Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

Made a new skin! If you’re still viewing the old ones, click here to see the new one. Sorry about that…it was popping out in this Iframe *smacks forehead*. To see it, click on ‘Cheer & Share’ in the side menu. I can’t get rid of that blasted blue line around the layout . That’s what I get for rushing!

Anyway, I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was nice . Ours was great. Started out not-too-great since Mario didn’t want to go to Aunt Nora’s to pick Mom up to spend the morning with us, but we went to see her in the evening for a while so it worked out. I tried not being a total douchebag around everyone after he pissed me off. We went over to Yadira’s, where Mary prepared her traditional Thanksgiving feast and we ate. Everything was delicious. I literally couldn’t get up off my seat when it came time for us to leave .

We went to Jorge and Maggie’s after that, around 2pm. Maggie and her sister, Connie, made a whole bunch of food! Her sister even made a spice cake in the microwave with some Tupperware thing. We ate again around 4…and I swear I thought I was going to hurl…I had never felt so full in my life. I didn’t want to be rude though, since they invited us over and all. Maggie was already feeling upset because her in-laws didn’t really eat when she invited them over. We chilled out for about another hour after that, then went to visit Mom and Aunt Nora. Aunt Nora and everyone else were leaving to a movie, so we saw them briefly, but we stayed with Mom for about 45 minutes and talked and looked at ads in the newspaper, since Mary and I’d be going to the Black Friday sales at 5am the next morning! Mario, was of course, being a pain, so we had to make our visit short. I woke up at 5am, left with Mary and Sonia to Home Depot, Toys R Us, Comp USA, Sears, JC Penny and Circuit City. John and Mario stayed with the boys and then John babysat them after Mario left for work.

It was absolute chaos. There were 3 fender benders at the same time in the parking lot of the mall. Mary and I told off a manager at Comp USA because he was being a total dick to everyone. He was pretty surprised when I called him an asshole . We also got a price adjustment on a roll-away toolbox Mario bought at Sears. They kept trying to give us the run around until I told them I was once a cashier/sales associate at a store and yes, they should give us a price adjustment since we bought it within 7 days. Bastards. The manager was really apologetic and polite after we proved our point though. I know what I’m getting for Christmas from Mary too! I went to check if they had any Rainbow Brite Light Up Color Castles and they did! And she told me to bring it and I said no, Mario would get mad if I bought it LOL. Then she said she’d get it but I couldn’t open it till Christmas. YAY!

Saturday, John and I and the kids got up early to go shopping again. I got Jaylen one of his Christmas presents. I need to figure out what else to get them. I know what Eenan wants already too. I also got a Glade 3-in-1 candle…OMG it smells wonderful. I did a bit of decorating…not much since we 1) don’t have the space and 2) Mario would have an attack if I had decorations all over the place LOL. After we got back from town I went to the store to get a few things Mary needed since she was leaving that day for a 1 week trip to Arizona. When we were walking out of the last store we went to I felt something soft rub against my leg and then I hear Jaylen scream, “Mama! A Kitty!!!” He had her in his arms by the time I looked down. I looked around for a while to check if her mother was around, or if there were other kittens around, but saw nothing. She was so skinny and tiny (I think she’s a runt) so I brought her home to feed her. She was ravenous, the poor thing. I brought her with the sole purpose of making her healthy and then giving her away, but she’s growing on us. I didn’t want to name her because then I’d get attached, but her name’s Choco Cat LOL. She looks just like him, big eyes and all! I think we may just keep her. She’s a fiesty little thing though. She’ll be purring up a storm and as soon as you touch her, she turns on her back and starts playfully nibbling on you, which really hurts because her teeny teeth are razor sharp. I cleaned the bathroom that day and my hands were on fire because of the Lysol and all the little kitten-induced cuts.

