Oops! Summary of the Past Week

Been a while, hasn’t it? Everytime I sat in front of the computer to blog I was summoned by the children or husband or there was something I hadn’t done (cleaning, laundry, etc.) and had to do it. I actually started on this entry since the 22nd and have been adding bits here and there when I get the chance. I managed to start on some graphics for the visitor content on…I don’t remember when. Nothing big or “wow” or anything, but I was feeling pixelly and generous . Let’s see how long that lasts.

Let’s see if I can summarize everything without making each day a novel, but you know that never happens .

Friday was the usual–dropping Eenan off, being home with Jaylen, picking Eenan up from school and then just relaxing after that. I made lasagna for dinner while I watched America’s Next Top Model and then Mario got home. We ate, Eenan left with Mary to sleep over at her house, then Mario, Jaylen and I got ready to go to Jorge’s. We got there and they we bar-be-cuing. While the men tried to get Jorge’s Chevy to work, Maggie and I talked and then went to her mom’s house since her sister-in-law wanted to see the baskets she’s selling. She’s selling Easter baskets–and lots of them! We bought two of them for the boys and Mario got me a huge mug with bunnies on it with a bunny plush inside with some candies. Too cute . We got back and ate and after talking for about another hour we came home.

Mario and I woke up early Saturday morning since he had to go to work. I made breakfast, we ate, and then he left. Mary was outside cleaning and asked me to look through some toys the boys had outside in a box and see if there was anything we should throw out. Ended up getting rid of a plastic wagon that had too many spider/beetle eggs to count; a whole bunch of broken toys and pieces of toys that belong to other toys that had been sold at the garage sales. I helped her sweep the ceiling of the roof over the deck, which was covered in cobwebs. We have a Daddy Long Leg spider problem…they’re everywhere! Especially outside. I cleaned the outside of my kitchen window and the door and after everything was nice and clean, I noticed how old and dirty the door looked. So I painted it. I washed all the windows, then came inside and washed the window from the inside and removed all the curtains since they needed a washing. Sonia, and Annie and Catherine were all here so I came in and took a shower. I went back to Mary’s to chat with everyone when I was done and somehow we got into the discussion about breasts and bras. Annie told me mine looked nice and asked to see my bra. I stupidly asked, “How?”, and she said, “Do it like you’re gonna flash me.” So, embarrassed and shy as I was, I showed her and Sonia my bra LOL. I’m super shy about showing people my body, even if it’s just my stomach, so that was weird for me. She said my boobs looked so nice it would make a woman want to squeeze them . Never gotten a compliment like that before!

Noelia arrived with Andy a while later. He ate and we all talked to him and he seemed really comfortable. I ran back and forth from the kitchen to the bathroom to mingle and bathe the kids at the same time. While I flat-ironed my hair, Jaylen was with Noelia and Andy and was wrestling with Andy. He loved that LOL.

Everyone left and then Mary, Yazmin, the boys and I left to a birthday party. It was Melba’s little girl’s 2nd birthday. The kids had fun jumping in the moon jump for about an hour, they ate and then got their candy bags with these noisy-as-hell balloon things, we said our good-bye’s and thank-you’s and we left. We went to Wal-Mart and bought a turtle-shaped sandbox for Jaylen (Mom’s birthday present to him). After that we went to H-E-B to get a few groceries. Yazmin went with me while Mary stayed in the van with the boys and the cashier fluirted with me a bit…I still got it! We got some Taco Bell after that and ate in the van while we waited for Mario to get out of work. Mary took the Sentra to get that nasty noise fixed (the exhaust had two holes!) so he was without a car. We went to Jorge and Maggie’s after we got home and Mario changed clothes. Maggie and I had margaritas again and had a long talk about parenting.

Sunday, we woke up early to go deposit money at the bank and lo-and-behold, it was closed. It used to be open on Sunday’s…dumb bank. Mary was watching the boys for us (who were in their new sandbox before we even left!) since we were celebrating our 6 year wedding anniversary that day (since our actual anniversary’s on Easter). We went to Home Depot to get a few tools Mario needed and I oogled over the beautiful kitchens. If we ever get our house I want a nice, spaceous kitchen that has a place for every, single thing. I want it to be as un-cluttered as possible–not jam-packed the way it is now . We went to Sears for, of course, more tools and then to JCPenny to make our JCP card payment.

