Hold the Sugar

It’s uncomfortably cold in this office. I made myself a cup of manzania tea to help, and I’m going to TRY to use only one packet of sugar. I decided today that I need to commit to cutting back on sugar. And coffee. It’s happening again, like a few years ago, that I’d get a really upset stomach and I’d feel jittery and like crap all day. Hence why I drink soda only once in a blue moon.

So. I’m going to try. To curb the jittery-feel-like-crapness and to try and lose some weight! We’re getting back into the comfort snacking and it’s not good. We’d been doing so well, but as of November…we stumbled off the wagon =\.

I remember completely giving up coffee back when I’d developed diabetes in 2008 and I hated artificial sweeteners so I just stopped drinking it. And then of course I got pregnant with Emily so I stayed off it, heh.

It’s so hard to stay away from sugar working here, though! Just today they brought us pan dulce from De Alba’s bakery. I got a cookie, just so I wasn’t rude, but I only took a bite. I could taste the shortening so I didn’t eat it. But had it been a brownie…!

(Ew. Only one packet of sugar is bleh :(.)

But I drank the darn thing with just that one and I’m warm (and they turned the air up, too!). I need to get some healthy snacks. I eat lunch at 11:30…so by the time I go home and start dinner I’m ravenous and want to eat everything in sight =\.

The days are just dragging by. We’re at a standstill with events right now, so it’s been pretty chill for me for a few weeks. I should just enjoy it and quit complaining, though. Soon enough we’ll be preparing for 3 new events and I’m going to PRAY for some downtime.

(I couldn’t help it. I stole 3 Jelly Bellies from a box on my co-worker’s desk. No willpower!)

Ok. Trying to get CVB’s Pinterest to work. That’s all for now :).

[edited @ 6:44pm] Well. Like Michelle announced on Facebook…yes. I gave in *sigh*. We went downstairs at 4:30 and had some sweet bread. She had a tiny piece of cookie and I had a small piece of danish but the point is, we gave in. We’d just been looking at before and after pics of girls who’d gotten body wraps done. And then we immediately went to stuff our faces LOL.

I ran some errands right after work. We were having a reception; we’re hosting the VP of Education of Apple Inc. because of the iPads the district is buying but I didn’t want to wait half an hour to attend it. So I came home and I’m so glad I did. I remembered Jorge said he wanted to barbecue, which meant I didn’t have to cook :)! He’s the best :*). I find myself staring at him and wondering how I got so lucky. Like this morning: he got up half an hour earlier than he had to and gave the girls breakfast while I finished getting ready for work :D.

I lazied around with the girls after work and then my love got home :). We talked to the boys and then John got here, then Jr. got here. We ate, I bathed the girls and put them to bed. And now we’re relaxing on the porch :).

I didn’t update last week after we went to the movies, but we didn’t do too much. We relaxed, which was totally fine with me, heh. Visited Gramma and got to chat with Aunt Nora and Linda a while. We went to the park, spent some time outside in the fresh air and RELAXED :).

My love and I had made plans to go out on St. Patrick’s Day but that didn’t end up happening. I felt guilty about even making plans knowing we had the kids, but I thought, Hey, I work, I’m a good Mom, good girlfriend, it’s ok if we go out for once! BUT, low and behold, we ended up having to convenience the worthless. It didn’t matter, though :). We had fun playing Monopoly with the kids and we had a tiny visitor everyone was hoping to see . Spend time with the kiddos or go out and spend money? That’s an easy one :).

Briana and the kiddos came over to visit on Sunday. We had coffee and caught up and watched all the kids play :). Then that night was spent rushing at the last minute, getting things ready for the next day (this also refers to the conveniencing of said worthless). I even put all the kiddos to bed late, but they were all cooperative the next morning. Even the boys, who have to wake up at 5:45 with me.

John and his girlfriend, Monique, stopped by last night and had dinner here and the four of us laughed and shared stories about dreams and other stuff until I had to bathe the girls. It’s wonderful seeing my bro so genuinely happy :*)!

It’s going to be torture not seeing the boys this week and even worse that all the kids will be with Mario this weekend :(. Maybe I’ll finally end up going to get my massage (still have my gift card!) to just do something on Saturday?

Ok. I have a Words by Post game pending with Jorge and Jr., so this’ll be all. Sorry this post is all over the place hehe :).

Alaethia is 5!

<3

My babygirl, my little fairy princess diva, is 5 years old today! :*) I can’t believe how fast time flies. I feel like I’ve missed so much the past year and it hurts :'(, but at the same time it’s made me appreciate and value the time we do spend together all that much more.

