The Weekly Bar-B-Q

Well, I didn’t end up boiling the bottles and pacifiers that last night I blogged. I think I finished with laundry that night, then washed the rest of the dishes, and then Mario finally woke up and actually helped me clean up Alaethia’s room. We re-organized her little toy drawers with the proper toys and it took us much less time than if I’d tried to do it on my own. While I was sitting on the floor with Alaethia we played with her My First Dollhouse for a while and then she got bored, put her toys away and started playing with her baby and stroller. It’s so cute; she walks around with her Cinderella cell phone in her hand while pushing her baby (who actually sucks on a pacifier). I can’t wait till Emily’s big enough to walk around and watch them play together *sqee!*.

Alaethia, once again, didn’t start nodding off till almost 2am, so needless to say, she endured much poking and prodding in the morning and didn’t budge an inch. I boiled all the bottles (which all fit perfectly on the spinning drying rack) I tried going to sleep but I was hot so I kept tossing and turning, and then John came over quickly followed by mother. Oh well.

John and I’d opened up the playpen to test it out yesterday…and I hated it. We couldn’t close the darn thing back up if our lives depended on it. The pad was awful, too; it had 2 inch gaps between each padded part, where it folds. I asked Mario to help me fold it back up at night and not even he could do it. So yesterday afternoon, John and I struggled with it until the damn thing let us fold it back up and took it back to Target. I don’t even think I’m going to bother getting another one. The only reason I’d want to get one would be for Mary’s house, but then again we have the monitors and can just set those up when we have get-togethers and stuff.

I wanted to go to a thrift store, but John didn’t want to. He said I’d tricked him into walking around with me to induce labor, just like the day before LOL. So we just went straight to Walmart, where Mom asked me to pick up 3 more skeins of yarn and some bread for her, and I needed a few things, like detergent, TP, and milk. I seriously can’t wait till they open up the Walmart in Peñitas…it’ll be so much closer!

We got home and I unloaded everything. John was walking around the kitchen, eating whatever he could find and said he’d wait for me to start on the banana bread I’d asked him to remind me to make. I figured it was a good day, since the bananas probably wouldn’t last another and Mario was going to bar-b-q outside anyway, so I didn’t have to worry about dinner. Maggie, Jorge and the kids were going to come over that evening, so it would be a nice dessert.

I got everything started as the guys (Mario, Jorge and Adan) were getting here. The bread would take approximately an hour to bake, so I joined them outside. I laughed at their jokes and Jorge filled me in on some family drama that’s going on. It’s crazy.

My Mom and dad-in-law were out there and so were the kids for a while. Well, Jaylen was, anyway. Eenan was inside entertaining himself with his tons of Legos. Jaylen was outside being a boy, asking Mario to wrestle with him every 5 minutes LOL.

Aide and Belle got here and much later Maggie and the boys and then Jason, Mirella and Brianna. They’d brought food, too, from Golden Chick, but I only got a bite and waited for the wings the guys were making. Once we ate, I brought out a loaf of the banana bread. Almost the whole pan was gone by the end of the night (I was surprised the other pan made it!).

The guys got all crazy by the end of the night, playing jokes on each other and just being guys and I was exhausted. Mario actually went straight to bed after we cleaned up and everyone left. Alaethia was so exhausted from running around that she crashed out almost immediately, too. I was the only one having trouble falling asleep…and it was because I was sweating up a storm (yes, the fan was pointing directly at me, too).

So this morning I woke up and made Mario a quick breakfast and a quick lunch. I really wanted some eggs overeasy, like I made him, but I don’t want to risk it. I already had a queso fresco quesadilla last night, and although I’m not supposed to eat quesso fresco at all because I’m pregnant and it may contain the Listeriosis bacteria, I did ask for it grilled and toasted, just in case.

I ate breakfast (Rice Crispies cereal and some decaf coffee) and chatted with Mario online for a while. I helped him set up his Flickr account and started getting sleepy again. I felt fine in the morning, but I got tired really quickly. I tried sleeping but Alaethia woke up. When I gave her breakfast and tried taking a nap while she sat next to me and watched Noggin, mother showed up. It’s not enough that she was embarrassingly out there with us while all the guys were being gross and making their jokes (she didn’t leave till almost midnight), she shows up early the next day. Grr. And all she’s doing is nodding off on the sofa.

I’m 38 weeks today and I totally feel it. My feet are killing me and I haven’t even washed dishes yet. I need to vacuum, sweep, mop, clean up the kitchen table and counter, clean up my bedroom, and tidy up the living room. I don’t know if I can do it. Maybe once I’ve just sat for a while I can. Mario warned me again about over-doing it I just never listen. I guess I’ll listen today.