We decided we’d try TGIFriday’s since we’d never been there. We ordered motzerella sticks…the best I’ve had in a long while. We talked and enjoyed the atmosphere (and I realized I analize things too much. I kept wondering “Who cleans all the way up there?”, “Did they get permission from each company to display the vintage posters?” I can’t ever just enjoy my surroundings…I always ask questions and it can become quite annoying ).

Anyway, Mario had the Jack Daniel burger and I had the new Sizzling Chicken and Shrimp plate. OMG…I was in absolute heaven. Everything was REALLY good. I even got two huge heaps of mashed potatoes (the BEST I’ve ever tasted)…but I only ate one heap . We contemplated ordering dessert, since we were so very full, and ordered the Brownie Obsession. Oh. My. God. It was soooo good. Mario kept saying he couldn’t possibly eat dessert and ended up eating half of it LOL. We forced ourselves to eat it because it was just that good.

We were supposed to go to a movie after lunch, but we were so full and sleepy we decided to go home. We took a 2 hour nap with the boys and when I woke up I finished cleaning up since I’d left everything undone the day before. We went to Wal-Mart later on and got the house supplies, a corkboard for Gramma’s room at the nursing home and Eenan got himself a fish . He’d been wanting one forever and “saved” a dollar in quarters to buy him LOL. It was the cutest thing. His (I’m assuming it’s a he…) name’s Goldie and he’s a goldfish. He’s been doing pretty good with feeding him. He’s going to take Goldie and Smokey, the gerbil, to school when they go back to school next week for show-and-tell. Ms. O. asked me if we really had that many pets, to which I replied, “Oh my gosh…yes we do” LOL. We’ve got a petting zoo!

We went to see Gramma after that and put the corkboard on the wall and arranged all the pictures she had tacked on her wall. We’d get frames, but I don’t think they’d allow that many holes in the wall . So, a corkboard seemed like the next best thing. We talked and laughed with Gramma and asked her just WHAT she was watching since it was a “sexy” movie LMAO. We joked about that the rest of the time we were there.

We went to H-E-B and picked up a few things to bar-be-cue since Mario was in the mood to cook-out. We got home, set Goldie up in his new home and then I got everything ready, put Eenan to bed, and joined Mario outside by the fire pit. It was such a nice night out. We talked and laughed and it was so nice that Jaylen ended up falling asleep on a lawn chair LOL. We brought the food inside when it was ready and we watched The Ladykillers while we ate. It was a great day .

Monday and Tuesday were basically the same thing that happens everyday. Except now that we have the sandbox, the daily schedule changed a bit. Now I pick Eenan up from school, we get home and he does his homework, they get in the sandbox, take their showers, I make dinner and we eat, they watch TV/play while I make Mario’s lunch for work the next day, and then they brush their teeth and go to bed. Now, if only we could actually stay ON schedule…

Poor Eenan didn’t get home from school on Wednesday till 4:07pm. He gets out at 3:15 . Since Noelia wasn’t coming home after school and I couldn’t borrow her car to pick him up, I had to call Sonia to pick him up for me. Well, she forgot and I got a call from Ms. O. at 3:47 that he still hadn’t been picked up. I panicked and appologized and said someone would be right there. She told me not to worry, that he was there with her. So, I call Sonia and she’s like, “OH MY GOD, I FORGOT, I’M SO SORRY!!” and said she’d go get him. He gets here and he’s all cheerful and told me, “Where were you, Mom? I missed you!” I asked him if he was scared and he said no, that Ms. O. was with him the whole time. Aww . She’s such a good teacher.

Wednesday night was spent stuffing/covering the Easter eggs the kids and I had dyed on Tuesday. Eenan needed 2 dozens for their Easter party. I also had to bake 24 cupcakes, and ended up having to make 2 boxes of batter since I over-filled the first 12 cupcakes . When we picked Eenan up today (Mario had the day off), Ms. O. told me how she had him pass out the cupcakes and he would lick the cupcake before he gave it to the kids LOL. She didn’t know how many he licked before she noticed. Silly kid…I can’t believe he did that!

