This is the Best Day

Upon entering the bathroom to inspect Jaylen’s bootie (he asks me to, to make sure he’s wiped well) he says, “This is the best day!” I ask him why, expecting him to say because it’s Halloween or because of all the candy he received at school but he says, “Because I did Regular Poop!”

He got better about 20 minutes after the cool bath I gave him on Friday night and he promptly fell asleep (this, of course, was after Over the Hedge had already finished). I instinctively woke up every hour-hour and a half to check up on him and thankfully he was fine.

He was so cute though. He was slumped over next to me on the couch while we were watching the movie when I started coughing hysterically. He reaches over and pats me on the leg to calm me down. I tell him, “Aww baby, you’re so sick and here you are worried about me.” He says in his crackly voice, “I’m worried about you and my sister.” How sweet is that?!

The Mucinex I gave him, however, totally messed up his stomach. He woke up Saturday morning with terrible diarreah. I felt so bad for him. He went through his whole drawer of underwear almost.

I felt bad leaving him, but I had the baby shower to attend and although he wanted to go, it was at a fancy place and there was no way I was going to take him. (Though I’m sure he would have behaved better than Eenan would at an event that would take that long.) He and Eenan stayed with Mom, who’d be giving Jaylen his medicine (not the Mucinex, never again!) and giving them lunch shortly after I left.

I was going to the shower, which was for Mario’s cousin Betty, with Mary and Noelia. We stopped by Target first to get Mario a jacket he wanted that was on sale. Noelia thankfully found the only one in his size tossed off to the side so I grabbed it and we dropped it off to him. It was the second day of the sale at Mario’s work and man were they busy!

Mary needed to get some Amoxcil for Angela (who’s insurance sadly doesn’t go into effect till December just like my boys’) so we went to Mexico to pick some up.

We were going to a pharmacy that’s right across the street from the bridge. Thank God, because I didn’t know how far I could walk! The horrible pains I was having before had gone away, but I was afraid they’d come back from walking too much. Anyway, we got to the pharmacy and while Mary paid for the meds, I looked around at the junk food and got some chips (Tostitos?) that we used to eat back in school and some sugary things like Gansitos, which Mario loves (I don’t). I felt nauseous the whole night before and barely ate breakfast, but I opened up the bag of chips when we were on our way to the baby shower and ate the whole thing. I hate feeling nauseous. Thankfully I can count on one hand how many times I’ve been nauseous this pregnancy *knocks on wood, just in case*.

The baby shower was really nice. They decorated everything simply but it looked so nice. They had a rubber ducky theme going on since Betty’s having another boy (her 3rd baby as well). They’d told her up until two weeks ago that she’d be having a girl, so of course she was thrilled. Well, she goes for her 8 month appointment and they tell her she’s having a boy after all. I heard the aunts saying she’s going to try for a girl, because she was really upset that she wasn’t having one this time. This is the reason I’m still waiting to buy all the adorable pink things I’ve seen; I want to be absolutely sure that I’m having a girl. I have a feeling I am, and have had a feeling this whole pregnancy that she’s a girl, plus two positive sonos that showed she was a girl but I haven’t been given a sono of her privates! If only I had that picture in my hands and I could “see” for myself, I’d feel more at ease. Betty’s the 4th woman I know this year who’s been told she’s having this baby and ends up with the opposite gender.

I won the first two games of the baby shower: a nursery rhyme fill-in-the-blanks and a Purse Scavenger Hunt. Since I won two at Venessa’s the week before all the aunts kept saying stuff like, “Why should I even bother when Yajaira’s going to win?” and other stuff like that LOL. I decided to just not give it my all on the third game since I was sure they’d never invite me back to another shower :P. It was fun. I came home with a Bath and Body Works lotion, sponge and shower gel and two foot creams/sprays. Yay!

As soon as we got home I got the kids dressed up in their costumes for the Jamaica. Jaylen hadn’t gone to the bathroom for about two hours, so that was a relief since I wasn’t sure there were bathrooms at the place. The boys were all thrilled; Eenan in his Shadow Ninja costume and Jaylen in his Darth Vader one. Mom came along, and Mary was babysitting Matthew and Angela so they came along too.

