.

The kiddos and I had a quiet weekend at home that week. My love got home Saturday afternoon :). It was SO NICE to have him home, and cuddling and just being together ♥.

Oh yes, I don’t know if I’d mentioned it already: we got a new kitty named Kika! Another Maine Coon. She’s finally warming up to us. She despises Ruffles, probably because he beats her up every chance he gets. Grr.

Kika looks angry lol

Aly had Grandparent’s Day lunch this past Monday. Both the grandmas and myself went. It was actually really pleasant :).

The rest of the week was pretty normal. Spending time with the girlies and my babe all week, doing our usual routine :). I did my motherly duties early Wednesday night and put the girls to bed and mom babysat. My love and I were invited to Frida’s for Retro night and it was super fun :). My love even bought me a rose, aww!

It was Mario’s weekend with the kids so I kept busy. We had a Mixer at work Thursday night so I made my appearance and came home with my love :). We were invited to watch the game but we stayed home and ate junk from Jack In the Box and caught up on our shows instead :). Friday was a GREAT day at work! Sponsorships and exhibitors started coming in for one of my events and I’m so relieved. It’s always nerve wracking having to wait! I just hope every day is like Friday; then we’ll fill up for sure!

Since my love and I went to work together that day (and had lunch together at Espi’s :D), I went to make a payment at Conn’s after work (man, I can’t wait to get ish paid off!), and then I went to Old Navy since I had a coupon. I’m really upset, though, that I let $15 worth of coupons expire! Grr! BUT, I did find the two dresses I wanted for months in my size and I scooped them up before I couldn’t find them again later (like that darn black/white flowy blouse I wanted, grr.) I know “winter” (ha!) is coming and I should be buying slacks since none of mine fit but 3 pairs (the others fit me big! Hallelujah!), but it’s just so much easier and cheaper buying dresses then it is to buy slacks and a blouse. Plus, I get to wear my cute shoes :P.

I picked up my babe and Michelle called that they were at Jalapeños. Oh, that place. Strongest Margaritas (and cheapest! $1!) on the PLANET. Not joking. We went over for an hour, since his boys were on their way to the house (someone was in a hurry!). Sure enough, just like last time, darn things hit me FAST. We got home and I PASSED OUT. Then I woke up, spoke to my kiddos and couldn’t fall asleep till 2:30am. GRR!

The next morning I had my usual brunch with Sally :). We went to Le Peep this time since Jimmy’s was packed. Then we went to Lowe’s and I came home. Mom had already fed the boys and I went to HEB to grocery shop. Got home, unloaded, and started cleaning the house since we were having guests over for the boxing fight. My love got home, we finished cleaning and then we prepped the food for the BBQ. It was an exciting fight, and it was great sitting outside on the back porch watching the huge screen and eating great food :). Reminds me of our Autumn and Winter last year. I really look forward to seasons and holidays with my love and the kids, more than ever :)!

As for today, we woke up, bought menudo and barbacoa and watched football and even got to catch up on XFactor. It’s been a great, lazy day. I had time to organize my closet and plan a few of my outfits for the week :).

Organizing and outfit planning :)

I need better shelves for my shoes and I need to downsize on the tank tops, heh. I didn’t even want to get the other side of the closet in the pic since it’s an unruly mess of scrapbooking boxes :P.

Mario called me around 5pm that my poor Emmos was stung by a jellyfish at the beach :(. I didn’t even know they were over there and I almost flipped out, but I kept calm. I just hope my little lady isn’t in too much discomfort. I miss them all :(! And it sucks that I’m not there to make her better, but she’ll be with me tomorrow ♥.

I got to cut my Babe’s hair earlier this evening and then I showered. When we’re walking down the hallway we embrace and he cups my face in his hands, pulls me away to look at me and says, “You’re so pretty! I like when you’re not wearing makeup.” How wonderful is that man?? He compliments me like, 50 times a day. It’s the best feeling, ever :).

We just ate dinner; buffalo chicken and mashed potatoes. I bought this Knorr seasoning packet where you toss chicken and the seasonings in a bag and bake for 35 minutes and it came out pretty darn good. Jorge and the boys cleaned their plates, so that’ll be something I’ll be buying more often :).