Lady In Waiting

Hmph. I’m so bored right now. Well, I wouldn’t be bored if I were up and doing the cleaning and laundry I have to do but my back, belly and feet won’t let me.

I just spent about 15 minutes washing dishes and I didn’t even get to finish because my back and feet hurt so much. So I’m taking a break. I still need the pans (3), 2 containers with old food in them (ew), and a bowl and spoon. I’m assuming I won’t get to that darn banana bread again today.

I was also going to tackle the mess in Alaethia’s room (she got out of hand one day and just threw all her toys everywhere. I’m amazed there are still some in the closet!), but again, my body just won’t work with me. My mind says, Yes! Let’s do this! and my body screams, No, please, no more!!

I got up in the morning and amazingly, didn’t feel as tired as I thought I would. I was tossing and turning all night but I got up when the alarm went off and got Mario’s lunch and breakfast ready. He, on the other hand, was rushing around since he woke up 15 minutes later than I woke him up.

Although I didn’t get to do every last thing (like getting my bag and diaper bag ready, washing the bassinet stuff, and sterilizing the bottles) I did finally put the car seat back together and put the new head support in it. I’m going to have to ask Mario to remove the canopy though, because it looks dingy.

I went to Old Navy, Target and to pay John’s car payment with John this afternoon. Mom came over to watch Alaethia, so I figured some exercise would be good and I needed to exchange something and use the girls’ gift cards before I can’t go to town for a while LOL.

When we were waiting to turn in to Old Navy we almost got into a car accident and it probably would have been my fault. Well, sort of. Everyone but one or two people kept blocking the darn entrance to the store and when I finally got tired of waiting I just stepped on the gas and went. We may have seen it much closer than it actually was because we freaked out at my stupidity, but we made it across just fine. When I parked and looked at John his eyes were the size of dinner plates and he says, “You go ahead. I don’t have a change of pants.” LOL

I took a bit picking out a few things for Alaethia, whose gift card I was using there. I got a cute dress for her, a pink polka-dotted blouse (for $2.50!), and some really cute hot pink jelly sandals. We went straight to Target after that, where I exchanged the shopping cart cover Sally had gotten her for a girlie one. (I’m not ungrateful, I swear. She told me to exchange it for a girlier color.) So I found one that’s actually a 3-in-1 that works in the shopping cart, restaurant high chairs and as a play mat.

I also got Emily two cute dresses, got one for Alaethia and some breast pads for me. I’d totally forgotten I’d need some of those.

I felt really weird when John and I were about to leave Target. I guess since I’d been walking for a while I started to feel a weird…tingling when I walked. Then my stomach felt really hard and I felt a lot of pressure as I was driving. When I stopped at Auto Zone on the way home to pick up some wiper fluid John told me to hurry up because he didn’t want me to end up delivering at the store LOL.

So we got home and I unloaded the stuff. Alaethia (who is quickly becoming boogery–great!) wanted to put on her blouse and jellies as soon as she saw them LOL. I dressed her and then she stayed playing with Mom and John while I picked up the boys.

Eenan gave me such a cute Hershey’s kiss rose–a belated Valentine’s Day gift, aww :). I reminded them that they weren’t playing games during the week anymore and they actually didn’t fuss about it. I dropped them off, called the office to make sure Dr. C. was there and he was, so I went in today instead of tomorrow morning.

I spoke to Elvira about a book she was reading for a history class. I took a seat afterwards and read New Moon while I waited. I didn’t get very far since the office was almost completely empty! A new girl was taking my vitals today instead of Erica or Laura. I lost two pounds, strangely enough; I weighed 138.8. My blood pressure was fine and I told her how my feet were swollen yesterday. I found it strange that she didn’t ask me to give a urine sample.

She took me to my room and I waited for Dr. C. He shook my hand and asked how I was doing, how I felt. I said okay, except for the annoying YI that I probably got from the antibiotics I’m taking. He said yes, that was most likely what happened; he’d call in a prescription for me to the pharmacy. He did a quick sono, where he checked Emily’s head, heart, spine, and legs–and I finally got to see her little privates again! She’s most definitely a girl :).

Another thing I found weird about this appointment was that he didn’t check if I’d dilated or effaced at all. I hate pelvic exams, but I really want to know if the funniness I feel down there is that my body’s getting ready for birth. I have an appointment again next Monday. I’ll be sure to ask him about another annoying problem I forgot to tell him about and to have him please assure me that everything will be okay with Emily and this GBS thing.