Halloween '06

There weren’t many games to play so we just got some waters, nachos, a turkey leg for Mario, and a fruit cup. The kids went on a train ride where Mary gave them half a pickle each. It didn’t occur to me at all that it would mess up Jaylen’s stomach, again, until they were around the corner. By the time they got back, he’d finished the whole thing.

The kids were moody since there was nowhere to sit and it was still light out so it was getting hot fast. We said hi to Yadira, one of her co-workers and Jaylen’s teacher, who were all volunteering at booths and then we left. Mary stayed behind with Angela and Matthew and I brought the boys home. We had just gotten to the driveway (we went walking, it was less than a block away) when Eenan freaked out over some bees and knocked Jaylen over. Poor Jaylen went skidding on his wrists since he was holding onto his water and a bag of candy they’d given him. I bandaged him up when we got inside and he just rested on the couch. He was still doing good diarreah-wise, but still looked down.

Eenan went to church with Mary while Angela stayed with me till Tommy picked her up. The poor thing had a fever, so I gave her Tylenol right before Tommy got here. Poor kiddos :(.

Mario got home later and we watched The Neverending Story, which the kids hadn’t ever seen. Eenan left half-way to Mary’s to sleep over and Jaylen stayed up for the whole thing. He ended up falling asleep on the couch so Mario moved him to his bed and we watched TV a little longer till we started to get sleepy. I went to bed first, and as soon as I felt Mario get into bed I hear Jaylen call us. He said he’d check what happened. The poor thing had an accident in his bed; the diarreah was back full-force thanks to the darn pickle I stupidly let him eat. We changed his sheets and put the dirty ones in the wash, wiped down his (plastic-covered) bed with Clorox Anywhere spray (love that stuff), gave him a quick wash down in the shower and put him to bed. He was fine the rest of the night but I still woke up every two hours to check on him.

I woke up to Jaylen looking really sad and telling me he was running out of undies again :(. I felt so bad. I made pancakes that morning hoping the bread wouldn’t mess up his stomach too much but the syrup must have made it worse. I had some errands to run and groceries to get, so Mom watched the boys while John and I went to McAllen.

We picked up John’s guitar first then stopped by Circle K (or Stripes, whatever) to get something for Mario to drink and snack on at work. They were super busy again so he appreciated the gesture since he didn’t even have a chance to get anything and they don’t usually go out for lunch at all on Sundays.

We went to Target next, where I got the boys a pair of jeans each (can you believe they grew out of all their jeans already!?) and I got a 20″ TV for our bedroom that was on sale for $89.97 (put it on my credit card, eek!). We went to Ross next, which John loathes, but I love. Everyone talks shit about it but I love buying nice clothes for half the price they usually go for (I owe my huge collection of cute T’s to that place–they usually have the exact same ones places like Wet Seal have for half the price!). I do hate that the damn store’s been turned upside down and it takes forever to pay for the stuff though.

I went with the intention to buy a huge bolster pillow to make sleeping easier but I only found one and it was torn. I figured I could sew it, wash it and make covers for it but only if they’d give me a good discount. While John goofed off and took pictures of ridiculous things I found two cute maternity blouses (one in black and one in pink) and a pair of khaki cargos with pink stitching. It came out to $28, which I was super ok with. They wanted to sell me the pillow for $9, even with the tear so I said nah. I’ll go back and check again later.

My feet were killing me, but I still had to get groceries so we went to Wal-Mart first for house supplies and toiletries and then to H-E-B for the actual food. I remembered to get Jaylen his Gatorade and soups and my pumpkin pie. Dumbass that I am I totally forgot the Whipped Cream! You can’t have pumpkin pie without whipped cream! I also bought all the stuff I’d need to make Dirt Cups for the kids’ classes, which are cups full of pudding, crushed Oreo’s and a worm on top :).

