Hectic Holidays

Finally…a chance to update. Well, actually…I put off mopping all darn day (I’ve had the water with nicely scented Mr. Clean in a bucket in the kitchen since around 5 this afternoon ) and I still haven’t washed dishes. And it’s 11:41. But I’m dead tired. The past few nights I’ve only slept 4-5 hours…and I cannot function on that little sleep.

The last time I updated, I mentioned we were picking Eenan up from school. There was a huge line so we parked at some apartments. We cross the street and while I’m zipping up Jaylen’s sweater I hear Noelia saying, “What?!” I turn and this man is howling from across the street, “Is this your car?!” I nod my head and he says, “Do you live here?” I yell ‘no’ and he says, “You have to move your car!” I tell him I’ll be right back and I hear him yelling his head off. We rush to get Eenan, then rush back to the car. Took us less than 5 minutes. When we get back, we’re putting the boys in the car and there comes the buffalo-sized man. I roll my eyes at Noelia and think, ‘Oh great…another run-in with a douchebag’. He says, “Do you rent here?” I reply, “Nope, are you the owner?” and continue buckling Eenan in his seat belt. He says, “No, but I’m the landlord. You can’t be parking here.” I say, “I know, Sir. We just needed to get my son. We took less than 5 minutes.” He says, “Well, I’ve been getting calls that people have been leaving their cars here all week.”

I feel my face get hot. “Well, this is the first time we do it, and it’s not like we’re going to do it again. It’s not like we’re taking up the parking spaces,” I said, as I glide my hand in the air, Vanna White style, showing him the empty parking lot. He gets all pissy and says, “Well, I already got your license plate number and I’ll call the cops.” I roll my eyes, begin to walk to the passenger side of the car and say, “Um. Okay. Go ahead. What’s that going to do?” He just stares at me for a while and I say, “I’ll be sure to let everyone I know, know about you and your apartments.” He chuckles and says, “Oh, that don’t scare us.” (Us? Was he skitzo?) I open the door to the passenger side, get up in his face and say, “Well, you don’t scare me.” I closed the door on him (while he continued to talk out his ass), which pissed him off more and I just smiled all sarcastic-like as we drove off. Idiot. Some people just LOVE to be assholes. And I usually have the pleasure of running into assholes. They think, because of my appearance I bet (I look like I’m 16 and helpless–a doctor told me a few months ago that I look like I’m 12!), that I’ll just let myself be talked down to. Boy do they ever get a surprise. I may end up getting my ass kicked one of these days, but hell, I’m not one to keep my mouth shut.

Thursday was spent baking. I woke up, got the boys ready and dropped Eenan off at school. Then I started baking. And making lunch for Mario and Jose. All the while, panicking over Eenan’s lost white polo shirt that he needed that night for his performance. I was a wreck that day–I surely thought I’d have a breakdown. Mario finally had a day off, and I didn’t want to bother him since he was spending time with Jose…but there were a few times I was on the brink of a system meltdown and I just had to ask him to help me out. I know I shouldn’t have felt guilty (I even got all pissy once when he left “without telling me”). It is partly the whole monthly, almost-bleeding-to-death thing’s fault .

I helped Eenan with his homework after Mario picked him up, then I took a shower and then got him ready. I was a bit disappointed that his shirt didn’t fit him as well as I wanted it to (Mary bought it the night before and matched it with another polo of his that fits him). He still looked adorable though :).

It was starting to drizzle by the time we left the house. Eenan’s performance started at 6:30 and Yazmin’s started at 6. So, we planned to go see Yazmin for a bit, then rush to Eenan’s school to get our plates ($15 for 3) and take Eenan with his class to practice or whatever they were going to do to get ready. We were going to leave around 6:20…but they didn’t start the concert till 6:15 so we didn’t even get to see her sing (she had a solo!). We took Angela with us when we left and halfway to their school I realize we forgot the camcorder. It’d stayed with Noelia. I called and asked if Noelia and Mary and Jaylen could come a little earlier to bring the camcorder. I was getting really upset about not recording him on his first program ever, but they got there on time. It was crazy–it was SO packed. I hope they never have their programs at that place again. There were no seats by the time we got there. We bought our plates in advance, and still didn’t even get to get seats. So Mario asked for our money back. There were also people getting in the way while I was recording. They very well saw that I was recording and would still insist on passing right in front of me. Other than that, their little programs were great . I almost cried watching Eenan sing his little song and wave the tissue paper pom-poms around they gave them to perfom with. I’m so proud of my lil’ guy *sniff*.