While Eenan was in school I typed out a formal letter (2 actually) for Ricky and then we went to JCPenny to get Jaylen some shoes. Luck would have it that they didn’t have his size. I think the two employees who were helping us just didn’t bother to check. They were having an awesome sale if we used our card too. Grr. I spent the rest of the day hauling ass around the house, cleaning. Elda, Jose and the boys get here tomorrow and I didn’t want this place to be a mess. I still have to mop and tackle the bedroom and bathroom, but I did the most important parts (kitchen and living room). It’s 1am now and I just got the best, most wonderful massage from Mario and am so ready to sleep. G’nite!

Plethora of Events Leading to Absolute Boredom

I should be getting my highlights right now, but I’m not. The brother decided to bail. I IM’d him yesterday after I realized he wasn’t coming and asked him what was up. He responded with, “I’ve got some shit to do, sorry!” Mom called later on and she mentions that John didn’t want to come over because he “didn’t want to watch my kids”. I tell her, “Oh, he said he had something to do.” And she said, “Yeah right, he’s been playing Playstation since he got home.” Nice. Last time I do him any favors.

The big garage sale/flea market was today also. And of course, I’m not going to that either. I’m going to spend yet another day, stuffed in this house, with the kids and the smelly pets. *plays violin* I’m tired of that cat. Not only do I have to clear out her litter box twice a day, but I have to swat her every 5 minutes because she’s either on top of the table, the stove, or laying on top of the gerbil’s cage on top of the entertainment center because she’s just waiting to eat him. She broke a candle holder last night and then knocked down a spindle of CD’s. The rabbit won’t stop peeing and is stinkin’ up my house. When will the madness end?!?

My “bad luck” didn’t end the last day I posted. That day, the darn washer took a crap while I was washing jeans. The water wouldn’t drain, let alone spin. I had to hand wring all the damn jeans and then dry them. I got a blister from all the wringing . I’ve had to wash Mario’s work uniforms by hand every night since then, since he’s only got 2 darn uniforms. (He won’t get more because they’re supposed to get new uniforms “soon”.) Bless my mother, who hand washed our clothes for the longest time. We were joking last night at Jorge and Maggie’s about how I deserve a new Dooney .

As for Eenan’s glasses, I was positive I’d had the glasses with me in the car, and didn’t bother calling the salon as Noelia suggested. I was certain I didn’t leave them there. When it was almost 5 Mary got here and said maybe I should call the salon, just in case. So she called for me, and they were there . I asked the lady where they found them and she said they were on a seat. When I got them, they were kind of crooked. I’m wondering if I dropped them outside and someone took them in and left them on the seat. I don’t remember leaving them there at all. But anyway, I’m just glad we found them.

Wednesday was Ash Wednesday, and Mary invited me to go to church with her and Noelia. The whole time I was sitting there (sitting because Jaylen had fallen asleep, and my back could not handle standing, sitting, kneeling and carrying him), I was rehearsing in my head what I would confess. I hadn’t confessed in 8 years. I was so nervous, almost shaking when it was my turn after Mary to confess. What made me even more nervous, was that there was no private little booth; we were out in the open sitting there, face-to-face with the Priest. I got about 2 things out, then totally choked. I went completely blank. Didn’t help I couldn’t understand what the man was saying because he was speaking very softly and had a strange accent.

Mario called me that night and was so upset. He was frustrated with work and frustrated that he didn’t have Thursday off after all. He got home and we just stood there, holding eachother. It broke my heart to see him so upset. We were going to watch a movie and he just ended up falling asleep instead.

The next day, he bought a stereo and didn’t get employee price, which sort of pissed him off, but it’s a nice stereo so he didn’t complain much. If he has Sunday off, he’s going to install it in the car. He’s so burned out from work. They all are actually, from what the guys were talking about last night at Jorge’s. We got home at 1:30am, ate “dinner” and then he went to sleep at around 2. He couldn’t even get out of bed this morning. I hope he’s ok during the day.