Mom had made burritos so I didn’t even have to make dinner–yay! After giving Jaylen his Gatorade and soup, he was doing much, much better and I prayed for the best since he had school the next day. He hates to miss and I like that he’s gotten perfect attendance so far, but I wasn’t going to allow him to go if he kept having accidents.

Thankfully he did just fine at school the next day. I told his teachers about it and they told me they’d call if they needed me to pick him up. I asked how many kids were in each class and there were 20 in each including the teachers. Crappy thing: they weren’t allowing anything like cupcakes or anything homemade, but were allowing bags of candy. Grr. I understand they’re doing it to be safe, but I would not poison my child or his classmates AND I’d already made the expense for the Dirt Cups and would have to make an additional expense since they wanted candy instead. They’d also stated they were only allowing children to dress up in Fairytale costumes but c’mon, who was going to dress their kid up as Peter Pan, or a Prince or something? I figured I’d send the boys off in their costumes and if they didn’t like it, I’d happily take them a change of clothes.

I picked Jaylen up after school and we made our way to the Dollar General, where I was hoping I’d find cheap, good candy. WRONG. I spent $13 just on 3 bags of candy that I was praying would be enough for both classes. As soon as we got home I started seperating the candy and putting it into the candy bags (thank God I still had unopened bags from last year that I didn’t use). After stressing out and getting exactly 20 of each candy for each class, I had just enough for 40 bags.

I picked Eenan up and we chilled out at home for a while till John got here. Jaylen’s tummy was doing great and Eenan was thrilled that his new DS had come in. Mary’d sent his old greenish one to get repaired and instead they sent us a brand-new red one since they didn’t have the green one. He didn’t care–I think he likes this one even more. Mom watched the boys while John and I went to the bank so we could both deposit. He wanted to go to Target, so we went really quick where he got some stuff for his guitar and bought us both some Starbucks. My little brother has his own money and is buying me Starbucks–he’s growing up *tear*.

I started on dinner when we got home: chilli. I’d been craving some good chilli and found a seasoning packet for some. It was delicious!

Chilli!

Mario got out of work late since it was so busy and ended up staying even later since the guys were having some beers. I got everything ready for the next day, even though my feet were killing me. They don’t swell up, but they just ache really bad at the end of the day. I took a shower and went to bed while watching TV. I love that there’s a TV in our bedroom now; I need the white noise to fall asleep when Mario’s not home.

I need to have some lunch (leftover chilli!) and then start on those Dirt Cups. Since I didn’t make them for the kids’ class I’m going to make them for us here at home. Hope everyone has a great night of Trick-or-Treating!

MIA

I wish I could say that I haven’t updated because I’ve been working at my new fabulous job, but the truth is I’ve been running around doing errands and taking Mom to her doctor’s appointments since last Monday.

None of the places that I’ve applied at have called me back. Since we’re doing pretty good right now both Mario and I decided I shouldn’t be too worried about it. I guess I was in a rush to get a good job I’d like and stay with since we’re hoping to sell the property we have and move (probably to an area I didn’t want to move to in the first place). We’ll be remodeling our apartment in the next few weeks (my father-in-law will, actually) so we’ll feel more comfortable and will work with our space. I’m finally (hopefully!) going to have a walk-in closet!

I took Mom to her audiologist appointment on Monday morning. They tested her hearing and she’ll be getting a new hearing aid in a few weeks. The lady that was testing her and I got into a discussion about how her hearing loss may have been a result of the Diabetes, how her eye sight may be in jeopardy and how John and I might very well suffer from those two things also, because of our parents. Great. We talked about our diets and pregnancies and she said I may be in the clear since I haven’t gotten Gestational Diabetes with my other pregnancies. It was a great talk. It would have been great working there. I say that, because that’s the place I was going to have an interview at but couldn’t make it since I was grocery shopping, buying my new high school diploma, and saving John from his monsterous car. The man I spoke to seemed determined to hire me–he kept calling me back. Dammit! It wouldn’t have been too far from Mario’s work either.

