When Bad Things Happen to Good People

I don’t want to say I’m having a shitty day because, God forbid, it could be worse, but things aren’t exactly working out .

First, my darn cable keeps going out. I don’t know what’s going on, but since last night the internet’s been all wacky. For a while I thought we’d gotten some kind of virus or adware or something that was making the computer run really slow (and just our luck, we need to buy a new Norton becuase this one’s about to expire). I keep having to unplug and replug everything and it’s getting quite annoying.

I needed to send out a letter for Jessica so I got everything ready to send out. I was going to use John’s car since Mario’s at work and Noelia’s not here–and the damn thing doesn’t start. I tried and tried to start it and nothing. Big Mario tried helping me turn it on and said maybe the float thingy isn’t marking the gas correctly and it needs gas. It shows that it still has 1/4 of a tank, but I don’t think it does .

I was going to ask Mary if she could take me (since I wouldn’t dare drive her huge van) but Big Mario tells me she’s with the cops next door at their apartments. There’s a couple in apartment 1: an 18 year old girl who’s confined to a wheelchair and is about 6-7 months pregnant and her husband, who’s 37. In apartment 2 there’s a newlywed young couple. Apparently, the 37 year old forced his way into the other couple’s apartment and tried raping the girl. He was all drugged up. Thankfully the girl got away, ran out the back door and across the street to her parents house (didn’t know they lived there). At the same time, her husband arrived from work. The 37 year old refused to get out of the house–he barricaded the doors. The 18 year old gets here when the cops arrive and is, obviously, hysterical. I feel so bad for her . The girl who was assaulted and her family spoke to the 18 year old and hugged her. She left, sobbing, to her mom’s house I’m assuming. When they finally got him out, they told Mary they also found drugs in the apartment. They brought sniffer dogs, of whatever they’re called, too.

I had a bad, bad feeling about that guy. From the first time I ever spoke to him (which was when he came over to ask about the apartment and was waiting for Mary) and he kept making small talk and asked, “You have a lot of sisters, right?”, I felt really uncomforable. I don’t even go outside to check the mail or throw the trash out–I let John or Mario do it–just to avoid having to speak/look at that guy. I wonder what they’re going to do to him? I just feel bad for his wife. They’re with Housing, so they’ll most likely kick them out. I hope the girl’s mother has a stable place for her to stay (but I really don’t think she does ).

(…about 30 minutes later…) Just got back from Mary’s. 2 guys (probably his brothers) and his mother were over there throwing all kinds of things out of his car. They even threw the girl’s wheelchair out and left it next to the trash can–wonder what that was all about? They got envelopes and stuff–drugs? I don’t know. The mom came back and Mary went over there and got the key from her. Supposedly her daughter-in-law gave her the key and she was only coming back for her lamp and TV. They’re blaming the 18 year old for all this (since she admitted he did drugs in the morning in the bathroom) and I’m scared for her. Shit, I’m scared for us! These are scary people. Mary put a restraining order on him–he can’t be near the house or the apartments. I’m afraid his “people” will get all pissed off because of that, or him even, and go psycho on us.

Anyway, wanted to take the boys to the library, but of course, the stupid car doesn’t work . We’re going to do absolutely NOTHING today and I don’t want to be here with all the crazies in the neighborhood.

Doesn’t help that I’m PMSing either…

Ready for Summer

First, Happy 18th Birthday to John!

Also, pixydust.net’s reached over 100,000 visitors! Thank you so much to all who’ve stuck with me for so long and a big thanks to my new visitors .

This is nice. Getting home from picking Eenan up and doing absolutely nothing. Usually, we’d get home, cool off (we live in south Texas so even though we have the air conditioner in the car on ‘High’ our skin still feels like it’s melting off our bones), then I’d help Eenan with his homework–which would usually last an hour since he’d get frustrated/lazy. Now, since it’s his last week of school and they have no homework, we just get home and relax. *content*

I’m crossing my fingers that Mario will be up to going to the beach next Sunday. Or one of the Thursdays. I want to beat the college/high school crowds, and the unbearable 105° heat, so I want to go sooner than later. I want to get a cute skirt or capris before we go though . Problem with capris is, I’m so SHORT that all the ones I’ve tried on so far fit me like regular jeans .