I’m going to finish watching this game with my love (which really means I’m going to browse through Pinterest while he watches, heh) and then we’ll hopefully get to catch up on The Voice. Maybe. I feel so sleepy! Here’s hoping this next week is a great one and I hope Monday has mercy on me!

Beach Day, Work and Food!

I’m not gonna lie. I just had the best homemade salad (didn’t get a pic ’cause I was STARVING, but it was baby spinach and mixed greens, feta cheese, bits of turkey slices, tomato, avocado and balsamic vinaigrette) and a perfectly ripe pear for lunch. I’ve been keeping up with eating homemade food at work. I BEST see that darn scale start showing smaller numbers! (Yes, I know I have to exercise. Darnit.)

Ok. So getting back to last Saturday…I would have finished that night but I was pretty delirious from sleepiness already and I had to go back and read the post the next morning because I had no idea what I’d written, heh.

So. My love left to work Saturday morning. We were still kidless (Mario picked up the kids on Wednesday for a week and Jorge’s boys mother FINALLY decided to pick them up either Tuesday or Wednesday; can’t remember when, but she was supposed to go since Sunday. ANYWAY.), so I kinda-sorta slept in. I knew I had to clean, visit Gramma, grocery shop and possibly set up a fishing trip appointment for the next day–if finances allowed after paying the bills. I really wanted to go, though. We had that 50% off coupon I’d bought and a little getaway sounded fantastic!

I had my Special K cereal and the best French vanilla coffee, ever. I read for about an hour (hey, I was enjoying the silence for once. I’m usually going crazy when the house is THAT QUIET). I paid our bills online, created budget and grocery list+budget, talked our fishing trip over with my Love and set the appointment, woo!! South Padre Island, here we come (tomorrow)!

Mom and I visited Gramma. We chilled out and laughed with her a while and then we made our way to H-E-B to get some groceries. I stayed within budget and got home and made myself a sandwich, since my sugar was dropping and I was beginning to shake.

I spoke to my babies, who’d been in Houston with their dad, and now they were on their way to Dallas to visit Adan and Aide. After everything, I still felt a small pang in my heart hearing ‘Dallas’ and their names. I know all they’ve said about me, all they think of me, but somewhere deep in my heart I fondly remember my old friend. And then I tell myself to quit being stupid and make myself remember all the ugly things. I know–I really need to quit doing that and just forgive and forget. Oh well, such is life.

My love got home early :D. I learned about some drama that was being ’caused by the ex (not mine, his). She pretended she was the boys texting him from their phone asking if they could stay the weekend and she’d pick them up Monday. So she could go out. How convenient . He said no because we had plans and OF COURSE that brought forth an avalanche of drama. She only had them a week in total last month and already was trying to get rid of them. Grrr.

Anyway. The guys were coming over to watch UFC, so Jorge and I got started on tidying up. We get this knock on the door and it’s some salesguys, wanting to do a demo. They presented us with this cheap little photo frame and told us they’d be right back. I thought, Great. They’re gonna mug us. We totally just gave them permission to come in and mug us.

Jorge and I watched them from the kitchen window as they unloaded this box. I said, “What do you think it is?” He replies, “I don’t know. But whatever it is, it better be some mechanical maid that’ll clean the house.”

Sure enough. It was a vacuum cleaner demonstration. And they cleaned the entire house for us LOL. After seeing the mounds of dirt they removed from the kids’ mattresses, the air filter and sofa, we were sold. And disgusted! How are they going to show you that stuff and you NOT want to buy it right then and there?? I told the salesguy, “Oh. You’re GOOD.”

So now we have this new vacuum. And they took our old little Dirt Devil :(. I had this sentimental attachment to it because it was Jorge and I’s first vacuum together (I’m weird like that), but the piece of crap didn’t clean SHIT! Jorge had just vacuumed the living room rug and the guy went over it and removed dirt and lint balls. And then I wonder why I have allergies. (It’s Ruffles’ fault, too.)

So the guys got there and we ordered pizza. I only had one slice. And Junior got there and brought me a Smirnoff.

What my favorite cousin-in-law brought me :D

He is THE BEST!!

So I sat outside with them and we watched American Reunion after the fight. Rudy showed up with mini brownies (grr)…and I had 3 :(. I had a major sugar crash after that and came straight to bed. Jorge was falling asleep, too, so the guys didn’t stay very much longer.