That night Mario and I watched movies. After the movies, he went for a drive and while I waited for him to get back I flipped through channels. As I was passing through the community (mostly school district-related) channel, I noticed something about the last day to register kids at Eenan’s school was the next day. So on Tuesday, I took Jaylen and registered him for Pre-K. I was sort of iffy about it, since I wasn’t sure we’d make it because of our income and because all the kid speaks is English (they’re only letting kids who speak Spanish enter Pre-K now–dumb, I know). I gathered all the documents I needed and hoped for the best.

I guess in a way it’s a good thing I’m not working because if I was Jaylen really wouldn’t have been able to register. We made it since we were just under the income limit for a family of 4. The catch is, the first week of school they’re going to be testing the kids and if they know too much English, they’ll be withdrawn. What idiots.

I started thinking about it though and am worried for my little guy. Since he doesn’t speak a lick of Spanish, how’s he going to make friends? Mary assures me he’ll be fine, that kids play with eachother whether there’s a language barrier or not. I just hope he won’t hate it :(. It’s going to be tough to begin with since he’s SO attatched to me :(.

Wednesday was my 2nd doctor’s appointment at the new office I’m going to. This is the one where they wedge me open with a gigantic, icy-cold speculum and scrub me raw with a giant q-tip. It hurts all over again just thinking about it. Before the Pap, I’d peed in a cup and it showed not only Nitrates? (which meant a bladder infection) but glucose. They checked my sugar and thank God, it was at 94, which is really good. That scared the crap out of me though–I was sure I’d gotten Diabetes this time. Since then, I’ve been watching what I eat. I haven’t even been having my daily soda or binging on candy. I’m really trying. I REALLY don’t want to get Diabetes.

They prescribed some (huge) antibiotics for the infection, but I’m not sure if I’m totally over it yet. It still feels like my bladder’s going to explode yet nothing comes out–nothing but a trickle :(. I didn’t even feel those symptoms when they first diagnosed me, it was once I started taking the pills that I felt weird. I even started getting slight cramping in my pelvic area.

After the Pap, they took me into the Sono room and gave me another Sonogram. Telling from my last period and the sono, I’m exactly where I thought I was–10 1/2 weeks. I even saw my little Peanut’s beating heart again, beating at a healthy 155 BPM. And I don’t have Placenta Previa this time :).

Inside the black, kidney bean looking area is my darling little Peanut. She/he is the whitish looking peanut-shaped blob. She/he’s grown a lot since the last time!

Thursday–oh. my. God. That day was spent taking Mom all around the Valley to her doctor’s appointments. The boys were very well behaved, especially for having to sit still and be quiet for 3 hours at BOTH appointments.

The first one was her eye appointment, which took forever for absolutely no reason I could see. They have tons of nurses, and I’m not kidding you, the doctor only spends a total of 6 minutes with you in the exam room. When she finally got called in, they checked her eyes right away and that was that. 3 hours for 6 minutes–it’s ridiculous. Well, turns out she’s got the beginnings of Cataracts and has some retinal damage–all due to the Diabetes. She’ll be getting a new prescription for glasses soon. Hopefully she’ll actually wear them this time.

The next appointment was her Endocrinologist one, the one where you can’t understand a thing the doctor’s saying. When HE finally called her in, he upped her dosage of insulin since she still wasn’t controlled, gave her a new machine to check her glucose, and we both scolded her for not taking her high blood pressure and cholesterol medicines. She said she wasn’t taking them because he told her to stop taking her diabetes medicines. Yes, diabetes, but not everything else. And then she wonders why she feels sick. That woman drives me crazy!

He gave her a refill of one of her diabetes medications to take along with the insulin. She takes a total of 4 medications plus insulin twice a day. I NEVER want to get Diabetes :(.

When we were finally home free we stopped at a pharmacy near our town. She got the prescription for her medication, but not the one for her lancets. I was so frustrated (and we were all hungry–it was 3:15 and hadn’t eaten since 8:30 that morning) we just left.

Friday was a lazy day for all of us. I don’t remember going anywhere other than to the Dollar General to pick up some Bar-b-q sauce since Mario was going to grill burgers. It rained for a total of 2 minutes on the way back home. John and Mario washed both cars and then we bar-b-q’d. Those were some GOOD burgers.