Speaking of, you know you’re getting older when you get excited over cleaning products that get rid of that soap scum you couldn’t get rid of for the past 3 months. I love Lysol *hugs bottle*. I’d never tried it on the bathroom stall…only on the counters and vanity and around the toilet. I’d only used stuff like Tilex for the stall. My bathroom is SPARKLING! See? There goes the old lady talking about her bathroom. Kill me now.

John spent the whole weekend here and I spent it teasing and torturing him LOL. He’d play a dumb song I don’t like, so I’d start singing kareoke. He’d say something I didn’t want to know, like, something about his privates. So I’d tell him that Mario and I “canoodled” on the futon, where he was sleeping. ROFL. It was hilarious. It was cool having him here since I would have been totally lonely (except for the boys’ company) since Mario’s been working 12-13 hours a day. It’s been so busy that he’s not getting a day off for 3 weeks!

Welp, I think that’s all. Gotta finish painting at the apartment. It’s almost 2 and I haven’t done a thing! God, I hope I finish today…and that I don’t hurt my back like I did on Wednesday night. I had a horrible, pinching pain. It wouldn’t go away and I couldn’t even sit! Noey invited Mario and I to play pool that night and I was a bit depressed because I didn’t think I could play. I sat out the first two games then played against Noey on the 3rd. Mario made a friend and played pool with him and the guy’s friend most of the night…aww. After my first two games, the pain started to go away. Thank God. I constantly have back pain, but nothing like that before!

Okay, okay. I’m stalling. I’ll go paint now. Eeh.

Eenan Update & Mario’s Birthday

Eenan stayed home from school on Wednesday because he still had a slight fever. When Mary got home from work that day we took Eenan to the doctor. Dr. Z. gave him a thorough check-up and was worried because he’d had the fever for so long so she requested a lab. He hated getting blood drawn . She also gave us orders to get a chest x-ray done since he was complaining about chest pain and becase he has a history of bronchial problems. She gave him new (very bad tasting) medicines, and Albuterol for his nebulizer. We stopped by H-E-B after we left the doctor’s and I got some Nyquil for me and a thermometer since ours was nowhere to be found. Thursday, Eenan went to school half the day, then Noey and I picked him up during lunch and took him for his x-ray. We still haven’t gotten the results–maybe Monday.

Mario was off Friday, his birthday . We went to pick up his check at work, cashed it, went to Home Depot to get some tools Mario needed for work, ate at Taco Bell because Jaylen and I were starving, then we picked Eenan up from school. We took him to the doctor and when we see her she says, and dammit I can’t remember the word…that something in his blood that’s supposed to be from 0-15 was at 85, which meant that there was inflammation somewhere in his body, which was an infection. She asked that labs be done again because there wasn’t enough blood for it the first time. So there’s Eenan, screaming his little head off. Took all of us to hold him down. She also told us his referral for seeing the optometrist was in the mail. My lil guy may need to wear glasses!

They needed a urine sample, and since he’d just peed when we got to the office he couldn’t pee again, so they gave us the stuff to take home and have him pee there and take the specimen to the hospital within one hour. Mary had picked Mom up from work and stopped at the doctor’s office to pick up the kids since we still had a few more places to go and they were tired. We went to Petland to get some rat food, a new water bottle for Pecan (since he’s too little for the one that came with his cage), and a “house” or something for the rats. We only found the water bottle and spent the rest of the time playing with the bunnies and ferrets. I fell in love with a Pomeranian and a Maltese puppy. They were too darn cute. I want a Pomeranian SO bad , but Mario doesn’t like “little, yappy, hairy dogs”. Grr.