When we got home, I got comfortable and back to baking I went. After finishing the snickerdoodles, I started on the sugar cookies. I’d never made them before and well, they didn’t come out as good as I’d hoped. They taste great…they’re just kinda hard . I think I almost made Grandpa’s dentures fall out . Next time I know: roll the damn dough out thicker.

I let the boys decorate a few before they went to bed. I bought them these edible markers to paint the cookies with, since I don’t trust them too much with the squeezable gels LOL.

Here’s the cookie Eenan made his teacher:

And the ones I decorated and would put in a star-shaped box with some snickerdoodles:

There were dozens of snickerdoodles (which would quickly disappear within the next few days) and a whole bunch of (hard) sugar cookies. I even burned a batch and there were still a whole lot left:

Snickerdoodles & cupcakes

Sugar cookies

You can see the teeny cupcakes behind the snickerdoodles. Since they were mini cupcakes…1 box of batter made 72 cupcakes . I was up till 1:30am that night.

I don’t remember much from Friday, except taking Eenan’s goodies to school. All the kids were gathered around us admiring the cupcakes LOL. Eenan gave his gift to Ms. Ortiz, which was a little apple-shaped ceramic plaque that says, “Teachers plant a seed that never stops growing”, or something like that. She also gave him a “reader” to practice over the holidays. She said he’s her top student and she wants him to read it first. Yay . I hope he can pick up soon. He’s learning to read pretty quickly.

When we picked Eenan up, he was really happy. His friend gave him some Yugioh cards and he got a car in the gift exchange and his other friend gave him some little cars. Ms. Ortiz hugged him and said, “Santa’s gonna bring you lots of toys since you were such a good boy this year,” and we winked in agreement.

Mario picked John up that night. He’ll be staying with us the whole 3 weeks of Christmas vacation.

On Saturday I got up early, got Mario ready for work (ironed clothes, made breakfast), gave the kids breakfast and took off to go do Mom’s Christmas shopping with Mary. Not only did we make good time, but I found stuff that everyone would like, and for good prices. I even got myself Polite Panda from Hot Topic from Mom. Last one they had. Tonight though, after showing Mary the bear, she brings a Hot Topic bag out and says, “I didn’t want to say anything because I wanted it to be a surprise, but I already got you that one” LOL. So, I’ll be returning the other one. Not sure what I’ll get in it’s place…they don’t have Perfect Panda, Treat Heart Pig or anything else (for that price, $8.99) that I want there. Stupid store. I hope they have some more in by the time we go back Friday . We left the mall at around 3:30, got home and got the boys ready and left to Gorilla George’s for a birthday party. We got there really late, but they were happy we showed up. The boys played till around 5:30 and then we left. To ANOTHER birthday party at ANOTHER pizza place. They had fun. They were quickly becoming moody at the 2nd party since they hadn’t had their naps, but we stayed since they wanted us to have cake. Tres Leches cake. One of my favorites. It tasted so good, but of course I’ve been nauseous the past few days so I didn’t get to enjoy it. No, I’m not pregnant LOL. Here’s a pic I took of the boys in the Santa corner:

They’re actually not trying to kill eachother for once LOL.

We went home and left the boys with John. We were going back to the mall for the “sale” and to Target for a few things. We were meeting Mario at the mall after he got out of work. It wasn’t as crowded as I thought it would be, but for being almost midnight it was still busy. I got the last of the stuff I needed for Mom, which felt awesome. I still need Mario’s, but he wants shirts so that’ll be easy. We got home around 12:15, and again I didn’t go to sleep till really late since the toilet tank overflowed and John left wet towels and my fish mat soaked on the floor and I had to wash them. Then I was just talking to Mario, who stayed up even later than I did.