I set the alarm for 7:30 and made us some awesome omelets and some coffee. We showered, packed our stuff and we were off. We stopped to get gas in the BMW (♥) and when Jorge got back in the car he randomly said that one of these Sundays we needed to stop at the flea market. As we’re getting back on the Expressway, I get a call from the bay fishing company that there was a problem with the boat, they were trying to fix it, they’d call us if it was fixed by the 7pm trip, we could get a free dolphin watch (to which Jorge said, “I don’t wanna see fish! I wanna catch fish!” LOL), and to scratch out the expiration date (August 31st) on our vouchers. It was pretty disappointing but we decided we’d head to the Island to eat lunch and lazy around on the beach :). Right after we went to the flea market, heh.

We walked around the aisles and pointed stuff out (the huge tables with Bath & Body Works and Victoria’s Secret creams, WTF?). I hadn’t been to a flea market in forever and we had fun :). We were each spending $10. We bought the girls some Hello Kitty hair bows, I found a vintage Bedtime Bear, and some little necklaces for Mom. And something else, but I can’t remember, heh.

We decided against getting a fruit cup or junk food and headed to the beach. We sang out hearts out all the way to the Walmart in Port Isabel :). I love traveling with him; it’s so fun!

We realized we’d forgotten towels and sunscreen, dur, so we got some. And the umbrellas were much cheaper than renting one so we bought one. I love that we’ll get to use it again later. No money wasted!

When we got to the Island, our first stop was Big Boy’s; one of Jorge’s favorite spots to eat. He’s always posting these awesome pics on his Facebook so I wanted to try it out for myself, heh.

We graffitied on the table while we waited for our food:

I love his handwriting <3

My handsome man <3

And then the food got there:

Nothing better than shrimp on the beach :)

And I proceeded to eat ALL 8 SHRIMP!! Not all the fries, but definitely all the shrimp! SO GOOD!

We got in the car and drove to one of the beach accesses. We both changed in the car, heh.

At the Beach :)

If I could walk around in a bathing suit and linen cover-up all day, I totally would! It’s so comfortable :). (No photo of me in said cover-up; I’ll spare you!)

We ran as fast as we could in flip-flops through soft, scorching sand. We found a good spot, far away from all the other families and couples and set up our stuff. We had difficulties with the umbrella at first, but then, we got it. Jorge drank a beer and I drank my sweet tea. And we just relaxed and enjoyed the breeze, heat and the sound of the ocean.

<3

I’m not too fond of that picture of myself, but it was the only one we got to take together.

We laid back and Jorge took a nap (he’s a pro at falling asleep at the drop of a hat!) and I took pics until I myself took a small nap :). That’s another one off my bucket list: fall asleep on the beach :).

Relaxing :)

Beach Umbrella

Dee Plane!!

Our Spot :)

I woke up when I felt the sun burning my hand, heh. Aunt Nora called and we chatted for a bit and then Jorge got up. We decided to go play in the water, because–like he said–we never really get to since we’re always taking care of the kids and making sure they’re all safe. I told him I was nervous about going out there; the waves were rough. He said, “I’d never let anything happen to you” ♥. It was great waiting for the huge waves to smash into us :). I love that we laugh and have so much fun together :).

We stayed a while longer and then found changing rooms. It was a lot less messy than I thought it would be. Jorge was glad for that; he was nervous about the amount of sand he’d get in the car LOL.

We blasted the music and started our drive home. We were getting hungry, so we stopped at Dairy Queen . I had the double fudge cookie dough with caramel drizzle. Oh yes. Jorge had nachos :).

We finished up and made plans to go to the movies. Then we decided against it because by the time we got home it would be late and our Mondays are crazy. So we came home, cleaned the cars and I made dinner. Fish and asparagus :). Needless to say, I was BEAT.

Monday was a regular Monday at work. A lot of time spent planning for our next event. I had to compile some photos from this event from years past. I ate lunch at work and tried behaving the rest of the day.

Until I got home and made bacon-wrapped cream cheese stuffed jalapeños and cheesy chicken. Sally came over so we could catch up and gossip and she stayed for dinner :). Jorge got home and we all ate and gossiped some more, heh.

I helped Michelle with registration for one of her events on Tuesday. That helped the day go by quickly, thank goodness! We got to eat after the event:

Lunch! So yummy!

And I drank about 5 glasses of peach tea. Ugh. My stomach hurts remembering how full I was! Dumbass!