We went to Pet Smart afterwards and got the rest of the stuff we needed, plus some treats for the rodents . After that we stopped at H-E-B for a cheesecake. I was supposed to make one from scratch, but it needs about 3 hours to cool and there was no way we’d have time. It was already 6pm, and everyone was meeting at Mary’s for Mario’s birthday at 7. After we got the cheesecake, we stopped by the beauty salon to get Mario’s haircut. Then, we finally went home. I helped Mary with a few things, then everyone started showing up. John was spending the weekend with us so he walked to our house afterschool. While everyone was eating, I get a call from Dr. Z. She said Eenan’s lab results came in and that his white blood cell count was at 19,000! She said to keep a log of his temperatures and not to forget to give him his medicines and nebulizer treatments. She also called in a stronger antibiotic, and asked me to check ‘urine culture’ on the sheet she gave me to turn in with his specimen. I was so worried when I hung up with her that I started to feel sick to my stomach. I just wanted Eenan to be better already. I barely ate anything and then got to giving Eenan his medicines, which I have to mix with a LOT of chocolate or strawberry milk to hide the horrible tastes. I tasted the cough medicine and it literally numbed my tongue! The antibiotic was just as horrendous and to top it off was grainy, which he hated. I took his temp., which was at 98.5 and then Mario and I got ready to go to Fast Eddie’s Billiards. We’d be meeting Jorge, Maggie and Noelia there. I kept telling myself Eenan would be fine and forced myself to have a good time. By the end of the night, I did. I totally suck at playing pool, but it was fun anyway. Mario had a good time, and I was so happy about that. We came home and John was already asleep. Noey brought Jaylen over (he was asleep too) and Eenan slept over at Mary’s. Mario and I fed all our animals and then went to bed. I’d never fallen asleep so fast.

I made breakfast for Mario the next day and of course, helped him get ready because he never knows where anything is. Then I got ready and Mary got my boys ready and we were off. It was John and his girlfriend’s 1 year anniversary, so they were going to go out for a movie. We were going to watch The Incredibles, which was really good. Really long, but really good. It was funny . John and his girlfriend watched Ray, so he was out 40 minutes before we were. We stopped to see Gramma for a little bit since I hadn’t seen her in almost 2 weeks (due to the garage sale last week). She’s doing good. She doesn’t like that her stuff is still in storage and that she’s not in the room she was in before, but she’s doing well. She’s not one to complain at all. I gathered my boys, waited out in the cold for a little bit since everyone’d gone to get gas at the gas station across the street, then we went to eat at Pizza Hut. Crappiest service ever. They never got anything right. I took the chance to get Eenan’s urine sample there LOL. So I got it, wrote the info on the container and put it away. Then we went to drop it off at the hospital which took forever. Then we went to H-E-B since I, Yadira and Sonia needed to pick up prescriptions. I bought some diapers and paper plates, then gave Eenan his medicine in the van. He took it with no problem since this one tasted much better. Like strawberries even, and it’s only once a day, which he’s happy about. Then we finally came home. Spent some time with Mario on the couch, where I ended up falling asleep for a while LOL. Eenan slept over at Mary’s again, Mario went over to Jorge’s to play Halo 2, and then I was just here with Jaylen and John. I was bored out of my mind after he went outside to talk on the phone with his girlfriend, so I fed my animals and went to bed. I slept so good last night. My nose wasn’t running and I wasn’t drooling on my pillow for once. I can’t wait to be completely over this damn cold!

Don’t know what we’re doing today. I need to buy a broom. I think that’s what I’m gonna do after I finish my leftover pizza and apple Fanta.

[edit 11-15-04] Holy crap! Was looking through Ebay and found this! I HAVE this doll…I had no idea she’d go for THAT MUCH in the UK![/edit]

Eventful Few Days=Very Long Entry

I’ve totally stalled with the skinning/PHP’ing of the site. Actually, it’s more like I’ve come to a sudden halt. My brain+PHP+HTML=Mush. I thought I knew what I was doing, but I can’t get the site to do what I want it to do; I almost ruined it today . The tutorial I used to skin the site allows Iframes…all the others don’t mention iframes or how to incorporate them into the site. Yet, with the one I used…I’m still having trouble…I don’t even want to think about it right now. But then I really want to get it done . ARGH!