We got up early to go to the big flea market/ garage sale. I took a shower and then we were off. John gave me $20 as my Xmas gift to spend there . I went back to that same lady I bought the sleeping bags from last month and she had the Jurassic Park comforter and complete set of Care Bear sheets (for $6…$2 less than what she was asking last time)! All I got next was a new release Twink Sprite for my Hot Topic Rainbow Brite Doll, two Care Bear poseables (which I thought were vintage but aren’t! Should’ve paid attention!), and yet another Putter Popple, which I bought only because the lady wouldn’t sell the pocket Puzzle Popple seperately. She said it was Putter’s baby and that’s the way they came, which is not true . She sold it to me for a dollar more than she was asking last time, too. Dammit. They had a Yum Yum…a cat, but it was really dirty and she wanted $5. I would have bought her, but I was a bit annoyed that she didn’t want to sell me a Twink mini sprite because she was only selling it with a really beat-up looking Rainbow Brite doll, so I said, ‘nah’. I have enough ugly Rainbow Brite dolls LOL. Plus, I was bitchy because I’m menstrual . I’ve been quite unpleasant this month.

After the garage sale we went to the movies to watch Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Don’t know if I spelled that correctly. I thought it was cute, but Mario and Sonia didn’t like it LOL. Not sure who else didn’t. I want to read the books now. And they look pretty short, so I’d be able to finish them quickly, without many interruptions from the boys.

Ok, going to bed now.

Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

Made a new skin! If you’re still viewing the old ones, click here to see the new one. Sorry about that…it was popping out in this Iframe *smacks forehead*. To see it, click on ‘Cheer & Share’ in the side menu. I can’t get rid of that blasted blue line around the layout . That’s what I get for rushing!

Anyway, I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was nice . Ours was great. Started out not-too-great since Mario didn’t want to go to Aunt Nora’s to pick Mom up to spend the morning with us, but we went to see her in the evening for a while so it worked out. I tried not being a total douchebag around everyone after he pissed me off. We went over to Yadira’s, where Mary prepared her traditional Thanksgiving feast and we ate. Everything was delicious. I literally couldn’t get up off my seat when it came time for us to leave .

We went to Jorge and Maggie’s after that, around 2pm. Maggie and her sister, Connie, made a whole bunch of food! Her sister even made a spice cake in the microwave with some Tupperware thing. We ate again around 4…and I swear I thought I was going to hurl…I had never felt so full in my life. I didn’t want to be rude though, since they invited us over and all. Maggie was already feeling upset because her in-laws didn’t really eat when she invited them over. We chilled out for about another hour after that, then went to visit Mom and Aunt Nora. Aunt Nora and everyone else were leaving to a movie, so we saw them briefly, but we stayed with Mom for about 45 minutes and talked and looked at ads in the newspaper, since Mary and I’d be going to the Black Friday sales at 5am the next morning! Mario, was of course, being a pain, so we had to make our visit short. I woke up at 5am, left with Mary and Sonia to Home Depot, Toys R Us, Comp USA, Sears, JC Penny and Circuit City. John and Mario stayed with the boys and then John babysat them after Mario left for work.

It was absolute chaos. There were 3 fender benders at the same time in the parking lot of the mall. Mary and I told off a manager at Comp USA because he was being a total dick to everyone. He was pretty surprised when I called him an asshole . We also got a price adjustment on a roll-away toolbox Mario bought at Sears. They kept trying to give us the run around until I told them I was once a cashier/sales associate at a store and yes, they should give us a price adjustment since we bought it within 7 days. Bastards. The manager was really apologetic and polite after we proved our point though. I know what I’m getting for Christmas from Mary too! I went to check if they had any Rainbow Brite Light Up Color Castles and they did! And she told me to bring it and I said no, Mario would get mad if I bought it LOL. Then she said she’d get it but I couldn’t open it till Christmas. YAY!