Anyway. I got to keep 2 vases of these gorgeous flowers:

Fresh Flowers Make Me Happy :)

Fresh flowers greatly improve my mood!

I went to Old Navy after work to get Alaethia some more jeans for school since they’re on sale. Of course there wouldn’t be any boot cut in her size. At least the other 2 I got her were boot cut. These were skinny jeans, plus a cute blouse and 2 bicycle shorts for under her dresses. I’m pretty much done with clothes shopping and school supplies. Now all she needs are her shoes and backpack! Woo!

The line took forever and my feet were killing me. I was wearing my most comfortable wedges but I can only do about 8 hours with them, tops. And I still had to go grocery shopping!

I accomplished this in exactly 1 hour, went $20 over budget (grr) and when I drove to my street found out it was CLOSED. I had to turn and take another street. I can’t wait till they’re done with this darn construction!

I made mom, Jorge and myself some salads while he fed the lil’ kitty:

Another reason why I love this man :D

A salad after today's lunch, heh.

I kept trying to convince Jorge to jog after dinner, but he wouldn’t budge. So I got up and made us some mini frittatas so we could have breakfast made for 2-3 days. I followed this recipe, which I found on the wonderful Pinterest. I baked for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. The only difference was I didn’t add salt at all, and I used 1% milk instead of half and half.

Making breakfast for the next 3-4 days :)

:)

Woohoo, breakfast! No Special K bar for this girl!

(I need to quit using Instagram for all photos; they look blurry!)

I topped them with Monterrey jack cheese and voila! Breakfast was ready!

We went back to HEB since I forgot dish soap and my precious French vanilla creamer. I also took the chance to buy some black and silver Wet-n-Wild nail polishes since they were still BOGO free!

We got home and got out stuff ready for tomorrow, showered and hit the hay :).

I got all my stuff ready for work this morning and got to work on time. My mini frittata was GREAT!! Super scrumptious!

The morning went by super fast, then came lunch, I blogged a bit, the afternoon sorta dragged and then I got out of work and went straight to pick up my babies :). I missed them so much! Jorge arrived with his lil’ guys soon after :).

They all fell in love with the tiny screamy kitty. Potential names are Shiner, Snowball, Furball, and Felafel LOL.

While they entertained the lil dude I made these awesome enchiladas:

I had a salad for lunch so I could have these artery-clogging enchiladas for dinner hehe

And I’ve tried finishing up this blog on and off for the past few hours as I tend to children and feeding kitties. Jorge is having his guy’s night tonight and they’re all sitting around the BMW in folding chairs like it’s a sporting event LOL. And now I’m going to wrap this up and do Ab Ripper and about 20 minutes of jogging on the treadmill. Hey. At least it’s something!

Choices

Sunday, June 24th

Oh, Sunday. I regret my nutritional (or lack thereof) choices of that Sunday. I think I’m still paying for them a week later!

Jorge and I were child-less, as they were with their other parents that weekend. We slept in (sort of), got out of bed, showered, got ready and when discussing what we wanted for breakfast we both simultaneously decided we wanted Menudo. We rushed to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Espi & T’s. The service was a bit slow, but the food, as always, was delicious!

Menudo at Espi's

We went to Kohl’s afterwards so my love could get some new running shoes. He said I should get some, too, since I’ve had the same black, white and hot pink Adidas since 2006 ! I make my shizz LAST, heh.

As always I couldn’t find any shoes in my size, 5, so I checked the kids section. I found one of the 2 shoes I liked in kid-size! For almost half off the adult-version, which is always a plus :D. I was just worried that maybe the support wouldn’t be the same, but at least they were cute :).

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks...

I found some socks (kids’ size, ’cause they didn’t have them in “my” size, of course) and some for Aly and we put them on hold since I forgot my darn coupon. Yes, we went back home to get the 30% off coupon, what??

So we went back to get our stuff (and since everything was on sale already we saved A TON). We went next door to Old Navy to get Jorge some shirts and a few things for Aly’s school wardrobe. We found a few adorable things, AND I had a coupon, hehe. She just needs her jeans and a few more tops :).