Saturday was spent cleaning in the morning then finding out that Mom screwed up her bank account royally. She’s so overdrafted it’s not even funny. I get so frustrated with the way she handles (or lacks handling) her finances. It’s going to be a tough month for them now.

That afternoon we went to a party for Noelia’s friend’s little boy. I didn’t want to go, since the last pair of jean capris that fit me were no longer fitting me so well and all my maternity clothes were in storage. I sucked it up (literally) and Mary, Noelia, Andy, the boys and I all went. It was a Woody/cowboy themed party and the boys had a lot of fun since they had a moonjump and games. It wasn’t as painful as I though it was going to be.

Later that night when Mario got home, we went to Jorge and Maggie’s for a bar-b-q Jorge was hosting for Maggie’s birthday. Eric, Jorge’s friend, was the one bar-b-q’ing. The food was all really good and after Eric left, we saw Hiram snap. Eric kept teasing him and picking on him so I guess it was only natural Hiram snapped the way he did. He says he was playing, but we all thought he was pretty serious.

Mario was off on Sunday. We woke up late, then around 1:30 we went to Monci’s birthday party at Peter Piper Pizza. It was really cute. She threw the party for herself (this is an older lady) and had Play-doh for the kids to play with and kept on bringing the pizzas and hot wings. We went out for the piñata (she had a Disney Princess one ^_^) and Jaylen had a blast. Eenan didn’t want to hit the piñata at first, but once we told him, “You can’t get the candy that fall out of it since you’re not hitting”, he quickly got in line. Jaylen had both pockets full and even made Mario carry some in his cargo shorts LOL. It was nice and overcast and cool outside–my favorite kind of weather. When we were done at the party, we stopped at H-E-B since Mary needed some stuff and then we went to her storage unit to get my maternity clothes out. The shirts are still way too big, but the capris fit wonderfully :).

Mario bar-b-q’d again that night, but this time we had ribs. He slathered them in bar-b-q sauce about 5 times on each side, so when they were done, they were gooey. Yum! We made avocado dip and it was delicious.

After Mario left to work on Monday, we all got ready so I could take Mom to get a loan from her loan company. At least she’ll have some cash to last the month, but she still has other payments that need to be withdrawn. Oy. I dropped some stuff off to Mario at work and then I took John to donate plasma at the plasma center. His idea. Sucky thing: the boy forgot his social security card. Hello?!

I stopped at H-E-B afterwards to pick up the sodas we were in charge of for the burger/hotdog bar-b-q we were having on the 4th. Then we stopped at the pharmacy to pick up Mom’s lancet prescription. I had John help me rearrange furniture later on during the day so that the space is clear for when my dad-in-law moves the door to our bedroom. That door’s going to be the entrance to the hallway and since he’s making the walk-in closet he needs to move the doorway about 2 feet to the right. I can’t wait to see how it all looks!

(Internet Explorer’s such a bastard. I’ve had this post as a draft for the past two days, since I’ve been slowly updating and I’ve been saving as I go along. As luck would have it, I didn’t save the last 3 paragraphs I’d typed up and IE got one of those stupid errors where it needs to shut down. Grr!)

Anyway, the rain that we’d been anticipating all week finally came crashing down Monday night. We were all excited. Mom, Mary, Big Mario, the boys and I were all sitting outside under the porch, enjoying the coolness the rain had brought. I even let the kids run around in the rain for a while (and then brought them in and gave them a shower and some Tylenol, just in case). Panic started to set in when the rain kept coming and the back of the house, which has our front door, the “laundry room” and Mary’s back door connected, started flooding–fast. I saw the news and in 30 minutes it had rained 5 inches–much more than our city gets in a year probably. It rained a total of 13 inches I think. My dad-in-law had to go around the house and dig trenches to let the water through. Thankfully, the water didn’t come into the houses. The lightning and thunder were crazy though. I started writing a post that night and it got wiped away when the electricity went out.

