Valentine’s Day 2009

It feels so good to be typing up this entry on the actual day that it’s happening…or something like that LOL. I am finally caught up on my entries and uploading all my pics to Flickr. My Baby Log is almost all caught up, too–I just have to upload my 37-week pic and the sono.

So we took it easy this Valentine’s Day. I woke up at 8:30 to give the boys breakfast and then tried going back to sleep. I woke up like 2 times during the night to pee and then 2 more times after giving the boys breakfast. I finally decided at 11am that it was enough sleeping (or lack there-of) and was about to tip-toe to the bathroom to take a shower. Alaethia caught me so I gave her breakfast and served some Rice Crispies for myself. Mario woke up around 11:45 and finally watched Alaethia so I could take a shower and do my hair. I got out of the shower and John was here, with his new Zune that his girlfriend gave him. He’s quite disappointed that he caught that stupid Trojan that Mario and I had. I really hate that Trojan.

Mom came over and watched Alaethia and Mary watched the boys. Well, Mom would have watched them but of course they stuck to Mary like glue. Mario picked up some Whataburger (after they pissed him off for interrupting him like 50 times when he tried to place an order on the phone). He ate on the way over to the movies. We watched Confessions of a Shopaholic, which Mario hated every minute of, I think LOL. It was actually really different from the movie, of course, but it was still sweet.

We came straight home and chilled out a while. We still had no idea what we were going to do to celebrate tonight. Yadira and Elda were having this lasagna dinner at Jorge and Mona’s and everyone was going to pitch in, but we decided we’d go get groceries and make something awesome for ourselves at home. We got Alaethia ready and left. We got some steaks, corn, some Knorr pasta (that I will probably never make again), and some strawberries and chocolate to make chocolate-covered strawberries.

Staying In On V-Day

Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

The dinner was delicious and I think I ate, like, 10 strawberries on my own. And we’ve been chilling out, watching movies since dinner. I even busted out the back massager Mrs. V. gave me for Christmas and finally used it. It was amazing! The only thing that sucks is you can’t use it for more than 20-minute intervals.

We’re finishing up The Heartbreak Kid movie which is kind of weird, but funny.

Tomorrow I’ve got to get back on the ball. I’ve got a lot to do in my bedroom, I need to clean up Alaethia’s room (it threw up her toys), and I’ve got the last 3 things I need to get ready for Emily to do. I’m getting so anxious. I’m starting to wonder when Emily will make her debut. I kept hearing from everyone that I’d be delivering around 36 weeks but now, at 37 1/2 weeks, I’m kind of thinking I may just make it to my due date (March 4th).

Dinner Party

I got up, made breakfast (eggs overeasy and toast for Mario, cheesy eggs for myself and Alaethia). I ate and had my (decaf) coffee. It was 9:30 so I went to check on Alaethia. She was so peaceful I cuddled up next to her and probably passed out. Next thing I knew soft, tiny hands were rubbing my face and a sweet little voice was saying, “Wake up, Mama!” That’s the best way to wake up :).

I gave Alaethia breakfast and called the doctor’s office to ask about the whole GBS thing and the antibiotics. I asked if they were absolutely positive that I take it now. The nurse, Erica, said yes; I’d take it now and then I’d get it intravenously during labor. Ok. Fine. I’m counting on them to be right.

I blogged for a bit then I chatted with Maggie, who asked if I was making enchiladas for dinner. I said sure; she’d asked the day before but we thought she was joking. Jorge announced it over the intercom that everyone was invited for enchiladas and chocolate chip cookies at our house tonight. I kind of freaked because when he said “everyone” was going over I didn’t realize that meant Mario, Jorge, Maggie and Adan—the only ones that work there besides Manny and Robert LOL.

I don’t know what goes through my mind, but I began to prep the trim in the bathroom (spackling the nail holes and nailing whatever needed it, taping off the wall). I finally painted the trim white. I cleaned up and got dressed to pick up the boys. Then we went to Dollar General to get corn tortillas for the enchiladas. They didn’t have any. I was hungry, because I missed lunch for painting so I got some Rice Crispies Treats, some tea and chips for the boys. Then we went to H-E-B.

Even though they were a bit hyper at times they still did well and helped me shop. We got everything we needed, came home, they started their homework while I unloaded and put everything away. Then I started on the enchiladas. I felt like I wasn’t going to have enough time, so I texted Maggie about them coming at 7:30 instead of 6:30. Mario called and said they’d be working a little later, so I hoped they’d make it on time.

It think it was while I was cooking that the boys got into a physical brawl over some dumb Xbox game, probably Halo. I had never seen them get so aggressive and be such…boys! I literally had to pull them apart because they were about to start punching each other. When I told Mario later he said I should have let them duke it out (!).

I was done with everything at 7:10 so I texted Maggie and had enough time to change clothes and make myself decent. Everyone started arriving right after I got dressed. I’m so glad everyone (Mary, Big Mario, all the kids, us and our guests) got to eat and everyone complimented my cooking, which is the best thing ever. They were disappointed because I hadn’t made the chocolate chip cookies, but I ended up making them anyway while Maggie and I were in the kitchen. She hadn’t seen the apartment/house in a while and said she really liked what we’d done with the place.

While I was mixing the batter for the cookies and talking about the gym Maggie’s going to we hear Alaethia give a content sigh in her high chair. She’d been eating some yogurt in there and when I turned around after I heard the sigh I didn’t know whether to laugh or get upset with her: she was completely covered from head to toe in yogurt. She just smiled and continued to rub more yogurt on herself. I called Mario and took pictures before sticking her in the tub for a bath.

We ate cookies and I sent the boys to bed. Alaethia was still up and so were Jorgie and Justin. They ran around outside with her. Jorge, Maggie and their kids left and we stayed outside with Adan for a while until Alaethia started saying she was cold. I left the few dishes I had left for the morning and got ready for bed. It was a pretty good day :).

More Last Minute Shopping & Laughs

I woke up at around 10:30am and wanted to get up and ready, but I didn’t want to wake Mario too early. I made some banana pancakes and waited patiently for them to wake up. But when he did wake up he started watching a movie. Ok, one movie. I could deal with that. But when that one was over he started watching Back to the Future. Um no, I told him we had to get up now and leave.

Alaethia was the only one who went with us, of course. Our first stop was Ross. I got a canvas basket for the girls’ blankets and a new photo album. I couldn’t find a nice key rack; I can’t find a nice one anywhere, in fact. I don’t want to have to put up the same old cow one.

Our next stop was Target where we got diapers for Alaethia and to exchange Emily’s car seat head support. Then we went to Walmart where we returned the baby bather since I’d already bought the foam one I used when Alaethia was a baby. We got a few things there then came home and unloaded all the stuff. I wanted to start working on my Baby Log but had to reinstall PSP, my FTP, and find my USB extender to connect everything that needed to be connected.

I debated what to make for dinner. Jorge had invited us over for salmon, but I felt weird intruding. Mario was quickly getting antsy and when he gets antsy or annoyed he pretends to go to sleep. Grr. I ate some macaroni and chips and avocado (I had no appetite whatsoever) and then we went over. The boys had school the next day so of course they stayed with Mary. Alaethia went with us. She’s usually pretty good about going over there.

We talked about jobs and the whole overdraft thing. Don’t even get me started on that! We watched TV and then I started getting horrible hot flashes. We went outside where it was nice and cool—well for me–everyone else was cold. Alaethia was fussing for a while and then went to sleep in my arms. She was comfy. She slept amazingly the whole time I was laughing my butt off. I couldn’t stop laughing at the guys (Jorge, Javi, Mario and Adan). I like those nights out.