As I was picking up my prescription, Mario texted me that he was out, but if it was okay if he waited for his friend Raquel to get out of work at 6 so he could check her car. Well now. It was 4:30. Had I asked him to wait around for me somewhere for an hour and a half he’d throw a fit. I let him know how I felt about that even though I said it was fine. Actually, I said “I guess”.

I get home and make chalupas out of the ingredients we had left over from yesterday. I was starving, since all I’d really had for “lunch” was a Rice Crispies treat. So I ate and then went over to Mary’s with John and the kids to print out his report for school. It took a while since I had to install Microsoft Office. The boys and Alaethia were playing ball in the living room and I was so sure they’d break something. Alaethia stayed over there for a while. When we came back over here, Mario got here. I made him some chalupas, too, since he didn’t have a lunch hour today.

And then he came to the living room and fell asleep, even through Alaethia’s protests about staying here when Mary brought her back. We were supposed to be cleaning up Alaethia’s room and putting her toddler bed together but I guess not.

I guess I’ll start boiling those bottles now.

Caught Up!!

Thurs., Feb. 12th –Since we went to sleep late I didn’t even get up to make Mario breakfast or anything. How he managed to wake up at all is beyond me.

I spent most of the morning tidying up and then updating my blog and uploading pictures—FINALLY! Before I knew it, it was lunch time and then time to pick up the boys after school. We got home, they did homework and survived their first day of not playing games. I took Mom to Dollar General and I stayed in the Equinox, reading of course. Jaylen went with us and got down with Mom to spend some of his $24 that he’s saved on his own. He saves every dollar that anyone gives him. He’s so much better at saving than I am LOL.

We got home and worked on the boys’ Valentine cards for school. Mario got home and went on his jog and then we chilled out the rest of the evening. Alaethia fell asleep early for once, about 9:40pm. Mario and I watched Superbad on TV and messed with our computers at the same time. Then we spent some much-needed along time together. Alaethia did manage to wake up around 1am and then didn’t want to go back to sleep at all after that. She was up every few hours, just tossing and turning for no reason.

Fri., Feb 13th – I stayed asleep again after the alarm went off for Mario to get up. When I woke up about an hour later I’d had a dream that I had triplets : 1 girl and two boys! The girl and one boy were born first and they were tiny! The doctor was completely shocked because they only ever saw one fetus throughout my pregnancy. I felt like the 3rd baby was taking too long so I got up and had lunch with Sally and Carmen. Dr. C. was looking for me everywhere. I went back to the room and nonchalantly called Mario to tell him I was having the babies. Dr. C. was concerned about the last baby. But then it was born and then I woke up. It was SO WEIRD.

I did the morning routine and then Mario called and told me about having to pay his bosses back some money that they overpaid us during the whole overdrafting fiasco since two of the NSF fees didn’t go through after all (though they had been showing up the morning I made the deposit). So I was having to redo the math and was not happy about it. Grr. I’ll say it again: had that whole thing not happened we wouldn’t have to hassle. But whatever.

Aww…Emily has hiccups again at 2:50pm. She gets them often now :). I’m going to miss that *tear*.

Anyway, I’ve spent a lot of the day catching up on entries and doing the rest of the laundry. I still need to get the bassinet, car seat and bags in order, but I’ll be doing those tomorrow (or Sunday) for sure. Still don’t know what we’re doing for Valentine’s Day since we’re kind of on a budget.

I picked up the boys from school; they were so excited about Valentine’s Day and were actually being really civil with each other. I allowed them to eat some of their Valentine’s candy.

Mario got home early and deposited at the bank. We chilled out the rest of the day. We watched TV and even changed his layout on his Myspace. Stupid Myspace. I haven’t been able to upload pictures since last week! It freezes my computer every time I try.

Noelia was getting a procedure done so Mary wasn’t here and was going to spend the night with Noelia. The boys are dealing with it pretty well. Eenan, too, surprisingly, although he did have one breakdown about missing his Nana and how he was going to try and stay awake until she got home.

I made dinner (chili and guacamole) and went outside with Mario, Jose, Elda and later, Adan.

The boys fell asleep in the living room watching TV. I was surprised that they actually stayed asleep! We chilled out all evening outside under the party porch. Alaethia was outside with us for a good while but fell asleep as Mario rocked her around 9:40 again, amazingly. We tried out the new baby monitors and they’re really good and clear, but not crackly like our old ones.

I finished uploading all my pictures to Flickr, yay! Now I just need to finish with my blogs and I’m done!

My stomach felt weird for a while, but it must be the darn antibiotics screwing with me. We once again went to bed late. We decided we’d go watch Confessions of a Shopaholic at 11am tomorrow, but I guess we’re catching the 1:00 showing instead.