Eenan was upset because Thursday was “Father/Son reading night” at the school. Since Mario wasn’t able to go after all, I asked Ms. O. if it would be alright if I took him. She said, “Sure, of course you can! I don’t even know why they have it this way. A lot of families don’t even have fathers present, y’know?” I asked Mary if she’d like to go with me and she said yes. So we went. We were supposed to meet at the library, but they called us to the cafeteria. I walk in there, and standing in a huge circle, were a whole bunch of fathers with their sons. I felt so weird . They were doing this whole introduction where the dad would introduce his son, state his interests and the son would do the same thing. They didn’t get to me, Thank God. We had to do all this happy, hippy, group crap, where we discussed how we should help our kids with their homework, and other junk parents should already be doing, but obviously don’t. I was so ready to leave, especially when the kids became irritated and hyper because they’d been sitting there so damn long. I thought we were there to read to the kids?! After about 45 minutes of torture discussions, they finally lead us to the library. The boys didn’t even want to listen to stories by then. Eenan ended up getting a story from the library, read it and tested on it. He got all the answers correct and we left. They picked out a whole bunch of free books they were giving out and we came home. Never again. At first I was annoyed with the kids for misbehaving so much, but then I realized it wasn’t their fault. It was the school’s for tricking us .

I called Mario that night and was all annoyed with him. I was bitching how it was almost 9pm and he still hadn’t called me and isn’t he supposed to get out at 7?? and hung up on him. I was that frustrated. He called back and told me how he had a bad day and that I wasn’t helping. I immediately felt like an ass and appologized. He got home and we ate dinner together (which doesn’t happen all too often anymore) and cuddled on the couch to watch the movies he’d rented. We only got to watch The Terminal, which was a really sweet movie. Then we had the most wonderful “alone time” we’d had in the longest time . Spending time with him really made up for my 3 days of crappiness.

I’m really hoping Mario has tomorrow off. I miss him, and so do the boys. We have bills to pay, and plans to make for the late Valentine’s night we’ll be having Monday. Still deciding whether we should celebrate tomorow instead. I don’t even know what to get him .

Random: I wish I was a celebrity who’s going to the Grammy’s JUST to get those really cool giveaways *jealous*. I think I saw a pink/black iPod!

Good Things & Colds

I’m deaf in my left ear right now. I caught Eenan’s cold around Friday night and have felt like crap ever since. I don’t understand how I can get sick all the darn time if I drink juice at least once a day (the apple juice we drink has 125% vitamin C!), I exercise and take vitamins and I still manage to have the weakest immune system on the planet. I need to be healthy to take care of my kids, my husband, my pets and my house! I can’t afford to be sick at all, dammit. I have the worst cough…that’s how my ear blew out and I’m SO scared because that’s how Mom lost her hearing in both ears. One year she had a really bad cough–so bad, that she lost partial hearing in one ear and almost completely lost her hearing in the other. I can’t imagine, and don’t want to imagine, what it would be like to be hearing impaired. Mom has such a hard time with it. I feel like I’m getting a fever and my whole body aches to boot. Okay, I’ll stop whining .

I don’t remember much from Thursday, the day after I last posted. I know I spent a good chunk of the day cleaning and sorting stuff for the garage sale. We went to Aunt Nora’s for a while to visit her and Mom and John.

On Friday, we woke up at the time we usually do to get Eenan ready for school, which was a bad idea. We dropped him off, hung up the signs for the garage sale, and realized we were going to be starting late. Really late. Aunt Nora didn’t even get there till around 8:30 and we were supposed to have everything ready by 7. We hadn’t even brought Mom’s things out when people were arriving! I ended up taking them over to the apartment next door for them to look at stuff instead of lugging it all over here. It was sort of a bad idea, since some ladies were super careless and were breaking shit. A group of ladies (that came the last time we had a garage sale) bought a whole bunch of stuff…but only because we were selling things for a quarter and for a dollar and they were STILL trying to jack stuff! Can you beleive that?? They saw some little ornaments Mom had on the kitchen counter and thought they’d be sneaky and pass them to eachother hand-in-hand but I saw them. When they were walking out I said, “You gonna pay for that?”. They acted like they had no idea what I was talking about and pointed to the little ornaments. They were like, “Oh! Of course!” Grrr.

