Child Labor

Making dinner was much less lonely tonight since the boys helped me. Usually they’re playing or watching TV, but tonight they offered to help. Jaylen was very into watching and mixing his chicken and was excited to add the other “ingredients”: green beans and cream of chicken soup. When he saw that the food was about to be ready he rubbed his tummy and exclaimed, “This is going to be delicious!”

Eenan was in charge of the stuffing and did a great job. I made the chicken flavored Rice-a-Roni and everything looked awesome. The kids were actually excited to eat this time. I think I’ll have them help me, when they can, whenever the opportunity presents itself. They want me to make meatloaf tomorrow so they can do everything themselves.

These little guys are going to make some ladies very happy when they get older ;).

I can’t wait till there’s 3 little kiddos helping me out at dinnertime :).

Pizza, Interview, and Fights

This woman is either going to make my blood pressure go up or give me a heart attack. I already have a headache from yelling at her. She’s been injecting herself with insulin at the wrong time and checking her sugar HOURS after she’s eaten. I’m giving her instructions on how to do it right: “inject insulin, eat, check sugar 1 hour later” and she keeps writing it in the order that she’s used to doing it. I don’t know how many times I told her how to do it. Maybe the doctor was right and she does have a memory problem–I hate to say it. Last night her sugar was at 40–lowest it’s ever been–and she felt like she was going to pass out. Why? Because she decides to do everything as it’s convenient to her, not how she’s supposed to be doing it. My mother frustrates me like no one else.

Anyway, Friday was such a nice day. It started out a bit stressful since Mario wanted to leave early (like 10:30) and I hadn’t picked out my clothes for the interview. I had nothing decent to wear–my maternity clothes weren’t dressy enough and my professional “not pregnant” clothes were getting too tight. I ended up wearing one of my old work blouses (still fit!) and a knee-length denim maternity skirt I had, that didn’t look maternity. I wasn’t too happy about wearing anything denim to the interview, but I had to work with what I had. Then I just put on some black flat Mary Jane shoes (that hurt much more than I thought they would! The little band going across kept cutting my circulation!).

I love cool, overcast days and Friday was just that. Mario picked up his paycheck from work, cashed it and then we went to give our car payment, JC Penny payments and then went to pick up our Pirates of the Carribean Dead Man’s Chest tickets before they sold out. Then we got some lunch.

I hadn’t eaten Luca Pizza in years, probably since I was pregnant with Jaylen. They kept talking about how the Pizza di Roma in Mission was the same place, different name but we never tried it until Friday. It was definitely the same place–the food was SO good. They serve these huge slices of pizza and the kids almost ate the whole thing–it was THAT good. Mario and I had stuffed pizza with pepperoni and mushroom…mmm. The place was nice, too. It had an arcade and air hockey (the kids’ favorite) and pool tables. We didn’t have time to play because it was almost time for my interview, but we promised the kids they could play at the arcade at the movies.

While we were eating, it started pouring. We had to run out and jump in the car–thank God we were parked right next to the door of the restaurant. We still got wet though. I told Mario, “I have my interview in 10 minutes and I’m soaked!” The new perfume Mario bought me (he got me two: Ralph Lauren Glamourous and Armani Mania) totally washed off :(.

When we get to the building I get soaked again on the way out, but I had a good feeling about the interview. I waited in the seating area for the lady I was supposed to be speaking to. I overheard the guy next to me telling one of the loan directors about how his grandmother had a whole bunch of cashier’s checks and was wondering if he could deposit them for her. That’s so interesting–she just found them in her house and now could have all these thousands of dollars.

I wanted to hear more, but I got called in. The lady was really nice and she told me about how getting a job with banking will always secure you a job, no matter where you are and we basically had a talk about customer service and my experience with it. She then told me if they didn’t call me from the branch I applied to, they might call me from another one. So now I play the waiting game again. It takes 2-3 weeks to determine whether they’ll hire me at my first choice, and if they don’t, it’s several weeks for the other places to let me know. Oh, well. At least I gave it a shot.

After the interview we left for the movies. We tried our hardest to find a parking space close by–not only because we didn’t want to get wet again, but because all the parking spaces that were far away were about a foot in water. Had we taken the Sentra water definitely would have started to go into the car–it was that bad.

Mario dropped the kids and I off at the front and he drove around till he found a parking space nearby. The kids didn’t want to play in the arcade since they spent $2 each getting Pokemon toys from the machines. They were seating for our show already so we found some pretty good seats and enjoyed our candies.

I don’t know if Jaylen was scared but for the first time ever he was asking to go home. Eenan did pretty good and actually enjoyed it. I ended up sitting Jaylen on my lap and he fell asleep, so we got to enjoy the movie. It was good. Kind of long, but good.

We went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things we needed for around the house, picked up some chicken with sides from Golden Chick (Mario suggested it so I didn’t have to cook–aww :)) and we got home. I was so tired it felt so good to be home.

Saturday was a stay-home day. Well, mostly. Mario left to work and then I got ready to pay a few bills. Oh my gosh, I just remembered something embarrassing! After I’d stopped at the bank to deposit and was going around the turnaround to pay my storage unit, this old lady coming from the north into the frontage road completely missed a stop sign and then was going 20 miles an hour. I was going 55–the speed limit. I had to slam on the breaks and slow down to about 30 and I motioned with my hand for her to move out of the way, she was gonna kill someone! And when she slowly moved into the next lane I sped up and gave her my famous scowl (John knows which one I’m talking about–he says it’s gonna get my ass kicked one of these days). To my utter embarrassment, I noticed that the lady looked A LOT like one of Mario’s aunts. I wanted the ground to swallow me. I laughed nervously all the way to the storage unit and John said, “You see, that’s why you shouldn’t be such a bitch.” Heh.

I got home and went straight to Mary’s to tell her about it. Before, you know, she found out from anyone else in the family about my road rage. She just laughed it off, but agreed that it wasn’t safe of whoever it was to miss the stop sign and go 20 in a 55.

Mom and I sat in her kitchen and talked with her for a while about different things. Then Noelia got there and I bought some clear bowls and plates off of her that she’d bought for a wedding but wouldn’t need. Then we ate mangos and talked some more. I cleaned a bit and then took a nap. Then dinnertime came around and I made enchiladas and beans (have I added that recipe? I have to check.) and Mario called that he was on his way. He told me to get ready since Jorge invited us to watch the UFC fight.

That fight–sucked. Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock, is it? Well, them, their fight was over in like, 1 minute 15 seconds–no joke. They stopped the fight because Tito elbowed Ken 5 times in a row, but Ken was fine. When the referee stopped the fight (stupid ref!) Ken jumped up in like half a second. Everyone was pissed. All the people there were booing and screaming ‘bullshit!’ It was the worst fight ever. They didn’t even stop the first fight we got to see (we got there late) when this guy’s head was bleeding all over the place. I mean, it was gross. Everytime I used force, his head would spew out blood.

The last fight, which was the main fight, sucked, too. Jorge and Maggie were so pissed. Jorge even said he didn’t want to watch UFC anymore LOL.

Today, I plan to do nothing, again. I need to buy some hangers at the Dollar General, but that’s it. I need to mop, since the darn dog keeps crapping everywhere and well, cleaning spray can only clean so much. I need to get the kids to finish cleaning up that darn room. They barely have any toys left (the rest were taken to storage) and they STILL don’t want to clean up. And when they are cleaning up, they disagree on something and end up beating each other up. If I have another boy, I feel for him.