Saturday, John and I and the kids got up early to go shopping again. I got Jaylen one of his Christmas presents. I need to figure out what else to get them. I know what Eenan wants already too. I also got a Glade 3-in-1 candle…OMG it smells wonderful. I did a bit of decorating…not much since we 1) don’t have the space and 2) Mario would have an attack if I had decorations all over the place LOL. After we got back from town I went to the store to get a few things Mary needed since she was leaving that day for a 1 week trip to Arizona. When we were walking out of the last store we went to I felt something soft rub against my leg and then I hear Jaylen scream, “Mama! A Kitty!!!” He had her in his arms by the time I looked down. I looked around for a while to check if her mother was around, or if there were other kittens around, but saw nothing. She was so skinny and tiny (I think she’s a runt) so I brought her home to feed her. She was ravenous, the poor thing. I brought her with the sole purpose of making her healthy and then giving her away, but she’s growing on us. I didn’t want to name her because then I’d get attached, but her name’s Choco Cat LOL. She looks just like him, big eyes and all! I think we may just keep her. She’s a fiesty little thing though. She’ll be purring up a storm and as soon as you touch her, she turns on her back and starts playfully nibbling on you, which really hurts because her teeny teeth are razor sharp. I cleaned the bathroom that day and my hands were on fire because of the Lysol and all the little kitten-induced cuts.

Speaking of, you know you’re getting older when you get excited over cleaning products that get rid of that soap scum you couldn’t get rid of for the past 3 months. I love Lysol *hugs bottle*. I’d never tried it on the bathroom stall…only on the counters and vanity and around the toilet. I’d only used stuff like Tilex for the stall. My bathroom is SPARKLING! See? There goes the old lady talking about her bathroom. Kill me now.

John spent the whole weekend here and I spent it teasing and torturing him LOL. He’d play a dumb song I don’t like, so I’d start singing kareoke. He’d say something I didn’t want to know, like, something about his privates. So I’d tell him that Mario and I “canoodled” on the futon, where he was sleeping. ROFL. It was hilarious. It was cool having him here since I would have been totally lonely (except for the boys’ company) since Mario’s been working 12-13 hours a day. It’s been so busy that he’s not getting a day off for 3 weeks!

Welp, I think that’s all. Gotta finish painting at the apartment. It’s almost 2 and I haven’t done a thing! God, I hope I finish today…and that I don’t hurt my back like I did on Wednesday night. I had a horrible, pinching pain. It wouldn’t go away and I couldn’t even sit! Noey invited Mario and I to play pool that night and I was a bit depressed because I didn’t think I could play. I sat out the first two games then played against Noey on the 3rd. Mario made a friend and played pool with him and the guy’s friend most of the night…aww. After my first two games, the pain started to go away. Thank God. I constantly have back pain, but nothing like that before!

Okay, okay. I’m stalling. I’ll go paint now. Eeh.

Eenan Update & Mario’s Birthday

Eenan stayed home from school on Wednesday because he still had a slight fever. When Mary got home from work that day we took Eenan to the doctor. Dr. Z. gave him a thorough check-up and was worried because he’d had the fever for so long so she requested a lab. He hated getting blood drawn . She also gave us orders to get a chest x-ray done since he was complaining about chest pain and becase he has a history of bronchial problems. She gave him new (very bad tasting) medicines, and Albuterol for his nebulizer. We stopped by H-E-B after we left the doctor’s and I got some Nyquil for me and a thermometer since ours was nowhere to be found. Thursday, Eenan went to school half the day, then Noey and I picked him up during lunch and took him for his x-ray. We still haven’t gotten the results–maybe Monday.

Mario was off Friday, his birthday . We went to pick up his check at work, cashed it, went to Home Depot to get some tools Mario needed for work, ate at Taco Bell because Jaylen and I were starving, then we picked Eenan up from school. We took him to the doctor and when we see her she says, and dammit I can’t remember the word…that something in his blood that’s supposed to be from 0-15 was at 85, which meant that there was inflammation somewhere in his body, which was an infection. She asked that labs be done again because there wasn’t enough blood for it the first time. So there’s Eenan, screaming his little head off. Took all of us to hold him down. She also told us his referral for seeing the optometrist was in the mail. My lil guy may need to wear glasses!