The 4th of July: Gramma’s and Natalie’s birthdays. We woke up late-ish, got ready (I looked really pregnant!) then all went to visit Gramma at the nursing home. We’re all broke, but we stopped by H-E-B to at least get her a little chocolate cake.

We sat with Gramma and talked for a while. Eenan kept her entertained while he made up stories and acted them out. Jaylen was too busy making his cinnamon gum “not hot” so he wet his shirt in the bathroom trying to drink water LOL. After we’d spent about 45 minutes with Gramma we left.

Mario had been talking about the house we want and the property his Godfather owns. The one that’s in the middle of nowhere–even more middle of nowhere then we live now. I can appreciate shrubs and cattle and hay bales–I love to see that actually, but I never wanted to live it.

We’d live down the same street Jorge and Maggie do, but much farther. I kept telling Mario I hated the idea of living all the way over there, but he told me about all the new stores they’re building (we’d at least be close to a Wal-Mart, but not H-E-B!) and how there wouldn’t be room to build everything we want on a regular lot in the city. To convince me, we went to see the property. 5 acres of empty goodness. There’s also a plus–we wouldn’t get charged taxes if we had some kind of livestock on the property, so we’re thinking of getting a few cute goats. No, really, I’m serious.

So he convinced me a little. We want a huge house, with a huge carport (not a garage, we’d rather use the square footage for another room or two), we want a screened in back porch that leads to a deck with a nice set of outdoor furniture and a chimney, sink, and counter for bar-b-q’ing. We passed by a house that had the type of backyard we want, so hopefully I can get a picture soon.

We stopped by H-E-B again for the light olive oil we didn’t find at the other one. When we got home, we chilled out outside with everyone and talked about houses again. Andy and Noelia might want to build on Jorge’s land also. While Mario started the fire I talked with Jorge, his Godfather for a while. When Mario got the phone, he spoke with Jorge about the property and I guess it’s all set. 1/2 to a whole acre is promised to us. We just need to get started on selling the other property and all that jazz.

Yadira and Tommy got here with the patties and Mario cooked them up. The food was great and everyone was here. The men were outside while the women were inside taking about babies and other women things. Annie did a necklace gender prediction thing and at first I believed it (it said I’d be having a boy this time–again!) but when it started acting funny and not working for the other women in the family I thought ‘nah’. I don’t know, and I don’t want to jinx it, but I really think I’m having a girl this time. I just feel it. Could be wishful thinking, but we’ll see in 2 1/2 more months. (It seems like forever!)

When it got dark the kids all popped their fireworks. Eenan was actually outside this year, enjoying himself. Previous years he’d be out, then go inside because he either got bored or the neighbor’s huge fireworks displays were really loud. He’s getting braver though :).

And now today, it starts again. Mom has a doctor’s appointment this afternoon. John’s vacation is over and started school again today so let’s hope his car behaves itself and I don’t need to go pick him up. Poor dude. I wish things would just be easier for him. That car doesn’t help.

Mother’s Day Weekend

I hope all the Mommys out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Mine was nice and eventful. We woke up on Sunday morning and John, Mom, Mario, the boys and I headed to McDonald’s for breakfast. We went to visit Gramma afterwards. I was pretty disappointed by the nurse’s/CNA’s/supervisor’s service that day. Gramma had ants on the table beside her bed. I pressed the call button to have a nurse come over and help and nobody ever came. When I peeked out the door I could see all the nurses circled around the nurse’s station, chatting. The alarm sounds at the station; it doesn’t stop until you come to the room to turn it off. I started getting really frustrated thinking, “What if there was an emergency and these bitches never came to check on her?” I took a deep breath and calmly walked over to the station to let them know what was going on. I let them know how I was disappointed that they’d take so long, or rather not go check on her at all. The nurse that was in charge of her that day said (in Spanish, because she didn’t understand English), “I already checked on her. What does she need?” I told her, “So since you already checked on her you’re not checking on her again? What if there was an emergency?” She goes into the room and tells Gramma, “Sorry, Love, there’s nothing I can do about the ants.” And leaves.