Noelia and Andy want to go to Sea World soon and want us to accompany them. I want to go, because that’ll probably be the only place we’ll go this summer if we go at all. It’s going to be hard convincing Mario to go. He told Big Mario on Sunday that they asked him if he wanted his vacations yet, and he said no! He said all the other guys had to wait a year before they got theirs, and it wouldn’t be fair to them if he got them when he’s only been there 8 months. I was like . The difference between him and some (not all) of the guys that have been there is that he works his ass off! That’s why they’re probably giving him his vacation time already. But I don’t know. We’ll only need 2 days to go. He can maybe trade one of his Thursdays for someone who works on a Saturday. Then we can leave Friday night, we’ll have Saturday to be in San Antonio, spend a little bit of time there Sunday and come back Sunday night. Gotta run that by him soon. *crosses fingers*

I want to have a fun summer. I want the boys to enjoy themselves. I don’t want to be cooped up in the house for two months. John and I need to figure out exactly when we’ll be getting our licenses. I know he needs a bit more practice (shit, I do, too…I’m still skurred!), but hopefully soon. I’d drive much more comfortably if I had a license in my wallet. The cops here will stop you for every little thing, and that makes me REALLY nervous.

I need to figure out what to make for dinner and Mario’s lunch. Blah. I have absolutely no idea what to make anymore and it doesn’t help we need groceries! I appologized last night for making the same things over and over again and he replied with, “I don’t mind. I love your food.” Aww . That’s the way to my heart right there–compliment my cooking. He was telling me about how Albert, his co-worker, was jealous of the meatloaf and homemade mashed potatoes I made him a few days ago. Mario said Albert called his wife, Jannett, before he went home and asked if she knew how to make meatloaf and mashed potatoes. He heard him say, very sadly, “Oh, okay. No, no, that’s fine.” Aww LOL. Mario needs to get a few hours off on Friday night for John’s graduation, and since Albert’s in charge that night we’re planning to bribe him with some meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn and lasagna since he likes how I make that, too LOL.

Ah yes, it’s that time of the day where Jaylen cries for no reason at all, which means he’s due for a nap…

Star Wars & Procrastination

Revenge of the Sith was THE BEST! It was incredible. I won’t go into detail for those who haven’t seen it yet, but man, you’ve GOT to see it. The boys had a great time. Jaylen fell asleep halfway through (as always) but loved what he got to see and Eenan just adored it. He kept commenting and laughing during the funny parts. There was one “gorey” part, where Mario had to quickly reach over and shield his eyes, but nothing else really bothered him.

Negative Things:
– arguing with Mario, openly in front of the kids, about finances on the way over there
– ending up at the wrong theatre because I forgot which one we were going to *slaps self*
– hearing Mario complain about how we were going to get crappy seats because of my navigational mistake
– Eenan having a pee-pee accident =\
– Mario having to get out of line to wait for me (the boys went with Sonia, Noey, and Andy) since I hadn’t had a chance to go pee yet because of Eenan’s accident

Positive Things:
– We got back in line right away
– We got REALLY good seats!
– The boys were incredibly well-behaved
– The movie rocked!
– Mario and I made peace 😛

After the movie we went to Aunt Nora’s. There, we talked with John about getting our driver’s licenses together and he’s going to come over today to practice his turns and stuff. We discussed the plan of action–what he’s doing over the summer. After he gets his license he’ll be driving Mom to work and back since she has to go in at night now and Aunt Nora can’t drive at night. During the day (while Mom’s at work) he can go around and fill out applications at places. If he hopefully gets a job, he’ll work and Mom will quit. That’ll go on till I can figure something out. I was thinking maybe after Jaylen starts school I can drop him off with her when he gets out (or before he goes in, depending on what time of day he’ll be attending Pre-K) and pay her for babysitting him while I take a few classes. That’s my goal for next year–getting my license (this year) and then starting school. I can’t wait really.

As for today, I have lots of stuff to do around the house. I hardly did anything yesterday since I was messing around with the website. I had to make myself a list last night in order to get things done! How sad is that? If I don’t have a list, I’m completely lost . I’ll probably have to do that today.

And, speaking of the site, I installed the Plugboard. It didn’t use a database . For some reason, when I tried installing it before, I thought it used one, heh. Thinking it needed one is what scared me away from trying to install it. I’m so lazy when it comes to learning new “web” stuff, it’s pathetic.

Okay, breakfast is ready and it smells delicious!