We did good that day. It was nice and breezy and it was fun sitting out there with Aunt Nora and talking. She was cracking up with Jaylen. Tio Arturo stopped by and took Aunt Nora to lunch, and they saved us and brought some back for us, which was so nice. They ended up leaving at around 3:30 since they had a Cher concert to catch that night . Mom made around $50 and we made around $50 so that was pretty cool, considering how damn cheap we were selling everything. But we did want to get rid of all the stuff so it worked out. John came over that day after school since he was going to spend the weekend with us. When we were cleaning up I get a really serious call from Jorge, who was looking for Mario. I told him Mario had gone somewhere but I’d tell him to call him back. Jorge said the boss wanted to talk to him. My heart sank and I felt lightheaded. Did I hear correctly? Could my husband possibly be getting a job?? The job he’s wanted forever?

Mario got there and between squeals and jumping up and down I told him to call Jorge. He did and Mario said he needed to freshen up and go talk to the boss. He’d be starting the next morning at 11am. I couldn’t believe it, but I was so happy. Especially for Mario who wanted this so badly and heck, we needed it so badly!

Mary picked Mom up since Aunt Nora and Tio were getting ready for the concert, so she spent a little time there too and I gave her her moola. Then Mario and Mary would drop her off at home and then go to Sears to pick up some tools Mario would need. He was all smiles. He was SUPER excited. I hope everything goes well. After everything we’ve been through the past year, I hope this is our chance to be happy for a good long while, and hopefully not have everything ripped away from us as it’s happened twice before. I hope, hope, hope everything goes well!

Saturday, Aunt Nora didn’t come to the garage sale. She told me she was super tired (don’t blame her) and that I could sell her stuff and keep the money. I asked her about 3 times if she was sure and she said yes. Mario picked up McDonald’s for us in the morning and then he left to work *squeal*. I missed him instantly. I had John out there with me most of the day, since I felt lonely. Mary ended up taking Eenan to the doctor since he was still feeling sick and now had a fever, so I just stayed with Jaylen. We were chased around by bees all darn day long! When the garage sale was over, I was so relieved! We took the remainder of the stuff to Mario’s Grandma’s house and then came home. Mary asked if we wanted to watch Shrek 2 with her so the boys and I went over. Big Mario got home…he shot a deer and it was barely the first day of Deer Season! Then Mario got home and told me about his day. He loved it !

The next day, Mary, Jaylen and I woke up early and went to the big flea market/garage sale. Eenan slept in with John and Mario. I bought a few Hot Wheels for Mario that I know he didn’t have to add to his birthday present and got the kids a few things (dinosaurs for both and a Swift Heart Rabbit for Eenan). I was kinda disappointed that I didn’t find too many things, but relieved at the same time since I still felt guilty for how much I spent the last time . I found a Raspberry Tart doll, baseball Popple, a really cute Rainbow Brite sleeping bag, Care Bear sleeping bag and Strawberry Shortcake twin flat sheet. In all, I spent only $15!! I was so happy with my purchases and proud of myself for putting the rest of the sheets/sleeping bags down LOL. Here’s a pic of them. I put up a bigger pic of the SBSC one in the SBSC page and will be adding the other ones soon.

I cut John’s hair later and spent the rest of that day and Monday cleaning. I’ve been sick as a dog, but I’ve been cleaning and it sucks. Monday morning I drove Eenan to school by myself for the first time ever. I’ve driven him before, but Mario was always in the passenger seat. I decided to let him sleep in more since he was going to work and bravely drove my child to school. I left his Motrin with the nurse and instructed her as to when his next dosage was and what his symptoms were. When Sonia picked him up after school and got the medicine from the nurse, the nurse gushed about how adorable he was. He said, “Mmmm! I LOVE Motrin! I love the orange flavor!” And took it with no problem. He knows he needs to take two teaspoons so when he swallowed that one he said, “More please!” LOL. He’s so cooperative. Well, at school he is LOL.

We decided we’ll be taking Eenan to the doctor again tomorrow. He still has a fever, even though it’s not as bad as it was, but it’s still lingering. He’s got to have an infection somewhere and the doctor didn’t prescribe antibiotics. Since Mary took him on Saturday, the pediatrician we go to was closed so she took him to a clinic. The same clinic that told us Jaylen’s foot was fine and just to “keep an eye on it” when he was first diagnosed with MRSA. Bastards. I told Mary we need to take him to his “real” doctor. Heaven forbid he have Strep :(.

I’m heading to bed. I’ve got horrible chills now and my fever’s in full swing. Already started on antibiotics…just hope they kick in sooner than later .