Anyway, as for the past few days…Wednesday was Tommy’s birthday so we got together at their house. I made one of the cakes–Monci took the other one. It was almost like Thanksgiving…Yadira was craving turkey and Tommy thought it would be cool to have turkey so Mary made the works. It was awesome. I made Yadira laugh her ass off when I told her about my little incident at the store. I’d write about it here but it’s a lot funnier if you actually “see” what happened LOL. It was a cool night. After we left the party we went to Autozone to get a part Mario needed and the next day he fixed the Sentra! It’s so good to have my little car back !

On Thursday after we took Eenan to school, I cleaned. And cleaned, and cleaned. The kitchen and livingroom were spotless. Mario even cleaned the bathroom without me asking him to! I still need to give the bedroom a good cleaning. I have to sort their toys once again since they won’t fit into their bedroom if we ever split the room. Here’s a pic of their stuffed animals in a pile:

Cheer Bear’s mine though . But yeah…and it’s so hard to choose what to get rid of because they’re so attatched to everything. They have a gazillion Care Bears. Here’s a pic of their toy boxes:

And that’s just one side of the bedroom . I’ve got my work cut out for me! Is everyone else like this? Do all other parents out there have rooms with toys popping out all over the place? I seriously don’t know how we’ve accumulated so much stuff…we *just* had a darn garage sale and we haven’t even bought the kids toys in forever!

Anyway, that day I took Mom to the store since she needed packing materials and cleaning supplies. I needed milk and got some pumpkin spice scented candles. They make the house smell so good! And they were only $.70 for both!

When we got back, Mario and I cleaned the car from top to bottom. We cleaned the spots on the carpet with Tuff Stuff (it works so well!) and detailed the rest of the car. It looks and smells great . After we were done, we picked the kids up, I gave Jaylen a quick bath since he was super sticky and then went to Jorge’s. We chilled out for a bit then the neighbor came over and we played darts. When it was my turn everyone was like, “Oh no! Here she comes!” I won the first two games I played, and then I SUCKED. I only won 4 or 5 games (compared to the 20 or so I won last time). I was so disappointed. I wanted to play darts so badly, and when I finally do, I did horribly. I blame it on the “new” darts…I couldn’t grip them correctly . On top of that, I started getting horrible pains in my knees, which caused me to focus a lot less. Grr I say. Mario didn’t do too well that night either…he only won 3

That day we also found out Mary had the beginning signs of osteoperosis in her back . About time the darn Surgeon General made it a point to get women checked for that. I wonder how Gramma and Mom are…if they have any signs of osteoperosis. Neither of them are big on calcium.

Friday I cleaned a bit more (I’ve had huge bursts of energy lately…I like it!) and I got out some costumes we had that the kids hadn’t worn before and tried them on the boys. Eenan liked the bee costume, but I think someone had used it before and broke the side tie and it was a bit small on him. Jaylen loved the spider costume.

After we picked the kids up and Mary got home we went on a search for Eenan’s costume. He wanted to be a tarantula from the beginning, but we had no luck finding one. We ended up getting him a Ninja costume he liked from Target. He especially loves the blade he got for it. Jaylen wanted to be a Ninja too, but also likes the spider costume so HE decided he’s going to be a Ninja Spider. He said he needs a sword LOL.

We picked up Chinese at the House of China and the General Tao’s chicken we got was awesome. I think it’s even better than Lotus’, and like, 3 times less expensive!

After we finished eating I went over to Mom’s and helped them pack. I thought they had more done, but nope. We got a good amount of stuff packed/separated for the garage sale. John and I were joking around and laughing our asses off most of the night–Mom kept getting mad at us and telling us to get to work. Just like old times LOL. We even “fenced”…he with a thousand year old duster and me with a toilet brush. I got him a few times LOL. Later Mario came over with Jaylen (Eenan was sleeping over at Mary’s) and he joined in on the jokes. It was fun and we made good progress. We came home and Sonia taught Mario and I how to play poker, so we did. We played a few games. It was fun .