We visit with Gramma a little longer and then I tell everyone I was going to put in a complaint. Mario and John scurry off as fast as they can to the truck, because it embarrasses them, how I “make a scene”. Well, I talk to their sorry excuse for a supervisor, who’s just as incompetent as the nurses, and basically tells me that I’m wrong, the nurse is right. So much for customer service.

We had time to kill before our movie, so we went to the mall. We got some iced coffees at Gloria Jean’s and walked around. We went to Circuit City afterwards, where Mario got himself some CDs. He kept telling me to buy myself something but it never fails that when I actually have money nothing appeals to me. All the cute shirts I liked at 5-7-9 before looked drab and boring. We went to Ross after Circuit City, where I always find something I like, but no such luck this time.

We met Mary and Noelia at the movies to watch The Wild–not my first choice. The kids had been wanting to watch that cartoon since it first came out and we kept promising to go but we never did. It was actually a cute movie–I thought I was going to hate it.

Mary had something to do after the movie, so she and Noelia left. Since Mario had promised Gramma dinner, something other than the bland, goopy stuff they serve her there, we bought her some barbacoa tacos and took them to her. After Mom fed her we left to have dinner ourselves. Mario gave me the choice, so I chose Johnny Carino’s. Mario was certain he’d hate it, because he’s not a fan of Italian like I am.

We ordered Calamari, which was great–even the kids were grabbing handfuls. I ordered Spicy Shrimp and Chicken, which wasn’t supposed to be “that spicy” according to the waiter. Mario ordered Lasagna, which he said would base his decision on whether we’d ever go there again or not. The kids ordered pizzas, which were actually whole medium-sized pizzas. Our meals came with soup, so we got the potato soup and it was delicious. Mario said it was the best he’s ever eaten. I’d never tasted it before at all, but I loved it. When our food came we were highly disappointed, although I was really trying to hide it since I was adamant on going there regardless of Mario’s warnings.

My “not that spicy” dish was the spiciest damn thing I’ve ever eaten. And it had a total of two measly shrimps in it. Mario didn’t like his lasagna at all, so he told me to have some of his since he didn’t want it anymore. It had this weird taste–an insane amount of oregano or anise, I couldn’t tell, but it was gross. It was less expensive there than it would have been at Red Lobster, my 2nd choice, though. Needless to say, first and last time at Johnny Carino’s.

We went to Wal-Mart to get house-cleaning supplies and groceries and then came home. It was 8:30 when we got here–we were literally in town all day.

I put everything away when we got here and sat down on the rug in front of the TV for some scrapbooking. Mario left to Chris’ so it was just me and Jaylen; I’d already put Eenan in bed for school the next day.

Mary had come by earlier and said to keep candles and flashlights out since we were under a thunderstorm warning. I thought nothing of it since just a few nights before we’d been under a warning, but nothing ever happened. Well this time, it did. The lights went out at around 11:30 or 12. Jaylen stayed near me while he lit the way with his Gameboy so I could light candles. I couldn’t find my lighter anywhere since Mario had taken it. Mario got here before I started panicking and we lit as many candles as we could. He gets a call from his Mom to move the van out of the carport and move the Equinox in. He went out there and I lost sight of him as soon as he walked out the door. The wind and dirt were flying around so fast and hard it stung when it hit you. And the noises! I thought it was a tornado for sure. We layed out the futon in the living room and brought Eenan over from the bedroom. We dragged Eenan’s twin into the living room and Mario and I layed there (just like when we first started living together!). We shut the door to the bedroom just in case the windows broke apart–it sounded like they were going to, they were rattling so bad. We went to sleep around 1:30 or 2, and the lights came back on at 3:15, according to John who was awake all night. When we woke up the next day we saw branches all over the yard, part of the wooden fence had fallen down. When I watched the news later they talked about a mobile home that had been thrown on it’s side and another home that had the roof torn off and was left tilted. They said it was only a thunderstorm with 60mph winds. I’d HATE to know what a tornado feels like. This was really scary.

As for today, I’m going to watch some movies I rented and finish with laundry. I feel so bored and I don’t know why :(.