They needed a urine sample, and since he’d just peed when we got to the office he couldn’t pee again, so they gave us the stuff to take home and have him pee there and take the specimen to the hospital within one hour. Mary had picked Mom up from work and stopped at the doctor’s office to pick up the kids since we still had a few more places to go and they were tired. We went to Petland to get some rat food, a new water bottle for Pecan (since he’s too little for the one that came with his cage), and a “house” or something for the rats. We only found the water bottle and spent the rest of the time playing with the bunnies and ferrets. I fell in love with a Pomeranian and a Maltese puppy. They were too darn cute. I want a Pomeranian SO bad , but Mario doesn’t like “little, yappy, hairy dogs”. Grr.

We went to Pet Smart afterwards and got the rest of the stuff we needed, plus some treats for the rodents . After that we stopped at H-E-B for a cheesecake. I was supposed to make one from scratch, but it needs about 3 hours to cool and there was no way we’d have time. It was already 6pm, and everyone was meeting at Mary’s for Mario’s birthday at 7. After we got the cheesecake, we stopped by the beauty salon to get Mario’s haircut. Then, we finally went home. I helped Mary with a few things, then everyone started showing up. John was spending the weekend with us so he walked to our house afterschool. While everyone was eating, I get a call from Dr. Z. She said Eenan’s lab results came in and that his white blood cell count was at 19,000! She said to keep a log of his temperatures and not to forget to give him his medicines and nebulizer treatments. She also called in a stronger antibiotic, and asked me to check ‘urine culture’ on the sheet she gave me to turn in with his specimen. I was so worried when I hung up with her that I started to feel sick to my stomach. I just wanted Eenan to be better already. I barely ate anything and then got to giving Eenan his medicines, which I have to mix with a LOT of chocolate or strawberry milk to hide the horrible tastes. I tasted the cough medicine and it literally numbed my tongue! The antibiotic was just as horrendous and to top it off was grainy, which he hated. I took his temp., which was at 98.5 and then Mario and I got ready to go to Fast Eddie’s Billiards. We’d be meeting Jorge, Maggie and Noelia there. I kept telling myself Eenan would be fine and forced myself to have a good time. By the end of the night, I did. I totally suck at playing pool, but it was fun anyway. Mario had a good time, and I was so happy about that. We came home and John was already asleep. Noey brought Jaylen over (he was asleep too) and Eenan slept over at Mary’s. Mario and I fed all our animals and then went to bed. I’d never fallen asleep so fast.

I made breakfast for Mario the next day and of course, helped him get ready because he never knows where anything is. Then I got ready and Mary got my boys ready and we were off. It was John and his girlfriend’s 1 year anniversary, so they were going to go out for a movie. We were going to watch The Incredibles, which was really good. Really long, but really good. It was funny . John and his girlfriend watched Ray, so he was out 40 minutes before we were. We stopped to see Gramma for a little bit since I hadn’t seen her in almost 2 weeks (due to the garage sale last week). She’s doing good. She doesn’t like that her stuff is still in storage and that she’s not in the room she was in before, but she’s doing well. She’s not one to complain at all. I gathered my boys, waited out in the cold for a little bit since everyone’d gone to get gas at the gas station across the street, then we went to eat at Pizza Hut. Crappiest service ever. They never got anything right. I took the chance to get Eenan’s urine sample there LOL. So I got it, wrote the info on the container and put it away. Then we went to drop it off at the hospital which took forever. Then we went to H-E-B since I, Yadira and Sonia needed to pick up prescriptions. I bought some diapers and paper plates, then gave Eenan his medicine in the van. He took it with no problem since this one tasted much better. Like strawberries even, and it’s only once a day, which he’s happy about. Then we finally came home. Spent some time with Mario on the couch, where I ended up falling asleep for a while LOL. Eenan slept over at Mary’s again, Mario went over to Jorge’s to play Halo 2, and then I was just here with Jaylen and John. I was bored out of my mind after he went outside to talk on the phone with his girlfriend, so I fed my animals and went to bed. I slept so good last night. My nose wasn’t running and I wasn’t drooling on my pillow for once. I can’t wait to be completely over this damn cold!

Don’t know what we’re doing today. I need to buy a broom. I think that’s what I’m gonna do after I finish my leftover pizza and apple Fanta.

[edit 11-15-04] Holy crap! Was looking through Ebay and found this! I HAVE this doll…I had no idea she’d go for THAT MUCH in the UK![/edit]