New clothes for Aly

We were on our way home, and we almost made it home without shoving junk in our face (that’s what she said!) but we stopped at this new-ish snack place and bought all of this:

Everything You Shouldn't Have

And there were no kids with us! We’re just terrible. I had almost the entire bag of Flamin’ Hots with cheese and a few bites of Jorge’s corn in a cup and a few pieces of the fruit cup. I was very fond of the aqua de sandia, or watermelon water. I’d like to believe it was completely natural and only sweetened with watermelon, but it was too good .

We got home and tried napping. Well, I tried, but couldn’t so I finished up last week’s blog, heh. Javi and Eric got there to use the internet and we started watching a show, Jericho, but I remembered that the girls from RGV Cupcake Factory were going to be on Cupcake Wars so I went to watch in the bedroom. They won!! I bought Alaethia and Emily a cupcake each on Alaethia’s birthday that day, before they were famous, hehe :).

The guys left and the rest of the evening was spent cleaning and doing laundry for the week. Typical Sunday evening.

Monday, June 25th
My boss was out for the day, our boss boss was out for the day too, so needless to say, it was a pretty slow day at work. I took care of what needed to be done and then I pinned a few things and found Miss Laughlin’s blog. It’s a truly inspirational blog of a young woman who has lost weight after both her children, the right way. She also works full-time and has a husband and a home and it made me think, “Well, if she can do it, why can’t I?!” I read it during lunch, since I stayed in that day, and every chance I got after that, heh. Her before and after pics are amazing and she even has meal ideas. I have to admit, that’s one of my problems. I feel like I need to re-learn cooking, because a lot of the meals I learned are NOT healthy :(.

I got home and made some jalapeño tuna. And then I gathered the beer brats and mixed them into some HEB Borracho Shiner beans, plus some extra jalapeño’s, cilantro, garlic and pepper. Later that night, I realized I should have probably left the beer brats out. Those things are NOT calorie friendly and made my stomach hurt :(.

We waited a bit before putting on our new shoes and hitting the pavement at McAuliffe Park. We’d been running on the dirt road that’s under construction, but we didn’t want to run there with our new shoes so to the park we went. As soon as we started, we ran into Billy and Jorge’s other friend, Adrian. We stood talking for about 30 minutes, so we made our total jog only 3 miles (30 minutes). My legs were SORE, and I attributed it to the new shoes. When we were leaving we ran into Remi and chatted for a few minutes. We did Ab Ripper, showered and then Jorge–little devil on my shoulder!–brought us some of our Red Mango mango yogurt. Only a small cup, and it is pretty healthy I guess.

I vowed to do better that week. My legs were EXTREMELY sore. I just hoped that I’d be better the next day. I didn’t want to hinder our process!

Tuesday, June 26th

As I’m brushing my teeth in the bathroom the next morning Jorge says, “Morning sexy, beautiful woman!” from the bedroom.

I spit out my toothpaste and reply, “Good morning baby!”

I hear him sleepily mumble something, so I turn off the water and say, “What did you say?”

He repeats, “I love hearing your voice in the morning. It reminds me that i wasn’t dreaming.” :*)

He is the sweetest thing! It still takes me by surprise how romantic and sweet he is sometimes ♥!

My day at work was much like the day before, only today my knees were sore and in pain :(. I couldn’t even go up and down stairs, but I did anyway. AND, Jorge told me he requested his week vacation that day, and got approved! Now I just needed to ask for mine. Neither boss was in, and it was already Wednesday the next day, so I was a bit nervous about requesting so last-minute :(. Still, a vacation sounded divine!!

For lunch, I ate a small sandwich (two Orrowheat rounds with a turkey slice and cheese). I made myself some homemade Tazo passion tea in the kitchen.

Passion Tea at work :)

As I waited for it to steep and cool, Jorge lets me know he’s at Siempre Natural having lunch, which is my favorite salad place. I asked him to bring me a fideo, heh. He did, AND brought me a lemonade!

My babe spoils me :)

I put half of my passion tea in the lemonade and OMG, tasted exactly like Starbucks’ version and it was SO GOOD!

I ate pretty well that whole day. When Jorge and I went for our jog that night my knees were KILLING ME. We still went to the park and jogged, but I felt awful because he had to keep waiting for me because I had to keep stopping :(. I just wanted to be better!

We got home and Jorge iced down my knees. I passed out in our huge cuddle chair. He woke me up to shower and I was so glad my knees felt a bit better. No matter what, I WAS going to jog on Wednesday!! And I was totally going to request my week vacation!