Mario left to Chris’ after that and Jaylen fell asleep, so I stayed up and watched the episode of Life As We Know It that I recorded and the episode I missed and downloaded. I wanted to start watching that show just because Kelly Osbourne was in it, but I really got hooked on it. It’s…different.

Yesterday we just lounged around. I helped Mary make some (very delicious) candy apples for Noey’s carnival at the college and later I made some killer cheese and chicken enchiladas for lunch. Then we got ready and picked Mom up from work and then went to see Gramma. We got there in time for her dinner, so I fed her again. I asked her if she liked it better at this place and she said yes, that the lady she shares the room with is very nice and gave her a roll of deoderant, goodies, and some hair clips. As she says that, she turns her head and shows me her hair and I see a blue clip that’s falling off. I fixed her hair and she looked so nice . I’m glad she’s not lonely and is doing well.

We went home and all piled up in the van to go the carnival at UTPA. Noey dressed up as a vampiress and looked awesome. I was angry at Mario because he didn’t want to go, but I sucked it up and decided I was going to have fun. Mom and John went too. We stopped at a bakery on the way over there and picked up some little cakes Mary’s friend from work had given us once. They are SO good. I’ve never tasted anything like them. That bakery brought back memories of the bakery Mom and I would go to when I was little. It smelled so old fashioned and really nice.

The boys had fun at the carnival. They could only get on a few rides…most were too big. Jaylen freaked out at this inflatable slide thing, but Eenan loved it. Jaylen went on the Moon Jump instead. He only got on it twice, since there were lots of kids who had to take turns, but they did get about 10 minutes each turn. They also got lots of free candy and nachos .

When we got home, Mario got here too. He’d left to Chris’, which pissed me off even more because I thought, “He didn’t spend time with his family, but he can always spend time with his friends”, and he’s always going to Chris’ at night. I normally don’t mind, but I wanted him to go with us somewhere for once. He was going to go back to Chris’ and I let him know how I felt about the whole thing. He just said “Whatever” and walked out. We’d gotten The Grudge (shh!) and I really wanted to watch it since I heard from everyone that it was really scary, and was disappointed that Mario wasn’t here to see it. So I just washed dishes. Mario calls about 30 minutes later and asks if I wanted to watch the movie. I said no, that I wasn’t in the mood anymore. When we hung up, he walked through the door. He ended up making me laugh, as always and we agreed to watch the movie. Eenan was sleeping over at Mary’s again and Jaylen was already falling asleep, so he brought the twin bed from the kids’ bunk beds and put it in the living room. We all laid there and got comfy. The movie though, was a HUGE disappointment! I expected it to be so much scarier than that. Some things were pointless. Noelia watched it the day before and said grown men were walking out of the theatre, so I thought, ‘If MEN were walking out, this has got to be a GREAT movie’. No way. They were walking out because it was WEAK! I dozed off at least 4 times while watching it, no joke–and I’m not one to fall asleep during movies. I’m so in the mood for something scary…especially since Halloween’s right around the corner!

Today we didn’t do much. I cleaned again, then later we picked Mom up and then went to see Gramma and then to H-E-B to get some fajitas for dinner. We took Gramma some pics of the boys. I didn’t have any of Jaylen…we only have them on CD’s or on the computer, so I took a picture of the boys and took my memory stick to Yadira’s and printed out a picture on her Canon picture maker. It came out so nice…I want one of those cameras/printers so badly! Gramma loved the picture . We got there after dinner, so we didn’t get to feed her and I think she missed that. She said, “I already ate…I was waiting for you!” Awww .

Wow this was long…gonna go find Cookie and put him back in his cage. We’ve been letting him run around the house and he loves it. He’s such a little fatso! He is constantly eating. I also have to follow him around and scoop his lil dumplings of poop . Here’s a pic of him resting on the twin bed before we took it back to the bedroom:

Goodnight!