I took her shopping for her gift this past weekend. She, Emily and I made a trip to Toys R Us to get her the Dora kitchen she’d been asking for. Once we got there and she saw everything else, she couldn’t decide. She wanted a Barbie kitchen instead, then some Blythe/Pet Shop playsets and then she finally picked two Barbie playsets:  a “pancakes” one and one with a full Barbie-sized kitchen. She’s really into baking and watches baking videos on YouTube (supervised, of course). Her favorites are Barbie cakes and some about Japanese candies o_O. I’m hoping to have a little birthday party for her next weekend, when they’re with me. I hope funds allow and I can make it happen!

I picked up a cupcake for her (and Emily) on my way home from RGV Cupcake Factory and went to visit her tonight. I visited with the boys a bit, too. Jaylen made me laugh with this weird finger game and I told the boys about how Jorge and I had put a lint-roller tape on Ruffles’ back and he just collapsed, it was the weirdest thing lol.

Before that Tia Sylvia and Tio Mateo came by to visit. Tia’d called me Sunday to let me know they had some fairly new furniture they were getting rid of and they were bringing it over. They sent pics and everything looked awesome and matched our existing furniture!

They get here, we catch up cause I hadn’t seen Tio in decades (for real) and they start bringing the furniture in. I was in shock: everything was BRAND NEW! And gorgeous!

They gave us these matching chairs. I LOVE their shape! I wanted a white one from IKEA that was this exact shape.

Reading nook?

We’re still trying to figure out how to make these work in the living room space, and of course we need some accent colors. How I wish the darn thing wasn’t recessed !

Bistro

They gave us 4 matching counter-height stools. Two of those we scrunched in with the bistro set in the kitchen nook, the other 2 are up next to the kitchen counter. This is actually the set Jorge and I got each other for Christmas. We couldn’t figure out what we wanted, and when he brought up getting the set I couldn’t think of anything more perfect. We’d been wanting this set for a while and it just completes the kitchen. (Yes. We’re weird like that, heh.)

They also gave us a waffle maker, a chopper, a picnic set, a full set of dishes, & two futons that match all the other furniture. One went in the boys’ room, the other will go in our bedroom. As soon as we figure out how to arrange everything .

Anyway, we had Papa Murphy’s pizza which we’d never tried but I was recruiting them for my event so we gave it a shot. Best. Pizza. Ever. Take-and-bake? Fresh Subway-esque ingredients…it was awesome.

Chicken Bacon Artichoke

We went for our jog afterwards and just talked and enjoyed the cool breeze. I love that park :).

I’d written an entry last week, all about New Year’s, but the darn draft didn’t save. So. I have to redo that. Lots of stuff had been going on, including Gramma being hospitalized, but she’s so much better now. I’d been under a lot of stress, but thank GOD things are looking up :).

Ok, it’s late, gonna shower!

Recovering

Updating during lunch again. I should really make this a habit. I just had one of the best lunches ever, but that could probably be because I was positively starving since I only had hazelnut coffee for breakfast (completely unintentional; I brought my banana and oatmeal but was running around all over the place getting things ready for this Saturday’s event that I never got a chance to sit down and eat 🙁 ).

But yes. Leftover homemade chipotle tortilla soup and white corn tortillas slathered with Laughing Cow cheese (2 wedges) and raspberry chipotle salsa. I can feel the heartburn creeping up my esophagus. Totally worth it :D.

We gotta get back on the ball tonight and work out. I had a massive headache all day yesterday. Apparently my body is aging and staying up till 4am on Saturday is a big no-no. I didn’t really sleep in much the next day either so I’m attributing the headache to lack of sleep.

I had to pick up a prescription for myself after work yesterday, handle another matter and then pick up Mom’s prescription. I was all over the place and it didn’t help my headache one bit. Emily was dropped off after work and she snacked on stuff while I made dinner (bacon and turkey sandwiches with Monterrey Jack cheese and grilled onions & green bell peppers). We sat and watched TV (miracle!) and then Jorge got home and I made his dinner. Emily and I followed him to the bedroom, where he was watching the game and she and I cuddled in bed. The last thing I heard was, “Cutie girls…” before I drifted off. I woke up suddenly (probably during one of Jorge’s outbursts ’cause the Cowboys were winning :P) and tried sitting up to stay awake. Jorge said to take a nap, sleep off the headache. He’d wake me up when the game was over so we could work out.

I woke up at 11:15…and we were all passed out on the bed, including Ruffles LOL. I transferred Ems to her bedroom and then we showered and went to sleep. I slept till around 7:30 and felt like a million bucks! We’re gonna try and double our workout tonight. My pants are fitting loose from the few workouts we get in per week and from eating mostly homemade meals; I’d like to know what my results would be if we actually worked out every day!

Ok. Back to the grind!
